Beautii Hamilton is a highly skilled, self-motivated, hardworking lawyer who’s employed by the most renowned law office in Groove City, California. She’s an authentic woman, well acquainted with her worth. She has raised the bar high for any man who desires to indulge in her time. Her independence, focus, and determination to be a successful black woman thrusts her into a class of her own. Success; however, comes with a hefty sacrifice that not many women have the discipline to walk out. Things get complicated when Bilaal Harris weasels his way into Beautii’s life in a beautifully wrapped package, mixed with a few flaws that made him human. He quickly wins Beautii’s heart with his charm, persuasion, and BDE that was strong enough to hypnotize, and relax the guards of the strongest woman. Will she find love in an unfamiliar place or will Bilaal be her downfall?
Blyss Valentino is a high class attorney who specializes in criminal law. He’s highly respected in his community, well versed in his profession, and his street cred and professional influence proceeds him worldwide. He’s a bachelor with a selective, but massive appetite for professional women. He has no intentions of settling down until love creeps in and blindsides him.
Beautii and Blyss have maintained a well-rounded and functional work relationship for the last two years, and have never crossed the line, until a quiet storm is seen on the horizon. “It never rains in Groove City, California.” That’s what everyone thought. That was a fact until the tide changed. For the last two years, there hadn’t been anything but sunny skies and easy winds. What will Beautii and Blyss do when faced with the decision of risking their lives to make it home, or staying in the office until the storm passes over? Will the duo maintain their professional relationship, or will they delve into an oasis of love they never knew existed in each other's arms? One thing is certain, success always comes with a price. Who’s gonna pay?
Beautii Hamilton is a beast in the courtroom and her drive and determination to be a lawyer is motivated by the wrongful conviction of her father. She wants nothing more than to prove his innocence and what better way to do so than by doing this herself. After years of school, studying and sleepless nights, she not only passes the BAR but gets the highest score in her class! Every law office is trying to snatch her up but it was a no brainer to agree to work with Blyss Valentino. He’s undefeated and if there was ever a ruthless beast of an attorney to learn from it would be Blyss!
Blyss is not a lawyer that was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. When you think of the saying “got it out the mud” it’s synonymous with Blyss. He knew he wanted to make a difference in the black community and representation in and out of the courtroom mattered to him. Since his parents didn’t have the means to send him off to college he used the streets to pay his way through school! The same way he was a beast with dope is the same beast he brings to the courthouse and as an undefeated lawyer, there’s no wonder why Beautii wanted to be on this winning team!
This story was really good and had so many highs for me! The chemistry between Blyss and Beautii was 🔥! Once they crossed the professional lines and decided to kick their personal relationship into high gear things escalated in the best way possible. I loved how protective Blyss was with Beautii when it came to Bilaal. If delusional was a person, it would be Bilaal! Blyss was not fkn around with him!
I’m excited to see what’s next for this couple and how things play out now that all threats have seemingly been eliminated. Who knows what book two has in store but I’m eager to find out!
This book was good. I don't know why it ended ethe way it did. That was really weird, but i love the energy that is on the pages. Bilaal was nuts and so is Willow at this point. Blyss and Beautii are meant for each other. Mom and dad never showed back up after the cookout lol. What do they have going on? I guess I will have to wait and see.
It started so well for me and then the level of pick me-ism gave me the ick I’ll be honest. There was no pressure from anywhere and they really deserve each other. Also the celibate woman getting over her foolish ex and the man who’s forming sexual and not emotional connections with women is so tiring. I’m not like other girls una
Man, I feel like I was set up. Unfortunately, this book is so boring that I will not make the mistake and read the next one in this series. The experience fell way short. I’m trying to see what others thought was so good about this book.
Beautii is her name! Blyss is his name! Fitting names for a blossoming professional couple! I loved how the author took a professional man and woman and coupled them together through work. He’s a well sort after ………, she’s a new comer who’s mastering her skills already! Put the 2 together and they make a helleva team! I loved seeing both of them and their element. How they work really well. It wouldn’t be the perfect story without a little bit of drama. See what happens when Beautii’s ex Bilaal tries to win her back. I also love the friendship Beautii and her best friend have! They went into the same career but instead of competing against each other, they hyped each other, was happy for each other, encouraged each other. Truly a beautiful thing! A must read!!!
