A Heart Worth Finding: Alternate Edition

Rate this book
Sometimes, you don’t find love.

Sometimes, love finds you.

Three and a half years ago, Jack DeLuca and Jessica Daniels met in Cancun, Mexico on spring break. They connected instantly, and they spent four magical days—and nights—together.

But when that week was over, so was the strong—but admittedly ill-advised—relationship they’d built. In order to protect themselves, and see their futures pan out the way they had always planned, Jack and Jessica had to let each other go.

Now, and entirely unbeknownst to them, Jack and Jessica are both seniors at Michigan State, and the universe is about to bring them back together.

Only…not in the way they expect.

Jessica is in a long-term relationship, and Jack has recently started seeing someone he really cares about.

However, when they re-enter each other’s lives, it’s impossible to deny that old spark is still there, and fate is begging them to fan the coals of their once-burning connection. Will they give in, or will they let the fire go out once and for all?

🏒hockey romance
🏒second chance
🏒right love, wrong time
🏒college romance
🏒dual timeline
🏒dual POV

“That is the one who got away.”

First, what a perfect name for a female main character. It’s like the very best choice 🤌🏼👀

Second, I think I’ve said this before… second chance books are my weakness. Can’t resist them. Can’t help but give my soul to them. And Jessica & Jack’s story had such a sweetness to it — even through the heartbreak — that for a moment there I thought my heart was going to explode 🥹

“And for the first time in as long as he could remember, Jack DeLuca cried.”

And I cried right then and there too because ah, to be young and have your heart broken. It’s one of those defining pains that we all must go through. I agree with her, the right person but at the wrong time. Now, she is way more graceful than me because I would have lost it after finding out where he went for college 😮

I would have also lost it during the “closet” scene. Even if love wasn’t in question, I would have had some words with those two. I mean, I’m a passionate person 👀 It would’ve been impossible for me to handle that situation with calm and grace. Well done, book Jess. Well done.

Is it too much to wish for… to have books on both Logan and Nate? 👀 A girl can dream, right?

This book feels like remembering summer with a smile while enjoying hot cocoa outside on a crispy fall day 😌

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

“Yesterday, today, tomorrow, always, and forever. ”

Amanda did it again y’all. I’m addicted to all of her characters at this point. I love how Amanda pours her heart and soul into her books. And uses some of her own personal experiences in her stories. Honestly, I think that’s why I’m so connected to her characters.

Now let’s get to Jack and Jessica—I love these two so much. You can feel their chemistry on every page. They take care of each other and bring so much to the table for each other. When you look up “soulmate” in the dictionary, you’ll see “Jack + Jessica”. The quote on the front of the cover says, “souls don’t meet by simple accident.” These two are proof of that. I really enjoyed the dual POVs and dual timelines because I felt like I was a part of their journey. I love how close their friend group is. And of course I loved getting to hang out with all of my favorite characters from FTB, OTL, and ERWB. As I always say, I highly recommend reading the For the Love series in publication order.

Read if you like:
- right person, wrong time
- second chance romance
- “it’s always been you”
- hockey romance
- hilarious banter between teammates
- cinnamon roll goalie + aspiring teacher
- dual POVs
- dual timelines
- Mexico
- classic Chaperon steam
- cute nicknames
- the cutest & closest sibling relationships

Amanda, thank you for choosing me to be a part of your street team. I’m so grateful for your friendship. I’m immensely proud of you and I can’t wait to see what you come up with next! Your writing is like a fine wine. It only gets better with each page! And of course as always thank you so much for the eARC!

Amanda, Amanda, Amanda. I don't know how you do it, but you always write books that absolutely captivate me, gut me, and put me back together. This is easily one of my favorite romance series. Every single character has so much depth and relatability. I love all of the hockey boys and how they are sexy, strong, confident, and sensitive.

My absolute favorite part of this book was the past timeline POV. Oh my goodness. It was so nostalgic I could feel it. Anyone who has ever had a vacation romance, or even a summer love, will swoon. It felt like I was there. I would DIE if they didn't end up together after a whirlwind love like that. And to be honest I wasn't sure how it was going to pan out - whether it would be one of those stories where the timing is never right (*cough* Love Letter to Whiskey) or they simply would grow apart.

