LA is a dream graveyard. At least that’s what I thought. Turns out I just landed a big paying part after all. Well, acting as a Billionaire wife isn’t exactly what I was thinking when I dreamed about my career, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Besides, pretending is my thing. I've been doing it for so long it's hard to tell what's real and what's not.
So, in the span of a few days, my cat and I moved from a studio apartment to a mega mansion. Too bad it comes with a grumpy British man who’s allergic to cats, annoyingly handsome, and hates anything but his job.
But there might be more to Colton's cold facade, and as it crackles, I discover a protective and caring man with a past almost as complicated as the one I'm running from.
As we get more comfortable in this fake relationship, I get a sense of safety I've never experienced in my life and the line between truth and lie starts to blur. Or is it? If it were all fake, I'm pretty sure my heart wouldn't rattle in my chest every time Colton smiles at me. Or talks to me. Or looks at me.
I know this marriage isn’t real, but what if my feelings are?
Marrying the Billionaire is the last book in the For The Love of Rom-coms series. All books are standalones and can be read in any order.
Perfect for fans ✔️marriage of convenience ✔️grumpy/sunshine ✔️billionaire heroes ✔️forced proximity ✔️complicated pasts ✔️funny banter ✔️closed door/fade to black
Marion De Ré is a closed-door romantic comedy author. She lives in the French countryside with her husband and adorable cat. You can expect all your beloved tropes in her writing as well as a good dose of humor and all the feels. When she's not reading or writing, you can find her on a plane to a far-away destination.
Adorable!!! Jane and Colton stole my heart! I love a well written Marriage of Convenience story and this one pulled me in right from the beginning. These two characters are so good and will you have rooting for their story to have a happy ending and that they'll find healing and join in their journey. They just made my heart happy!
There were some ups and downs, as is normal for relationships, but I loved how they worked together and fixed them. Especially when they don't really know each other and find themselves with a marriage contract. Colton is such a gentleman and truly has a heart of gold. I love how he cared for Jane and helped her know she could trust him and turn to him, right from the start.
It was a fun storyline that pulled me in just from reading the synopsis. And I wasn't disappointed at all! I loved it and can't wait to read more books by this author. This was the first book I've read by her. I'd seen several friends reading her books and was so intrigued by the storylines, the covers and my friends' reactions. Well, I'm definitely a fan now! If you're like me, you've seen her books but haven't tried them yet, do yourself a favor and try them!
I honestly had a permagrin while reading this one and just thinking about it now, I'm grinning! So adorable!!!
Content: There are a few bible swears. There is some kissing and the characters share a bed together but it fades to black with no details. I would consider it a clean read and would let my older teens read it.
I received a copy from the author via Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
I'm going to start off by saying that I am a cat person and the fact that Colton is allergic but was taking steps to be able to tolerate being around Jane's cat is totally swoon worthy. The banter was there also making it even better!
A captivating journey through the tangled web of truth and pretense set against the backdrop of the glamorous yet enigmatic city of Los Angeles. Jane initially views LA as a "dream graveyard," a place where aspirations perish. However, her perception shifts dramatically when she lands a lucrative acting role as a billionaire's wife, thrusting her into a world of opulence, and where her financial worries end. Her future husband, Colton Green is a handsome billionaire, so maybe it won’t be too hard to fake a relationship to the alter. But what a surprise she gets when Colton turns out to be more than she expected.
We watch Jane struggle through some of the complexities of the situation as she navigates the demands of her newfound role, all the while concealing her true identity and grappling with her own past. The dynamic between Jane and Colton, the grumpy, cold man she is forced to cohabit with, adds layers of tension and intrigue to the storyline. With each date and encounter, there is a spark that further ignites between them and I loved watching it light. Jane and Colton share parts of themselves that I didn’t expect and that only adds to the beauty of who they are. From the dimples to lending a helping hand, you can’t help but hold your breath watching their story unfold, waiting for love to spring between them.
