Swoons, growls and forever
I loved this grump-sunshine, single dad, forced proximity, forbidden sports romance. The story had the perfect balance of humor, heartwarming love, real life issues, and spice as seen through the eyes of intense, strong and passionate characters. It just made me happy to read about these two 30 and 40 year olds dealing with the messy parts of real life once some of the shine has worn off and still find love, passion, and fun. Niko is a professional hockey goalie about to start the final year of his career. He is divorced and a single dad to 7 year old Ayana who he is in a custody fight over. Chloe is a widow and was a 3rd grade teacher. She’s the daughter of the head coach for a Niko’s hockey team. She recently moved to Tampa to restart her life including starting a hockey rec league. Niko and Chloe travel separately to Toronto to attend the All Stars game, meet in a bar, and share a passionate kiss but life keeps it from going further. Now that they are both in Tampa, they keep running into each other and their sexual chemistry is still off the charts. But Nico needs to focus on his daughter and the custody case and Chloe is not interested in another relationship. When Nico desperately needs a nanny to show the court he can take care of his daughter, Chloe agrees to the job. Living in the same house and caring for Nico’s daughter is its own brand of torture. Despite agreeing to be friends, Chloe and Niko’s chemistry sizzled off the page and it pulled them together no matter how hard they tried to resist being more. What follows the inevitable giving in to their passion is a wonderful journey of growls, missteps, baggage unpacking, inner voice finding, and life course correction. This heartwarming story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, deep emotions, and an engaging storyline. I am loving this series.

Sylvie and Marika teaming up to write was an excellent decision. Their writing style is hilarious. "Night Sweats and Hockey Nets" is the second light-hearted book in the quirky Rom Com series "Hot Flash Hookups." It's a feel-good story featuring forced proximity and the single dad trope, filled with witty banter that will leave you wanting more.
The journey in the book is flirty, sexy, steamy, and realistic. The characters are older than usual, which I appreciate, as Sylvie and Marika handle it so well. Chloe is determined to start anew despite menopause, and Nico might just be the one to help her. However, he must convince a judge that his daughter should live with him. Let the enticing and charming adventure begin!

I was honoured to receive this as an advance copy and this is my honest review.
This is one of the few books I have read so quickly because I loved it so much, I could not put this down. I would even say I was proud to have a book hangover.
This is the adult version of a fairy tale (including all the incredibly hot, spicy and steamy parts.)
There is the King, a Queen, a Princess and an Evil Wicked Witch. Let's not forget instead of the King's noble stead - he has a German Shepherd called Paul!
Once upon a time our King Nikolai Drugov was also a goalie for the Florida Storm Chasers ice hockey team.
Previously when our King was in Toronto playing at an All Star event little did he know he would meet someone we will know in the future as the Queen.
At this time our King was worried because the Evil Wicked Witch was holding the Princess captive. King Nikolai refused to let this happen so eventually him and the Queen who has a heart of gold came together to work as a team to rescue the Princess from the Evil Wicked Witch.
What happens to this story? What happens to the Evil Wicked Witch? Can there ever be any happy endings for all of these characters before these two amazing authors - Marika Ray & Sylvie Stewart write those two magic words 'The End'

Hockey Player Niko is focused on his career and his young daughter. The biggest issue in his life right now is his ex who keeps playing games with their custody arrangement. When he meets Chloe at a bar, he tries to ignore her but her unusual banter has them embracing in an unforgettable kiss. Little does he know she is the coaches daughter. Trying to focus on his daughter, he doesn't want to explore anything with Chloe but when she agrees to be his nanny it becomes even more difficult to stay away from her? Could it be fate throwing them together or will they ignore the signs?
This was so much fun. The first chapter draws you in right away, such a great series that keeps getting better. I felt for Niko, he is trying to do right by his daughter. Chloe is amazing, loved her character.

