"You’ve had an accident and now you’re dead. You won’t be any the wiser upon your return."
Strange things start happening when college student Liv Bolan wakes up with a concussion after an accident. Her phone isn’t an iPhone anymore, her walls aren’t blue, and her BFF isn’t dating a guy from one of their classes, but has a girlfriend Liv’s never met.
Her life takes an even stranger turn when she sees a gorgeous singer who seems oh so familiar in a YouTube video. While something about him tugs at her, Liv is certain she’s never met him. No one would ever forget that face!
When the camera pans though, she sees herself in the audience. The problem is, she has no memory of attending the performance. But everybody has a double, right? At least, that’s what she tells herself until the singer shows up at the campus coffee shop where she works and sparks start flying.
Will Liv find a way to overcome past heartache or will she risk her second chance with a guy she doesn’t remember she loves?
Ev Paxton's A Thousand Times is an evocative reincarnation romance with a truly unique twist: a do-over in the same life, giving all new meaning to second chances!
Content Warning: This novel contains scenes with the following, either actual, referenced, and/or implied: abortion.
I devoured this book. Reincarnation, 2nd chances, 3rd,4th…whatever it takes. Liv has had an accident after discovering her boyfriend has done something. Robert, her guardian angel, messed up a little…so she has to go back. Zak, the boyfriend, I wasn’t happy with him in the beginning but I fell in love with their love. I didn’t cry, I impressed myself!! I did laugh, got angry, sad..felt all the emotions.
I love how so many emotions are included in this story. You can’t help but feel all of them! You just want to root for Liv throughout the entire book. I found myself thinking about her when I wasn’t reading this book.
It is a romance novel with reincarnation that I recommend to you!
Loved this book! Despite the wonderful fantasy backdrop, the relationship between the two main protagonists felt so beautifully real ❤️ So much push and pull, it has you really rooting for them!
Excellent writing mixed with real-world complications and romance. Olivia things she knows exactly what she wants. Zak doesn't fit perfectly into the picture her mother would prefer for her. Tragedy leads to life changing choices and maybe a second chance to get things right.
I caught a glimpse of the storyline on the author’s TikTok account and decided to download the book.
I loved Liv’s somewhat sassy attitude and the magic between her and Zak. I’m a firm believer in past lives and soulmates, and this story floats through both, with a little twist. I know it’s a bit cliche, but I laughed, I cried, it became a part of me - for a short time anyway.
Love, Loss, and Fantasy: A Tale That Touched My Soul
Ev Paxton’s A Thousand Times weaves a mesmerizing tale of love, heartbreak, and trust, set in a fantastical yet relatable world. The story's essence is wonderfully captured through a fluid and cinematic writing style that keeps readers engaged from start to finish.
The characters are brilliantly crafted, with arcs that feel almost tangible—they breathe life into the pages, making readers want to either hug them or, at times, give them a piece of their mind. The author’s handling of sensitive real-life issues is both considerate and elegant, adding a layer of realism to the fantasy.
What’s truly impressive is that this is Paxton’s debut novel. Reading it, one might think she’s a seasoned author, given the masterful storytelling and character development.
From its unique beginning to its heartwarming ending, A Thousand Times is a novel that artfully captivates and resonates. I wholeheartedly recommend it to lovers of the genre and even those new to it. I eagerly await Ev Paxton’s next exceptional tale.
Ev Paxton has beautifully written a unique second chance romance novel.
Liv had passed away and was taken to a transition area. She had been provided with a quick review of her life and was given a second chance. Her life had been reset, and she returned back to the current day which had a different ending.
Once she returned she had several moments of deja vu and visions that had not yet taken place. Unfortunately she had been sent back to the transition area to be reset a couple more times.
Liv met Zak and her life had forever changed. She never wanted to fall in love, because her father left her mother when he had been told she was pregnant. She tried to deny the chemistry but her heart told her that Zak deserved a chance. They are met with many challenges along the way but Ev ensured you find your happy ending.
Ev’s creativity took reincarnation to a different level. Her writing skills are nothing less than perfection. Don’t miss out on this astonishing novel!
"A Thousand Times" by EV Praxton is an emotional rollercoaster that pulls at your heartstrings from start to finish. The story follows two deeply flawed yet relatable characters whose paths cross repeatedly over the years, with fate seemingly never allowing them to get their timing right. Praxton does a fantastic job capturing the complexities of love, heartbreak, and timing in relationships.
