Hate Us Like You Mean It

Rate this book
When my father told me that his new girlfriend and her three sons were moving in, I was livid. My senior year of high school and I have no choice but to attend their school, where they are the crowned kings. Meeting them sucked, and attending their school is worse than living with them but did I mention I hooked up with one of them at a Christmas party? Teague, Tanner and Talon instantly hate me. Good, the feeling is mutual. I underestimated how far their hatred for me runs. They use my two best friends, Zach and Silas, against me, blackmailing me into doing their bidding. When they publicly claim me as theirs in front of the whole school, everything changes. I’m forced to fall in line and do what they say or risk them hurting someone else I care about. I tried to hate them like I meant it, but when tragedy strikes and my secret is revealed, the twins can no longer turn a blind eye to Teague’s hate. I thought he was bad before. I was so wrong. Hiding the truth from him was one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made and now I’m paying the price for my deception. When Hatred turns to love can you forget the past and overcome the hurt?

It's so bad that I suspect it was partially written ChatGPT. It reads like the outline of a story not the complete story. Important details about the characters are changed throughout. The characters are inconsistent, the plot is incoherent. There is no cohesiveness or transitional sensibility between plot moments. If the writing was decent maybe the utter ridiculousness of this story line would work. But it's not so it doesn't. The only reason I didn't DNF it is because it was short and I could finish it in a few hours. I only got through it with a lot of eye rolling and lol'ing at the unbelievable conceit.

nope

Gross how someone can abuse you so much, never say sorry but you still love him. If that’s not a classic form of abuse, then nothing is. Complete Stockholm syndrome and it was annoying how she just let Teague get away with it all.
I’d pass on this.

Never Judge a Book By Its Cover

Still traumatized with how their father use to treat their mother Teague, Tanner and Talon decided that they would get their revenge on the man who is about to marry their mother by ruining his daughter.

Lacey has been rebelling eversince she loss her mother when she was younger so it's no surprise she freely hooked up with a handsome guy at a party without a care in the world until she learns this mysterious hottie is a out to be her stepbrother.

This story dealt with some heavy issues: Bullying, Grief and Mental Illness.

Teague, Tanner and Talon were terrible to Lacey and her father. Judging them before even getting to know them. The guys treated Lacey horribly and if it wasn't for her Sassy, Sarcastic, Ride or Di3 Gay Bestie I believe Lacey would have given up a long time ago.

It took a tragedy to make Lacey and the guys face their issues. Teague was the hardest to come around but once he confronted his pain and grief he was able to heal and once the truth about Lacey's father was revealed the guys knew they really had a lot of misplaced aggression towards the wrong person.

There were a few hurdles to cross and bridges to mend before Lacey, Teague, Tanner and Talon found their HEA but once they each found forgiveness in each other as well as within themselves they were able to move forward building their relationship on a stronger foundation.

What a freaking collaboration!!!!

Hate us Like You Mean It by Jaye Pratt and Samantha Barrett was absolutely fantastic and just the story I was looking for!!! If you love your romances full of family drama, endless heat and steamy action and a love/hate dynamic so full of angst and tension between several delicious alpha-hole stepbrothers and the fierce heroine thats not afraid to take on the sexy demanding possessive jerks trying to ruin her then this is the one for you!

This is the story of our fierce heroine Lacey, who after hearing her father is about to move his new girlfriend in with her three sons decides to escape to a party for some mindless fun and a hot night of pleasure with a random cutie…who she soon realizes is non other than one of her new step-brothers and that he may have left her with more than just hot delicious memories. Yet there’s no fuzzy reunion for these two and Teague, Talon, and Tanner are after more than a relationship with their new step sister. They want to ruin her. Destroy her. And boy do they try hard!

I absolutely loved this story and these characters and how the drama just drew me right in! And while Lacey may come across as a rich B diva at first, I loved how protective she is of those she loves and how underneath that tough exterior she was so much more. And Zach was just utter perfection!!!! What can I say besides everyone needs a Zach and Silas in their lives.

Overall if you’re looking for a bully, enemies to lovers type story that’s packed full of tension, angst and so much delicious heat and emotional turmoil that it takes you on an endless emotional rollercoaster of ride then this is a definite must read for you!

