When I wasn’t coaching tennis or looking after my two children, I’d be scratching away at my latest novel.

I won a copy of “When The Dove Cried” by Fiona Cane through the Goodreads Giveaway Contest. The title of the book is very intriguing.
This is a psychological thriller, the story revolves around the central character, Lily, who discovers her perfect marriage is a sham. Lily Green is happily married to university heartthrob, Adam Hutchinson. For the past two years they've been trying for a baby…but no luck.
The story opens with Lily's thirtieth birthday and her husband, Adam, has thrown her a surprise party. The guests are their four closest friends from university. On the surface they appear a happy and content bunch, but at midnight the police arrive and break up the party. A nurse has been murdered while jogging by the river and Adam is the last person to see her alive. Was Adam just a witness, as he had seen her while out for a jog…or was he responsible for her death? As the story continues, and the investigation begins, we start to see a breakdown of the group.
And Adam had changed too. He becomes more distant and then just disappears before the police can interview him. But why would he just disappear? What was he hiding? Lily starts receiving anonymous calls, and her search for the truth takes her deep into her husband's past. The old friends who comfort her are not what they seem. All of them are keeping secrets.
“Everything she believed to be good and true had been a fake. Adam hadn’t caught her as she fell. How could he when he was the reason she’d fallen in the first place? He’d enticed her to the cliff edge of her sanity and pushed her over. And here she was, lying at the bottom helpless, broken and alone. Her dreams turned living nightmare.”

This is a fast-paced read with characters that are well flushed out. We either like them or despise them. I kept reading to see who” dunnit”.
I really enjoyed this novel, as it highlights the importance of trust in any relationship, be it marriage, or friendship. When this one element is destroyed or questioned, your world is turned upside down, and will never be the same. There is no turning back!

Good book
Really enjoyed this book, it is my second read of this author, loved A song unsung so decided to try more. I found that this one did not disappoint. I have two more downloaded and can’t wait to start on one.
