Rate this book
Richard Hannay Returns.JULY, 1942.

Once again veteran adventurer Richard Hannay is called into action on a mission that will test him as never before. At stake is the fate of the beleaguered island of Malta where Hannay's son is stationed as a fighter pilot. The German master spy Ravenstein has stumbled upon a centuries old secret which will give the Nazis the key to conquering Malta and so take control of the entire Mediterranean.

To stop them, Hannay and his allies the Gorbals Diehards must track down the mysterious Karrie Adriatis, who alone knows the nature of the ancient secret. The quest takes them on a perilous journey from Gibraltar, to Casablanca, to the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, and finally on to Malta itself. Here Hannay and Ravenstein come face to face in a battle that will determine the future of the war.

Fanns tydligen två författare som hette Robert Harris. Varken kvinnan i bokhandeln eller jag visste det. Denna Robert Harris var inte den rätta Robert Harris. Usel bok.

Thus was a great book - reallly enjoyed it. I haven’t read any real Richard Hannay books for a long time so it was fun to read this one and revel in the fast paced action and characters I remember well. Even though not read a bit like a who’s who of all the Hannay characters, it was good to see them all there. The story covers mountain treks and nasty villains in the Second World War as they fight to save Malta from a sticky end. Great fun and enjoyable.

Richard Hannay Returns, the cover says and he does along new and old friends, including his wife Mary (in a cameo appearance).

The time 1942 and the island of Malta is under attack by those mean bad guys led by Hitler and his chief spy named Ravenstein. Things are looking grim but of course the British have General Sir Richard Hannay so things should be fine. Of course there is a hook with named Redfalcon, a mystery that brings handy and his crew to Casablanca, to the mountains of Morocco and back again to the Malta for the final fight with the mystical Redfalcon to save the world from Hitler.

This is the third story in the return of Richard Hannay series. the author did a ton of research on the defenses of Malta and the Mediterranean area. I do hope there will more of these adventures coming soon.

A vert satisfying read!

This is the third and perhaps final Richard Hannay Returns story and it zips along with much excitement and delivers a strong ending. It is clearly very well researched and it was interesting to learn about Gibraltar and Morocco during WW2 and the situation in besieged Malta.

It is a little longer than the other two (excellent) books which gives the characters a chance for a longer journey through various locations. The ending felt a little rushed but was very clever and rounded things off nicely.

This is historical adventure writing at the top level.