There was an enjoyable balance of conflict, tension, spice, and humor. I think of all of the interconnected books in this universe - this may be my favorite. Something about second chance romance and fate really does it for me.

I obviously can't wait to read more.

"Ultimately, you have to decide if you want familiarity, or...something real. The kind of love that spans miles and years and other relationships, and still finds its way home."

I absolutely adore this book. Chaperon always finds a way to take the broken parts of me and fix them in her stories. Steamy and messy and downright emotional, I loved it and devoured it immediately. Her writing is so easy, the characters are so dynamic, and the spice is perfection!

Add in that DeLuca is a goalie?
Weak at the knees before this man.
🏒 ☀️ 🥵

For those who love:
- right person, wrong time
- second chance romance
- "it's always been you"
- hockey romance
- cinnamon roll goalie + aspiring teacher
- dual POVs

“But…being here? With you? If fate isn’t the force that brought us together, then I don’t know what is.”

This was my first Amanda Chaperon book, and it definitely wont be my last! It was full of heart and so much love. I was swooning over Jack and Jessica's love story, while also cursing the time they spent apart. I loved the Nesta + Cassian and One Tree Hill references. I could tell a book lover wrote this book and it made me so happy!

Just a heads up that this is book four in an interconnected series. I wish I had paid more attention to that before I read this book. So now I just have three other books to add to my tbr, because I loved the dynamic between all the characters in this one. I definitely want to see their stories unfold.

Read if you love:
- right person, wrong time
- second chance romance
- “it’s always been you”
- hockey romance
- hilarious banter between teammates
- cinnamon roll goalie + teacher
- dual POVs
- dual timelines
- third person POV

This book is the second book in this series by Amanda and it didn’t disappoint, continuing that high standards of Every Rule worth Breaking. AHWF is a fantastic read, I enjoyed the transition from telling the story of when Jack and Jessica first met and they had an instant connection, but they moved on due to individual dreams which were their immediate focus, so they didn’t reunite until years later. The plot and each character was brilliantly written, which made this book so enjoyable to read. I would recommend this book if you love books set in a university setting, with the added element of Hockey and two main characters who had an opportunity of a second chance romance.

Jack and Jessica met three and a half years ago on spring break in Cancun in their senior year of high school. They had instant chemistry, a whirlwind romance, but agreed to go their separate ways. They decide to let fate play a part and agree if they ever run into each other, and are single, they will give dating a shot. Fast forward to today, where Jack and Jessica run into each other on their university campus. Having travelled in different groups, they didn't even know they were at the same school. When Jack and Jessica end up single on New Year's Eve they share a kiss and agree to give a relationship a shot. There are many obstacles that face them, including the end of college and what jobs they will do once they graduate.

The connection that Jack and Jessica was pretty intense right off the hop. It was insta-lovey, but a lot of time young love is like that. Once they come back together three years later, even though there is a connection they spend some time getting to know each other. I thought it was great how the couple communicated so well. Even when one was struggling, they turned to the other to talk about their thoughts and worries.

Oftentimes in a sports romance it is expected that the woman give up their dreams so the man can become famous in the NHL or at least the expectation that the woman will follow the man. That was not the case in this book, and I absolutely loved that. Jessica had dreams, just like Jack and they needed to figure out how those dreams can be achieved while still being together.

Amanda Chaperon had me worried many times throughout this book that there wasn't going to be a HEA, but do not worry, it happens in a unique and wonderful way. This was a great book about finding love at the wrong time, and being willing to give it a second chance. Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing Co-op for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.

first book read on the Kindle! 📱

alright alright alrightttt, this book is a hockey romance - which is a first for me! I'm not sure why hockey romances are so popular - where are the football, basketball, track, etc. romances??? Alas, this book is good for those who love or want to get into:

- right person, wrong time
- second chance romance
- hockey romance
- dual POVs
- dual timelines

overview: Jess and Jake met in Cancun during their spring break senior year in high school. They broke things off at the end of the trip not wanting to be tied down to this young love. Turns out, they run into each other on campus 4 years later as seniors in college. Will sparks fly or is that relationship dead and gone? 🤭

✅ THE GOOD: I loved that Jess and Jake had a strong connection right off the bat and leaned into it.
I loved that there was no third act breakup. I can relate to having dreams that supercede other things in life similar to Jess. ALSO! I love the cultural references: One Tree Hill, The Bachelor, etc. that pop up in the book! I thoroughly enjoyed the drama - the relationships between all of the characters are so intricate and dynamic!