As the facade of their fake relationship begins to crack, Jane discovers unexpected depths to Colton's character, paralleling her journey of self-discovery. Each is forced to look at their past and decide if they will let it continue to dictate their future. We witnessed the walls come down for both of them, the vulnerability of sharing the truth of who they are and the risk they take by revealing those truths.
What truly sets this novel apart is its exploration of the human heart amidst a sea of deception. Jane’s struggle between the safety of her fabricated reality and the vulnerability of her burgeoning feelings is portrayed with raw emotion and authenticity. Colton lets his guard down and Jane falls into a place in his heart that no one has ever been. Watching both of them realize that the life of isolation they both coveted before they met was a lie.
“Marrying The Billionaire” is a compelling tale of love, betrayal, and the power of authenticity. With its richly drawn characters and evocative storytelling, it is sure to captivate you from beginning to end. I didn’t want to come to the last page of the story. I enjoyed watching each of them be pushed beyond their comfort zones, how Colton grew to love Truffles the cat, and how love healed their hearts. The characters added extra charm to the story. Even the grumpy housekeeper Agnes grows on you. Before you know it, you’ll find yourself hooked - waiting for Colton and Jane to get married and live happily ever after. I highly recommend this book and it’s made its way to my favorite list for the year!
P.S. If you loved Wade from, Fake Dating the Footballer, then you’re going to love Colton! He’s a gem and stole my heart!
Thank you Marion De Ré for giving me an advanced copy of your book to read. I throughly enjoyed every minute of it!
This the second book I have read by this writer and I am an absolute fan. I liked the first book a lot but this one went much further for me. The chemistry between the characters and the tempo of the story made it impossible to put down. . It's one of those books that doesn't need to go into detail about what happens to feel like it's a good love story. . Jane Myers is jobless actress trying to survive on the rough side of Los Angeles and after five years in the city her last hope is an audition with exclusive invitation that a former theater teacher got her. . The questions seemed strange until she managed to see the person in charge and she was left speechless. But when they explained to her that the role was to get married to a famous app founder millionaire for two years, things got more suspicious. . Colton is grumpy, serious ,dry and incredibly sexy, he shouldn't have a problem getting a volunteer. For estrange and complicated it may also be her last chance to get a job and money to leave town. . But as they spend time together they both begin to notice that they are not so different and they both try to leave behind a difficult past. . I loved it, I loved Jane and the tough Colton, I loved seeing the characters from other books and meeting new characters. My only complaint could have been the third act of break up, it seemed to me that she was very harsh and he went to the last extreme, but I liked the ending and it left me with the taste of wanting to know what happens with Marcie, the beautiful expectation of the next book . . . Thanks to Marion de Ré for give me a copy of this beautiful book in exchange for my honest and voluntary opinion

If you love billionaire, grumpy x sunshine and fake dating (marriage of convenience) - this one's for you!
Colton is a dating app developer who needs a love life to attract investors, so he hires an actress to play his fictitious wife. Jane is a starving actress who needs a job right once, but getting so close to Colton will not be easy.
Marion De Ré had me at the mention of Harry Potter and Monopoly, I mean how cute is this quote:
You know how the dementors in Harry Potter freeze up everything around them and make plants fade? Colton's smile has the opposite effect.
The author built the ideal characters—lovable and entertaining: Colton, a charming grump, quite insecure at his core, whereas Jane, both outwardly and internally lovely, longs for someone to believe in her. I adored them together; they brought out the best in each other. Also another little character was extraordinary, Truffles, she was a cute addition to the story, you will say, Morgane what are you talking about it's a cat. I know, but as you read, you'll see how Truffles helped to soften a certain grump!
While the book is marketed as a rom-com, she also did a wonderful job of discussing some extremely difficult themes while remaining respectful to her readers who may have faced similar challenges. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is for everyone to read the content warning before starting a book; if you are aware of specific information, your experience will be drastically different!
