They were MI6’s most lethal assassins. Killers who lived in the shadows. Until now...
MI6 operative Duncan Grant has been officially missing in action for the last month, going on deep-cover to hunt down those responsible for the death of a close ally.
Half a world away, retired under new identities, former Albion agents are being murdered.
And now there’s only one left.
Given an ultimatum to save the last Albion or face expulsion from the agency he’s sacrificed so much for, Grant has no choice but to pursue both missions at the same time.
Unbeknownst to him, Grant’s relentless pursuit of revenge is about to reveal devastating secrets within the British establishment.
I've been a fan of thrillers ever since watching All the President's Men when I was far too young to understand what was going on. Now every day I get to indulge in my passion for fast-paced stories, characters you really care about, and to bring you behind the scenes of the intelligence agencies and the most secretive parts of the political world (the parts they don't want you to know about).
It's often said that I write cinematically, which isn't a coincidence, as my influences are as much in cinema as literature: Daniel Craig's Bond films, Glengarry Glen Ross, Spartan. TV has also been a major factor in my writing. From the original BBC miniseries State of Play, David Simon's The Wire, and Aaron Sorkin, writer of The West Wing; and the US version of House of Cards.
I have worked in the book industry since I was 21.
Andrew Raymond has created both a believable character with Duncan Grant and original plots, once more The Last Albion continues his journey from the first book and second into the third, peopled with some of the characters, his handler, the head of MI6,the amoral British Home Secretary . It is a fantastic read engrossing plot, great action sequences, a couple of unexpected reveals which keep you reading late into the night. When book 1, Official Secrets was published it was very evident that Andrew Raymond had created a thrilling new series and anti hero with Duncan Grant, I recommend you read them all. For some inexplicable reason Amazon had cancelled pre orders due to a technical error, the impact of this for an author can be catastrophic,Mr Raymond has been remarkably understanding, may I suggest you purchase all 3 books in this incredible series, to cheer him up and support his writing.
Wow, what an engrossing read this was. It's been a while since we last saw Duncan Grant and he's back with a vengeance here in the third book of the series.
It's full of action, and as usual from this author, full of twists along the way and you never know who to believe or what will possibly happen next. It's all set up nicely now for the next one which is already guaranteed in my eyes anyway to be impossible to put down.
