I loved everything about this book! Tom Maverick is a complex character, at once intelligent, humble, compassionate, cocky, and inquisitive with survival Instincts that makes him the kind of protagonist that makes a story enjoyable. An engrossing story with gripping suspense and captivating plot twists.
“..but we can still make choices that make life better, easier for the ones we love.”
Complex characters that made my blood boil with their cold determination, their ability to execute plans ruthlessly, with a cold blooded mind, cruel and evil.
I went through a rollercoaster of emotions, with an intense heart-pounding tension, fast-past action. A delicious suspenseful plot indeed!
As always within his books, Ethan Jones transports us to exotic places with evocative imagery, the atmospheric descriptions are so realistic and finely detailed the author allows you to feel it.
An incredibly powerful piece of work! I can’t wait to read Takedown #3!

Tom Maverick will do anything to protect his young son when he is threatened. As an assassin by trade, Tom has made a lot of enemies, but no one threatens his family. So, Tom takes on an assignment he is not very sure about. But in doing so, he finds out that the real people behind it want him dead. One of those people is thought to be dead themselves, so it will take everything in Tom and more to complete his mission, stay alive, take out those who want him dead and save his family.

Assassin for hire needs help with conflicting minders and his family - 4.5 stars
Starting off with a gun in his face and his young son nearby, Tom Maverick has to reign-in his impulses and deal with a demand to take on yet another murder. Tom would much rather be playing Frisbee with his son and new puppy but his client wants a certain man eliminated. Immediately.
The pressure to act is intense and continues through the entire book. Be warned. The first of several murders is about to happen yet Tom doesn't have everything going his way. As the non-stop action proceedes, there is international air travel, border crossing with live ammunition directed at Tom and his guides. Sketchy plans are discarded, replaced by clever uses of last-minute opportunities. The excitement depicted when leaving Tehran, Iran is a terrific escape sequence.
A second "handler" who wants Tom, only wants him dead. Staying close to Tom does not allow for much sleep -- even for the reader! No sooner than Tom escapes Iran, he has to jump in to try to rescue his family. It is bloody when the opponents have both territorial and numerical advantages.
You will be given a glimpse of Tom's next adventure because in his business, there is a long list of handlers who are aware of Tom's prowess and are willing to pay for quick work. This fast-moving thriller continues from where book one left off but may be read as a stand-alone.

I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
In this story, Tom is at the park with his family when he is met by another assassin who tells Tom that there is someone who wants Tom to do a job. Tom ultimately agrees and then tells his family to run while he chases Koen, the assassin and his partner. Tom eventually catches up with them.
Later Tom makes arrangements with Shevetta, his former partner, to keep his family safe. At the same time this is going on, Pawlish is meeting with Bruce to have him do a job for her. In the end, Bruce warns Tom and as a result a contract is put out on both of them. Tom agrees to do a job for Frank which involved Tom going to Iran. Tom was told that his family would be safe as long as Tom completed the assignment. As it works out, Frank and Pawlish combined forces to handle Bruce and Tom.
After Tom completes his task in Iran, he learns that his family has been taken. Tom then joins with Bruce to get resolution.
To discover who took Tom's family, what steps Tom took to locate them and how everything worked out in the end, then you need to read this book.

Another excellent action thriller from Ethan Jones, who once again proves he's one of the best in the business. Tom Maverick is back and once more on a mission to take down those responsible for manipulating him into assassinating the innocent. The author really puts his character through some stuff in this book, I won't spoil it, but there is physical as well as emotional turmoil for our man this time around. Does he get some answers? Yes. Does he get more questions? Possibly, I said I won't spoil it, remember. Each time I read a new Ethan Jones book, from any of his many series, I'm amazed at the standards he's able to maintain. There's always great action, always an addictive engrossing plot and his books just beg to be read at full speed. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed Unleashed and am eager to see where Tom Maverick goes next.

I read this book in one sitting, I had to finish it in one go because it was so compelling. I think Tom must have nerves of steel to live through the things that are thrown at him on an almost daily basis. It is not just the assignments he takes on but the enemies always after him that he has to look out for. Plus always lurking in the background is his worry about his family. This time he had to worry about all these things and a lot went wrong that he had to contend with. I have to say it was very frightening and I felt every minute of it the narrative was so powerful. The words flowed from the author's pen and came to life in my mind as if I were living through the events. Tension, sorrow, relief, and a gamut of emotions passed through me, I was a limp rag by the end. Brilliant book.