Marrying the Billionaire is a fun, easy read that is ideal for the summer, so keep in mind that it will be released on Friday!
Thank you Netgalley and Marion De Ré for giving me access to an early copy, in exchange for my honest opinion! All my thoughts are my own!
ARC Book Review Marrying The Billionaire A Novel Written By Marion De Re’ Fiction -Romance Published June 2024 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the author’s fourth book in The Love of Rom-Coms Series. It can be read as a standalone, but for complete enjoyment, readers should read all the books in the series.
The premise of this book is a marriage of convenience between a grumpy male main character, Colton, and a sunshine female main character, Jane. This is a heartwarming story of two people with deep emotional wounds who have found a family with each other. This is a closed door romance.
I love when an author has included an unforgettable side character. In this story it is Agnes, Colton’s French housekeeper. She is judgmental but very protective of her boss. In the end she truly knows what is best for him.
“Life is about people… It’s about who has the biggest heart.”
I have recently discovered this author and this is the 2nd book in this series I have read and I loved it - think I actually enjoyed it more than the 1st I read. Yes it was predictable but to me that is expected in these sort of reads, and I definitely don't mean it in a negative - it just keeps me reading faster to see how it all pans out. Likeable characters, with brief appearances and mentions of Wade, who was the lead in the previous book in this series I read. Told from 2 points or view - labelled clearly as to whose point of view it was. Great storyline which was a bit deeper than normal books in this genre. Really enjoyed it and would recommend.
This was a very heartfelt, feel good, quick and easy, bingeable story about Colton and Jane, who have basically committed to happily being single for the rest of forever. Until Jane auditions for the biggest role of both their lives. I absolutely adored the way Colton was towards Jane. His protectiveness, his thoughtfulness and just overall need to make sure that she’s being taken care of, just gave me all the feels. Their development together was actually #couplegoals and I’ll forever be a little sad that I (probably) won’t ever find myself a billionaire like Colton. Every single character in this book was likeable, well except that one judgy beotch, but she was minor. Overall, I enjoyed the vibes, the characters and I loved the love 😍 very enjoyable!
What a fantastic read by Marion especially if you adore a billionaire, fake marriage sweet romance! Colton and Jane both deserve happiness especially after their upbringings and honestly they are perfect for each other. I adored their chemistry and how Colton was with Jane. I loved the cameo from Wade, Marion’s previous book and this story was filled with likeable characters. This was an enjoyable easy read and I would highly recommend it! I received a complementary copy from the author.
Billionaire fake relationship at its best. It’s the first time I’ve read anything by Marion and it certainly won’t be the last, I loved how easy this was not only get into but how it kept me entertained and engaged the whole way through. Billionaire Colton needs a bride to enable his dreams of expanding his business to take off. In comes Jane, a struggling wannabe actress who needs to pay her rent or face eviction. Colton’s gruff exterior hides a heart of gold and Jane’s smiles hides her past traumas. Their chemistry is obvious to everyone they’re trying to fool so everything appears to go to plan or will it….sit back and enjoy this fun Rom-Com. Thank you NetGalley and the Publisher for this ARC
This was a very fun marriage-of-convenience contemporary romance. All sexy scenes are fade-to-black but I still felt all the swoons from these two.
Colton needs a wife fast because his business is in trouble. I love that he decides to hire an actress for the role, and I love that the actress was psyched to get paid but also careful. I enjoyed the way this author brought their relationship together from a contractual obligation into real feelings and emotions.
ARC REVIEW - received from NetGalley for free in exchange for review Marrying the Billionaire — Pub date June 7th 2024 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Marion De Ré wrote a laugh out loud, sweet closed-door Rol Com that had me devouring the words on the pages. Jane Meyers is desperate to land an acting gig on her last two feet…Colton Green needs to expand his business to attract potential investors. What do you get when you put them together? Two characters who are very intriguing and fun to watch as they navigate their new situation of fake engagement and marriage. If you are looking for a quick read that will boost your mood, Marrying the Billionaire is your book!

