Arda comes of age in a controlled society where technology is advanced and eyes are everywhere. People are not trusted to take care of themselves, and the government is the protection between the citizens of the District and the fringe, the area beyond the farms devastated by Omega Fire. Strange events begin to occur as she nears her graduation from the Academy of Highest Learning. Glowing-eyed boys, her mother's strange behavior, and not to be excluded, hormones. Follow her story as she unravels secrets her government would rather not reveal and changes her society to be a better, more humanitarian world. Contains some mature situations.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a mix of fantasy and futuristic technology that had me so engrossed that I couldn't put it down. I read this book in 1 day. I liked the plot line and the characters. I cannot wait for the 2nd book to find out what happens next to Arda
****I received the ebook for an honest ARC review and in no way am I getting paid for this.****
A sci-fi/ dystopian world with secret agents, soldiers, and blood suckers (vampires) living underground… This book reminds me of the Divergent and Hunger Games world with all the different zones (areas to live) and serums.
We get a strong, well developed main girl character who gets disqualified to go to war. Sad that she wouldn’t be able to join her friends at war, she ends up joining in a secret agency to be a spy agent to assist in secret projects, one being Project: R.E.D.D. What she doesn’t know is that her friends are involved in this project… but what is this project really about?? Can she trust her friends?? Can she trust the people who said they are helping her and in return need her assistance? There are so many twists and turns and it definitely keeps you guessing.
I don’t want to spoil too much but if you’re interested in Divergent, Hunger Games, and Renegades, this one is for you.
Great read and thought provoking. The characters deal with a wide gambit of emotions and circumstances providing the reader a mental adventure that has a decent pace and plot. Keep an objective mind that this is in fact an alternate reality and open mind to both perspectives and situations and you will not be disappointed!
I admire the creative and thoughtful construction of the prior works that set the backstory and clues to the character’s actions and dialog.
Make your own judgements on the works of the author, not the author. Having read other “snarky” comments/reviews on this and works tends to be more sour grapes than thoughtful reflection or even constructive criticisms. Lambasting someone’s passions based on your own “ perspectives” is not only disappointing and misleading to those who read reviews, but a personal attack where none was warranted.
Dystopian. Espionage. Future Tech. Thats the vibe here. A mysterious "Omega Fire" that wiped most things out. This futuristic society is being managed by AI assistants, fake food, serums for every mood/feeling, separation by class, and more. No one talks about the secret underground society with the glowing eyes.
My initial thought was that it was a fantastic story! Dystopian/utopian stories are always cool to me because there is so much room for imagination on what could go so right that it went wrong. While I still think this story is very cool, I thought there was a LOT going on that it was almost overwhelming/distracting. Also, it seemed to me that there were TOO many love interests for the main character which is not terrible because I'm sure they will be dispersed as this full story unfolds in the series. I just thought it was a lot for the first book. **MILD SPOILER ALERT** Not to mention, I had a PROBLEM with the main character ALWAYS getting kidnapped. Like....come on.
I will give the second book a read in hopes that a couple of these issues are hammered out or the writing becomes less distracting for me. Overall, I'm not upset that I read it; I love dystopian. . . . . ʏᴏᴜʟʟ ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴛʜɪꜱ ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ʟɪᴋᴇ: •science fiction •dystopian / utopian •YA •underground society
**ARC Review** Thanks for choosing me to be apart of your ARC team for this book, Project R.E.D.D. by @fyrabginn This book will be published on May 15, 2024. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Dystopian is one of my all time favorite genres. Now add in some paranormal life with fantasy and I am SOLD!!! This plot had me going. And the characters were a little more my speed! I could totally live through this. It is a page turner. Don’t miss it. Also, give me Book 2 now of The Omegafire Series. Thanks!!
