Serenity

Alien invasion? Check.

Hot aliens want Earth women? Check.

Traitor to my planet? Whoops.

Things have gotten completely out of control. One minute I’m a normal college student working towards completing a major in dance, the next I’m a traitor to my planet, working for an bonafide Empress who is planning a full scale takeover of Earth. The guy she assigned to guard me?

He is smoking hot.

And so gentle.

I didn’t expect to suddenly be working with an alien species whose entire language was song and dance, but it's time to roll with the punches and make a name for myself in outer space. Because hey, if the whole planet is going to hate me, I might as well show them what I’m really made out of.

This traitor is ready to dance her heart out.

Rikarr

She needs me.

I’ve spent my entire life content, working as one of the elite special forces serving the Emperor. I’ve been content. Until the moment I met her, utterly fragile, desperately needing to have someone take care of her.

That’s exactly what I’m going to do.

I won’t let anyone hurt her ever again.

This full length slow burn novel is for mature readers who enjoy characters who are wallflowers. There is romance, adventure, and coming out of her shell moments.

I'm just a lady with a foul mouth who really likes writing titillating stories about characters who go through experiences we don't have here on earth.

I like tea.

Serenity and Rikarr’s Story . . .

One thing you will notice about this author is that her books are not stereotypes! Her unique style somehow will capture your imagination and make you a solid fan. This story line opens with a human character named Serenity who is confused about where she is and what has happened to her. Her body shows signs of abuse but she doesn’t know what she has endured and is certain she has been drugged. She meets one of the Emperor’s Elite guards, Rikarr, and the rest of the story develops around their unique friendship and developing trust as she brings out his compassionate and protective nature. Grab your copy and allow the author to take you into the world she creates in your imagination. Her books are amazing and well worth reading.

Gleeful Goblin Review: I absolutely adore this author and this series so my loving this book wasn't a shocker for me. One of the reasons I love this author is that you get to opt-in and be aware of tropes and content, which for me at least, makes it more likely I'll read and enjoy something because I'm prepared! "This book starts with a fairly detailed experience with the aftermath of the main character being drugged. She wakes up the next morning and step by step realizes what happened. There is no detail about the previous night's violence. There are no flashbacks. If you want to skip reading the internal processing of the character as they go through this dark shít, which will also skip what I believe is a well deserved revenge moment, go to the end of the book for the section SUMMARY OF CHAPTERS 1-7. It is an upbeat, hopefully less intense summary of those chapters. You can then jump to Chapter 8 to continue the book. You are loved."

So with that caveat being set I dove into the book and the first chapter had me HOOKED because the author absolutely lived up to the promise of implied darkness while also describing a character so well I felt like I KNEW THEM because I've met dudes like this character. “Bryan?” I asked, surprised. He was a friend of a friend who had come across as rather shy and self-deprecating. He was always putting himself down. I found it annoying. My perspective was that the world shít on you enough. You didn’t need to shít on yourself, too. If you found something about yourself you disliked, you needed to work on changing it. Constantly telling people that you suck as a person just warned them to stay away from you or gave them ammo to repeat about you behind your back. So when Bryan told me he was no good, I believed him. I believed people if they told me they were no good. He had ended up at a few house parties I’d gone to, and kept trying to talk to me. I didn’t know much about him, and since his attempts at conversation revolved around him either bemoaning how badly he treated women or bragging about things about himself I didn’t care about and didn’t ask about, I generally found a way to end those monologues quickly and move on to chat with other people. At first I’d been polite about it, but the more I saw him the more my ending the conversation turned into me just walking away." The description is amazing enough but the way that the author goes HARD for victim advocacy and consent made me so happy I almost couldn't stand it. As someone who has experienced SA in the way our FMC did as well as from people I thought were friends for instance, having that stress on consent and on the responsibility for violence being on the perpetrator was soothing.