Colton is a billionaire dating app creator who is trying to break into the Middle East Market but struggling due to his playboy ways Jane is a struggling actress who got a taste of acting in a play and some commercials but ultimately gets laid off at her restaurant and is about to be evicted out of her apartment. Colton’s colleague suggests a fake marriage to show potential investors that his values align with theirs and sends out a casting call stating “a pay out of a lifetime” After seeing all these women “made up” Jane comes in wearing casual clothes and make-up and Colton is immediately entranced. After answering all required questions, Colton wants to offer Jane the job, but will she take it when she realizes it’s a 2 year commitment of faking dating and marriage? He suddenly hopes so… Colton gives Jane a wing of his house and thinks that they can just live separate lives. Little does he know that after all their little small moments - he can’t picture a life without her. They share stories of their past and realize they both came up in the Foster system - Luckily Colton found a woman who loved him deeply .. Jane, not so much.
In this Dual POV romance you experience the captivating banter and mutual pining. In the conclusion of her “For the Love of Rom-Com Series” another standalone - the author keeps you engaged in alternating internal battles and a growing love story that neither of them expected. She keeps you on your toes when arguments arise and the characters create their own road blocks. As always Marion delivers another page turner that I did not want to put down.
Grumpy vs Sunshine Marriage of Convenience Forced Proximity Complicated Pasts Fake Romance
This might be one of my favorite billionaire trope romcoms that I have read! Colton Green is the designer of a highly successful matchmaking app. He isn't a secret billionaire and is relatively up front with his expectations from everyone. He is a self-made man, and so he has grown into an adult managing everything on his own.
Enter the need for an arranged marriage/marriage of convenience. He needs to project the right image to a conservative demographic, and so he needs to be in a serious relationship fast. Jane Myers, a struggling actress, auditions for the part (and payout) of a lifetime. With everything clearly spelled out in a contract (including how much tongue kissing can happen), what could possibly go wrong?
There is a lot of deep-rooted trauma in these two that dictates how things proceed. They are both skittish and have some serious walls up. But when someone finally cares, and you kind of like it, what is left but to fall in love against your will? But with some actions that dredge up old wounds, the path to HEA won't be an easy one!
[Personal thoughts...I do sometimes wish in the fake dating/ marriage tropes that we wouldn't get the "I'm not supposed to be in love with them!" inner monologues. Have a conversation, people! And maybe one that doesn't make for other issues later! Face the potential rejection like a champ! 😅]
Colton is a pretty loveable grump who is just too used to directing people just how he likes (hello, Mr. Darcy!) while Jane is outwardly and inwardly lovely and just needs someone to believe in her. I loved them together. I also loved that we got to see Wade and Roxy from Fake Dating the Footballer again and that we get a perfect setup for the next story in the series.
Thank you to the author for an Advanced Copy of her sweet book for me to read and review. All thoughts contained here are my own.
Marion De Re’s stories always pull me in from the very first sentence. She writes in such an easy and refreshing way. Marrying the Billionaire is no different. It was a fun and tenderhearted story and I enjoyed every minute.
Colton is a grumpy and handsome billionaire who has created the Love Connected dating app. When he wants to expand his business he finds that investors are not on board since he isn’t in a relationship himself. He needs a fake relationship and fake marriage for the next couple years in order to take his business to the next level so he holds auditions for the part of his wife. Jane is an aspiring actress who has just lost her job. When she auditions for Colton she has no idea at first what she is getting herself into but desperately needs money and a safer place to live so she agrees to take on the role. What neither of them counted on was this business transaction would turn into real feelings for each other.