The slow-burn romance keeps you hooked, and the chemistry between the characters feels authentic. I especially loved how their individual growth was just as important as their relationship. The author's writing style is both poetic and raw, creating vivid scenes that stick with you long after you've finished reading.
My only minor critique is that some of the pacing felt a bit uneven, particularly in the middle, but overall, it didn’t take away from the emotional depth of the story. If you’re a fan of second-chance romances with beautifully flawed characters, this is a must-read!
I loved this book. It’s not often that I read a book straight through in a single day. This is a unique, creative, and well-crafted story that kept me turning pages. I ate peanut butter from the jar for dinner so I didn’t have to put it down to go for groceries and cook. There’s something very compelling about the mystical “what if” premise that underpins the plot and repeatedly brings these two people together while simultaneously challenging their relationship. I felt like I was right there with Liv after the concussion, as she experienced the jarring discovery of details which revealed her life was not as she remembered it. That’s just the beginning. It only gets better from there.
Just the cover alone made me want to read this book. Then I heard the premise and was more excited. This is an Indie author and they shouldn’t be put off to the side. This story is about reincarnation, although told in a way I haven’t read before. I loved the characters, the storyline and couldn’t wait to finish. I will probably read this again in the future. Liv is the main female character and so much happens to her in this story. No spoilers, pick it up and read it! It’s a book you will love.
I used to be a big romance reader, but I stopped for a long time. This was the first book I picked up since then, and was glad I did. The story follows Liv Bolan, who has a very bad accident. When she wakes up, things are different from what she remembered. This leads to a series of events and deja vu moments. I absolutely love the concept of this story and think Ev Paxton did an amazing job bringing the story to life. I highly recommend this read.
This author knows how to take your imagination on a journey that leaves you wanting more to the very last page. You will fall in love with the characters as you journey along with them.
Ev Paxton’s “A Thousand Times” is one of those rare books that lingers with you long after you’ve turned the final page. From the very first chapter, I was hooked by the unique premise: Liv Bolan wakes up after a concussion to find her reality shifting in subtle but unnerving ways. The changes—her phone no longer being an iPhone, walls suddenly painted a different color—felt so vivid and eerie, it was impossible not to be drawn into the mystery.
Then enters Zak. Oh, Zak. The chemistry between Liv and Zak was everything I could want in a romance—intense, raw, and so beautifully written that I found myself rooting for them from the moment they met. Paxton takes the trope of love and reincarnation and makes it feel fresh, almost like you're falling in love for the first (and second!) time right alongside the characters.
The pacing was fantastic, the twists kept me guessing, and the emotional depth was perfect without being overwhelming. I also adored the playlists at the end—it’s such a creative and personal touch that added even more to the experience.
If you love stories about fate, second chances, and the idea of destiny rewriting itself, this book is an absolute must-read. Ev Paxton has a gift for storytelling, and I cannot wait to see what she writes next. Highly, highly recommend!
A Thousand Times, Liv’s glitch‑in‑the‑matrix love story hits the perfect mix of heart, mystery, and music, fresh but never gimmicky. I tore through it and closed the last page grinning. Second‑chance romance with a clever twist.
I have never rooted so hard for a second chance couple
Read this book in two days! I needed answers 😅 What a wonderfully fun read! A second chance romance with an reincarnation twist! Robert and Nathan bring such delightfully tragic chaos to Liv and Zak’s lives!
Loved this story. The main Character, Liv, was well written and who wouldn't want a rocker boyfriend like Zak. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it! Thanks Ev for a fantastic read.
The reincarnation aspect is written so beautifully—it’s unique, heartfelt, and kept me hooked from the very first page. Liv’s journey of discovering her past (and her heart) was emotional and filled with so many "aha!" moments. And let’s talk about Nathan for a second—he had me cracking up with his charm and quick wit! Seriously, every scene with him was a treat. Ev Paxton does such a great job balancing humor with all the heartache and tension. The ending? Oh, my heart. It’s the kind of ending that leaves you clutching the book, smiling through happy tears. A perfect blend of closure and hope. This is a stunning second-chance romance that reminds us why love is worth fighting for, no matter how many lifetimes it takes.
I loved Ev Paxton's A Thousand Times! It's a reincarnation romance with a twist! I couldn't put it down! And the cover... wow! This novel keeps you on the edge of your seat, wanting more with each flip of the page! What would you do if things seem familiar but you just can't quite put your finger on the reality, and then... well, you will have to read this amazing novel to find out!
