About the author

M.K. Condry

M.K. Condry writes contemporary romance that’s equal parts steamy and smart—designed to make you blush, laugh, and maybe text your partner something filthy. Her heroines are the kind of women you want in your corner (or at brunch), and her heroes? All dirty talk and sinful charm—the kind you’d fantasize about.

She’s a genre-hopping reader with a hard “HEA required” rule. When a story plays it too safe, she hunts down the dark, the taboo, or the downright unhinged just to crank the dial back up.

A Southern California homebody through and through, M.K. likes her bed made, her laundry folded, and her meals planned—until a plot twist pulls her under. By day, she writes. By night, she reads until reality fades.

Wording content warnings isn't rocket science

I was excited to try this freebie, but since I've never read this author before I decided to skim through the TWs.

The tone and phrasing irked me.

Honestly, I have no clue what to list here. I don't have any triggers when reading, so this is hard for me.

Damn, if only google was a thing and doing the most minimal part of your job wasn't so gosh darn hard 🤡

If you are adventurous or even curious, I'm confident you'll enjoy what's to come.

Because if you're not interested in this story that would mean you are a meek, boring person 🤡

Well, this meek and boring reader is taking her kindle far from here and burning all the roads on the way 🖕💀

Christian is total swoon and Frankie fiesty, both with great emotional depth. Loved the characters (main and supporting) and the way they interacted. This book had a bit of everything (romance, action, drama, suspense, and my favourite...sexy times) and kept me engaged throughout. Can't wait to see where this serious goes (hopefully including a Lu and Rosaline book). Definitely one to add to your TBR.
I received an ARC and this review is my honest opinion.

Feel like I needed the context from the series it’s connected to. There were some pacing issues. I liked how open and accepting everyone seemed to be with everyone else’s sexual preferences.

Christian has a lot of the making of a good MMC but I would have liked to dive into his struggles with the age gap and connection more. He goes from not wanting to ever cross that line to crossing it and it just kind of happens. Would have loved a “fuck it” moment. I’m wondering if some of his character development happened in the periphery of the other series through other characters.

Frankie is a good FMC. She’s independent and feisty. She did kind of read like a young 20 something though despite being in her 30s and the way all the men in her life treated her gave the vibes of like a close knit group of guys who used to get in trouble then found their women and settled some but still feel over protective of their kids. I did really like that she was very forward and the one to make the first moves/be obvious in her desire.

A few spicy scenes, several that fade to black. Hints of CNC with the self defense training and surprise attacks.

Loved this new book from MK Condry!

It’s an offshoot of her Stages series, but not a direct link. You can read this as a stand-alone. However, if you want some more context and flavor to this series, it might be worth checking that out as well.

Both main characters have a flawed, dark past and it was fun to watch each one work through the other’s defenses.

Sorry, no spoilers here, don’t want to ruin what’s inside! 🤐

Looking forward to book 2!

torn
I was torn between fascination, being touched by the protagonists deep connection and repulsion. Everybody needs to find their own way to happiness and who am I to judge, but there are some things described in this book I just couldn´t relate to - a bittersweet story I can´t decide what to do with.

Wow

What an unusual but very powerful age-gap love story. Dark, kinky, and oh so erotic. Way out of my comfort zone, but moving HEA.
