Redundant, bloated, and full of fluffy self-help hype. I learned nothing I didn't already know, even though I'm relatively new to this particular subtopic of productivity and only know the basic definitions of the titular strategies. This 150-page book could have been a blog post.
The art is almost certainly AI or a mix of AI and clip-art, and the one chart is clearly mislabeled. For some reason, there's a random sentence in Italian at the bottom of page 86. The word choices are occasionally strange (e.g., "a dollop-sized task"), which could be a fault of translation but in my experience is far more likely to be rooted in specific word changes to avoid plagiarism filters. In one example/case study, a person is called Maria in one sentence and Mary in the next. There are strange and erroneous punctuation choices, like an em dash in the middle of an independent clause. All of this leaves me eyeing the book with deep skepticism, wondering if it was written by AI or plagiarized from actual books on the topic.
The Amazon author page shows a somewhat generic photo of a Japanese man in his sixties or seventies but uses female pronouns, which could again just be a translation error (but if so, it's a grave one), and the book itself says nothing about translation or about the author. The Goodreads bio is completely blank. In the book itself, there's no bio, no headshot, no information about a publishing house, no artist credit, no bibliography, no credentials... It's all very sus.
i feel like this book was an okay read. most of it was repetitive in chapters talking about each topic but there were some really nice eye opening quotes and sentences here and there! also really glad that i bought this book by an asian author so it made the stuff he was saying more genuine!
