The day I met Cadence, I was drunk, laying on the floor of her rescue singing Twinkle Twinkle to a dog.
The second time I met her, she was waitressing at a club. She was a dream, and the way she lit up around me, I thought I found my future.
Until my brother let it slip that I own the club and was technically her boss.
The third time I saw her, I was drunk again, mostly naked, upside down on a stripper pole.
Then I fell off.
Of course she’s able to resist me.
But when I find her and her grandma sleeping in the rescue? Well maybe forcing them to come live with me wasn’t the best plan, but now that they’re here, I don’t want to let them go.
So I’m going to work like hell to prove to her that she can trust me with all of her.
I enjoyed this one, but I liked it mostly because it’s part of the series and I love all the guys. Maverick didn’t get a lot of play in any of the other books, so he was a bit of an unknown quantity when his book came around and while it was a fun read, its one of my least fav in the series.
This isn't the worst of the books... And I would have loved it like always, except I HATED how both main characters are workaholic control freak martyrs. No one can do the work better than themselves. They are indispensable to everyone around them and no one could possibly help them so they have to work their way into the grave.
Yes, there were healthy words spoken... but it was so far towards the end that I had HAD IT up to my hair with their ridiculous behavior.
I had to speed through.
I really really hope that Ransom isn't a total dummy... but this author likes to repeat herself. A lot of the characters have the same exact control issues and someone needs to say "I'm an adult. Please stop trying to control my life".
I really want Ransom's book, but I'm getting real tired of this series.
As much as I've enjoyed myself, I don't think this is going to be a new favorite author. She is way too repetitive. And doesn't resolve things early enough for me. In this book, they start a fight around 90% in and it had my rolling my eyes so hard with impatience and annoyance.
I absolutely love this series, but this was probably my least favorite book of the series. It’s good, just not mind blowing like the others. Still worth it as part of the series, and gives a good insight as to what’s coming next for Ransom!
I loved Maverick. It was amazing and now I need the last book. It's going to be amazing too. I loved the both of them together and Nan was an awesome added bonus. I just love the brothers too.
Jenna never fails to deliver a multi-faceted story which has characters I wish were my friends! I laughed, I cried, and I laughed until I cried! Maverick and Cady were perfect compliments to each other. Both were driven to succeed, and both had giant, bruised, hearts. As someone who has been involved in dog rescue and has had a multitude of dogs in my life, I LOVED the realistic rescue situations Cady faced. Maverick’s introduction to dog walking duties had me laughing hysterically, as I could totally relate to his situation. The brothers continued their crazy antics in some perfectly Brash Brothers situations. Seriously, how Jenna comes up with this stuff is mind boggling. I either want to hang out with her and some margaritas, or be very concerned about her life! lol! Nan is the grandmother I will use as a role model from now on! My only sadness is having to wait five whole months for Ransom’s book! On one hand, I want that book NOW, and on the other, I never want to say goodbye to this crazy wonderful family! I want more, more, more!
Another great read by Jenna Myles!! I can't tell you how much I am loving this series1 Maverick and Cadence are great characters we have met in previous titles. This is their story and what a story it is! Great read!!
Tropes: Curvy FMC, found family, friends to lovers
Trigger Warnings: Previous attack, attacker’s death, cancer death & survival, hamsers!
Jenna Myles’ Brash Brothers books are the very definition of a rom-com. Brash family gatherings are pure chaos in the very best way. The characters could so easily come across as overgrown man-children, but their hearts are all so pure and giving, it would take a great deal more than blowing up a microwave in a convenience store and running away from the mess to take away the love we have for them all.
Maverick and Cady are the perfect compliment of each other. They’re achievers, dedicated and driven to make the world a better place. He with his lawyer skills and her rescuing dogs. I still can’t get the image of a drunken Maverick sitting cross-legged on the floor, singing ‘Tinkle Little Star’ to a Pomeranian out of my head…although if I’m being honest, the image of Nan trying to teach Becca how to crochet is another that will stay with me.
