This book was an eye opener for so may reasons. First of all, being a greenhorn in the finance arena I had no idea that there are so many investment options. what I found especially amazing is the chapter where Mr Pottayil details investing for women. It just amazed me that a male author did so much in-depth research about women and their financial independence and responsibilities and wrote such a well researched chapter on it. In fact, the entire book is extremely well researched. almost every chapter is thoroughly researched and beautifully articulated. One thing I perhaps might have liked had Mr Pottayil written a bit more about f&o as that is something I am actively pursuing, But apart from that this is a brilliantly informative book and a very valuable read.

The foremost aspect I liked about this book is that the author specifically dedicated a chapter to women in investing, their roles, and the need to be involved in financial planning. Later, the author introduces the readers to basic investment terms and concepts, and the rest of the chapters deal with each investment, their pros and cons, points to know before investing, and who can benefit. Everything is explained in a clear and detailed manner with tables, graphs, maps, and lists. I highly recommend that this book be read and referred to regularly by whoever is planning to invest. Knowledge and patience are essential in investing, and author Vinod Pottayil shares valuable insights in this 6th edition book along with resourceful links for our further understanding.

Coming from a multi-generational business family, I have learnt about investing by listening to the dinner table discussions of elders around me. I also have a financial consultant who helps me make accurate decisions. But honestly, I did not know a lot beyond the basics.
That is where this book came through for me. The author takes his time to explain everything- right from the basic terms to complex formulae. I went right back to my school days when reading this book because of how simple and un-intimidating the language was.
I really would like to see this book in school, college, and family libraries.