💭 OTHER THOUGHTS: I’m not pressed to read another book by the author. I might read the book about Berkley (Jess's older sister), but tbd - it’s not high priority.

ALL IN ALL: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3 stars) and 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (3 spice peppers)

Shout out and thank you to NetGalley, Victory Editing Netgalley Co-Op, and Amanda Chaperon for allowing me to read the eARC in exhange for an honest review!!!

I love this series so much. Everything Amanda writes makes me so happy. This book was no different! Jack and Jessica are everything to me. They MIGHT have to fight Lexie and Mitch for the top spot??? I love a second chance with a dual timeline!! It was so sweet. I loved this sunshine/sunshine couple SO MUCH.

I loved the connection Jack and Jessica formed in such a short amount of time. They knew it was right, they knew they changed once they met, they KNEW. And even though they parted ways, even though Jack didn’t want it to be the end, Jess knew it was the right choice. And they never stopped thinking about each other!!!! The bracelet 🥹 the lotion 🥹 the way he immediately called her sunshine again 🥹

I loved the communication between the two of them. They weren’t messing around this time around and I LOVED it. I loved the low angst, no third act breakup. Even though Jess was worried about how it was going to work, they both had such big aspirations that were bound to take them in different directions. Jack made sure she knew everything was going to be okay because there’s way he’d lose her again. He loved her so much 🥹

I LOVED seeing everyone again. I love every single one of the characters in this little found family!! As always special shout out to Lexie and Mitch because they’re my FAVORITE. And also to Berk and Brent for being the cutest married couple ever!

Thank you so much to Netgalley, Victory Editing Netgalley Co-Op and Amanda Chaperon for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Amanda never fails to amaze me with the couples she creates in her For The Love series! Book 4 follows Jessica and Jack & their journey back to each other!

Jessica and Jack meet on a spring break trip in high school and boy is it INSTALOVE. They spend a lot of time together with a special day, a very special night and special gifts! They agree to say goodbye at the end of the trip until FAST FORWARD YEARS later when Jessica walks up to the tailgate BBQ and sees Jack.

I adored Jessica and Jack. I love a cinnamon roll man who falls first and oh so hard. Jack never let anything come between Jessica and himself. AND he never did anything slimey or questionable when she was still with her Ex.

I adored all the it was always you / fated mates moments throughout the book - from both getting looked at by Russia to the tattoo. I was squealing.

Jessica and Jack have definitely flown to the top of my For The Love couple favorite list! (although i say that ever book)

It’s giving “it was always you,” right person wrong time, hockey college romance, second chance romance.

This is the fourth book in the series, you can definitely read as a stand-alone but you will still see the other couples throughout this book so i would recommend reading in order to fall in love with all of their stories as well.

A Heart Worth Finding was a sweet and spicy second-chance college sports romance. It is the fourth book in Amanda Chaperon's For The Love series but also reads very well as a standalone! Jessica Daniels and Jack DeLuca met on spring break in Cancun almost four years ago, and their connection was almost immediate, even if it was just a vacation fling. Now, at Michigan State University, they are dating other people. After they run into each other at an event - they find out the chemistry is still there. Is it their time now for forever? As graduation and real life loom in their future, will they be over before they can even start? I really enjoy Amanda's books and the tight-knit friend group she has created. There is some miscommunication but it doesn't drag on forever (which is wonderful!) I recommend it to fans of college sports romances and second chances in love. Thank you Amanda Chaperon and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the advanced reading copy, receipt of which did not impact my review.

