Foraging means to hunt for food in the wilderness, and it’s not a skill that most people need in the modern world. That doesn’t mean it isn’t fascinating to learn about, though.

This book teaches you how to forage, and you never know when the skill is going to come in handy. Whether you’re lost in the woods or just curious to know what plants and insects you might find in your backyard are edible, this is the book that will reveal that information to you.

Author Hugo James Olson is witty as well as wise, and he has plenty to say about how to prepare the edible roots, tubers, and creepy crawlies you can safely ingest. Putting this book’s teachings into practice is not for the faint of heart, but if you’re ever in a life or death situation, what you learn in these pages might very well save your life.

Author Hugo James Olsen teaches us that it is necessary to know about the ancestral technique of searching for food in nature, identifying plants and avoiding poisonous ones, providing us with the knowledge to be alert, even generating a double check. Also to find medicinal plants, which help us, such as aloe vera for burns or lavender not only for its flagancy but for being a powerful relaxant and how to prepare them. The use of insects with their protein load and how to find sources of drinkable water. In short, an excellent book for people who love living in nature, where they add the tips taught in the book

My younger self would have been really happy with this book. It is a very complete guide that teaches essential skills for survival and also sustainability. Something that is quite unique to find in a book like this one.
I enjoyed every aspect of this book, it was very detailed and informative, the best part was knowing about water sources and techniques to identify contaminated water.
