Whoever said all was fair in love and war, was full of it!
It all started when I met a handsome stranger at a fundraising gala, and had fun pretending we were engaged to get an obsessed woman off his back. It was just one evening, and nobody else would ever hear about it.
When he shows up at my restaurant and says he plans to buy it, but he'll let me continue as the head chef—I lose it, along with scoops of mashed potatoes flying at his face!
How dare this arrogant jerk come in here and try to yank my dream out from under me? This is WAR!
But then the restaurant owners hear the rumors of our engagement and force us to partner together to make the restaurant a success, or they'll sell to a franchise and we'll lose the whole thing.
This is surely a recipe for disaster and heartbreak. There's no way it can work. Is there?
Pushed is a sweet, enemies to lovers, fake relationship romcom. Loaded with witty banter, outrageous pranks, a meddling matchmaker, swoony kisses, and small-town charm. All the fun and feels, without the spice or swears.
Honestly, this book had me captivated from the first page. I love how I giggled non stop. And my favourite scene was the mashed potato scene - I laughed so hard. Or it was the serving of the criadillas. Basically I could pick out a lot of scenes that could be my favourite, not only was this funny and sweet, yet it was different from all the other Romcoms that I have read. Definitely would recommend.

This is book three of the Moonlit Lake Matchmaker series and the main characters are Jasper Rhodes , who has returned to his family farm hoping to persuade his father about his business plan to buy a restaurant in town and transform it into a farm to table restaurant, and will soon find himself at odds with chef AJ (Aurora) Scott, who has been trying to get the owner of the restaurant she works in to allow her to bring in some of her own ideas for the menu, with the hope she can buy the restaurant when he retires in the hopefully, near future. Added to the mix is an old woman who is Jasper’s family neighbour, Tillie Devine, who grows her own herbs, flowers and medicinal plants, that she then uses to make products to sell in her own shop, D-Vine Blessings. She is also somewhat of a secret matchmaker, with the air of a wee magical touch and insists on using her magic to pick the next pair who will fall in love. When Jasper’s mum sends him round with something for Tillie, she offers him an expensive ticket to a charity gala to fight world hunger, which she can’t go to and which would be a perfect place for him to network for his new business! Tillie also works her magic on AJ, giving her a ticket to the same charity gala, and her best friends from when she used to live in the big city, come to help hr prepare and one of them brings two beautiful outfits for her to try knowing her usual chef outfits or slobbing about at home clothes won’t do!
AJ is sent on her way by her friends and told to have a bit of fun for once, maybe even find a man and have a night to remember, never mind all the networking she should be able to do and contacts she could make as she discusses her ideas for her restaurant. As Jasper is working his way around the room of the gala, meeting many people he already knows from the business world, a lot show interest in his plan, when he gets distracted by the most beautiful woman he has ever seen, entering the room. He tries to reach her, btu keeps getting stopped on the way, losing sight of her and then dinner is announced. When he sits at his table, he is amazed to find the mystery woman sat right beside him at their table! He tries to chat her up, using the name on her place card, a name she hates and no longer uses, which doesn’t exactly go down well. Just as he tries to get her to acknowledge him and hopefully beg him for a date, he hears a voice that terrifies him. He turns to AJ and asks her for a favour and without her answer, he kisses her, hoping to get his crazy stalker to leave him alone! The woman isn’t that easily dissuaded, and Jasper quickly makes it seem like their relationship is a lot more and that Aurora has stolen his heart, and he is engaged to her. The kiss between them has certainly set off different reactions in them both and Aurora decides to play along to have a night of fun as her friends told her to, but neither is looking for anything like love or any distraction from their dreams.
