I have never been a horticulturist, nor do I possess a natural talent for gardening. Last year, someone gave me some plants, but I knew next to nothing about caring for them. Despite my lack of knowledge, I somehow managed to keep most of them alive, which was quite an accomplishment. When I came across this book, it caught my attention. Typically, books on this topic would not pique my interest, but this one stood out.
From the first few pages, it was clear this book was unlike others. By the end of chapter one, I was amazed. Alice Mirren's depiction of seeds was truly inspiring, her passion evident in every word. I had never considered seeds to be sacred or carriers of history. As Mirren writes, “Each variety tells a tale, revealing the families who cultivated it.”
Before reading this work, to me, seeds were just seeds. However, after finishing this work, I am convinced that anyone who reads this book will look at seeds in a new light. It may even rekindle a sense of wonder and admiration for tasks, such as preserving seeds for future use.
Mirren's Seed Saving Secrets is a delightful surprise, and readers will undoubtedly gain valuable knowledge from her expertise.

This book came to my hands at the moment I needed it the most, I was in a total crisis with my garden and I needed urgent advice to save it. Let me tell you that this book is a must for those of us who are getting into the extraordinary world of gardening and its secrets. What I liked the most is that it teaches a variety of essential and necessary techniques to understand in depth from mastering harvesting to storing and growing your own seeds.

For beginners in gardening
A while ago, I tried to garden and made so many mistakes with the storage of the seeds and keeping the plants alive it ended up looking awful. Recently, I committed again to it and started reading Seed Saving Techniques and now I have the most beautiful garden and it is very well taken care of. I highly recommend this book if you want to explore different techniques for harvesting, storing, growing seeds and designing a garden and also connect with nature.

I think with the way the economy is going, knowing how to grow a garden, cultivate and save your seeds is important. Growing our own vegetables sure tastes yummy. This book takes the guess work out of what type of seeds to use for the area I live in. I also appreciate the information on seed observation which is the key to successful harvesting. Creating a seed bank would be a fun activity with the kids. Every seed we save is a tiny step toward a greener, healthier planet.

Meaning that the advice can actually be used to overcome common obstacles, such as seed selection, cultivation, storage, and utilization. This book has taught me a lot about seed harvesting and the essential tools to use as well as how to properly store seeds. There’s a lot of other important information in this book, including how to build a survival seed kit in case of an emergency. I think with the current state of just life in general, it’s better to be prepared.

I found Seed Saving to be a wonderful book. Not only for the ideas about gardening, but also for the way in which Alice Mirren presents them. Along the pages, I can tell the author did a lot of research. I can tell it from each tip he suggests. The language chosen for the book is friendly and the vocabulary easy to understand. I think this is a very educational book; it's very clear and simple yet very informative. I got into gardening because of my father and wanted to know more about it to help him store seeds effectively, but ended up loving the process and learning about this. It is a great book for any level really.
