A man can be stronger than the pain of his past.

Justice –
They were damned good together.
Until he royally screwed up and lost Fisher for good.
And regrets don’t do shit for him now.
He’d do anything to make it right, but he couldn’t break through the hate.
One thing was clear though, he’d give anything to have Fisher in his arms again.
Only Fisher won’t forgive him.

Fisher –
He’d messed up getting involved with Justice.
That much he was sure of, if not much else.
Now all he can do is weave and bob until shit starts surfacing.
Then Fisher wants retribution.
But Justice can’t be reached.
And that pisses him off... Justice doesn’t get to be mad.

Back to the multiple death count and confusing plots

I know I've said it before, but these books make you keep reading even while you're shaking your head at the insanity of what's going on.

There's far too many characters from the other different series' included here for it to ever be a standalone and we get the introduction to the latest new "mystery black ops unit" which I'm sure makes it about six the President of the USA is now apparently running secretly!

Still, all the usual mayhem aside, Fisher and Justice are a solid pairing that I could see working out long term. I'd have liked them to spend more time actually together than they do here, the "romance" part of this book got left a little bit on the sidelines.

Oh and there's one scene where I'm pretty sure physics doesn't work that way but I just let it slide.

I'm guessing it'll be Real and Azrael next, big age gap there if so, I'm not sure how that would go.

I didn't like this book at all even though I was hooked at first.

Reasons:
BORING
Not enough scenes with the main characters together interacting. That right there ruined the book for me.

For chapters and chapters I had to listen to this boring story which was too predictable to maintain my interest.

I had to skip chapters of the most boring dialogue I've ever read. Blah blah blah. None of it was interesting.

I couldn't even get through the epilogue without being bored

I like books where the author writes a strong romantic love connection between the MC's.

This is my second book from this author and I've felt the same way in both books. This book really made me miserable while I was reading it. It was almost physically painful to get through this.

I feel as though the author tricked the reader by writing a strong angst in the beginning in order to keep the reader engaged enough to see how the two MC's would get back together. Yup, a dreaded break up where the two MC's don't interact throughout the book.

Mindless drivel of people trying to find out what was going on that was the entire book.

I wouldn't even consider this a romance novel.

I'm so done with this author.

# "Agony" - A Thrilling Addition to the Erebus Assassins Series

As a devoted fan of this author, I found "Agony" to be an exhilarating continuation of the Erebus Assassins series. This latest installment centers around Justice and Fisher, two of the deadliest assassins in the agency, as they're paired for a series of high-stakes missions.

## Characters and Chemistry

The undeniable chemistry between Justice and Fisher sizzles from the start, despite their initial lack of trust. Justice's attempt to temper his domineering nature at Fisher's request adds an intriguing dynamic to their evolving relationship. As they work together, their bond deepens, creating a captivating emotional journey for readers.

## Conflict and Growth

The author skillfully weaves conflict into the narrative through misunderstandings stemming from Fisher's hidden traumatic past and Justice's own painful history. A pivotal incident drives a wedge between them, prompting Justice to embark on a mission of redemption. His relentless pursuit of reconciliation over weeks and months showcases character growth and determination.

## Resolution

Despite seemingly insurmountable odds, Justice and Fisher slowly find their way back to each other. Their journey culminates in a satisfying and hard-earned happy ending that feels authentic to their characters and the challenges they've overcome.

## Final Thoughts

"Agony" is a testament to the author's ability to craft complex characters and maintain the thrilling atmosphere of the Erebus Assassins world. The blend of action, romance, and personal growth makes this installment a standout in the series. As a reader, I eagerly anticipate future books set in this captivating universe.

Not a standalone. Please read book 1 if you dont want to be lost.

TRIGGERS Warning: violénce, lânguage, bløød... a lot of them, deãths, wheãpoŋs, ãss@ssîns. K!dnapp!ng, kids @bductions and tőrtures. AND SO MUCH MORE.

One thing I love a lot about this author is that she didnt follow the 25% meet, 50%seggs, 75% broke up. Heck no. Its frigging hot from the start. The chemistry, the magnetic between them, is pulsy hot. And none on the non following order is disfonctionnal of the book. Of course not. It's entertaining, You can't predict what's coming next, it's push us on our toe and get whipplash like you coulnt even imagine. It's phenomenal, a-ma-zing!

Once again, the characters are complete. And what I mean is that they have a past, emotional baggage with them, torments that haunt them, fears that they dread, and that even though they're doing cold work, they're dreaming of a simplistic future that seems unachievable. At every turn, I break with them, I'm in the action with them, which feels fast and even morbid. I'm also confused a few time with them, and at the same time very surprised by the whipplash in some places. I assure you that you are not ready for this kind of betrayal.

Immerse yourself in this book and discover the past trying to fight his own demon. Alone. A powerless partner who tries to understand, to help, but who only makes things worse. Is their relationship salvageable? Will they be able to pull through? Will they succeed in eliminating the enemy?

