An epic Western adventure into the dry and dusty desert of Old Mexico.
When Tommy Duvall's pals get wind of a shipment of gold from Juarez, they decide they're the right crew to ambush that wagon and take the gold for themselves.
Despite the threat of Apache and bandidos, they hit the old Jornado del Muerto trail, riding south across the border.
But in the village of Santa Catalina, everything goes sideways for this gang of tenderfoot outlaws.
In this fast-paced saga of betrayal and deception, friendship and love, a man's integrity is tested and comes up short. He might not find redemption in Mexico, but he’ll dang sure get vengeance.
If you love gun-slinging Westerns so real you can feel the grit of the trail dust in your teeth and Old West tales where the line between right and wrong is as blurred as the desert haze, then saddle up your best riding horse and bring your shooting irons. It's a lengthy ride to Old Mexico, and we're bound to burn powder Along the Restless Trail.
Western author Robert Preacher's characters come to life in the wild Vegas countryside as young saddle tramp Tommy Duvall looks to rise above his humble position of range rider for Big Ben Callahan, who started out as a rustler himself. Opportunities beckon in Old Mexico as Duvall reckons with his conscience of whether to cross the line of the law or not. I streamed this book thru Kindle Unlimited.
This one is a little different, but in a good wa. It has all the action you would expect. A bunch of down at the heal friends get wind of a gold shipment in mexico that is ripe for the picking. Duval thinks it is a bad deal all around, but his friends would not be talked out of it. Naturally, Duval needs to go too, even though it is unsavory characters setting it up.
Rob is my favorite author of western novels, and this is one of his best. He paints a vivid, realistic story about young friends getting pulled into a risky venture to seize a large amount of gold from a powerful, dangerous man who has large political aspersions in the hot Mexican desert.
This is both exciting and a well thought out story. The premise is believable and the characters have engrossing personalities with depth. Plot twists abound. This surely isn't a cookie cutter "good guy, white horse, pretty girl" story.
