Only the cheetah knows who the killer is…and she isn't talking!

Hollywood 1936
It seems like just another day of putting out fires when one of Olympus Studios’ actresses goes missing. Maisie Hart is due to make an appearance on the balcony of her home for a public appearance, but seems to have vanished. Lisette Darling is put into service to find her.

What results is a madcap adventure that uncovers a puzzling crime scene, a mystery that may be worth a million dollars, two dead bodies…and a cheetah!

Oddly enough, the only innocent party appears to be the cat.

The Cat and the Cadaver is the fourth book in the Lisette Darling Golden Age Mysteries series set in 1930s Hollywood. Enjoy a mix of wit, twisty suspense, and the glitz and glamour reminiscent of classic films all set in a cozy mystery.

Colette Clark lives in New York and has always enjoyed learning more about the history of her amazing city. She decided to combine that curiosity and love of learning with her addiction to reading and watching mysteries. Her first series, Penelope Banks Murder Mysteries is the result of those passions. When she’s not writing she can be found doing Sudoku puzzles, drawing, eating tacos, visiting museums dedicated to unusual/weird/wacky things, and, of course, reading mysteries by other great authors.

A Cheetah in the Bedroom!

No this book isn’t about an older woman ravaging younger men…in fact the cheetah is a wedding gift. No if you are thinking that Byron finally convinced our favorite Hollywood fixer to get married. The cheetah was a gift to a rising young actress that Olympus Studios is grooming for greatness. A sweet talking gangster talks said actress into running away with him to Nevada for a quickie marriage. Unfortunately three men end up dead in her wake. Our heroine has to help the police untangle the web of lies of an old man’s fortune, the gangster’s plot, a bumbling young writer and a sleazy photographer. Just a day in the exciting life of a Hollywood fixer.

Fame, Infamy and Fortune

Lissette Darling has a dream job in Hollywood. While the Depression has hit most Americans hard, they still seek solace from The Dream Factory. As the assistant "fixer" at Olympus Studios, it's her job to tamp down rumors that would tarnish their stars' image and lower corporate profits.

Lisette's intelligence and wit help her navigate a double murder at a star' s home in a background that pays homage to a fascinating film era. All the books in this series are both educational and fun. a d I think you'll continue to ride along on her adventures.

Very enjoyable

Lisette Darling can alway be depended upon for a zany, enjoyable adventure.

In “The Cat and the Cadaver,” Lisette must deal with a Cheetah, several cadavers (not simply one), scheming studio associates, the LAPD, of course, and her own private detective.

Colette Clark has given us a clever, convoluted, sometime frustrating plot, but Lisette is up to the challenge and - thankfully for those of her gender - she cracks the case on her own.

I strongly recommend “The Cat and the Cadaver”(s).

A cozy mystery set in the golden age of Hollywood this madcap has Lisette Darling, fixer for a movie studio, dressing up as a missing actress so that the bus touring the hills can see one of their favorite stars. But that is just the beginning of this madcap adventure that wouldn't seem out of place as the plot for a movie when she discovers a cheetah roaming free in the house and a body drops down from pergola. What follows is hijinks, funny moments, maybe a bit of romance and a very twisty mystery that will keep you guessing until the end.

Lots of fun.

What a surprise!!

I really love this series. I can honestly say this one took me for a ride in my head for trying to figure out what happened.

At least this murder was solved quickly, even though there were so many suspects to consider (in a good way of course). Though I'm sure I would have had a large headache if I had the day Lisette did :(

I can't wait to see what happens in the next book!!

Don't get me wrong, I liked the story. I just felt that there was so much unnecessary running around that detracted from the story. Oh, I also found them saying that they were going to see a little birdie or flower annoying.

Another Great Read

Keep 'em coming. I love these books about Lisette and her many adventures in Hollywood. The studio system is quite fascinating. More, more, more!

The best Lisette Darling mystery yet. I'm a fan of both of Ms. Clark's series, but this one is a fast moving,, twisty gem.