Their night together somehow reaches locals in town, with some hearing they are engaged! But matters at the restaurant take a sudden turn for both of them, as the owner takes ill and the family want to sell. AJ and Jasper both put their offers in, but soon find that the family want to sell to the two of them, Jasper for his business expertise and AJ for her cooking skills, as neither has all the skills required to ensure the restaurant would be a success and continue the family’s legacy. News of their engagement leaves the family of the owner giving them a trial period to make a profit, rather than selling it to strangers, so now their fake engagement must continue and they will have to work together, whether they want to or not, or both their dreams will be destroyed! He has stepped away from his main job as a business consultant, to work remotely, with his team doing most of the work, while he worked on his own plans. He had hoped his father would let him take over some of the work on the family farm, so he could learn more about the business and orders he sends to other restaurants already, but his father doesn’t want his help. He doesn’t believe Jasper will stick around! AJ makes it plain to Jasper that their relationship is business only, but he thinks she is his perfect woman and he can’t stop wanting to be close to her and touch her, especially as they have to continue their fake engagement! Work pressures and sudden family issues throw a spanner in their dreams and could see all their hard work be destroyed by circumstances and one very loud-mouthed stalker. Making up for a lack of telling the other how you feel, before everything goes pear-shaped, leaves heartbreak on the horizon as hopes fade. One of them must make a huge move to show their true feelings for the other and how much they would sacrifice for the other, even if it means losing their own dream. A fun read with a magical touch of the meddlesome matchmaker in the background!
I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout, and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Meet Jasper and Aurora (AJ) in book three of Kristeen’s Moonlit Lake Matchmaker series. This is the first book I read in this interconnected series, but I will definitely be reading the others!!
Both of our MCs have their eye on a restaurant in their small town. Jasper wants to create a farm to table experience in his town, while AJ wants to own her own restaurant and have creative freedom with the menu. As the two put their plans in motion and begin to speak with the owner, the town’s eclectic member, Tillie, decides to play matchmaker. She has a knack for it; although she claims it is a touch of whimsical magic. I loved her character!!
They find themselves at the same gala, where Jasper needs a quick escape from someone and that escape is found in AJ’s lips. This kiss ignites feelings they are unable to deal with in the moment, as the past still comes barreling forward. What else to do, but go deeper and deeper with a person you just met? Jasper somewhat panics and in a matter of minutes, they have gone from their first kiss to being engaged. And word travels fast in a small town.
Due to their engagement the restaurant is given to them on a trial basis. They have three months to show they know what they are doing and can turn business around. They each know they can strive on their own, but what they aren’t prepared for is how they soar together. Can their partnership, which started of a rouse and lead to a business opportunity, really be more? Has Tillie done it again?
Kristeen writes a story that had me laughing and giggling throughout. There were serious moments, but the overall book is not serious. It is whimsical, sweet, and swoony. I enjoyed her writing style, the pace of the book, look forward to reading more of her!
As always review trigger warnings before reading.
Tropes: 💍Fake Engagement 💕Small Town Romance 💍Coming Home 💕Enemies to Lovers 💍Group Chats
This is the third story in the Moonlit Lake Matchmaker series, but can be read as a standalone. Is there someone that you loathe - and even just looking at them brings out the worst in you? Would you go so far as to fling food in their face?
If not, good on you.
If however, the urge to throw food (or any other object near you) is within your powers, then Jasper and AJ are the IT enemies-lovers couple that you need to dive into and enjoy. You will feel all of the emotions with them as they join forces with a fake engagement to save their individual dreams.
