Trevor Braham's final work on his life and times in the Himalayas is an insight into the Golden Age of Himalayan exploration. These are the recollections of a bygone era in mountaineering.
Interesting, but certainly could've benefited from Braham writing during or immediately after his climbs. Since he wrote it 30 years after the last adventure in the book, it suffers from a lack of details that were of course impossible to recall at such a later date. It could've probably been 2-300 pages long if he had written a diary at the time, but obviously he just figured he would remember everything forever, as we all do.
