On holiday in the Isle of Wight for the first time we enjoyed the wander down Shanklin Chine. But it was a plaque that stunned me. I thought I knew a fair bit of WWII history but a pipeline, laid in the Channel to France DURING WARTIME??? Yet it's true! This wonderfully precise, short book gives all sources for information, lots of images and maps and also technical detail. My engineering knowledge is next to zero but this was still brilliantly readable nonetheless.