Ho amato il romanzo fin dalle prime pagine perché riesce a raccontare uno sport romance che non è solo romantico e divertente, ma anche intenso e profondamente emozionante grazie allo spessore della trama che affronta temi delicati e rilevanti. Nikolai è un affascinante stella dell’hockey vicina al ritiro, ma soprattutto un padre che lotta da anni per la custodia della figlia Ayana e si percepisce chiaramente quanto sia determinato a non mollare. L’ultima cosa di cui avrebbe bisogno è innamorarsi… e invece arriva Chloe, la figlia del suo coach, una presenza luminosa e inaspettata. Dopo essersi trasferita a Tampa per stare vicino alla famiglia e lasciarsi alle spalle un evento doloroso, accetta di fare da tata temporanea per aiutare Niko a dimostrare di essere un padre presente. La convivenza si trasforma presto in un’attrazione proibita irresistibile, difficile da ignorare. Ho adorato il modo in cui il loro legame cresce naturale, carico di tensione emotiva e desiderio. Tra scelte complicate e momenti di grande vulnerabilità, Niko si trova davanti a una decisione importante, proteggere ciò che ha costruito con tanta fatica o rischiare tutto per l’unica donna capace di fargli battere di nuovo forte il cuore?
Il romanzo intreccia ironia, romanticismo, seconde possibilità e crescita personale con grande sensibilità. I personaggi sono adulti, maturi, imperfetti, pieni di paure e sogni, e proprio per questo incredibilmente realistici. Niko risulta un po’ burbero all’apparenza ma è dolcissimo, soprattutto nel rapporto con la figlia ed è impossibile non amarlo. Chloe sembra forte e spigliata, ma sotto la superficie nasconde fragilità, insicurezze e una generosità che la rendono speciale. Le scene romantiche sono intense e ricche di chimica, ma sempre ben bilanciate da dialoghi brillanti e momenti emotivamente potenti. La scrittura è fluida, dinamica e coinvolgente, mi ha fatta ridere, emozionare, riflettere e commuovere. Questa serie hockey romance mi sta annientando nel senso più meraviglioso del termine, è BELLISSIMA, e mi piace in ogni sfumatura e dettaglio.
Nel terzo capitolo, che aspettavo come il Natale, il protagonista maschile è il portiere sexy, russo e scontroso (che trio, eh?) Nikolai, padre single di una piccolina per cui sta portando avanti una dura battaglia per la custodia.
Dall'altro lato c'è Chloe, figlia 42enne del coach, giovane vedova completamente innamorata della vita, esperienza coi bambini e tempo flessibile...
Chloe, altruista e generosa, si offre di aiutare Niko nella gestione della bambina e la vicinanza forzata con quest'uomo non fa che acuire un'intesa emotiva, intellettiva, fisica che si era già rivelata esplosiva dal loro primo incontro in tempi non sospetti.
Che dirvi? Non mi aspettavo di amare così questo libro che balza dritto nella classifica preferiti del 2026, non riuscivo a staccarmi, mi sono commossa, emozionata, arrabbiata, mi sono sentita coinvolta in ogni scena e ho empatizzato con tutti e due i protagonisti della coppia, cosa piuttosto rara. Un Uomo con la U maiuscola, un po' burbero, serio, buono, generoso, sicuro di sè (oltre che affascinante oltre ogni dire) insieme a una donna che sa cosa vuole, ama e si dona senza riserve, che porta sorrisi e gioia ovunque vada nonostante abbia più di un motivo per essere arrabbiata col mondo: eppure questi due insieme sono meravigliosi, perfetti e indimenticabili. Questo libro, e tutta la serie, è una celebrazione della vita, non saprei come dirlo meglio, e li rileggerei da capo più e più volte.

Night Sweats and Hockey Nets is book 3 of the Hot Flash Hookups series. It's a funny, steamy, instalove. OTT, midlife, opposites-attract, forced-proximity, curvy girl gets her hockey player romance. Nikolai "Niko" is a hunky, grumpy, professinal hockey goalie and single dad. He is close to retiring and in a custody battle with his ex for his daughter, Ayana, who is his world. Chloe is a sweet, sassy, and curvy 42 year old widow. She lost her husband after a prolonged illness and has moved home to be closer to her father and start living again. Her father happens to be Niko’s coach. The two meet at a bar and share a heated kiss, only for Niko to get a call regarding his daughter. The two part ways but keep thinking about the kiss. They cross paths again when his coach introduces his daughter, Chloe. Niko decides she is off-limits, but Chloe is still having fun flirting with him. When he needs a nanny to help his custody case, Chloe steps in to help. Will Niko be able to resist her? OMG, this has become one of my favorite series...Niko's messed up Russian phrases, and Chloe's sass and perimenopaus symptoms had me rolling. These characters are so relatable, and Ayana is completely adorable. She has the best logic when it comes to dogs, lol. The chemistry between these two was hot, and we did get a great HEA after the drama. This was a great addition to the series.

Questo è il primo libro che leggo di queste due autrici. Il terzo volume della serie ha come protagonisti Niko, un giocatore di hockey che sta lottando per la custodia di sua figlia, e Chloe, un'insegnante che ha messo in pausa la sua vita, dopo la malattia del marito e che, dopo la sua morte, decide di ricominciare a costruirsi una vita. Sappiamo tutti che una battaglia legale è molto difficile, soprattutto quando ci sono dei bambini di mezzo; ma nulla può tenere lontana una bambina dal padre che la ama così tanto. Una bambina che capirà, ancora prima di lui, ciò che lui prova. È una storia molto intensa, in cui ho percepito la paura di un padre di non potersi godere la figlia che per lui è tutto. Quest'uomo, grande e grosso, ha un cuore dolce che desidererebbe solo avere una famiglia da amare. Si percepisce anche la forza di una donna che si rialza e ricostruisce la sua vita, mettendosi in gioco con un nuovo progetto. Ho trovato molto interessante la scrittura di queste due autrici, scorrevole e ben armonizzata, tanto da non sembrare nemmeno scritta a quattro mani, data la loro bravura.