Sometimes you just want to forget about your past and build all these walls around you, against people because you know they can hurt you. Sometime the unknowing can also broke you apart..... Who knew?

Agony is book two of Reese Knightley’s Erebus Assassins series. Justice and Fisher finally get their story. They have been dancing around each other for a while and we have gotten peaks at them through several of Reese’s other books. Justice is former military. Fisher grew up in a horrifically abusive situation with other young boys and was trained from a young age to be an assassin. He got out at 18 and joined the Navy but came back to try and rescue his brother by bond, Echo and Rogue. By that time, the man responsible had thoroughly hidden his background and been appointed as head of Erebus where he was running his boys as most of his new Assassins Team. That all came to a head in Broken, book one, the bad guy is dead and gone, and new team members have been brought into Erebus with a new head of the agency. Savage starts pairing the guys on assignments instead of having them run solo and Justice says he’ll only pair with Fisher who he has been secretly pining over. Fisher understandably has a lot of issues and is really skittish. Dave, the former SecDef is still moving pieces around on the board and we’ll see a lot of joint ops with Genesis, the military equivalent to Erebus.
No spoilers in this review. Justice and Fisher get their HEA but come as close to it never happening as I’ve seen in any of her books. As always Reese has an overarching plot that connects a number of characters from many of her earlier series.
I highly recommend reading Broken first. I look forward to seeing this spin off into a Genesis series next.

I waited for Fisher's book since he was introduced in Operation Justice Force. And I was not disappointed, although surprised with some things.
In the 1st installment of this series, it seemed as if Fisher and Justice knew each other for a very long time and just played a game of mouse and cat. And here it turns out they haven't known each other that long, and their romance is totally new development.
The Prologue was very confusing, but when you will read the whole book it will make sense.
It was a bit chaotic at first, with Fisher being all over the place, Justice having a strong sense of guilt, but I think the chaos was totally planned here and all the information and other important bits and pieces played out nicely in the end.
So all in all it was a very great read and I'm relieved that I finally got to know Fisher's HEA.

We also get a snippet of Dave and Stone (and fortunately from what I saw, their book is already out or will be this year, so finally some closure for them lol, 'cause the author definitely teased us with their story for the last couple books), also I loved the (very) short but kinda cute interactions of Azrael and Real in the previous as well as this book (I hope that maybe the next series will be about Genesis, and they will be the first pair we get to see; all the characters seem very interesting, although the team is being introduced rather than already fully blown operating, so there's not that much info about them yet).

Pairing ranking:
1. Ice & Echo
2. Fisher & Justice

Hero Assassins

Justice has been a bit of a mystery, Fisher has been tickling our curiosity for a while now. Solomon is dead, but nothing is ever wrapped up that neat and tidy. Hears starts the clean up.

I wavered between 3 and 4 stars, in the end this story was compelling, fast paced, and Alex bumped it over the edge (that dog has a story)
Here’s the rub, I’ve expressed this opinion before, I feel like as a reader I’m sold short by inconsistencies within a series or even a crossover. We are supposed to be vested in this universe, loyalty keeps us coming back for more…Yet, we also are supposed to conveniently forget previously written details. Justice stops Fisher from killing Ice, the narrative in that exchange clearly states they have a past, and here we start off completely tossing that out the window.
Lastly, Dave’s not getting any younger, what’s the holding them back

This was a dark and passionate story as Justice and Fisher fought demons as well as those who weaponised children. Lots of emotions, feelings and passion between the two men. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Confusing start but action packed finish

The first half or so of the book I was very confused. I really felt like I had been dropped into the middle of something. In the second half of the book I felt like I got a bit more of a handle on things and then the action of the main storyline kicked in and I was all in.

Many of these characters are familiar from books in other series as this is all part of the same universe. Some of them I recognized and others I didn’t. I’d recommend reading the books in order, if there’s a specific reading order listed somewhere, in order to fully understand who all these players are. It seems taken for granted that we will know and that led to my confusion. Like I was supposed to know all these people and their stories.

Justice and Fisher have had this cat and mouse game going on for a couple books. I could definitely tell something was going to come to a head soon, either fighting or f*cking. Fisher doesn’t trust easy, understandably so given his past, which is royally f*cked. Justice has been the first person to even crack his armor, other than the men he calls his brothers. They weathered the storms with him growing up. So when Justice f*cks up by following orders to keep Fisher safe, Fisher can’t see past his blinding rage. Rogue and Echo are there to pick him up, literally. I love the connection between these three, they are brothers in every sense of the word except blood. Justice and Wrath, brothers by blood despite being at odds, still got each others back when sh*t hits the fan. This one has an overarching plot that connects some of the other series and characters. Not necessary to read them all prior but things will make a lot more since if you do. I loved seeing characters and couples I already knew and looking forward to seeing the new potential stories forged from this book.