I wish you would of hated me.

I loved everything about this book. I dont mind bullying if it isn't horrible. Even tho Teague had his moments it wasn't the worse I've read before. Ibwas heartbroken that she lost the baby. And not going to lie I was mad at Teague at 1st the way he pulled her hair and made her eat the food off rhe floor. I thought hebwas like his father because that was abuse not to mention he really sliced her wrist I was so shocked. Even if it got her the help she needed that was not the way. Bit my heart did go out to him when he finally broke and felt the loss of his baby he didn't even get to know was there til it was to late. Honestly what happened to Drake was left off easy even if it took everything from him. He took a life. But I loved this story so much. I loved the twins even when I though they were to much at times. It's always cliche tho. It's always a bond of brothers or friends that swear nothing could break them apart but it always ends in a women doing it. It happens in alot of Bully RH books. But I still loved the book so much I wish the author would write one with them in college. We all know a writer could drudge up drama like a stalker or unhinged teacher or whatever lol. I want to see these guys more. More. More. And I absolutly love Zach and would never change him and Si as well. I will read the books but authors please think about a college book for these guys. I cant get enough and there just seemed that there could be more to their story. Like the black falls series I think that's what it's called. They were in HS and now they are in college. We need more books like that with high school RHs.

I ATE THIS SHIT UP! I literally finished it in one sitting and the only disappointment I had was that it was over. This was one delicious ride from the very get-go. Sam and Jaye, I need more!

Now before you go into this, shit gets dark and HOT as hell so be forewarned if you have triggers. If you love dark, bully, forbidden, stepbrother, why choose, badass FMC, angst, drama and hella spice vibes then this one is for you!

Lacey is heading into senior year with three new step brothers - one of whom she has already had interactions with not knowing he was her stepbro to be - and these boys (including TWINS! Yes you read that right) are ready to claim them as one of their own… but their mission is to break her! Unbeknownst to them, though, Lacey is not one to lie down and take it (you see what I did there?!) Nope, she is going to give them hell.

Now the found family in this is also hella strong and can I just say, I need a Zach in my life! Bitch, that Queen is fire!!!

Teague, Tanner and Talon… I have no words. The twins were just delectable, I would love to be a part of that twin sandwich, and Teague has his own set of demons and I was ready to castrate him at some points but that boy damn near sliced my heart in two when he came clean. Lacey is one lucky girl!

One of my fave books of the year so far and we’re only halfway through.

This was the first book I read by both authors, but it has left me super excited to read more by both of them!

What did I just read?!?! Oh my gosh!!

“Hate us like you mean it” is Samantha Barrett’s first co-write with Jaye Pratt. It’s no shock to anyone that knows me that I am a huge fan of Samantha Barrett but what she has done here with Jaye Pratt is nothing short of astounding.

“Hate us like you mean it” is definitely the best read you’re looking for especially if your a RH, bully troupe fan. This story centres around Lacey who has just found out her father is about to move his new girlfriend in with her 3 sons. Aka the step-monsters, Teague, Talon and Tanner are determined to make Lacey’s life torture what they don’t count on is that my girl Lacey is strong, fierce and bada$$ she challenges them at every time and I’m in awe of her strength and determination. Lacey is strong and fiercely protective of those she cares about. Lacey holds the power to have these boys on their knees begging for mercy.

“Hate us like you mean it” had me gripped from start to finish and I just couldn’t put it down. This story is jam packed with angst, tension and jaw dropping twists and turns. I adored this book and I especially adored the side characters Silas and Zach they were the cherry on top of the cake. I can’t recommend this story enough.

If you like RH, enemies to lovers, bully then this is definitely a story you want to one click.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
FIVE STARS ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a really great bully romance! Definitely heed the content warnings if you have any triggers.

At first, I didn’t really care for Lacey. She seemed like your typical spoiled rich girl. My opinion of her quickly changed as the story went on and we get more of her past and see how fiercely she protects those she cares for. She was so willing to do anything to protect her friends and it was very admirable.

