Sugar has lost all feeling. Good, bad, all emotions are completely gone, along with her memories. Adrift in a magic ocean, the paradise of children who don't grow up, she comes across a turtle who claims to be half of Sugar, and needs to escape this place.
"I will escort you out of the magic ocean, Sugar."
A bittersweet tale of self-destruction, pain, sadness, and depression.
This was a pure cover buy and if you had given me a million guesses I wouldn't have guessed what the actual premise of this story was. A beautiful manhwa that you should go into as blindly as possible.
Ok I don't really know how to rate this comic. On one hand it portrays depression incredibly well, and I fully understood all of it. However, the story feels rushed and it definitely could be an entire series if the author gave themselves the time and space to do so. I also feel like the translation wasn't that great, which isn't the fault of the original content but definitely something that makes it less enjoyable!
I don't know, it was good at times but I feel this one could have benefitted from being a series. Like 3-4 volumes instead of everything crammed into one 200 page volume. I noticed myself just slipping away, my ADHD longing for other books and other things to do. In the end I continued, and yes, I love the magical aspect, I love the way the mental health/suicide is handled and could feel it all, the characters are fab. But I just wish it had been more.