This was my first book by this author and she definitely did not disappoint! It was sexy and well put together! I love the way Beautii went back to school to fight for her father’s freedom. The way the book didn’t stay focused on Beautii’s father but got that out of the way early on was perfect. The way Blyss came through for him by setting him up financially, making him look good in court, and not taking over the case but assisting Beautii when needed was admirable. Blyss was a MAN through and through! He loved Beautii down! I can’t lie, I felt bad for Sedora a little. Even though they had a contract in place, her feelings were valid. She fell for him and he shut her down and was a little harsh when he said what he said to her in front of Beautii. I guess it had to be done tho or she may not have left him alone. Maybe she’ll pop back up in book 2! Bilal!!!! He was a dirty piece of work and had to go!!!! Honestly tho, it seems like Beautii had a soft spot for him and was really patient in how she moved on yet still talked to him in the way that she did. I think the ending was a major factor of how book 2 is gonna go and I don’t think she will be too happy with Blyss. She’ll probably investigate 😫
1st men always think the grass is greener on the other side and they want to have a sucka attack when they can’t get that girl back and and try to kill the other man that’s trying to treat her like he should’ve treated her make that make sense A true love story I’m so happy she got to get her dad out of jail Willow weak asffffff Overall great story Lovedit now my nerves bad I need moreeeeeee
Whewww this book was everything. Blyss did NOT play about Beautii. That sex scene if the office made me throw my tablet down and make a phone call 🤣🤸🏾♂️🗣️.
You never have to poke and press about where you fit into a man’s life. A real man will always make it very clear. The way he protected her……. Every woman need that in her life.
Baby, The way here shutdown the BS with Sandora in front of Beautii was too teir. This is a must read .
Beautii finally found the love that she deserved. Blyss was all that. He loved her with his whole heart and was all in from the beginning!! This is a new author for me but she now has a new fan. Can't wait for book 2!!!
This story had such a unique rhythm to it—smooth, emotional, and rich with feeling. The setting pulled me in right away, and the characters felt layered and alive. There was a quiet intensity in the way the relationships developed, and I appreciated how nothing felt rushed or forced.
Aja Cornish has a way of writing love that feels grown, grounded, and deeply real. The city vibe added so much flavor to the story, and I could picture every scene like a movie in my head.
It’s the kind of book that lingers after you finish it. I’ll definitely be looking out for more from this series.
It was a good read. I loved Blyss but at times I wanted to slap Beautii and probably will want to do more of it in the second book. I’m not even sure why this needed a second book and it’s not Beautii responsible to take care of Bilaal kids. Willow need to get a job or on welfare
I found this book to be an enjoyable read! Blyss stood on business OKAY, and I appreciated how Beauti was depicted as a successful Black woman. I'm looking forward to diving into the second book!
This book I couldn't put down my sis has done it again and will forever come clutch with these fire books please read i promise u won't be disappointed. Blyss is book bae status now.lol
I don’t even know where to begin with this review. I honestly just really couldn’t get into it and it felt like that from the beginning. The writer jumping around whether it was two weeks or two days or two years or whatever it felt like it made the timeline longer, and it made the story really hard to follow. Another question that I had was around her relationship with her mom. Beautii was described as not having anyone for a really long time during the book so when her father got released from prison and her mom is now here and they’re doing things together and she’s going over to the house. It made me wonder why none of these things were done in the earlier part of the book when her father was imprisoned. Is her relationship with her mom contingent on her father physically being around? Blyss was cool but he didn’t really do it for me. Also, why was everyone that they dated bat shit crazy??? There were also a lot of Christian undertones.
Overall I just really couldn’t connect with this book. I probably should’ve DNFed it but I’m a glutton for punishment.
Can I have a man who adores me like this? Where is my love? Also, ummm where is the rest of the story? Don’t get me wrong this story was great, but I have questions!!! Y’all just read the damn book!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a good read, though there were times I was mad at the MMC and also the ML but nevertheless, I give this book 4.0 star ⭐️read!!!
This was good. I enjoyed Blyss & Beautii’s journey. So glad she found a man who deserved her and could match her energy. Bilaal was a hot mess and I’m glad he is where he is. Willow? Guh please. We ain’t even tryna hear it. She could’ve stayed away and let the two love birds end their story🩷