I did not think the guys could be redeemed at all in this book. The bullying and blackmail were intense at times and then after the horrible accident happens, Tanner and Talon I felt better about because of how they changed. Teague…how he reacted and what he did was awful and I didn’t see how he could possibly be redeemed. Then he did something that had my jaw actually dropping and I thought there was no way he can be forgiven. Then he had that one moment where he finally told the truth and things got better.

This has all the best tropes: enemies to lovers, stepbrothers, bully, twins, why choose, and a dark romance! It’ll have you so angry one minute and your heart crushed the next. Lots of steam throughout and a great ending!

The was a dark bully / stepbrothers combo and OMG it was 🔥🔥🔥

Lacey, Zach & Silas all live in Lacey’s home, Zach her BFF was thrown out by his parents for being gay, Silas her other close friend is the son of their master chef and they lived a charmed life all going to the same private school until Lacey accidentally helped burn down the school. Cut to her Dad telling them he was moving in his girlfriend and her three sons who go to the local public school where the three will join them and them wham the rollercoaster story enfolds.

The twists in this book keeps you on your toes and there are some situations and topics that warrant trigger warnings, so if you have any please check them first.

Lacey was an easy favourite who goes through some absolute h$llish times and Zach is the unsung hero in this book, his character is hilarious and his new budding friendship was an unexpected joy. The three brothers - Teague a year older then the twins but also suffered in his past that put him a year behind in school, will have you loving to hate them and then more.

This was a brilliant read, with plenty of get go, once you start you won’t want to put it down - and easy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dark Bully Romance

This book was SO dark, but I loved it! I'm an absolute sucker for a stepbrother romance and throw in some twins and I'm sold.

I would highly recommend to anyone with triggers to seek out the trigger warnings for this book first as there are some situations and topics that occur that could be hard for some.

This book was a rollercoaster of emotions and I loved the ride. Lacey was an easy favourite in this book, she was easy to relate to and I liked seeing how drawn she was to the brothers despite all the bad stuff they threw her way.

Zach was a stand out character in this book. He was such a delight to read about. I adored his budding friendship with Talon and his obsession with glitter, much to Teague's displeasure.

Hate us like you mean it was a brilliant read, filled with hot spicy scenes, emotional moments and twists.

WoW! If you're looking for bully-enemies to lovers, look no further!
Lacey is strong (way stronger than I'd be!) and holds her head up high, LOVE her fire!
Teegan, Tanner, and Talon, hats off to those boys, they make Lacey's life miserable by just existing, when they start actually trying to make her hate them... next level!
It would be bad enough if they were just school bullies but no, she has to deal with them at home too, no escape. Lacey has to pick herself up and dust herself off as she does time and time again.
Start to finish secrets and lies, you better carve yourself out a day because its so good you won't want to put it down! First time reading Samantha Barrett but a long time reader of Jaye Pratt, wonderful collaboration, I'll look for more from Samantha Barrett for sure!

You Seriously Need to Read this Book

I was literally hooked from the first word until the last one. I believe I even lost sleep, but it was so freaking worth it. Teague, Tanner, and Talon are guys that seriously make you want to hate them in the beginning for what they do to Lacey. They even go as far as to use her two best friends, Zach and Silas, against so she will do what they want. As things progress, everything starts to get even better when a secret is revealed. There are a few things that could be triggering for some people, so please check them out first. This book was so freaking good. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. The spice is definitely a 5 because it is hot. If you like either one of these wonderful authors, then you definitely love this book. I seriously wish there was going to be more.

I don't think Samantha can write anything but 5 ⭐ stars ⭐. This was an absolute first reading anything by Jaye, but I absolutely loved it.

I grew a love hate relationship with these boys. I went from absolutely hating them one minute, to dropping to my knees in love the next.

The girls definitely pulled some more tears from me for Sam's Collection 🤣.

Our beautiful Lay Lay. There are absolutely no words to encapsulate the Queen you are.
The girls have done an amazing job with the characters and story. I've been crying, laughing out loud and I never wanted it to end.

And no one could go doing a review with out mentioning our bright and sparkly Zach. He's the gay best friend every girl needs.