"She was at least intrigued by me, if not interested. There was hope. My siblings would tease me mercilessly for saying so recently that I didn't want romance, but I didn't care. A man could change his mind. Should change his mind when confronting destiny. I could live with their harassment, But, strange as it was after this one magical moment, I wasn't sure I could live without kissing her again. That kiss had definitely not been platonic or fake. Not even the best actor could fake that kind of heat. There was something between us. Something more powerful than anything I'd ever experienced. I had a feeling this connection was special, and not to be ignored. By the end of the evening, I intended to make sure she realized it, too. And melt away more of her ice while I was at it."
Things I love in this book: The pranks!!! (especially the photos) Sibling group chats Best friends group chats Meddling matchmaker (Tillie, I see you!) Popcorn question game First kiss impromptu fun Second kiss - full of swoon worthy fire!
CW: Sweet and swoony kisses only rom com. Also, there is a bull castration - mentioned in a funny way as part of a prank (As Jasper works on a farm) and then later on it is made into a gourmet dish. You can easily skim these parts (there is a sibling group chat with teasing and other casual sporadic mentions of teasing about it) and still maintain the storyline.
Thank you to the author for a complimentary copy. All thoughts expressed are my own.
Really enjoyed this book! It is a great continuation of the series. The H and h start out as strong enemies, both want to purchase the same restaurant. The sellers decide that based on the rumor that they are engaged, they won’t decide whom they will sell it to until they have run the restaurant for 3 months to see if they are successful in running it. The H has the financial knowledge and the h is the incredible cook. Slowly they learn how to work together and are successful in turning the failing restaurant around. When the truth comes out that they are not engaged the children of the owner become angry and tell them they cannot buy the restaurant. Both the H and h are greatly disappointed. They finish up the 3 months and then when meeting with the children offer up their recommendations as to whom they should sell to. Each recommends the other and who could her or he. The H informs the children that the restaurant was months away from bankruptcy before they took over. They should seek it to the h and he could recommend a good person to handle the finances and publicity, and the restaurant would be successful and into the future. The h recommends a cook to take her place and work with the h. In the end the children sell it to the H and h realizing that it would result in what they desire, a continuation of their father’s dream. The H and the h declare their love for each other and theH proposes to the h and she says yes.
Is a sweet small town, enemies to lovers, fake engagement romantic comedy with no cliffhanger Some of the lines I really like ----- “Not everything goes according to plan, especially not love. It’s likely to knock you upside the head when you least expect it. Just don’t resist it, because when you’re open to love and all that comes with it, that’s when the magic really happens. Along with love comes opportunities you never dreamed of that will manifest right in front of your eyes.” ----- A man could change his mind. Should change his mind when confronting destiny. ----- Do it. Be bold. Go after what you want for once. ----- ----- “Isn’t it interesting how things work out in ways we never would have imagined?” --------- I hope you learn from your dad’s mistakes. Don’t work yourself into an early grave. That’s not what life’s all about. Make sure you save time for what matters most.” ------ “Love comes in all shapes and sizes. And not only when it’s convenient, either.” -------- I loved AJ and Jasper's story and I'm sure you will too. I received a free ARC and this is my honest opinion.
A LOL fun read! - Jasper and AJ are a great combo from the start. When he kisses her and announces their engagement to run his stalker off, she ups the ante and they spend the evening in coupled bliss. A ruse that will bite them later. When they wind up working together to buy the restaurant she works at, their competitive streaks have them engaging in a prank war that will end with him eating something so much worse than crow. I almost choked I was laughing so hard. Her sheer determination to realize her dream, and her snark and fire made him love her. The mischievous twinkle in his eyes and his mind-blowing kisses won her heart. Tillie is on a roll with getting the Rhodes kids paired up. A great read from beginning to end, with a cast of loveable siblings who know how to put their jokester brother in his place.