Oh my! So hot and such a great read
Such an amazing story that I devoured in one sitting.
Once I started reading I could not put my Kindle down until I’d finished it.
So much made this an incredible reading experience.
- How brave Chloe was in reinventing herself and becoming a confident and sexy woman
- I adored the flirty, hilarious banter between Niko and Chloe
- Niko’s growly demeanour, weird sayings and need to be in control of everything
- Some really hot 🔥 steamy scenes between the two
- A cute little girl who just wants to see and be with her dad and her new puppy
- The amount of times I laughed out loud at the comical going ons in this story
There is so much more to this story but best you find out by reading this book yourself, you won’t regret it.
You’ll absolutely love it!

This is a well written later in life/hockey romance with strong characters in Chloe and Nikolai a single dad to his daughter Ayana. It's an entertaining grumpy/sunshine story, moves fluidly with perfectly painted scenes and is an enjoyable read.

This storyline is adorable with characters the reader can quickly like and cheer for. Nikolai Drugov, goalie for the Storm Chasers hockey team, is in the midst of a legal battle as he tries to obtain joint custody of his daughter, Ayana. He meets a woman at a bar and enjoys a passionate kiss just as a phone call from his lawyer interrupts them before anything further can occur. When he later joins the gang at the coach’s house, he realizes that the sexy woman, Chloe, is the coach’s daughter and that makes her definitely hands-off! But when he needs a nanny to show he is able to care for Ayana properly even when work intervenes, Chloe offers to step in and help. With her sunshine personality, both Nikolai and Ayana are charmed. Even the judge is impressed at Chloe’s credentials, background, and awesome testimony that left no doubt she was absolutely perfect as Ayana’s nanny. Will Nikolai fall in love with her? Will they choose to become a real family? Or is the custody battle with Peyton still an obstacle to their happiness?

Fantastic Series
I love what these two authors have created with their series involving hot hockey guys and the hot flashing fantastic women that steam up their world! I've truly enjoyed each book, but there is something extra special about the stoic, gruff, but very sweet Nikoli that really stole my heart.

Meh. Maybe skip this one and re-read the first one…
I eagerly awaited the publication of this book. I was invested in Nikolai’s story. I was disappointed.
I didn’t really care for Chloe, I thought she was immature and annoying. The whole book - and I do mean the entire thing - Nikolai thought he wasn’t good enough; I thought it was the other way around.
I didn’t laugh out loud once. The first two books were hilarious; perimenopause was almost a side character. In this book, perimenopause was just an afterthought, sprinkled in so the book fit in the series.
I eagerly awaited the publication of this book. I was invested in Nikolai’s story. I was disappointed.
I didn’t really care for Chloe, I thought she was immature and annoying. The whole book - and I do mean the entire thing - Nikolai thought he wasn’t good enough; I thought it was the other way around.
I didn’t laugh out loud once. The first two books were hilarious; perimenopause was almost a side character. In this book, perimenopause was just an afterthought, sprinkled in so the book fit in the series.

I just could not connect with this book at all. It's a forbidden coach's daughter romance, but she's 42 years old going through perimenopause. Why does it matter who she dates? I loved the first 2 books in the series so I'll finish the series but this one was definitely not for me.

Questo libro si è rivelato una lettura davvero piacevole e coinvolgente. Ho apprezzato molto il fatto che i protagonisti siano adulti: una scelta non così scontata, ma che ho trovato estremamente interessante. Soprattutto visto che probabilmente era la prima volta che leggevo dí protagonisti che avessero sui 40 anni circa.
Il trope del single dad è tra i miei preferiti, ma ciò che mi ha colpito di più è stata la sensibilità con cui vengono affrontati alcuni temi importanti. Argomenti come la menopausa, i cambiamenti del corpo, il bisogno di riscoprirsi come donna oltre il dolore e le responsabilità quotidiane non sono così comuni, e qui trovano spazio in modo delicato e profondo. È stato davvero bello leggere una storia che dà voce anche a questi aspetti e non solo al romance.
Lo stile è semplice e scorrevole, ma allo stesso tempo intenso. La tensione tra i protagonisti è costruita benissimo: così palpabile da farmi sentire quasi di troppo mentre leggevo 🧯.
Le scene più spicy sono poche, ma curate e ben scritte, perfettamente in linea con la storia.

