Insecurity blocks our ability to discover true value. I believe that second to sin, insecurity is life’s greatest blocker of God-given potential. The truth is that, to some degree, we are all slaves of its controlling power. In this book I share my journey - and how I learned to identify insecurity and disarm it’s hold. This is a very quick read, even if you do take it very slowly like I did. This book was recommended by my Pastor to our entire Servant/Leader Team and I am so glad that I decided to read it. Paul De Jong is clearly led by the Holy Spirit as he uses personal experiences in his own life and in the lives of those he pastors to help the reader understand their own debilitating and often paralyzingly insecurity. While I cannot say that I no longer operate out of insecurity, I can say that I truly feel that it has been the "beam" in my eye that has kept me from being as useful to God as I'd like to be. The author even says in the end that we cannot expect to live life with no insecurity at all. We are, after all, not complete until we meet Jesus face to face. But we can learn to be honest with ourselves and with God when insecurity is in the driver seat of our emotions and our actions. Reading this book, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, will help you to see the areas in your life where insecurity is causing problems. It may also help you to see it in other people so you can better help and pray for them. I'd say it's a must read for any Christian who wants to be effective for the Kingdom of God.
This book handles with finesse, the core of the #1 factor crippling people & limiting our potential for greatness. We all have insecurities, but if you're willing to confront it head-on, break its limiting power, and step into the plans God has for you, I'd recommend you grab this book.
