Rate this book
He will have to choose—his goddess or his princess.Devoted Knight Javarin wants nothing more than to serve his goddess and his kingdom—in particular, guarding the quiet, kind Princess Iseris. She’s stolen his heart, not that anyone can ever know the truth. Orphan temple boys can’t marry royals, even if those boys grow up to be knights.

Jav is drawn to protecting Iseris from anything and everything—but especially her older brother, the crown prince, in his quest to destroy all possible rivals to the throne.

Unfortunately, Iseris has a secret—a forbidden magic, abhorred by his goddess. Punishable by death. And those sworn to carry out the goddess’s cruel punishment? The Order of the Knights Devoted.

When the crown prince orders Jav to do his duty and murder Iseris, refusing would mean turning his back on his kingdom, his beloved goddess, and the only home he’s ever known… But how can he kill the only woman he’s ever loved?

KNIGHT DEVOTED is a sweet, romantic fantasy novella in the Enslaved Chronicles universe. Perfect for fans of forbidden love, sexy men of honor, and brave, smart heroines. It takes place south of the original Enslaved Chronicles trilogy, with new characters.

I didn't enjoy this book but it also didn't cross any of my deal breakers so... I would give this author another chance but be more wary next time.

TW- Rape. Lots of mentions of rape. Murder. Attempted murder. Violent murder. All the murder.

My issue? This was a clean adventure book set in a fantasy world. I'd call it YA, definitely similar setup to a KM Shea novel. My problem lies in the fact that the FMCs brother set her up to be raped and murdered. Not in a vague way. He literally warned her as he left her tied to her bed that she'd be bleeding tonight and something villainy about her maidenhood. That right there makes this a dark, ADULT read. Then he drugs the MMC and orders him to murder his sister. She's already tied to her bed, so it'll be easy. And he repeatedly tells the MMC to rape her and show her a good time before killing her. Wtaf??? In a YA romantasy?? Usually I reread these books before sharing them with my teens. No way in hell would I want my teens reading this. But the writing and storytelling are juvenile and geared towards a younger audience. Make up your mind!

I really enjoyed this book. It is a little different from the normal sci fi fantasy. The devoted knight that discovers that an oath of devotion to an ideal is not always the best when you discover that the ideal is flawed. The feelings of the heroine are realistic and one can empathise with her fear of death for having powers she has had from birth. The different countries with different cultures and how they interact with each other. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series and HOPE that it won't be too long for the next book.

Knight Devoted was an interesting read that ended far too quickly. (I had forgotten it was a novella!) The world was compelling and a good set-up/intro for future stories. I enjoyed the rapport with the two leads. I'm excited to read the other books in the series, although I understand that they're with other characters. I certainly hope there will be more books featuring these two!

This was such a good read! A well written, interesting and intriguing novella that pulls you in from the get go. With beautiful and descriptive world building and wonderful characters as we follow their incredible journey and feel their dilemmas and troubles. Gripping and exciting, this was a great read that i throughly enjoyed and look forward to reading more from this universe.