Ma man mano che si conoscono meglio, emerge anche una connessione più profonda, fatta di affinità e comprensione reciproca, nonostante le loro differenze caratteriali. Eppure cercano di non fare nulla proprio perché Nico è concentrato sulla figlia e sulla battaglia legale.
Nico si trova quindi “ costretto” ad affrontare una delicata battaglia per l’affido della figlia, visto che la sua ex moglie non gli permette di vedere o passare del tempo con la figlia.
Chloe non esita quando lo vede in difficoltà a stargli accanto, offrendogli supporto e sostegno. La convivenza forzata poi intensifica ulteriormente il loro legame, trasformando quella tensione iniziale in qualcosa di più profondo e ormai impossibile da ignorare.
Ho apprezzato molto la maturità delle loro scelte: entrambi sono disposti a mettere da parte se stessi per il bene dell’altro o di Ayana. Ed è stato bellissimo vedere come Nico si prenda cura di Chloe, con gesti semplici ma pieni di significato.

Nikolai non vuole problemi, non vuole qualcosa di momentaneo vuole qualcosa di permanente. Dall’altra parte c’è Chloe, che è tutto il contrario. Dopo la morte di Joshua, suo marito (che non amava, ma lo vedeva solo come un amico, ma non voleva abbandonarlo, essendo che aveva il cancro e non voleva dargli ancor più qualcosa per essere triste), circa solo qualcosa di momentaneo, solo sesso . Voi vi chiederete come possono due persone così diverse a finire insieme. Il destino. Leggetela per scoprirlo.

Nikolai , un uomo di trent’anni più o meno, alto, robusto, sexy, biondo e russo. Un determinato, molto responsabile e abbastanza possessivo con le cose SUE . Inizialmente può apparire una una persona burbera, ma profondo è un grande tenerone. Personalmente lo ritengo una grande green Flag.
Chloe invece è una donna più o meno quarantenne. Una donna apparentemente forte, indipendente , che non la tocca niente e nessuno . Ma nel profondo è una donna molto fragile, che non riesce ad esprimersi e non viene mai ascoltata, con il pensiero costante che nessuno le dia importanza.
Secondo me una altro protagonista, è Ayana ,la figlia di Nikolai. Io personalmente ritengo che abbia avuto un ruolo, non importantissimo, ma importante. Se non ci fosse stata lei, non si sarebbero avvicinati quel poco in più Nikolai e Chloe.
❤️🔥| L’attrazione fisica e non . L’attrazione tra Nikolai e Chloe e qualcosa di esplosivo. Solo con gli sguardi riescono a parlarsi e a dirsi cose che vorrebbero dirsi .
Per più della metà del libro, tutte e due erano consapevoli della loro attrazione reciproca, ma Nikolai non era alla ricerca di solo sesso e basta, però era immensamente attratto. Mentre invece Chloe voleva solo sesso e basta.
Dopo la prima volta che scoparono , fu per loro molto difficile stare lontani perché ne volevano sempre di più. In tutto questo tempo oltre al sesso, nasce anche un sentimento di amore l’uno verso l’altro. Perché alla fine non è mai stato solo sesso.
💐| Concludo col dire che mi sono affezionata immensamente a queste storie, e la rileggerei mille e mille volte. Ho amato tutti i persona, tutti ben costruiti sia fisicamente che psicologicamente. Mi sono molto affezionata a Ayana , la figlia di Nikolai , una ragazza dolce quanto intelligente. ho amato le loro storie d’amore, ma anche le scene Spicy🤭. Mi sono ritrovata immensamente nelle insicurezze di Chloe, ma anche nella determinazione di Nikolai. Ho amato la loro storia d’amore,e sogno un giorno di trovare qualcuno che mi ami come Nikolai ama Chloe .