This one was such a quick and bingeable read! I fell in love with Colton and Jane. Jane was so much fun and very smart and self-sufficient. I admired her so much and I love how fast she thought on her feet. Colton is a grump but he has a soft side that he shows to Jane early on when he helps her out. He is very protective of Jane. I loved that part of him. I love how the two of them connected through their similar past history and their love of monopoly. The two of them playing in Colton’s game room together was one of my favorite scenes in the book. Colton and Jane have an undeniable chemistry and attraction for each other. The kisses were swoony and Jane made me laugh everytime she questioned her kiss rule. The dual POV was done so well here. I love getting both of their inner thoughts, especially when Colton was cold towards Jane and we got more insight into why. Fans of Roxy and Wade from the last book are in for a real treat because we get some great cameos from them in this one. If you haven’t read that one though this story stands on its own. Marrying the Billionaire is a fun and touching story that you will definitely want to read.
Things I loved: Modern Marriage of Convenience The audition Truffles Wedding photoshoot and the first kiss Wade and Roxy appearance Touching scene at Colton’s moms grave The kisses and Jane breaking her rule Monopoly and french toast The ending Cute bonus epilogue with a glimpse into their future together
Content Awareness - fade to black scene, death of a loved one in the past, abandonment by a parent in the past.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
2.5/5 Without Spoilers: Let me preface my review by saying I read "Fake Dating the Footballer" prior to this book and thoroughly enjoyed it, so I had high expectations for this one. Those expectations weren't met. The book was pretty good up until the last 25-30%.
Pros: - The author did a decent job of providing some backstory of the characters without it being too wordy and slow. - The male character was very likeable and his POVs really saved the book for me - Some of the supporting characters were fun to read. - It's closed door.
Cons: - Although the female main character (FMC) started out great, she became more annoying to me as the book progressed, ultimately making the book unreadable to me with only 3% left. For her to be as competent as she is, it didn't make sense for her to be as oblivious as she was. - The plot of needing a wife to expand a company to middle eastern territory is WILD and not in the good way. - The chemistry between the MCs didn't feel authentic.
There are some *content warnings* for this book surrounding domestic violence/abuse and parental death. It's not descriptive and is mentioned in past context.
**REVIEW W/ SPOILERS** insert everything from the "Cons" section plus the following:
The FMC lied completely about who she was and thought that was okay, but reacted so poorly to guy who she loved wanting to marry her because he loved her too?? While I understood that she wanted to be informed, she dragged the theatrics on that one. Though, to be fair, I hated that the author didn't allow there true feelings to be revealed prior to the marriage.
Marrying the Billionaire was my second time reading Marion De Ré’s writing (the first being her novella What Happens in the Archive Room) and I must say, after just finishing a rather action-heavy gaslamp, dark romance this book was a lovely palette cleanser.
While the book is marketed very appropriately in the Rom-Com subgenre, it briefly touches on heavier topics, so, I always encourage reading the author’s notes and making choices based on your own personal preferences. Marion handles the subjects of each character’s troubled past with a gentler approach and just enough detail to soften the subject matter without lessening the emotional impact it has on the MCs and the development of their relationship.
The MCs fit the bill of grumpy/sunshine rather well, especially cold-hearted Colton, who—in keeping with the trope—warms considerably in a way that leaves you feeling a little melty inside. He remains a grump, but he softens when it matters and not only for our girl Jane; he has a soft spot in his hard heart for a certain kitten as well, despite some intense allergies. We love a covert animal lover!
Overall, this book was heavy on cute, medium on angst/stress, with a guaranteed HEA and a solid plot that fully commits to the trope it claims and gives all the warm fuzzy feels with just enough tension to keep the story from being too light or sappy. It’s a fun story that’s perfect for a poolside/beach read or with a nice glass of wine and a bubble bath.
(I received an e-copy of this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest review!)