A heartwarming, college hockey romance featuring soulmates and second chances. Jessica and Jack had an instant connection, but decided to let each other go upon conclusion of their vacation year ago. Was it fate that brought them back into each other’s lives while in their senior year of college? I adored their journey-through their struggles, intimate spicy romance and how they leaned to open up to each other. I thought that the simultaneous timeline happening with Aiden and Kenzie’s story from Every Rule Worth Breaking (Book 1 I the Pregame series) was clever, and it was fun to be introduced to the characters in Love on the Vine series too! An enjoyable romance that showcases still getting what you want without giving up your dreams.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading A Heart Worth Finding. The story of Jessica and Jack was not like your typical love story where boy meets girl, girl falls in love and gives up everything to be with him. This book told a beautiful love story of right person, wrong time but if you just believe in a little bit of fate, you will meet again. Something that really stood out to me was that it was a story of pursuing your dreams and never faltering just because of someone else. That the right person will love and support you no matter what. That if you meet the right person, they will make sure that you are both happy and both of you are making your dreams come true together. Absolutely wonderful story and beautifully written.

Loved this one! It was super cute and I loved the continuing crossover of characters from the previous book and even a future hint to Amanda’s latest release Wine or Lose. I loved the Dual POV and Dual timeline between Jack and Jessica. Jack was perfection, and absolutely loved them together. Perfect examples of how communication between two people should be! The spice was better in this one as well!

This was a quick, cute, romance novel. I feel like I haven’t read many romance books where the love interests meet on vacation & are then reunited years later - I definitely appreciated that aspect. This book definitely reads more like a YA novel where some of the story seems unrealistic at times but overall, this is a super cute, light hearted & fun read!

Another cute read! Loved the glimpses of Traverse City life. Jessica and Jack’s relationship is adorable (but anlso intense). I’m not usually a fan of an instant connection or second chance romance, but Chaperon navigates both of those tropes so well in a way that makes the characters feel vivid and their relationship real.

"This was a heart worth finding, a heart worth waiting for, and a heart I would go to the ends of the world to keep."

I didn't realize how much I wanted (needed) Jack and Jessica's love story after I finished Kenzie and Aidens! The dual timeline for the first half was such a fun way to reminisce on Jack and Jessica's past and continue on their journey.

Thank you to Amanda for gifting me with an ARC of this story! I can't wait for it to be shared with everyone else!

This is my first Amanda Chaperon read and I had such a great time. I might read the rest of the series to learn more about the characters mentioned in this one. There's definitely some strong found family vibes so I'd like to see how it all came together in the previous books.

Jack and Jess meet for the first time while on vacation in Mexico during their senior year of high school. They instantly hit it off, and spend all of their time together for the remainder of the trip. Their connection is undeniable and all-consuming. They agree to keep their relationship in Mexico, leaving it all behind when they part ways as they're preparing for college and pursuing their individual dreams. Three years later, they meet again, unaware of the fact that they've been studying at the same campus the whole time - and they're both in relationships. The two are forced to face their feelings as they navigate planning their lives to achieve their goals and go after their dream careers.

I'm a huge fan of dual timeline, second chance romances and this was done well! Initially, I was hesitant about the whole insta-lovey kind of trope, seeing as Jack and Jessica met on vacation - but then I remembered they're only 18 when it happens, and that made things more realistic for me. Jack is super sweet, he's incredibly attentive to Jess's wants and needs and will do absolutely everything he can to support her and make sure she's happy. Jess is such a headstrong character, she goes after what she wants and she'll do anything to achieve her goals. They're both emotionally mature and continuously honest with each other about what's going on in their lives professionally and with their feelings, which was really refreshing to read!

Overall this was a fun, light read. I really enjoyed it. Thank you so much to NetGalley and Amanda Chaperon for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

"Ultimately, you have to decide if you want familiarity, or...something real. The kind of love that spans miles and years and other relationships, and still finds its way home."

Jack and Jessica meet during their spring break vacation at Cancun. Their connection was immediately, giving them the chance to have a summer romance of their life. Everything was great, until the last day of vacation comes and they decided to go in separate ways, promised each other that, if the universe gives them the chance to find each other again, they will try a relationship.

Three years later, they see each other again in a college party, finding out that for the last three years both were in the same place, without know it. There are so many connection between them that it is a surprise that they never meet before, but it was because they weren't ready until now.

This is a love story about how meet the right person in the wrong moment is never the ned of that relationship. How put your dreams over the possibility of have the best relationship is not a bad move when you're sure that this is not your time.

Im not going to lie and said that I love everything about the book. There were moments where I wanted to scream too Jessica to stop pushing Jack away, but at the same time I wanted to hug her for the only reason that the was always following her dreams.