Premessa: gli sport romance sono il mio guilty pleasure, quindi partivo con un entusiasmo che non sto nemmeno a dirvelo!
Il libro è il terzo della serie “Hot Flash Hookups”, ma sono tutti stand alone e si può tranquillamente leggere senza aver letto gli altri (come me).
Nonostante il pochissimo tempo a mia disposizione mi sono divorata questo libro. Non credevo potesse prendermi così tanto, è la prima volta che leggo di due protagonisti over 30 e sono rimasta piacevolmente sorpresa. Le autrici hanno fatto un lavoro stupendo, trapelava la chimica già dal primo bacio e per tutto il tempo pensavo solo a quando si sarebbero baciati di nuovo. Tra di loro c’è un ago gap, anche se non grandissimo, e quella ad essere più grande è Chloe.
Questo libro racchiude la verità della vita, quello che può succedere a chiunque di noi e lo fa con una passione e una dolcezza che ho apprezzato molto. I protagonisti sono un giocatore di hockey divorziato padre una bambina di 7 anni e una donna di 42 anni vedova in perimenopausa. Nel corso del libro vediamo come Nikolai, giocatore professionista russo, e Chloe, una ex maestra e giocatrice di hockey, che decide di allenare una lega di bambini, sviluppano il loro rapporto, come i loro sentimenti nascono in modo profondo e mettono radici quando nessuno dei due se lo aspettava. È un forbidden love per tanti motivi così veri e diversi che percepisci il conflitto interno come fosse tuo. Ti coinvolge così tanto da non voler chiudere il libro, perchè hai bisogno di sapere cosa succede la pagina dopo.
Ho apprezzato moltissimo come prima tra loro nasca un’amicizia, come venga inserita Ayana -la figlia di Nikolai- al primo posto e non venga dimenticata solo per un amore passionale. Come quella bambina sia importante anche per Chloe e non solo per lui.
Non riesco a trovare dei difetti che mi abbiano fatto storcere il naso, mi ha presa davvero fin dai primi capitoli e penso che il lavoro fatto sia stato eccellente, la scrittura poi è molto scorrevole e nonostante sia scritta a quattro mani non c’è quella sensazione di “okay è cambiata scrittrice”, credo si siano amalgamate molto bene e questo mi ha fatto apprezzare ancora di più il libro.
Avrei tanto da dire, perchè mi sono sentita coinvolta nonostante io sia più piccola di questi protagonisti. Le scelte che uno fa nella vita, anche se non sempre positive, portano a quello che poi saremo un giorno, a chi incontreremo al momento giusto e questo libro incarna proprio questa prospettiva. Non bisogna mai accontentarsi e in caso succeda bisogna saperlo riconoscere e poi andare avanti a testa alta, avendo il coraggio di cambiare quello che non ci fa stare bene. La vita non finisce a 40 anni e questo libro parla proprio di questo.
Date una possibilità a questo libro, vi farà ridere e appassionare e apprezzerete questo found family che ha tanti imprevisti ma anche tante gioie da farvi venir voglia di urlare contro il cuscino alle due di notte.

Devo dire che Night Sweats and Hockey Nets mi ha sorpresa soprattutto per l’età dei suoi protagonisti. Non è così comune trovare nei romance personaggi davvero adulti, con vite già piene di esperienze, errori e responsabilità.
Chloe ha più di quarant’anni e affronta le prime avvisaglie della perimenopausa. Niko è all’ultimo anno della sua carriera come portiere di hockey professionista e sta combattendo una dura battaglia legale per ottenere la custodia condivisa della figlia. Sono due persone che non stanno scoprendo l’amore per la prima volta: stanno cercando di capire se sono ancora capaci di crederci.
La struttura della trama non è particolarmente sorprendente. Gran parte della storia ruota attorno alla resistenza all’attrazione tra i due protagonisti. Chloe, dopo un matrimonio logorante, desidera solo relazioni leggere. Niko è convinto che per rendere felice una donna bisognerebbe metterla al primo posto, ma nella sua vita quel posto è già occupato da sua figlia.
La scrittura delle autrici è fresca e molto scorrevole. L’attrazione tra i protagonisti è costruita bene, cresce con naturalezza e le scene spicy sono presenti ma mai eccessive. Funzionano perché sono coerenti con il rapporto che si sviluppa tra i due.
Ho apprezzato molto il personaggio di Chloe. È una protagonista che rappresenta una fascia di donne raramente raccontata nel romance. Non è la classica bellezza perfetta e senza tempo: è una donna sportiva, sana, consapevole. Ha chiuso una fase della sua vita ed è pronta a iniziarne un’altra.
Il romanzo trasmette un messaggio molto semplice ma importante: superare una certa età non significa aver esaurito le possibilità. Le persone che circondano Chloe e Niko — amici, genitori, colleghi — rafforzano questa idea mostrando prospettive diverse sul tempo, sulle scelte e sulle seconde occasioni.
Non c’è un vero antagonista. Peyton è una presenza scomoda, ma non diventa mai un ostacolo reale. Il vero conflitto nasce soprattutto dalle paure dei protagonisti stessi. È una scelta narrativa che rende la storia più realistica e meno artificiale.
Un altro elemento molto riuscito è il rapporto tra Niko e la sua bambina, Ayana. La sua lotta per ottenere la custodia aggiunge una dimensione emotiva più profonda alla trama.
Non è un romanzo che lascia con il fiato sospeso e non costruisce una tensione emotiva estrema. Probabilmente è questo il motivo per cui mi sono fermata a quattro stelle.
Ma resta una lettura molto piacevole. È una storia di seconde possibilità, di persone che hanno già vissuto abbastanza da sapere quanto sia prezioso ricominciare.
A volte non serve una tempesta per far battere il cuore. A volte basta una pista di ghiaccio, una bambina da proteggere e due persone abbastanza coraggiose da concedersi un’altra possibilità.