Also, the author weaves in a darker, sarcastic humor style to the characters that is a key to why I love this series and their work. An example being this interaction between FMC and another human while they're on board a space ship and discussing mortal vengeance being delivered and why that character can get away with very final justice on behalf of FMC: “I’m about to kíll him,” she said. “I’m going to unalíve that motherfücker.” Bryan made a muffled groan in the background, but we both ignored him. I waited for her to elaborate. That was it? She was going to kíll him? Clearly this woman wasn’t big on giving context. She was the type of person who either poured out information like a raging river or kept it all shut up like a dam. “Are you sure you want to do that?” I asked. “Won’t you go to jail for that?” She grinned at me. “Hey guys.” She looked over her shoulder at the cat elves behind her. “If I kíll this male human in front of you - is that going to be a problem? Hey, Emperor - you going to imprison me for taking out this creep?” The soldiers made a strange melodic huffing sound. Wait, the matchy matchy guy was an Emperor? Why was she wearing an outfit that matched the Emperor of a bunch of inuyasha style space cat boys? Was she his pet? Oh my god, these aliens kept humans as pets. I glanced over at the friendly ginger one and wondered how they treated their pets. If they were treated anything like my friend Kylie’s house cat, people would pay for the chance to get adopted. The Emperor sang something back to her. “I have a translator chip, and they have a translator on their wristbands, so they can all understand you, by the way,” she explained. “As for what he said, the Emperor said I’m the law and I can do what I want.” So sometimes she did offer information straight up. I stopped trying to label her in my head. Putting her into a narrow type of box wasn’t going to serve me in this moment. Finding out why a human pet was allowed to do whatever she wanted was more important. “Why?” I asked. “Because I’m his baby momma and his díck tentacles all fated mated our relationship,” she grinned. “The díck chose me!” All thoughts of pethood went straight out the space window. I had no idea what to say to that." Absolutely amazing, 10/10 would hang out with and be jazzed about it. This book is full of brilliant characters, a well executed and coherent plotline, and enough steam to make you pass out. 5/5 Stars.

4.25 stars. Serenity, the female human dancer lead, awakens in a dirty location nothing like her own home. She is horrified to find that her body hurts in ways that it oughtn’t and she has no memory of how those injuries came to be inflicted upon her. Then feline humanoid aliens appear and she’s sure whatever she was drugged with is causing hallucinations until she finds herself in the presence of another human female who is determined to deal appropriately with the human male found in the location she was.

Rikarr, the male alien lead, is an orphan raised to be part of the Emperor’s elite guard. He has never had any desire to do anything else or even to engage in normal physical intimacies. He’s bemused to find himself intrigued by the human female he’s assigned to guard, though he knows it’s more than inappropriate, given the situation in which he found her.

Determined to execute his duty well, Rikarr finds himself more and more enthralled by Serenity. But Serenity is not only recovering from immediate trauma but carrying historical trauma, and wisely decides she needs a friend more than anything else…

This story is dual POV, well written, and a fast-paced, sci fi romance, with a great non-romance plot. I really enjoyed how the author has woven the romance and non-romance plots together. I enjoyed seeing Serenity’s character development and watching her claim agency. I adored Rikarr’s carefully provided support, his insistence on ensuring she could make her own choices and that her actual desires were being executed, not her acquiescing to others. I appreciated Rikarr’s pre-story relationship status and how that had been a natural choice for him. I enjoyed the relationship development. I applauded the secondary character support and engagement, and laughed at the cheekiness of some interactions. I’m really enjoying this series and looking forward to the next story!.

I was wondering how they were gonna deal with the Empress’s “benevolent takeover” plan in future books, since that’s obviously not the kind of thing that you can just drop in the epilogue and have a coherent story continue on after that point. It takes time, and a lot of moving parts. One of those parts ends up being our FMC for this novel. She’s a dancer who accidentally finds herself involved in this alien mess when the jerkbag grapist from the Empress’s past makes her his next victim on the same night that the Empress sends her alien homies for a pickup.

Not to be deterred by unexpected surprises such as aliens bringing an entire human for “evidence,” the Empress gives FMC the opportunity to be part of the “transition team”, first running the plan by her as a sanity check, then giving her the opportunity to create dance-based social media content that appeals to the aliens (a language is heavily motion-based) and humanizes the aliens in the eyes of the Earthlings. (“Humanize” isn’t the right word here, but “personalize” doesn’t mean what I want it to mean, lol. “Anthropomorphize”? Make humans see the aliens as people. You get it.)