A little meddling matchmaking “pushed” another Rhodes sibling to find love. Such a fun story! I really enjoyed it. The romance was great and had entertaining ups and downs, from first meeting, to conflict, to reluctant fake relationship. Two words: prank war. Enough said. (But of course I will say more.) There were some really humorous moments and interactions. Between the sometimes antagonistic main characters as well as the sibling group. I’m always here for sibling teasing, banter, and group texts. The restaurant and small town settings added interest to the story. This is the third book in this series focused on the Rhodes siblings. There is carryover but this book can be read as a standalone. This is a closed door romance with no harsh language.

This book is a sweet and clean, small town romance. There were a few items that were cons for me: the reading of cards by a bit of a. “psychic” and a gay male side character. And now for the pros. I liked the idea of a farm to table restaurant. I liked the small town aspect. I liked the familial involvement. I liked the fun meet cute and the touch of reverse rescuer. A fake relationship that grew legs of its own and walked off! Lol. But really, seriously, that’s how this romantic comedy went. Business ventures and pranks, family and friends, a small town, games, food, and more.
I received an ARC of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
My favourite one so far in the series! Not because Kristeen writing has improved, she was excellent before, but I am now so invested in the characters and looking forward to their own stories that I enjoy it so much more. A first chance at love when both of them had already made up their mind that they didn't have time for a relationship nor cared for one, but when love finds you it doesn't ask for permission, it just puts your world upside down and leaves you wondering how could you survived without it for this long. Pushed will have you smiling, rooting and cheering for AJ and Jasper. And I must add that the epilogue made me a happy gal!
What can I say about this great book? Well it was written by a mighty fine author for starters . Kristeen Groth has her finger on the pulse of writing great RomCom stories. AJ and Jasper sworn enemies to swoony lovers ….over mash potatoes? He’s arrogant enough to tell her he plans to buy her restaurant but she can still stay on as head chef…. Haha NOT funny….except it was…..very funny writing by this great author . Laugh a minute with a fine romance food flinging and all. Brilliant read!! Loved every page. Bravo Ms Groth , your comedic timing is sublime. Matchmakers are very cunning indeed. Splendid read! I’m leaving my review voluntarily in my own words
I have not read the other books in the series (though I loved this one so much I plan to). I did not have any issues understanding what was happening.
AJ is a talented chef but she is hampered by the restaurant’s owner who doesn’t want to change a thing. Jasper wants to own a restaurant that focuses on farm-to-table. Neither is looking for love. But a prank goes wrong and now they have to make people believe they are engaged.
This was a book that made me smile and has characters you can really like.

I wanted a quick read but also a good story behind it, but I'm so glad I downloaded Pushed by Kristeen Groth instead. This is book 3 in the Moonlit Lake Matchmaker series and I loved the main characters and the development of the relationship. A small town charm with fun banter, homey feeling, family and a enemies to lovers page turner that put me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t put it down. Kristeen is a new author to me and I will be reading more of her books I highly recommend this book and you won’t be disappointed!.

This book had me laughing out loud almost from the start; AJ and Jasper are adorable as they pretend an engagement to dissuade an obsessed Jasper-fan (aka, former date - not relationship, just a date). When it comes out that AJ and Jasper are "competing" (in AJ's mind; Jasper's already all in!) to buy the same restaurant, all bets are off - let the pranking begin!
Between the pranks, the group texts and the relationships - both the main characters' bond and the familial and friend bonds that were explored - Pushed kept me smiling from start to finish. A quick but filling treat!!.

Audiobook: I enjoyed book three as much as the first two in the series. This story was based on one of my most favorite tropes that of fake relationships. I adored Tilly and her machinations. I liked that Aurora's and Jasper's relationship went through such a circuitous path. I was entertained by several humorous incidents which occurred. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. I was entertained by the male and female simulated voices which provided the narration for this audiobook. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
I loved it! A sweet romance with the perfect amount of humor and banter. Both Jasper and AJ were very likable, and I thought the pranks they pulled on each other were creative and funny. This is a clean romance, but there's still a lot of chemistry displayed between the couple and some heated kisses. I recommend it if you're looking for something romantic, light, and entertaining with a cute, humorous story with a fake relationship trope.

"Whoever said all was fair in love and war, was full of it!" Pushed was another sweet clean romance from the Moonlit Lake Matchmaker series that was so well written. This author has written such a great series and Pushed is one with great characters that had me turning the pages till the end. I loved the plot of this book and the romance between the two main characters was so sweet. I enjoyed this one a lot and would recommend this series and Pushed to any romance readers. Thank you to the author for this book in exchange of my honest review of Pushed.
A return to Moonlit Lake finds Tillie gifting Jasper and AJ with tickets to a gala event that throws the two of them into a whirlwind of adventure that pushes them out of their comfort zones and teaches them about trust, love and growth...
I love Jasper's family, and their banter. I also enjoyed AJ's friends, especially Javi. And Junior certainly added an extra element of fun and comedic relief to the story.
A really enjoyable read...