Marrying the Billionaire follows the story of Jane, an aspiring actress in LA who is running from a troublesome past and just trying to make ends meet when she finds herself let go from her waitressing job and behind on rent. Colton is a successful billionaire who has created a LoveConnection Dating app and is trying to expand his business..the problem is that no one wants to get behind a dating app whose creator hasn't found his own match. When Jane and Colton enter into a marriage of convenience (that has an expiration date of 2 years), they both quickly realize they may have more to gain from this arrangement than a successful business promotion and financial gain.
I thought this book was such an attention-grabber and I was able to finish it really quickly, which is something I love. I also really appreciated that the author kept the book to the point...there wasn't a lot of extra "fluff" which I enjoy--the entire book had a point to it. She also did an excellent job of addressing some really difficult topics while remaining sensitive to her readers who may have dealt with those issues. I would consider this more of a "fade-to-black" romance than a true closed-door romance as sexual activity is implied without going into too much detail.
Content warnings: Talk of domestic abuse, foster care system, abandonment, death of a parent, moderate use of mild language (no F-word), closed door/fade to black romance
Recommend reading if you enjoy: Marriage of Convenience/Fake Dating, Grumpy x Sunshine, Cinderella Story/He cares for her, Dual POV, cats :)
I am such a Marion De Ré fan. Periodt. I will never read a book by this author that I won’t like. There are just some indie authors that just hit you and Marion is one of them for me
One minute I’m at the prologue and the next I’m at the epilogue. Allllll her books are just so easy to read. If you ever want a light read that is super easy to read and one you’ll absolutely love.. you literally cannot go wrong with any of her books..
I like that there were mentions of Wade and talks about their friendship, especially because I know him and how close they both are is actually so cute. It’s not just a passing friendship.. He went to the wedding with his fiance and she met him and his whole family
The chapter titles are so cute - plain and simple - but they’re very cute and kind of informative in a fun way
I love how both Colton and Jane have things they hide from the world and from each other at first. Colton hides his heart of gold with his grumpiness and Jane hides her past and traumas with her sunshine rays. I also really like that it was really easy existing in each others’ presence and slowly breaking down each others’ walls
The fact that Colton was very protective of Jane from the very start - when the paparazzi were coming in and snapping pictures of them - made me feel like if she ever needed anything, he’d immediately step up; which he did without batting an eye
I wasn’t even halfway through the book and I felt like I already had so much I wanted to say.. so anyway, READ IT PLEASE
This was another quick paced, sweet read in the For the Love of Rom-Coms series, following Wade's childhood friend Colton, a tech billionaire, as he finds himself in a predicament, needing a wife to expand his matchmaking app into the conservative Middle Eastern market. Deciding to hire an actress for 2 years to play the role, he comes across Jane Myers, a struggling LA transplant, and is captivated by her low key demeanor and natural beauty compared to the other applicants. Having just lost her waitressing job and living in a crummy apartment, Jane is eager to take on a job with a life changing payout and a luxurious place to stay for the duration. But everything comes with a price, and she must endure Colton's hot and cold behavior towards her and the pressing gaze of LA society who is sure she is just another gold digger. In forced proximity, loner Colton realizes how much he has come to enjoy Jane's presence, and they open up to each other and find they have more in common in their past than one would think. When Colton learns that the deal has gone through without the stipulation of him being married, he is afraid to lose Jane so doesn't tell her they don't need to go through with the sham marriage, in an act of betrayal that mirrors the controlling behavior of her ex, sending her running. But with the help of her new found friends, she realizes that she can make her own decisions now and that decision doesn't have to be running away again.
🩷 Thank you to Marion De Ré for a copy of Marrying the Billionaire to review.