Myles’ stories have just enough angst/will they-won’t they to keep us reading, knowing that there’s always a HFN or HEA ending coming for the couple du jour. They’re sweet with just enough edge to keep them from becoming treacly sweet. She brings in the spice at just the right moment. In the case of Maverick & Cady’s story, that moment comes later in the narrative. But when she brings it, it’s hot enough to melt your panties.
And there’s Mia and her Hamsers!
Movie Rating R (for language & violence mostly,) 5/5 overall stars, 4/5 hearts for the romance, 2/5 for mostly off page violence, and 3/5 flames for the spice. I recommend this book and the entire series.
I'm loving it that, every book in the series, isn't only about each particular Brash Brother, and the darkness each of them have to face, before they can find their happily ever after, whatever that looks like, but it always ends with a snippet about the next brother.
With Maverick and Cadence, this is the penultimate story of the Brothers, and it's made me sad that this journey into each of their lives is almost at an end.
I really enjoyed Mav and Cady's story, especially as it dealt with the dog rescue, as my hubby and I spent our whole marriage - in fact, from 2 weeks after we met - taking in rescue dogs, and a few rescue cats, too.
I loved Mav and Cady's blooming relationship, but I loved Nan even more! Lol
Like the Brash Brothers, I lost my grandparents far too soon, so it was wonderful having that strong and sassy septuaganerian, taking her place in this growing family.
There were so many things within Mav and Cody's lives that I loved, especially Mav's giggle - you don't often see male characters written like this or, in fact, all the other Brothers' little foibles, which actually made them so very much more human, more relatable, somehow, and I think that's why so many of us love this series.
But, now it's time to read Book Ten: 'Ransom', which I've been greatly looking forward to reading, especially after the little reveal in Maverick & Cadence's story.
So, once I've finished Ransom's story, I'll catch you on the flip side, and let you know if it comes up to par, with my expectations for it!
Another day, another beautiful, billionaire Brash Brother to read about. I ain't mad!
Mavs been kind of an enigma this whole time (not in the same way Ransoms been, but still, enigma). We've gotten to know him a little through the legal stuff with John and the work to get him out, but really he's just been a background character. So I was excited to get to know him more.
And what I found was just lovely. Mav and Candace fit together SO WELL. Normally, I am so frustrated when these girls are like "oh my life is so rough, the billionaire wants to help me and I WON'T LET HIM". But Jenna managed to write Cady in a way that despite that that was what she was saying, I wasn't getting the bad vibes I normally do from that. Mav and Cady's relationship developed in such a natural way, with them seeming to really date and get to know each other so well. And the way that they always seemed to talk things out that upset them, felt very natural and such an extremely healthy thing you don't normally see in romance books. Also, when Mav asked Nan for permission to try and date Cady, I might have just swooned internally.
And while I liked Mav and Cady, Nan might have been my favorite character of this whole book! She just had so much spunk and character. She fit right in with the family in the best way possible.
I also enjoyed the additional info we are FINALLY getting about Ransom. I have been intrigued by him since Kade's story (book 1, y'all). And now that we know who his girl is going to be...and the hostility we've already gotten from her interaction with Nick and Mav....boy I am SO FREAKING EXCITED!
4/5 stars. It was a nice addition to the series as a whole. It felt real, and healthy. And I enjoyed the read.