A small town Cinderella, Romantic Comedy! A meddlesome matchmaker gives two stubborn soulmates a push towards each other, in this beautifully humorous love story. This is the first book that I've read in this series, and it read perfectly as a stand-alone novella. Now, I want to read more of the series. I loved all of the characters' personalities. This is a must read for fans of Romantic Comedy, Drama, Enemies to Lovers, Country/Farm/Small Town Romance and Clean Romance. Highly Recommend!
Oh my, this book is so FANTASTIC from the beginning to the end. I loved the pranks, the fun banter and it made me laugh out loud, such a fun book! AJ thinks Jasper is her competition and Jasper is all warm and swoony. She starts off by throwing mashed potatoes at him and many other things, it had me laughing. And we can’t forget crazy Tillie and all her antics, she is such a clever matchmaker. This is a great rom-com that you don’t want to miss, so GREAT!
"What a comedic book." I loved every spice and twist and the humor in this book is just so amazing. It was beautiful and I loved the combination of Aurora and Jasper, they are just so beautiful together and I loved the vibes between them. The whole fake engagement thing to the chemistry, to the hate and the way their lives aligned was just so perfect and it made my heart thump. It was just a magic page turner and I will love to re-read it.
I'm totally hooked to this series. The romance in this one was so good. I think I love a fake fiance trope without even realizing it. Jasper might be my favorite of the siblings. His and AJs pranks and their back and forth were so funny. I really loved the group chats in this. The siblings riffing on each other was so funny, I probably looked like a crazy person laughing out loud.

I enjoyed this book, this is the third book to this series that I've read by Kristeen Groth & I couldn't put it down until I finished it. I loved it. I can't wait to read the more books from this author & this series. The characters were well developed & the story was well written. I liked all the characters. It is a very good read . You need to read the book to find out want happens.

hooray I´ve just recently discovered this author but I have already added her to my favourites list. The way her matchmakers always choose the most unconventional ways to make two blindsided people meant to be together see the light is just hilarious and the sparks flying between the protagonists just adds to the readers´ entertainment.
"Pushed" by Kristen Groth, and I must say it was an enjoyable enemies-to-lovers romcom. The character development and the dialogue, particularly with Jasper and his family, were highlights for me. Despite following a typical romance storyline with its trials and tribulations, the overall storytelling was well-rounded
AJ & Jasper: Book 3 of Moonlit Lake Matchmaker: Fake relationship/ enemies to lovers/ sweet & clean workplace RomCom: Standalone. Loved AJ & Jasper’s banter and chemistry. This was my first book by Kristeen Groth. I thought it was a well written and fun RomCom. I look forward to reading more in this series.
Cute romcom style story. Fate, magic, whatever it was that "Pushed" Jasper and AJ together was definitely working hard. They are made for each other and are a great couple and business partners. This is the 3rd in the series but the 1st that I read, and I'll definitely be reading about Jasper's siblings in the future!
Once more an enjoyable romcom from Kristeen Groth. The chemistry between Jasper and Aurora/AJ was palpable and I loved how sparks flew between them as they worked together at the Moonstruck Restaurant. The fake fiancée element started out fake but soon became genuine. I did think their falling in love declaration was a little too fast and I had some issues with some of the content (namely oracle cards and the gay best friend side character) but it was altogether an enjoyable book. Thanks to the author for my ARC; all opinions are mine.
I love fake dating! This book has such an adorable story to it. This is a clean romance. I have never read any of this author's books before now, but it grabbed my interest enough that I want to read the rest in the series! I recommend it for sure!