The story is so satisfying in kind of a wish fulfillment way. FMC starts out the book as the victim of a violent crime, but she doesn’t have to undergo testimony and trial to see justice done. She has everything taken care of on her behalf and gets a cool job that is suited to her skill set. She confronts the grapist’s enablers and her narcissist mother. She gets a super understanding and no-pressure boyfriend and a HEA. What’s not to like?

Serenity (h) is rescued after a traumatic assault, feeling lost and alienated from her own life on Earth. She finds herself aboard an alien spaceship among the Norratar, a race with advanced technology and a complex social structure. As she navigates this new environment, she grapples with her trauma, insecurities, and a growing sense of self-worth, largely reflected through her interactions with Rikarr (H), an alien soldier, tasked with caring for her. Initially, Rikarr is all about duty, but as he spends more time with Serenity, his character unfolds, revealing depth, compassion, and a desire for something beyond his military life. He displays a respect for Serenity's boundaries and is willingness to learn about her and Earth culture - loved when he realized the significance of dance to her and was willing to help her with that too. The relationship between Serenity and Rikarr develops gradually, as she learns to trust and heal, while he discovers a desire for intimacy and companionship that goes beyond physical attraction. Serenity and Rikarr face challenges, misunderstandings, and societal norms of their respective cultures as their connection with one another deepens. Ultra-hot and steamy alien-human slow burn romance with plenty of action, feels, and adventure as Rikarr and Serenity come together. Loved Lorelei and Zale being in the story too.

Alien Dance is a standalone but picks up the storyline from the end of Alien Song with a new couple in the forefront. Empress Lorelei, and her plans for Earth are in the works but added to the mix is MFC Serenity who the reader met at the end of Alien Song, and who had suffered through an egregious act from the same human male as Lorelei, let’s just say revenge is sweet!
Now aboard the Norratar Empire’s flag ship Serenity, and one of the Emperor’s elite special force warriors Rikarr are smelling pretty good to each other so can a mating be far behind?
This was a good second book in the series and I loved cat elf Rikarr’s character, he was so sweet and respectful of Serenity, and her needs. Serenity understandably had to work through some issues to get her head back in the right place but Rikarr had her back, always.
Stressing over her missed dance rehearsals for an upcoming college final doesn’t help Serenity’s mindset either, nor the men in black who show up at her door wanting Intel on the aliens after she returns to Earth.
Well the action, intrigue, suspense, romance, and surprises keep the plot rolling along at a nice pace, and I really enjoyed the outcome of that dance final!
Excellent writing, and narrative made this another winner for me, and very eager for the next book!.

In the first seven chapters of the book, the main character (FMC) goes through some traumatic experiences, so the author included a trigger warning and a summary to help readers understand the story better.

The story revolves around a character named Serenity and the challenges she faces in her life. Sometimes her decisions may seem confusing, but they are her way of coping with the issues she is dealing with.

Throughout the story, Rikaar is a constant support for the FMC. He is patient and understanding, and he deserves recognition for how he helps the FMC through her struggles.

The conclusion of the book is a satisfying one. While the journey of our main characters may have started in a bleak setting, their life together begins on a promising and uplifting note.

Another book in fascinating universe!

🔸️A book has a refreshing concept conentrating around significancy of body language. ❤️
Both MMC and FMC work with their bodies. MMC is a stoic, loyal, alien bodyguard. He is assigned to protect FMC, a professional dancer dealing with some serious trauma.
🔸️ The romance is rather slow burn, with virgin MMC 🤩, tons of not so innoncent body explorations and playful tentacles.
🔸️The story is well written, has some action and adventure.
🔸️ Minus: the longer I read, my dislike to FMC grew stronger. I really couldn't get what is her agenda 🤷‍♀️

Overal, I enjoyed the story. It was a smooth reading.

'Instead of the wet wood that had been my existence, this was fire. This was light in the darkness, heat against the cold, sunshine bursting out from behind the clouds on a rainy day. This was the breath of life into a withered stem.
This was a gift.'

