I’m excited to recommend this useful book - and not just because some illiterate twerp who can’t spell his own state’s name had a hissy fit about “DEI” and swore they’d never carry his book.
That’s ok - other libraries will!
I’ve loved seeing the progression for Kody - from sharing his experience on social media, to actively advocating for those with mental health struggles and mental illness hurdles, to being a public speaker, and now this book. He gives some great perspective on advocating for yourself and working with HR teams to find reasonable accommodation, as well as perspective for companies in retaining their employees. The cost of turnover is high - it’s not just in filling the position, but the time and money spent in getting new hires trained and up to speed. Such a good point…
I listened in audio. Narration was pretty good - I do wish he’d done the narration!
Library friends - we have it on Hoopla in text and audio.
Kody Green provides guidance not only for individuals living with mental illness looking for work, but also human resource teams and employers looking to be able to better manage mental health and bias in the workplace. It's one step forward to ending the stigma of having a SMI.