Lacey's (FMC) life becomes complicated when her father's girlfriend and her 3 sons (Teague, Tanner and Talon) move into their house. Revenge and misunderstandings kick off a toxic relationship between Lacey and the guys. Teague especially.

Lacey and Teague's dynamic was definitely fiery and some of stunts that Teague pull was completely out of order at times (he needed a good smack!) as well as dark but I kinda understood his logic. Just how he went about it was a bit extreme in places. Lacey certainly went through a lot in this book and it was genuinely heartbreakingly sad. I loved Zach who gave a much needed bit of light-hearted humour. Him and Silas were just so sweet. I want friends like them myself.

A dark, seductive & heartachingly great read that I enjoyed reading.

DNF'd. I liked the story in the beginning but as the story continued I just didn't like how the men treated Lacey. At first it was okay because it was basic asshole things. What was fucked up was Teague making her eat off the floor. I read bully romance all the time but there's a point when it crosses a line & meh I just didn't like it. Not to mention, Teague blames her for everything & the way he treated her after she feel down the stairs & was going through a huge loss, nope. POS.

At first I thought Lacey was a somewhat badass because she stood up to them but then she basically just rolled over. Bully romance to me is a great trope but if the female is a doormat especially with the things these guys did, just makes me dislike the female more than the males.

Holy hell this book was soooo good. I won’t lie I hated the guys at first . Lacy’s dad meets and starts dating these 3 guys mom. They end up moving into Lacy’s houses.
They are complete A holes at the begging of the book.
I love love her friendship with Zach and Silas . Teague is the sexiest bad boy who she hooks up with at a party , tanner and talon are the twins who are sexy as shit .they have a crappy dad who makes them fight in cage fights all the time .
So many twists and turns and good and bad things that go on! I don’t want to ruin it . But this is a huge bully romance book. My favorite type , it’s a must read

Hate Us Like You Mean it

Well then... that was quite the ride with Lacey. Teague was something else. The twins, Tanner and Talon, were too, but they were slighter better than their brother. I loved Silas and Zach, and I think those boys need their own stories as well. The only thing I don't like, and there are plenty of authors I've read who do this as well is to have characters repeatedly say the same things over and over like we forgot it or something. It really is overkill and kinda destroys the mood of the story. The story was great, and I hope the authors give us more of these characters.

Good read

Firstly, this is my opinion and I’m sure other people enjoyed this book more than I did, but I felt like I was looking for a little more. I have read both of these authors before and they really did write well together.

There is good amount of spice, so I can’t say anything bad about that. However, I think I have been looking for a bit more sustenance in my books lately. In saying that, the story was pretty decent, with more of a superficial storyline. There were some tougher scenes, please read the trigger warnings. There were some side conflicts as well but I feel like they are just a little addition to the main story. They were interesting but I’m not sure if they made a huge difference in the storyline.

I think I didn’t connect to the characters much and I wasn’t sure how I felt about the bullying.
I don’t know how I felt about the FMC and the guys kind of blended into one for me. At some points I could differentiate them, but it was difficult.

This was a quick read with plenty of spice, and a few darker themes. Perfect for those looking for a bully romance with plenty of spice.

Hate Us Like You Mean It started out great…..and it continued to get even better as time went on!!!

Hate Us Like You Mean It is Samantha Barrett’s first co-write with Jaye Pratt and I really hope they write more together in the future. They took this story and gave it their absolute best and they created a incredible book!
You couldn’t tell these two have never written a book together before.

The story had everything. Amazing plot and characters who matched. It is delicious and full of steam and angst.

If you’re looking for your next read….this is it! If you’re never read these authors before…this is your sign to start with this book.

BTW Tanner is mine 😘

I did enjoy this book, but I also felt bad for the female main character because her new stepbrothers basically treated her kind of poorly in the beginning and kind of isolated her from her friend who also happened to live in the house with her dad and her. Made her home life and school life difficult because they kind of targeted her and mostly did it to get a reaction out of her. I did like that everything got resolved between everyone at the end of the book though, but I may have to reread this book at some point because the details are a little fuzzy. I do really like this author's writing style though too.