Ahhh, this was just so cute! I was super excited to read this book because I loved the last one and this book has one of my favorite tropes. It did not disappoint. Marrying the Billionaire is the fourth book in Marion De Re’s For the Love of Rom-Coms series. Jane and Colton weren’t looking for love. They were both just trying to get by, however they were thrown together and life had other plans. I really liked both Jane and Colton and their relationship was cute. Jane was fun. I liked how she stood up for herself. She was trying to figure out her life. Jane had to learn to let Colton in and understand what she wanted in life. Colton was complicated, and he definitely fit the grumpy vibe. I really liked him and getting to read about him falling for Jane. He had to learn to let Jane in and fight for her. The romance was really sweet in the book. I liked how Colton and Jane got to know each other. They had to fight for each other as they tried to navigate their feelings. They both had to learn to talk with each other. It was sweet how they were able to be themselves with each other. Marrying the Billionaire was just perfect! I really enjoyed the characters and the story. I would definitely recommend this book! Marrying the Billionaire is a closed door romantic comedy.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.
LA is a dream graveyard or that’s what Jane thinks anyways. It’s been 5 years since she moved there and she hasn’t had any luck yet. Behind on rent and hardly any money for groceries, she needs to find a new job asap. Enter Colton, the billionaire owner of a matchmaking company. He’s trying to expand his business to new countries but since he isn’t married, investors aren’t interested. When his assitant has a casting call for a role, Jane auditions and they offer her the job. However, this role isn’t in a movie like she was thinking, it’s to be Colton’s wife. When they make her an offer, that would be life changing for her, she can’t turn it down. After all, it’s only for 2 years. Or is it?
This was such an easy, binge worthy read. I always love how Marion’s books draw me in with the characters. I liked the dual point of view of Colton and Jane and their banter. I also like how this is a closed door, fade to black, romcom. Both characters have had things happen in the past that they have to overcome, but with trust and honesty they can relate to each other. Their chemistry was cute from the start and a perfect example of opposite personalities attract.
This book will release on June 7, 2024. Be sure to add to your TBR list! While it is part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone. Thank you Marion De Re for my advance readers copy. This is my honest and voluntary opinion.
I like the blurb "LA is a dream graveyard". Jane has learned that lesson the hard way. She is literally down to her last dime, and is one day away from having to live in her car when she gets an invitation to try out for a role. She is shocked to learn that this is not your average acting gig. She has to date, get engaged and get married to a billionaire. In exchange for her acting, she will be handsomely paid, plus she goes from living in a crappy apartment to living in a mansion that she needs a map in order to navigate.
The only problem with this arrangement is the fake groom in this relationship is grumpy, reclusive billionaire Colton Green. Colton developed a super successful dating app, but has never had the desire to enter into a relationship. I found this rather humorous. This is a business deal only. Colton just keep telling yourself that.
Both Jane and Colton have a past that they have kept hidden from everyone around them. They trust no one.
It is easy to pretend to be someone else, but the heart often has other ideas. Jane was all sunshine and roses, and Colton was grumpy and icy, but you soon learn that this is a defense mechanism. As I learned more about their back stories, I liked these characters even more. There were some really sweet and tender scenes in this book that warmed my heart.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Another great book in this series! I really enjoyed this marriage of convenience story. The characters were engaging and had compelling personal histories. The development of the romance as the attraction built and they came to know and appreciate one another was excellent. And there’s a Monopoly Room, so what’s not to love? (For real. Now I want one!) Colton, a wealthy businessman, wanted a committed relationship to make his dating app more appealing in a new market. Struggling actress Jane ended up being hired as his fake partner. As they tend to do, the lines between fake and real blurred as they both developed feelings. But they both had a lot of baggage from their pasts and a lot to figure out. “It doesn’t matter how much I say the word ‘fake’. The sinking feeling is very real.” Both the main characters had to overcome their worries and fears before they could come together. “‘And when they still decide they want us? After knowing the bad and the ugly? That’s golden mate. That’s when we can finally breathe.’” This book is part of a series and there is some carryover, but it can definitely be read as a standalone. There are elements included in the book that involve death, grief, foster care, and a past emotionally and physically abusive relationship. This is a fade-to-black romance with mild innuendo and occasional mild harsh language.
