This book opens with a bang; I did not realize that Homecoming was a 65 page graphic novel and it was incredible. I absolutely loved it. It was followed by a four part “Return of the Defenders” run, which was ass lol. Some classic 90’s slop. Still enjoyable, but I could have set it down at any point without really caring if I ever learned what happened next. Surfer was barely involved and the cast felt super bland. This era of hulk was awful by the way. Anyways there was also a short villains gallery and a firelord/ eros issue, both of which I enjoyed. Then there was the titular “Herald Ordeal” run, which was 6 issues and very solid in my opinion. I really liked that whole stretch. Overall I would say the defenders stretch is the only thing holding this book down, the rest of it ranges from good to excellent in my opinion.
This really introduced me to silver surfer. And I loved it. I red it in 2/3 days tops. It gave me a good understanding of all the heralds of galactus, and his demeanor towards life and his creations.