I love reading this author’s works. Agony features Justice and Fisher. Justice and Fisher are paired together for a few jobs. When Fisher complains that Justice is too overbearing, he promises to tone it down. As the weeks go by, they give in to temptation as their chemistry is off the charts. With Justice not knowing Fisher’s past, he does something that makes Fisher mad. As the weeks and months go by, Justice is out to find him to let him know he is sorry. When Justice finds him and finds out what happened, they slowly make their way back to their happy ever after. I love this world and cannot wait to read more.

I'm sorry, but this book was a disjointed mess and before someone says I must not have read Book 1 I did read Book 1 and still think Book 2 was a disjointed mess. The thread of the storyline between the two books was there and stayed true throughout, however, where the author went wrong in my opinion was her attempt at bringing in the characters from her other series and blending them into this series. It became a constant case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand was doing and there was no communication between anyone. For supposedly "elite" assassins and best of the best former military these guys came across like a bunch of wanna-be's. I expected more from this author.

Justice

I know I wouldn’t ever want to have a reason for Erebus to find me but I wouldn’t pass up a chance meeting. This team is an adrenaline rush and then some! “He knew that the agony of his youth would rear its ugly head, but with Justice by his side, anything was possible.” Fisher and Justice’s story wasn’t easy to read and my heart broke for everything Fisher survived. He is beyond strong and I’m so glad he has friends turned family who look out for him, along with the ever protective Justice to fight for him and forever by his side.

I was looking forward to Fisher’s story as one of my favorite characters, but just as Hunter and Seven’s (my other favorites) book, it was lacking. The MLs stay apart for a good portion of the book and Justice’s mistake had me seething for too long. There are a lot of unnecessary details but the important conversation happened in about a page. All the key parts felt rushed.
Also, now there’s a whole new unit…hoping Crow and Steel’s story comes first because I’m not looking forward to the age gap with a barely off age teen involved. Will evaluate if I finish this series.

Wow what can say but Reese knightly never disappoints. She always leaving you wanting more. Fisher is a broken man but meets Justice and realizes maybe he can have a life with someone.

Justice is head of heels for fisher but knows something bad happened to the young assassin. He makes a huge mistake thinking he’s protecting fisher but instead he lost him.

Fisher who suffers from cPTSD doesn’t remember a lot from his past and when justice betrays him he goes on a bender not realizing why he needed to until what justice to him comes back full force.

Both men work through their issues and eventually come back together to get their hard won happy ending. This is a fat paced action packed story you won’t want to end. Can’t wait to see what Reese Knightly comes up with next.

The story of Fisher and Justice is emotional, heartbreaking in some places and heartwarming in others.
Fisher has a similar history to Echo but there are things in his past he can't remember. Things that haunt him. Things that come roaring back after Justice's mistake.
Justice has jumped on the chance to work with Fisher and get closer to him. Now he seem to have ruined everything with Fisher. He will try everything to get Fisher back.

Another great book by Reese Knightley but full of so much pain and horror. I was glad that Tanis got what he deserved and suffered while he was dying and that Fisher was able to forgive Justice and did remember more of his past though it was hard to read about it. Wish more abusers in real life got what they really deserved from groups like Erebus and Pegasus.

I usually enjoy reading RK's work but I do not like this series. It' was to dark and gritty for me

Reese you went a little to gritty and the level of abuse and the killing of the innocent was a bit much. Usually when I'm finish reading your work my thoughts is Reese did it again. Please don't continue the rest of this series in this manner.

I love this series, there are multiple series in these books. We have several different organizations that hunt and kill mad men that the police cannot touch. This one delves into a child abduction ring and you get quite a background on a few of the main characters. Definitely trigger warnings should be read before attempting this series.

DNF.
Was hard to follow the action and the characters. Couldn’t figure out the motivations and why people were being shot and by whom. The point of view changes throughout a chapter also confused me. It was hard to keep track of everyone.

Agony is the second book in the Erebus series, this is not a standalone and you should really read the first book before this one, and for more fun read all the other books in Reese's world. Justice and Fisher are just hot right from the start, I love the action and all of these guys.

SO MANY CHARACTERS!!! I love Reese Knightly but I had a really hard time getting through this one. There are flat out too many characters to keep up with in her most recent books. 5his one didn't do it for me mostly because of the push and pull.

The first 2 are well written, interesting and binge -worthy. Some characters are familiar. I really, really liked the ending: heroes:10 and villains: 0. I’m a sucker for happily ever after.

An okay read

Sometimes I have a bit of trouble with the writing style. It has multiple POVs just at random throughout. So sometimes I had to go back while listening to make sure I was following. The story is good.

The mysterious Fisher is here with a heartbreaking background and more trust issues than anyone should be burden with. Justice had to wait patiently on Fisher who eventually came around for their happily ever after.