Nikolai is focused on two things...getting joint custody of his daughter Ayana and his hockey career. When he meets a beautiful and flirtatious woman named Chloe in a bar, they exchange a heated kiss that is interrupted by a call from his lawyer. Even though he knew it was for the best, he couldn't seem to get her out of his thoughts. They say everything happens for a reason, and the reason is made apparent while attending a cookout at his coach's house. Nikolai finds out that Chloe is the coach's daughter...and that makes her off limits to him. However, that theory is tested when she becomes the nanny for Ayana.

The story that unfolds is well-written with an amazing cast of characters. Nikolai is a bit grumpy but so lovable at the same time. His devotion to his daughter is beyond admirable, and I love the relationship he has with Ayana. Chloe has been through a lot in the last few years of her marriage, and I love that she is reinventing herself. I also love how she didn't hesitate to help out Nikolai when he needed help.
Overall, this is just a wonderful story. Nikolai and Chloe have an undeniable chemistry, and the heat between them is off the charts. I love the witty banter, especially with Nikolai mixing up American phrases. Ayana is absolutely adorable and adds a lot of humor and feels to the story. I couldn't help but laugh at her reasoning for having two dogs, as well as the names she mentions. It just happens to be one of my tv obsessions...lol. The supporting cast of characters will be recognized from the previous books in this series, and it is fun catching up with them as well. Each book can be read as a stand-alone. However, I highly recommend reading the entire series.

When he meets a beautiful and flirtatious woman named Chloe in a bar, they exchange a heated kiss that is interrupted by a call from his lawyer. Even though he knew it was for the best, he couldn't seem to get her out of his thoughts. They say everything happens for a reason, and the reason is made apparent while attending a cookout at his coach's house. Nikolai finds out that Chloe is the coach's daughter...and that makes her off limits to him. However, that theory is tested when she becomes the nanny for Ayana.

OMG - just perfect!
Nikolai is a grumpy hockey goalie, playing for the Florida Storm Chasers. His focus is on the game, and his daughter, of whom he's trying to get joint custody.
Chloe recently moved to Tampa to be near friends and family. Her husband died a year ago, after a long illness, and she finally feels like it's time to move forward.
They meet in a bar in Toronto, of all places. He's there for the All-Star game and she's visiting friends. They each have their reasons for being in the bar, and they flirt for a bit. They share nothing more than a kiss before he gets a call and has to leave, regretting a little that he didn't at least get her number.
Not long later and Nikolai is at his coach's house in Tampa for a team BBQ, and coach introduces his daughter. Chloe. The air between them still crackles, but this is even more reason that he cannot get involved with her.
OMG the tension is so hot! They have wicked chemistry, but as much as she tries to get him to admit it, he insists they can't be together. He respects her father too much, and he has his daughter to consider. He can't do anything that could jeopardize his custody case.
Except when he needs a nanny to prove he can provide a stable environment for his daughter, and Chloe steps in to help. Her background as a teacher makes her perfect for the role. Before he knows it, Chloe is moved into his house, taking care of his daughter, who just loves Chloe.
Nikolai is determined to keep things professional between himself and Chloe, but how long can he resist when she is so close? And seeing her with his daughter just makes him want her more. He nearly tears himself apart trying to do the right thing, but maybe that's not the right thing after all.
Their interactions are so charged, and it really just all feels like it's building up to the breaking point. And I have to say, I could just hear Nikolai's accent in my head as he spoke, and it was just so hot!
It was nice revisiting some friends we've come to know, and I can't wait for the next book!

Dopo che Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes mi ha conquistare il mio cuore (qualche mese fa ho dedicato anche per lui una recensione specifica) non poteva che farlo anche “Night sweats and Hockey nets”, terzo volume autoconclusivo della serie “Hot Flash Hookups”.
In questo caso, rispetto al primo volume, ci troviamo effettivamente ad avere la componente Hockey come centrale e parte della trama, perché non è solo il nostro protagonista maschile Niko ad avere un interesse in tale sport ma anche Chloe, figlia del coach di Niko. La coppia è totalmente e inconfondibilmente grumpyxsunshine, dato il carattere chiuso e un po’ burbero(in apparente) di Nicolai e quello aperto e solare di Chloe.
Nel corso della trama sono presenti cenni anche ai protagonisti dei volumi precedenti, tra cui il matrimonio tra Roman e Olivia i miei preferiti in assoluto.
Quello che apprezzo dell’autrice è che i personaggi di cui ci racconta non sono giovani adulti, ma over30 che hanno già affrontato relazioni difficili/divorzi/affidamenti di minori. Questo porta un maggior carico emotivo da parte dei protagonisti che si ritrovano a non essere concentrati principalmente al loro interesse amoroso, ma dovendo alle volte mettere in secondo piano rispetto alla cura di figli e al lavoro.
A volte conciliare tutto questo non è affatto una passeggiata e il nostro esempio è proprio Niko, padre divorziato della piccola Ayana che lotta per mantenere l’affidamento congiunto con una restia ex moglie.
Chloe invece si ritrova a vivere una nuova vita da vedova dopo che il marito malato da tempo è venuto a mancare. Chloe decide di ritrasferirsi a Tampa vicino ai genitori e ricostruire la sua vita, avviando una nuova attività come allenatrice di hockey per bambini che vogliono imparare tale sport a livello amatoriale. Si ritroverà inoltre a proporsi in un momento di difficoltà per Niko come tata per la figlia, con la quale instaura fin da subito un legame dolce e speciale.
Una lettura davvero piacevole e scorrevole, che fa sorridere e che intrattiene. Fin da subito non si può far a meno di tifare per il lieto fine dei protagonisti❤️