This was my least favorite in the series. It had its moments like the rest of the books in the series, but it could have been shorter. It was an extremely slooooow burn. I listened to it on Audible. It was longer than John's book, which was long due to several repetitive scenes brought out in prior books but retold with John's perspective. I didn't mind that as much, but this book was too drawn out. I loved Nan in this book. She was hilarious, and Cadence wasn't bad, but the interactions with Maverick could have been sped up. It wasn't until 3/4 of the way through the story before any real intimacy occurred. The scenes are very similar to the other books in the series. They are all in their 30's, mid to late and it's odd to me that as family oriented as they all seem to be, there's only one brother that has his own child and that was an "accident" and one other brother became a step father. It was mentioned in John's epilogue that Janey wants to start a family with Jonas. I would have thought Mia would want to have a child with Colton since she adopted Mia because she wanted a child. I'm hoping Ransom's story will bring him a little bundle. He would be an amazing Daddy, and I'm hoping more come in Ransom's epilogue for the other brothers.
I love this series. Every time I think I’ve figured out where it’s gong to go a few little side tracks are thrown in.
Maverick has always been the one taking care of everyone. He’s the lawyer of the family and feels like he has to save everyone he can.
Cady is the owner of the rescue that they all love, volunteer at and get their pets from. She works hard to keep the dogs happy as well as her grandmother. Things have been tough for her and she’s doing everything she can to make ends meet.
Maverick and Cady come together and he falls hard an fast. Typical Brash fashion. He makes a fumble of things but in the end is exactly what Cady needs. While he is busy trying to take care of everyone else Cady and her Nan are busy trying to take care of him.
In the end both realize they have to work for things and talk to each other. They come together with the help of the crazy Brash family and Nan.
There was not third act break up thank god. I’m not sure with the emotions that were high I could have handled that. They did have a third act fight that was resolved with talk and love.
I appreciate the pacing of this story, I do, but I somehow feel like even though there was a lot of the family, which is my favorite part of this series honestly, it doesn't feel like there was at the same time? It's weird, I can sit here and think back over all the times the whole family got together, or even just parts of the family, in this story, and there were a lot of them. But it still felt separated, somehow? Though, that's kind of how Maverick's life was, so busy that he had a hard time making time for his family and loved ones. And Cady felt like she was on the outside of the family for quite awhile. So maybe that's how it was supposed to feel and it was spot on in it.
I don't know. I liked this story. I did. There's just something about it that pushes it closer to average for me over some of the other stories in this series. I can't put my finger on it. It was still good. But my top three are still Colton, Jonas, and John (in that order).
We did get to see a bit more of Ransom, however, which I enjoyed. And I am STOKED for his book. We need all the mystery he hides behind to be revealed!
This series is just such a good time for the most part. I love it.
There were things about this book I loved - the adorableness of their giggling sex scenes - Mav's giggle fits - Everything about Cadence
Then there were the things I was done with - Grown men ALWAYS acting like children. It was cute when it felt like that scene from 7 Brides For 7 Brothers were Millie flipped the tables on them for acting like starving hyenas. Not so much when they act like buffoons 9 books in. - Mav's lack of self awareness and accountability while simultaneously taking on all responsibilities. Pick a lane, bro. - Ransom's secrecy. If you've read Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunters series, you may be familiar with how amazing Acheron was for FIFTEEN books, then he got his own looooong-ass book and it was all like Mwa-mwaaaaa. I'm afraid thats what is going to happen with Ransom.
I'm going to take a breather from this series before getting around to Ransom's story. If I go in now, I'll likely rate it lower than it deserves- gotta find that balance between how subjective ones enjoyment of a book is, and giving a book its fair chance.
OK, carry on...I think I'm going to go read something apocalyptic now...
Mav, Cady, and Nan Make Three! 4.25*****/5 Spoiler Alert
Maverick Ramos, Brash Brothers legal counselor, plus pro-bono overworked legal representative to every abused and disadvantaged family on his radar, met Cadance/Cady at her dog rescue business. She got a part-time job at Escape, Mav''s side business to raise money for her medical bills plus rescue cost. The two slowly fall into love as Cady and Nan move into Mav's pad, like Janey and Micah did. Overcoming her hold up trauma and hearing Mav's backstory, they are getting hitched and Nan moved out of their pad into the other rental. HEA, as we next unravel Ransom and Blair's saga. This saga just took too long to unfold... Honesty with family and lover, plus requesting help when overwhelmed are the keys in this novel. Yep I can see Mav getting Cady her dream country rescue site, sooner than later, but who will be there for future, dumped urban litters and rescyes?!?