Lacey is struggling with the loss of her mom and with the fact that her dad is moving his new girlfriend in the house with 3 sons. What does Lacey do? She rebels. She goes to a party and decides to make some sketchy decisions. What she doesn't know is that one of those decisions is going to follow her..
The boy she hooked up with is one of her new step brothers. Wasn't a coincidence They were at the same party at the same time.. what was Teague's ulterior motives behind seeking Lacey out at the party???

I really enjoyed this book. There are so many up down twist and turns. The relationship between the guys was great. They would do anything for each other and their mom even if means being bullies. Lacy is very protective and would do anything for for her best friends Zack and Silas. Lacy is sassy, mouthy, fiesty, smart mouth and gave the guys a run for their money especially Teague. This book does have a few dark spots and may have tiggers for some people. I highly suggest looking into them before diving in.

This was a great bully/step brother RH. I loved getting to meet Lacey (our fierce and loving fmc) and her guys Teague, Tanner, and Talon. We meet her bestfriends who are funny, fierce, and loyal themselves. These were amazing characters who will have u in all your feels. There were times I wanted to smack the guys but the make up is so sweet! This has amazing world building and a great storyline that will keep you wanting more. There are TW to watch out for so make sure you read those before diving in.

I love love anything that Jaye Pratt writes and this book co-authored my Samantha Barrett did not disappoint. Love the T brothers (Teague, Talon and Tanner). Lacey has had a semi-easy life and her dad is having his new love move in with her three sons. The boys rule their school and they have set eyes on Lacey as their target. There is family drama, heartbreak, sexy hot scenes, best friends and love. This book was a roller coaster of emotions and dark at time but totally worth a read. You won’t be dissatisfied!

3 men and lots of glitter!
Lacey and her adopted brother/best friend Zach move to a new school for senior year after their school burns down. After a one-night encounter 😉 at a party Lacey finds herself pregnant and doesn’t know the baby daddy’s name. A few weeks later, her dad’s new girlfriend and her 3 sons move in and Lacey is confronted with something she least expected!

This book gave all the feels! I even shed a couple of tears! As always I went in blind but please check content Warning if you have any triggers!

I liked the book overall, although it starts off strong.
The characters are good, some I loved, like Zach, and others I despaired of, like Teague. The twins got on my nerves at first and I ended up loving them. The evolution of the twins and Teague throughout the book was great. They've gone from being bullies to Riley's biggest protectors. To be honest, I was looking forward to the improvement in the arc of these characters.
I wish there was an extra epilogue to see how Riley is doing in the future and if she's been able to move forward after the tragedy.

Enjoyable!

I LOVED Lacey and how fiercely protective she is of her people, and even the strength she has going through what she has. I will say this book is an emotional rollercoaster, for the size, I didn't imagine how much this book would tug on my heartstrings and even make me teary. I loved Zach and Silas and Lacey's friendship with both, I need my very own Zach. Got to say Talon was my favourite of the brothers. Very enjoyable read!

I love me a goof bully/RH!!! This one did not disappoint!! The twists and turns, possessive brothers... swoon! I was sold instantly! These boys are up and down with feelings! When they don't like someone, they make it known, but when they love.. they love with everything they have. Lucy is beyond strong and put up with the stuff she does and for holding a secret that would have turned things around quickly! this was a great quick read, and I recommend it to all!!

Overall, this was a good bully romance. Teague, Tanner and Talon find out they are moving in with their mother's new rich boyfriend and daughter, they proceed to project their own biases based on their trauma with their own father on the boyfriend. Lacey is still mourning the loss of her mother, feeling neglected by her father rebels and makes some life altering choices.

I enjoyed this book, it was an entertaining read. I really liked the side characters, Zach is the best.

Amazing!!!

I love anything by Jaye... Samantha is new to !e but this book is completely amazing. Its fast pace. Super spicy and it doesn't have any low moments.
The only thing that I didn't care a lot about was the basketball parts. That more because I dont speak basketball, so I got lost. I had no idea what she was talking about. In my head, all I could see was jim Carey in a tutu for some reason. Lol
You will !ove this book