Quel bacio rubato doveva rimanere un segreto. Niko è a un passo dal ritiro, intrappolato in una battaglia legale per la custodia della figlia e schiacciato da responsabilità che non gli lasciano spazio per errori. L'ultima cosa di cui ha bisogno è una donna capace di incasinare il suo fragile equilibrio. Chloe, però, è esattamente questo, impulsiva, libera, la figlia del suo allenatore... e la tentazione che non dovrebbe nemmeno guardare. Quando diventa la tata temporanea della bambina, la convivenza trasforma un'attrazione proibita in un desiderio impossibile da ignorare. Tra notti di tensione e scelte che possono cambiare ogni cosa, Niko deve decidere di proteggere ciò che ha costruito il rischiare tutto per l'unica donna che riesce a farlo sentire vivo. Perché la partita più difficile non si gioca sul ghiaccio, ma dentro di lui. Un romance di hockey carino e diverso dal solito, con dei protagonisti un po' più grandi rispetto a quello a cui sono abituata a leggere. La storia in sé è molto bella e piacevole. Tratta di tema delle quali non avevo mai ritrovato in un libro, almeno per quello che ho letto io fino adora. Chloe ha 42 anni, è in perimenopausa e vuole finalmente godersi la vita. Una donna che non ha paura di mettersi in gioco e soprattutto di ricominciare. Nikolai è in lotta sia con l'ex moglie per l'affido della figlia ma anche per i suoi sentimenti verso Chloe. Giustamente prima di buttarsi in una storia nuova vorrebbe almeno concludere la battaglia legale che sta affrontando. Ayana, quella dolce bambina è un uragano e il piccolo cupido personale del padre. Come ho detto prima la storia, ho avuto modo di essere piacevoli da leggere e forse avrei potuto dargli anche di più ho riscontrato un problema con la scrittura (traduzione). Non sono riuscita ad entrare nel libro. Mi sono sentita una lettera passiva che leggeva ma che non gli arriva nulla. Nonostante quello che lo consiglio, perché il 'problema' che riscontrato è mio, la storia merita.

dal primo momento che ho sentito parlare della serie Hot Flash Hookups, sono stata colpita proprio da questi dettagli: niente cliché e solite tiritere, finalmente abbiamo una protagonista femminile prossima alla menopausa che ci racconta questa parte di vita e ci sensibilizza su un argomento, per moltə, ancora sconosciuto. (e tutti i libri della serie hanno questa caratteristica!)
ed è veramente bello vedere l'inclusività nei libri!

Written in first person from an alternating dual POV, this third book in series can be read as a standalone and ends in a HEA. Readers should be aware that as an interconnected series, characters from previous books play important roles in this one.
Niko is the grumpy goalie who is in a bitter custody battle with his ex for his 7-year-old daughter. He growls and grumbles and has the funniest sayings that just don’t translate well into English. His focus is narrow and consists of his career and his daughter.
Chloe is a 42-year-old widow who returns home to Tampa to be closer to her dad, who is the coach for Niko’s team. I love how she chooses to take this time after loss to reinvent herself and become the confident sexy woman that she has hidden for so long. I really appreciated her maturity and her ability to stand up for herself and what she wants and deserves as she pursues her dreams. When she becomes the short-term nanny to Niko’s daughter to help him win visitation, she forms a very sweet relationship with little Alana that I adored.
The heat between Niko and Chloe is intense. Their chemistry flies off the page and I loved the spicy scenes as Chloe embraces that part of herself. It takes Niko a minute to realize that he had fallen hard for Chloe when he really wanted to avoid it. The man is loyal and tender under his gruff exterior though. He shows how much he cares with a bunch of actions even when he won’t say the words. The writing flowed and there are several laugh-out-loud moments. This was a very enjoyable read. I love this series and how relatable it is. The maturity of the characters helps avoid some of the irritating miscommunication that sometimes find their way into romance. I loved it.