This book had me sucked in from the start! The concept of the book will have me wondering every time I experience deja vu. So well written, I felt everything the main character, Liv, felt. Also, I seriously grinned through the entire epilogue! Like that ending is so perfect. Originally read this on KU but I loved it so much I had to order a copy for my shelf and now I can't wait for it to come in because I'll probably read it again just to annotate it.
This book has everything you want. Romance, fantasy, likeable characters, twists and turns. You can truly tell that the author has put every bit of love into this book. The words get your imagination flowing and you’ll quickly be lost in your own mind. The story was beautiful ans i wanted it to last as long as possible. I was so sad when it was over.
A unique take on reincarnation that ai really enjoined. Sweet and swoony romance. Zak is dreamy, well written. Without dropping spoilers, Ill say that one of my favorite things was the authors use of the olfactory senses as a harbinger. Ive never seen that done before, my heart raced at the mention of both. And Ive got s little sandalwood going in the diffuser. if you know, you know.
Beautiful story... Emotional, heartwarming, heartbreaking... This book is about choices and life lessons, about dreams and responsibilities, about following your gut and sticking to someone else's plan. It is many things...
This is a must read! Unlike anything I’ve ever read, with a truly unique feel. From the characters, descriptions, and plot it all leaves you wanting more. Even the side characters leave you with a thirst to know more. I cannot wait to read more by this author.
Romance with a twist! Ev has written a really unique take on reincarnation & second chances here – I loved this book! The ending made me cry, in the best way. I loved the characters. I loved – without spoilers – the BEIGE. What an amazing concept! I was captured by Ev’s excellent writing from page one. I did not want to put this book down! It is a smooth read, well edited, so easy to get lost within – such a treat to experience. Emotional and riveting.
There was something so real and relatable about these characters and their day-to-day lives. Ev does a fabulous job with vital details, all the little things that draw one into a scene and make one connect with not only the characters but what’s happening in the moment. I think a lot of us authors can forget to add the “human” to our characters, the gestures, the little things that we do when we converse, the habits we form that we don’t even know we have. It reminds me of watching an incredible acting performance, where even when nothing much is happening, there is so much going on. A good actor can portray the smallest of things that sell the entire story, that sell their character and what they are going through. That is Ev and her ability to tell a story, to make it real, to pull us into the page, right into it. I could see and feel these scenes; masterful, beautiful.
I wish I could read it again for the first time. This book will stay with me forever; my heart needed this read. Please write us more books Ev!!! You are an amazing writer!
Don’t forget to check out the playlist in the back of the book!
Subject matter that may be triggering for some: Cheating. Abortion (no scene detail).
A Thousand Times by Ev Paxton is a second-chance romance infused with supernatural and spiritual elements. It carries the essence of The Good Place and Groundhog Day, but it goes much deeper, delivering an emotional and thought-provoking journey.
Ev crafts characters who are both fun and deeply complex, shaped by their past traumas. While the story explores sensitive themes, including verbal abuse and abortion, these topics are handled with care. I appreciate how Ev brings them into the narrative rather than brushing them aside.
This book had me grinning—a lot. The chemistry between the main characters is undeniable, and their interactions kept me engaged, rooting for them the whole way through.
I kept thinking, Liv needs to learn a lesson. It’s the butterfly effect—one small change can shift everything. That hope kept me turning the pages, wondering if things would finally fall into place for her and Zak.
And let me tell you—I was rooting for Zak!
A Thousand Times is a fun, emotional read that I thoroughly enjoyed, and I think you will too.
What a great book! Tore through it in a couple of days. Could not put it down! Loved the concept of reincarnation throughout, and what people would choose if given the choice. I was fully invested in Olivia and Zak’s story from beginning to end and just had to know if they eventually worked through their stuff. It was also so refreshing to read a book where the MMC didn’t have his head stuck up his ass and actually owned up to his misgivings instead of trying to play them off as something else entirely! Read it! You’ll thank me for it later!! 😉
The novel explores the concept of love transcending time, presenting protagonists whose connection defies logic yet feels undeniably real. Paxton’s prose is both lyrical and immersive, pulling readers into a world where destiny is fluid, and choices hold profound consequences. The author skillfully balances heart-wrenching moments with hopeful undertones, ensuring.
