i just wanted to write the review and wash my hands off this.

📕1 star. Read on 2nd March 2026. i wanted a story where lace on one twin would trigger the other’s desires. So, Micah tries on the panties which were from a luggage mixup, and that triggers max's primal urge to dollify him. Great. That’s exactly my trope. But a kink that i love so much was marred by such a disgusting guy like max. Outside “play,” feminisation and dollification (of any kind) only work when there’s genuine love/interest for the person underneath the lace. i wanted that balance. Instead, only Micah falls in love. max doesn’t & is here for the kink. But he says he’s in love and we must believe him against all the proof saying otherwise. That’s it. May a “love” such as max’s, never find any soul.

This book had everything smutty & steamy I would expect from a Becca Vale book, along with a thoughtful conversation about forced feminization (an awesome kink) versus actually being trans.

One of the things that I really HATE (as someone who identifies as trans and writes books with trans leads) is when books with forced feminization as labeled as trans. They're both cool, but they're not at all the same thing, and assuming that they are reinforces harmful stereotypes.

I really appreciated that in this book, Becca set up a forced feminization kink where both people were into it, capturing the allure and gentle confusion of playing with a new gender expression at the hands of your more dominant partner. At one point in the book, she takes an educational opportunity to talk about this. Micah, who's starting to explore lingerie and makeup at Max's insistence asks Max: "And what, you decided I'm trans now? 'Cause I hate to break it to you, but I like my d*** just fine."

Max replies, "I never said you were trans. Who says guys can't wear makeup too?" then goes on to reassure him that it's okay to explore looking pretty and feminine as a man. This is exactly the type of clear and honest conversation that I like to see about gender identity and expression, recognizing that the two things are different, and opening up the opportunity to talk more about it.

It also represents real conversations that people have in real life when they're going through the difficult process of figuring out how their gender identity, gender expression, sexuality, and kinks all interweave together in complex ways. Micah knows himself well enough to articulate that he's not trans, even though he seems to be drawn to pretty things, and aroused by being forced to wear them in a sexual setting. So I loved that whole conversation. 💕

Also, trigger warning: This book has 'cest (it says that one the cover, it's Becca's thing), and some "we didn't talk about it first but we both wanted it" somnophilia (disclosed in the TWs), so I wanted to make sure everybody new!

Okay! There was a pretty transphobic comment made by a character.