Uno sport romance diverso dal solito perché non siamo al college, ma siamo già nel professionismo ed i protagonisti sono Nikolai, portiere degli Storm Chaser, che sta per affrontare la sua ultima stagione in squadra prima del ritiro da giocatore professionista e Chloe che si è appena trasferita a Tampa, per ricominciare, dopo aver perso suo marito e lasciato il suo lavoro da insegnante.
Niko sta affrontando un momento della sua vita particolare, sta per lasciare lo sport professionistico e sta affrontando una battaglia legale contro la sua ex moglie per l’affidamwnto di sua figlia Ayana. Chloe sta cercando di lasciarsi alle spalle il lutto e un matrimonio comunque sbagliato, per concentrarsi su se stessa e provare a avviare una scuola di hockey per bambini che vogliono avvicinarsi a questo sport, affrontando anche le difficoltà naturali che la donna si trova a vivere con l’avanzare dell’età… la perimenopausa.
Ma attenzione Chloe è un vero portento, solare, decisa a trovare la sua strada, nonostante la sua vita le abbia mess sulla strada qualche piccolo intoppo, e la sua natura è proprio uno tsunami per Niko, uomo tutto d’un pezzo, introverso e completamente dedicato alla lotta per sua figlia. L’attrazione tra i due è insostenibile, e nonostante ci siano tanti motivi per non lasciarsi andare, cedere è inevitabile.
Ci sono tanti motivi per non stare insieme, l’affidamento, le attenzioni che Niko dovrebbe concentrare quindi solo su Ayana, il fatto che Chloe sia anche la figlia dell’allenatore di Niko, ma se invece fossero solo delle scuse per non concedersi una possibilità?

Night Sweats and Hockey Nets è una storia che unisce romanticismo, ironia e dolcezza, con tanta tensione tra i due personaggi.
Il primo incontro tra Niko e Chloe è già carico di scintille e promette fin da subito qualcosa di interessante. C’è chimica, c’è attrazione, ma anche quello scontro iniziale che rende tutto più vivace. Quando però si ritrovano, la dinamica cambia in modo molto bello: non si buttano subito nella passione, ma iniziano quasi come amici. Si conoscono davvero, costruiscono fiducia passo dopo passo, lasciando che il rapporto cresca in modo naturale. La tensione, però, resta sempre lì, palpabile, pronta a esplodere. Il modo in cui lui la guarda esprime benissimo tutta l'attrazione che lui prova.
Uno degli aspetti che ho apprezzato di più è il ruolo della figlia di Niko. Lui non è il classico sportivo concentrato solo sulla carriera: mette sua figlia al primo posto, senza esitazioni, in qualsiasi momento. E lo fa anche con Chloe, mette subito in chiaro che la figlia verrà sempre prima di tutto. È un elemento che dà profondità al personaggio e lo rende ancora più affascinante. Allo stesso modo, è stato molto bello vedere Chloe inserirsi nella loro vita con delicatezza, costruendo piano piano un rapporto sincero e tenero con la bambina.
E poi ci sono i momenti di flirt. Assurdi, divertenti, pieni di battute e provocazioni leggere che strappano più di una risata. Quelle scene sono tra le più riuscite del libro: mostrano la complicità tra i due protagonisti e rendono la lettura ancora più piacevole.

This is the third book in this series and wow what a book. Chloe has moved to Tampa to start over after her husband's died a year ago. She's now ready to start living for herself again. Deciding to start up a junior hockey team for kids just to enjoy the game. When she meets a handsome stranger in a bar she decides that maybe it time to live for fun. After a kiss that she certainly wasn't expecting to effect her like it does, he recieves a call and up and leaves. Well somethings are destined to go nowhere. Nikolai has two priorities in his life his daughter and hockey, but fighting for joint custody is a battle in itself. When he meets a gorgeous curvy woman in the bar he let's himself enjoy a moment for himself, and boy can she kiss. Leaving to take a call is the best option, this can't and won't go anywhere. When coach organises a group announcement and to welcome his daughter. He's shocked to see Chloe standing there. This can't be happening, he has to focus and now here is the one thing that may cause everything to fail. From start to finish this book is addictive, funny, steamy and definitely makes your heart melt. Can Chloe finally live her life how she wants and be somebodies priority for a change. Between goats, hot sweats, an adorable little girl and stubborn ex's. Will these two ever be able to admit how they feel or will pride stand in the way. I totally loved this book and the way it's compassionate towards perimenopause and the effects it can have. If you love to curl up with a steamy rom com this is totally the book you want.
