LADY AMELIA - was in no hurry to marry, her father had selected a ma he wanted Amelia to trap into a marry - she was having none of this until he threw to sell her young sister for money, he was in a lot of debt yet continued gambling. Amelia knew she had no choice DUKE EVAN was at a masked ball with his closest friend Lord Naylor (who falls in love only to have his heartbroken every time as they only want his wealth) Evan promised to stop any young lady getting near him,and he is also aware of one young lady he believes will try to trap his friend. LET THE GAMES BEGIN - I absolutely loved this brilliant characters - LOVED EVAN. LOTS of surprises - WILL HE BE TOO LATE A MUST READ WHEN YOU THINK IT'S ALL OVER - SOMETHING ELSE HAPPENS. I RECEIVED AN ARC.
The book was great. From the beginning I was drawn in and wondered what would happen to them along the way to their Happily Ever After. I became more absorbed in the story as their relationship progressed. I liked that it didn’t take them till almost the end of the book to realize they loved each other. The girls’ father was shockingly far more horrible than expected. The way Evan took him down to the level he deserved was great. There were some unacceptable grammar mistakes but not so many that they detracted from enjoying the book.
Amelia is the daughter of a viscount laden with debt. His solution to the problem is to marry Amelia off to David the Marquess he owes money to. Evan, a Duke, is David’s best friend and is determined to protect his best friend from the trap being laid for him because he can see what the viscount is planning. What Evan didn’t plan is to be attracted to Amelia. As Evan works to thwart the plans of the viscount, he begins to see that Amelia’s role in the ruse is not as a willing participant. Then his focus shifts. He will do anything to save her. I enjoyed the book and the characters but it took a while for me to get into the book.
Loved this story. It had love, hate, distrust, intrigue as well as a dominating father who tried to entangle his eldest daughter into a marriage that she didn't want to appease her father's debts. It's good to see justice wins in the end, along with a marriage to a Duke who the person she so despised all her life - her father hated for a very long time. Another great read
Amelia has to marry a particular man, one way or another, or face her father’s rath. Evan, the Duke and David’s friend, is determined to keep that from happening! After all Lady Amelia Baker cannot be trusted. This is a great and twisted love story. My problem, although still enjoyable, its too long and convoluted plus it needs proofreading.
The heroine’s father is in debt so wants to marry his daughters off for financial gain. The hero is out to protect his friend from scheming females. They meet at a masquerade when she ends up kissing the wrong man. As they both try to do what they feel is right, the plot does some twisting and they get a HEA. It was an enjoyable read, but a little more proofing would have been helpful.
DNF after the 1st page. Not fair to judge a book by a page? Read this pearl and judge for yourself:
'Amelia felt sick, such that she was glad for the small alcove her friend had pulled her into because it was spinning now, and if she had been among the party goers, all that noise and all those colors, she might have loosened her bowels before she could control herself.'
First you find the right woman!!! This story takes a long time but if you are into romance back when the Ton ruled and your Father ran the household, read on. Strong characters and a very wicked father that no daughter should ever have had to deal with.
Amelia has a very selfish father but fortunately she meets Evan when her father is trying to force her to marry Evans friend. They soon become infatuated with each other and we have a wonderful steamy romance.
Excellent story with different twists and turns, loving and caring main characters that finally were able to overcome all obstacles and find their happiness together. I recommend reading this book to all romance readers.
I love historical romances and this is really good!! Even though love at first is super cute, this romance is different! The struggles of a couple is shown even in the regency era.
Wonderful characters and book. Always enjoy , only wish there had been an extended epilogue. From the problems they had with their families to the love and life they created in the end. Highly recommend! 😊
Yet the right Duke. A mistaken identity, wrong impressions, and a cruel and evil father make for a very entertaining read. It hooked me from the very first page.