Another brilliant book from Marion. This book features Jane and Colton who both have an aversion to marriage. Yet Colton founded the Love Connected app, which helps matchmake couples. Trying to expand his company into the Chinese Market, but as a single man and never being seen with the same woman longterm they are hesitant at his commitment to permanent relationship. Jane is a struggling actress/waitress/anything, she comes from foster system and trying her hardest to better her life on her terms. But now she's facing eviction with no work on the horizon she suddenly has the offer of a lifetime. But what will she have to do for it. When these two are put in a close setting both seem to drop some of the walls they have around themselves. Although both seem hesitant to be fully truthful and keep their cards close to their chests. Can they both remember this is all just for show and not real. I loved the chemistry between the main characters and although both seem to prefer their own space. Sometimes it's not necessarily true. I loved Agnus and her motherly instincts towards Colton. This is definitely one of those books that easily draws you fully in and you can't help loving the characters
Marrying the Billionaire, is your classic, fun, short but heartfelt story of two people, thrust in to a marriage of convenience.
The story revolves around Jane, our resilient and kind heroine, and Colton; our dashing, apparently stoic but softy at heart hero. Both Jane and Colton have to climb through the walls they have built around themselves, and confront their turbulent pasts to find a home in each other. I cannot say more without spoiling the story, but Marion has done a beautiful job of bringing the characters together and for such a quick read, it does pull at the reader’s heartstrings. What starts as a partnership (employer/employee) turns in to more as more layers are peeled and more room is made to feel and let people in. Some situations are extremely cliche but honestly, I strongly believe that cliches and cliches because they work! And they have worked here also.
I loved the tender bits, I loved the sprinkle of humour and I even loved the side characters. The story gives you the same kind of rush as a really well done romcom does. All in all a nice, quick, and heartfelt read.
Disclaimer: I was honoured to be given an ARC of the book in return for an honest review ❤️
What another fun read from Marion De Ré! I loved getting to know Colton and Jane and also getting to catch another glimpse of Wade and Roxy. I am a big fan of the grumpy sunshine and marriage of convenience tropes so this one was perfect for me. I also adore the cover artwork. I can't wait for Marion's new bookish/hockey series coming soon!
Jane...This girl is such a survivor. She made it through some pretty tough stuff, but still comes across as innocent and incredibly kind and caring. I really enjoyed seeing Jane finally forge some true friendships and then being chosen for a much-deserved and incredible acting role.
Colton...The grumps are always teddy bears in disguise and this guy was no exception. Once he realized that he was falling for Jane, all the sweet and precious gestures came out and I was here for it. I also really respected how Colton and Jane were able to be completely themselves with one another (absolute end game stuff).
Things I loved...Truffles (and all her kitten cuteness), Agnes (gruff at times, but lovable), the game room (😍), the trip back to Colton's hometown, the planning and creation of Colton's new charity, the hospital scene (Marion is a queen with these), and not one, but two weddings!
Another absolutely lovely rom-com that I couldn't put down! It includes two of my favorite tropes, grumpy/sunshine and fake relationship. It's so fun to watch a fake relationship morph into something real. Jane and Colton were adorable together and had such strong chemistry. I found myself rooting for their relationship right from the start. I was completely captivated with their story from the very first chapter and remained engaged till the last page. Jane's aspirations of making it in LA are slowly perishing, until she lands a role to pretend to be a billionaire's wife. She looks at this as an opportunity to showcase her acting skills, not expecting for her heart to completely fall for her grumpy employer as she begins to see what is truly in his heart. As they spend more time together, both Colton and Jane begin to realize how similar they really are and that they truly are perfect for each other. The story was well-written and entertaining and I truly had a great time reading it. The characters were interesting and endearing and I loved following their story. This was a great book and I look forward to reading what the author has next. My thanks to the author for providing a complimentary copy. This is my honest review.