Maverick's book was worth the wait. It was humorous and sweet at the same time. I noticed not so much drama as with the other brothers.
Cadence was the owner of a non profit dog rescue and was struggling a bit with finances. Bree talked the brothers into donating to the rescue which helped Cady out. What none of them knew was that Cady and her Nan were actually living in the shelter. Nan sleeping on a cot and Cady on the floor with a blow up mat.
Mav was so infatuated with her he would volunteer at the shelter with Nick and Bree. Well one morning he went to help out since all her volunteers couldn't make it. That's when Mav found out she and her Nan were living in the shelter. Yep you guessed it that didn't go over to well. He packed them up and took them to his home. The rest is history. But I have to warn you Nan is a character in their story. She had me cracking up and all the brothers loved her. She was adopted as their Nan.
This book was one of my favorites! It was by far the funniest out of the series and I laughed out loud so many times. Especially Nan! She's a hoot! And just what the Brash Brothers need.
I loved Maverick and Candance. His need to fix everything slamming against her need to do everything on her own was so fun to watch. Mix in some really nosy family members and their romance is a recipe for fun. I can not believe there will only be one book after this one. It has been such a great series and every brother is a dear. But Ransom's story will definitely be the best of the bunch only because we know NOTHING!
Mav and Cady are so sweet and their attraction is a slow but HOT burn. I love them having to figure out their attraction within the chaos of all the other couples paired off and happy and Nan. Them getting together was satisfying because they seemed to fit right from the beginning, despite their hesitations.
CW: death of a parent (historic), slow burn, trauma response, employer/employee relationship
Maverick meets Cadence again because she starts working at his dance club. The first time he met her was at her dog rescue, but he was blotto at the time. Cadence of course falls for the big hunky billionaire but refuses to date him because she doesn't want to lose her job. When he finds out that she and her grandmother have been living at the dog rescue after losing their house, he convinces (strong arms) them to move in with him.
Like all the other books in this series, it has many laugh-out-loud moments. Also like all of the other women, Cadence is curvy. What surprised me the most was finding out that she could
Overall I really loved this book and I cannot wait for Ransom's book.
I love this series so much, the author brings each character into the book so well. She Introduces them in previous books to give a little insight to them and then builds from there. I have read a lot of books that have each character having their own book and I really enjoy following the stories. Jenna does this so well and it’s great at making sure each one flows with continuity in story and time lines. The guys are so hilarious and the humour and ‘events’ in each book make this series so original and stand out from the similar “billionaire” “broody male” series. They all have a history including the women but they are not helpless and need men to save them, they are all independent strong and opinionated. They put their men in their place and it makes a great read. Can’t wait for the final book of Ransom
Maverick is the lawyer of the group. He's a caretaker, showing himself thin to be able to help as many people as he can. He juggles his corporate responsibilities for Brash Group but also takes on every pro-bono case that comes his way.
Cadence (Cady) runs a dog rescue that the guys donate to. Several of them also volunteer there. Funds are tight, and she's also caring for her elderly grandmother, so she takes a second job waitressing in the club that Maverick owns. That's where their paths cross. She flirts with him at first but then shuts that down when she realizes he's the boss.
Maverick is obsessed and can't back down from the challenge, of course..
I enjoyed the back and forth as he tries to woo her. Nan is a freaking hoot, too. Also, a deeper peek into the enigma that is Ransom was woven through these pages as well. I love this series. The slow burn, so good.
Oh sweet Maverick. This poor man has been through the wringer. Cady fits him perfectly. The way he take her and her Nan in no questions is so adorable. The way the whole family adopts Nan as their own grandmother is so cute. Arguing to spend time one on one with her because they never had that sort of love just broke my heart. These books are just amazing!
