Where the Heart Is

Rate this book
In a race against time to save her ranch, Lottie can't afford to lose her heart.

Lottie Heartt is as shocked as anyone when she inherits her grandfather's ranch after his death. Unfortunately, the ranch has hit upon hard times and Grandpa left a stipulation to her inheritance: get the ranch back on its feet within a year, or forfeit it to her father and his greedy brother. Determined not to lose her family's legacy, Lottie puts together the best plan she can to save the ranch. If only the handsome ranch foreman didn't fight with her over every change she proposes.

Duke Scott has worked the ranch since he was a young man. Comfortable with the way things were, he balks at the changes his former employer's beautiful granddaughter wants to make. But Lottie isn't giving up, and he's going to have to find a way to work with her. Fighting his growing attraction for his new boss becomes the least of his worries as outside forces threaten Lottie's success.

A contemporary western romance with heart, family, and fun animal companions, Where the Heart Is will surely tug your heartstrings and tickle your funny bone.

For as long as she can remember, Jessica L. Elliott has been telling stories. As soon as she could grasp a pencil she began writing those stories down. Reading fueled her imagination, as did spending time with her five younger brothers and sisters. Everything was an adventure, something to be treasured and stories were her first love. Jessica began seriously writing in high school and continued into college while attending Emporia State University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She wrote and released her first novel, Charming Academy, in August of 2011. Jessica currently lives in southwest Kansas with her husband and family.

Jess I loved this book. I had so much fun reading it and I took my time and enjoyed it.

Jessica L. Elliott never ceases to amaze me, she has a gifted talent when it comes to storylines and plots.

Lottie Heartt just inherited her Granddad’s Ranch, only one stipulation stands in her way.
As per Granddad’s will:
One year to make the ranch profitable or her Dad and Uncle will inherit it.
Her Granddad’s Ranch Foreman, Duke Scott has his reservations about her plans to put the Rocking H back in the black.
Can this hard-headed duo work together and succeed or will they come to blows? Will the attraction they both are trying to avoid, be the last straw?

Truly an inspiring book of faith in others, Kansas history, and family legacy.

This is my second Jessica L. Elliott book and I enjoyed it immensely and look forward to more books that take place at Twining Hearts Ranch! I see so many possibilities stemming from this first edition to what I hope becomes a long series! My heart swelled and beamed with pride to see my besties name blazed in the acknowledgments! Coming from and being raised around cattle and livestock, the details put into this book pulled me in even deeper and sent me to google often to see pictures of the cattle, breeds of poultry and horses mentioned. I love a book that pulls me in so deep that I have to have pictures to see to get the movie in my head on track. I won't go into the plot of this book, you can get that elsewhere. I'll just say it is a great one and I look forward to seeing the the life and love of Lottie Heartt and Duke Scott blossom. I can only imagine where the additions to this book will venture and can't wait to see Maverick Lodge and the B & B come to life and flourish. I can only wonder how many of the Scott' will find love at the newly established Twining Hearts Ranch. I do wonder why Ms. Elliott didn't leave that extra "t" in "Hearts" since the ranch is the "Heartt" families legacy.

Excellent feel good sweet romance that I highly recommend!

I really enjoyed this book, but couldn't put my finger on exactly how it made me feel. Sure the writing is great, the story is wonderful and the romance is good. But I still couldn't figure out what this book was making me feel. Then several days after reading the book it hit me. Home. This book, this story, these characters, and their relationships made me feel like I was home. If you're like me this will be one of your new favorite book series. I am looking forward to the next book.

The story of Lottie trying to save her granfather's ranch after he leaves it to her in his will is well written and endearing. I enjoyed this clean story and kept reading to see what happened. I loved reading about the characters and can't wait to see where this story goes on the next installment.