Jack. Dear Jack. He stole my heart from the first moment I read about him. I loved how he scarifies everything for her. How his love was so huge that he would do everything for her, and he did,

I know this is the 4th book of this serie, but it was not necessary to read the other ones to read this one, but for sure I added them to my tar.

Thank you to NetGalley, Amanda Chaperon and Victory Editing Co-op for the opportunity to read this ARC

I feel like every new release that Amanda Chaperon puts out is my new favorite of hers, and A Heart Worth Finding is no exception. Jess and Jack were a dream to read about.

For me, this book was all about the seconds: the second NA/college-age romance from Chaperon, the second Daniels sibling to get her own story, second chances at love for Jack and Jess, and - one of my favorite parts - a second timeline. All of these seconds fell into place to create a premier hockey romance.

There was just something special about Jack and Jess. Maybe it was the way they fell hard and fast for each other, and then fell slow and steady. They were able to build a steady foundation for their relationship that the previous couples in this series couldn't do, and that really stood out to me. I do love a good second-chance romance, and Chaperon did an excellent job at playing it out over both timelines.

This book has some of Chaperon's best character growth. We've seen her characters grow and change throughout the course of the previous three books, but Amanda really got to flex her character development in this one as Jess and Jack had three and half very pivotal years of growing up to do. Jessica and Jack perfectly encapsulated life at two important junctures in life, and I loved seeing how they handle life throughout the dual timelines.

Overall, this was another fantastic romance from Chaperon. Even as we seemingly focus less and less on hockey as the series progresses, Chaperon expertly uses dual POV and dual timelines to bring readers closer to her characters than ever before. I loved the journey that Jack and Jess went on in this book, and I can't wait to see what Chaperon has in store for us next.

This book was SO CUTE!!! I haven’t read any of the other books from this series, but I will be after reading this.

Jack and Jessica meet on spring break their senior year of high school while on vacation in Mexico. They have this whirlwind romance that lasts 4 days and then they go their separate ways.. They make a deal on their last night in Mexico that should fate bring them back together again, they would give their relationship a real shot.

Fast forward 3.5 years and Jack and Jessica run into each other. On the Michigan State University campus. Where they’ve both been attending for the last 3 years. It seems like fate wasn’t done with the 2 of them just yet!

While both are in relationships, they come to find out their significant others are actually best friends. While Jack knew about Silas, he had never met his supposed girlfriend. But Jessica had no idea Sofia existed in Silas’ life. When both Jack and Jessica end up single on NYE, Jack drives 3 hours to get to her because he’s not losing his chance again. This moment was so sweet for me because it shows how much he cares about her even though they were apart for so long🥹

While they may be finally back together, there are many obstacles these 2 face in their final semester at Michigan State. Will Jack play professional hockey in the states?! Will Jessica leave the country to teach english?! So many things were up in the air and the way these 2 pushed through everything was just perfect. I love how they can joke with each other about everything and they learn to communicate so well.

This book was more than I hoped it would be and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!!

Once again, I want to thank NetGalley for this wonderful opportunity.

This is the first time I read a book by Amanda, and she did not disappoint.

I will talk briefly about what bothered me in this book, because I still enjoyed my reading whatsoever.

When we were reading the book, we had some sort of double POV, but written in a third person. In my opinion, it is not useful to separate POVs when you write in the third person. Since you’re having an omniscient point of view describing Jack’s POV, and Jessica POV’s as if you were in their heads, it is not useful.

And also in the writing, it was a bit cringe at some times. So it took me out of the reading. But overall, I could still read this book and enjoy it.

Now let’s start.

I usually don’t read the “second chance” trope because it’s either not done well, or very cliché. However, this time it was brought in a way that I liked. The two main characters are in a trope of “right person wrong time” even if for me, it doesn’t exist in real life. I love when it happens in a book.

You can feel their chemistry, that link, that I love, how they care for one another in each page of the book, and it was very enjoyable.

I also loved how they grew through the book and how each character developed in it.

I think I will try to read the other books of this series because it intrigues me to know more about them.

If you love soulmates, “right person, wrong time” trope, college romances, this book is for you.

So…

HERE YOU GO!