"Strength isn't about never needing help, Cadence. It's about knowing when to ask for it, and being brave enough to accept it when it's offered. And don't let fear hold you back from something that could be amazing." -Ransom
"Did I ever mention she's a little light in the attic?" -Nan (talking about her friend after she did something stupid.)

Finally we get to have some insight on the resident lawyer. In all the other books he was kind of in the background so I didn't know what to expect from him. Well let me tell you he is just the sweetest with a heart of gold and a hint of wild, just like the rest of the Brash brothers, he falls hard for the girl (like at first sight) fast. I also understand why he was never around, it was because he has a heart of gold and tries to help everyone that needs him not just his brother's. Candace is the same in that way, except that instead of helping people she helps animals. Those 2 are made for each other in the best way. They bring the best of one another. I can't wait to dive in to Ramson story
When I first started this story it made me warm and fuzzy,I have never felt like that with any of the authors or stories it was just weird. Don't get me wrong this story was very good,Mav got his happy ever after just like his brothers. Cadence found some one to love her and just not her granny Nan! Cadence was good for Maverick, she made him see the light so to speak, slow his life down, stop saying yes to anyone that ask him for help and it freed him up to have a life with his lady love.I really got a kick out of the story where the older generation kick the butts of the younger generation when they were playing pickleball
I am so sad that this is the second to last book of the Brash Brothers series! I never want it to end. I love all the characters, the closeness, the humor, the steamy scenes...what I wouldn't give to be a part of a family like this! Maverick FINALLY got his story with Cadence, and it was as good as I knew it would be. I love that Maverick giggles and that he wants to help everyone, just like Cadence wants to save all the dogs. They were a perfect match. The end of the book leads up to Ransom's book. We learn a lot about Ransom in Maverick's book. I love this series! Although each book is a standalone, the books should be read in order as everyone is in each other's books!
Loved this book. I could not wait for it to come out. Nan is a riot. I could not stop laughing. I found myself wanting to read more about Nan. Love that the brothers all show up in the books. I find myself invested in each of their antics. Lady is badass as well. She certainly compliments Maverick. Not as strong a storyline as some of the other books in the series. However, it is still a great read. I can't wait for Ransom and Blairs story. I have already pre booked it for December. It is too long away. I will have to re read the entire series before then. I am certain the last book is gonna be brilliant! 😍😍
I continue to be amazed by Jenna's storytelling. The depth of these characters is so interesting, and I enjoy the clever way your backstory comes through to the reader. You know that each character has been traumatized in some way, but you aren't sure what EXACTLY occurred, and then the bomb gets dropped. Then, just when you think you couldn't love Maverick or Cadence anymore, you see how they have grown from their struggles and make each other better. Congratulations, Jenna, on another fantastic book. I love that these books make me LOL no matter where I am when I am reading. There is so much humor in Jenna's writing. I am dying to discover Ransom's story.
I absolutely love these books. The characters are loveable and perfectly imperfect. I have laughed with every book, but this one set me off more often than the others. I'm sure my neighbours were concerned as I cackled to myself on a Sunday afternoon. I'm pretty particular about contemporary romance, but these books sucked me right in.
Also, I highly recommend getting them directly from the author's site, because this is the second preorder that has come early for me. She does it when she can, so it's worth it! Received, read, and reviewed in one afternoon :D
Jenna Myles has me in her grip and I don’t even care!
I adored Maverick and Cady’s story. Both of them were just perfection. She’s making ends meet and taking care of her grandma. He’s her boss at the club she serves at. Both fall for each other, even when trying to deny it.
So many laugh out loud moments….like truly chuckled. Clever writing and dialogue.
But let’s talk about the real star of this book - Nan. I love how the family just took her in as their pseudo-granny and how freaking HYSTERICAL she is! Pure perfection.