This is the second book in a series of the assassin Tom Maverick. He is a former Royal Canadian Mounted Police operative who works as a solo assassin. His task is to protect his son from several bad guys. In the process he travels to Iran to assassinate the former Chinese Ambassador to Canada who has been exiled by the Chinese Government. There are a host of characters in this novel: The bad woman, Renee Pawlish; his partner, Shivetta; several bad guys including Koen, Frank, and others; and Bruce from Tiger Sharks Security (TS). How will he get into and exit from Tehran? How will he protect his son from the bad guys? There is a lot of action in this novel. How is the Mossad involved? And where do the Russians come in? If you like thrillers, you will enjoy Unleashed.

Tom Maverick is at it again attempting to protect his family and keep on an even keel along the way. Twists and turns galore and just who is it that can be trusted? Blackmail forces Tom to accept an almost impossible contract – a Chinese politician in Iran and in turn Tom must do favours to get assistance to carry out this contract. The twists and turns reveal that not all news can be believed and Tom must cut through the deceit to protect those he loves.
But things do not go his way at times, and the scene is set for further episodes. An excellent story from this master storyteller with many unsuspected twists and turns.

Being lethal takes on a whole new meaning when Tom Maverick enters the scene. He is hell on wheels!
But being an assassin this is kind of what you have to be if you do not want to be known as a loser. You simply cannot afford to be.
But that is also why Tom is the object of a lot of finagling and treachery in Unleashed as he is a danger for people who has reason to fear him. Too bad they brought his family into the picture. Huge mistake! They really unleashed the hellion in him.
Author Ethan Jones really created a larger than life figure in Tom Maverick and this series already is filled with suspense and action you seldom get to experience. And more awaits.....!

In this episode, Tom is forced to accept an assignment due to a threat to his son. As the mission gets underway, it quickly becomes clear that Tom himself is a target, and everything unravels. With the danger to those he loves driving him, he must dig deep to stay ahead of his pursuers. He can’t afford any mistakes… Buckle up for another well-written roller coaster ride that kept me turning pages, not knowing who to trust or what to expect next. I thoroughly enjoy Mr. Jones’ books and am eager to read more!

I'm loving this series. Tom a retired assassin apparently cannot stay retired. He is forced into yet another mission in order to keep his son safe. A man will do just about anything to protect family. This book will suck you in from the very beginning. If you are not careful you might be up all night reading as it is very hard to put this one down. A fast action story full of backstabbing and double crossing. Just who can Tom trust? As usual, with many of Ethan Jones' works, you are left wanting more. I'm anxiously awaiting to find out what in next for Tom.

Another book by Ethan Jones graces my library and I am not disappointed. Far from it! It’s an edge-of-your-seat novel. Tom is in a quandary. Is he going to succeed? The story is very well written and the characters are well developed. You feel like you are right in the middle of the fracas. I certainly recommend “Unleashed” to anyone who enjoys a good thriller with lots of action.

Full suspense, drama, intrigue, and action from the first page. Tom is forced to accept an assignment due to a threat to his son. This assignment is in Iran. Will he be able to get into Iran and then get out alive? This story keep you on the edge of your set and keeps you reading to find out what happens next. If you enjoy a story with suspense and action this is a must read. Look forward to the next book.

Adrenaline pumping action will keep you awake long into the night as you start with page one. It's a non-stop, heart-pounding book with frightening scenes and awesome characters. Around every corner there is danger and Tom Has many corners to turn. Another Ethan Jones Winne.

Didn't like it. Tom Maverick chose to become an assassin. He has a young son who he pretends to care about, but spends zero time with him. He had 2 women in his life who cared for the boy and him, now they are both dead. He has done zero mourning for them, now he's in some sort of prison. He can stay there for all I care.

Tom Maverick is at his swashbucking best in this romping thriller with Ethan Jones' usual lineup of nasties for him to negotiate. Lots of tight spots and near death situations for Tom in an engaging tale. A page-turner which captivates the reader to the very end.

Utterly fascinating
Full suspense, drama, intrigue, and action from the first page I always enjoy reading Ethan’s books. The storylines are fantastic. Character development is great and plots are easy to follow.

A good suspense, action packed story I thought definitely worth reading. Has a gripping plot and good characters in it, The suspense will keep you turning pages.. Looking forward to more in this great series, that is well written.