I've loved this series from the beginning and this book is no different. Great world building and wonderful characters. This book was a fun adventure and I loved the use of dance in this story. I loved the way the slow-burn relationship developed between Serenity and Rikarr. I liked her determination and how she came into her own. I loved the way Rikarr supported her. I also liked the supporting characters. I can't wait for more in this series! 5 stars.

Serenity is a dance who has had her fair share of trauma. When she wakes up in an unknown location with her body hurting and no idea how it happened she's at a complete loss. Rikarr was an orphan who dedicated his life to being the emperor's Elite guard. Never really having wants for himself. He has a job regarding serenity but he finds himself drawn to her. This is a slow build Slow Burn very well written. I love that the main male character is not an overbearing Alpha hole. And I love that it's dual POV.

I loved this story about how after a horrific ordeal Serenity makes the brave decision to move on with her life.
I thought that the author handled this very well. She gave the reader a choice, to either read those listed chapter of read a summary of what happened and then move on to the story once the trauma has passed. Even so, I thought that the detailed chapters were very thoughtfully written!
Rikarr is a sweetheart and is the perfect foil for Serenity. He is caring and supportive and is exactly what she needs to move on with her life.
This is a great story about moving on and the options available if you are brave enough to take the leap! 5 stars!

Alien Dance is a great continuation of the world the author has created. We briefly met Serenity as she was rescued from evil human Bryan at the end of the previous book. That being said, there is quite a bit of references to the fact she was in a potentially triggering situation. The author has thoughtfully provided a way to breeze past the worst of that if you need to.

Rikarr and Serenity were good characters. This book is shorter so there isn't quite as much character development. But even while these characters are coming together, in the background there is a continuation of overarching plot of Lorelai taking over the Earth. So a lot of fun to keep up with.

Serenity went through something horrible that she was still trying to avoid and not process. Throw in aliens on top of that and she just wants to go back to what she knows. That won't be easy with the government after her. Rikkar was very considerate of what happened to her and didn't want to scare her. It was great that he took his cues from her even though she didn't really know what she wanted herself. I liked that the author was considerate of anyone who would have had a hard tine reading the beginning of the book.

This was an engaging slow burn romance that started off in a place of trauma for Serenity (the author did a fab job giving readers the option of reading all the deets of her trauma, or just a quick summary to avoid any triggers). Rikarr, never really having needs for himself, was initially confused about how drawn to Serenity he was. I love how supportive and patient he was with her, which she needed as she worked through her past. With plenty of action, emotions and adventure, it was fun to watch things build between them. This is definitely a story of healing and love :D

This is book two in this authors series and just as enjoyable as the first. It was her book Zoo, that got me hooked and couldn't wait for more to enjoy. In this book, we get more of Serenity from the rescue in book one and of course, the alien, Rikarr.
There is still adventure and humour, as you still have the background plot from book one, to continue. So these two characters were fun to read and get to know.
I look forward to the next book and journey. :D

This was an enjoyable book that brings two people from different worlds together that finally get the happy ending that neither thought they wanted or desired and this is Serenity a human from Earth and Rikarrr a Norratar alien who found and now guards Serenity after her traumatic assault. Rikarr just wants to look after Serenity and wants her trust and for her to heal before they can together but in return he learns that his desires and intimacy with her but more a companionship.

I want one! Just reading about an alien hottie that wants to be your everything, brings out the warm fuzzies in me. Granted Serenity and Rikarr's story has it's ups and downs, but that's what makes it such a well rounded story with awesome characters and great world building. There's lots of action and adventure as well as danger and some hot and dteamy romance to knock your socks off, making it a rocking good read! Bravo!.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable series and Serenity and Rikarr's story is a fantastic addition.

Serenity struggles to acknowledge the instantaneous, strong connection between them due to her recent trauma and upbringing. Whilst Rikkar is all in and his patience and understanding make this story.

The cultural misunderstandings and differences add humour and depth.

Another superb book from this author and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

It was well written and fluid. I found that I couldn't put it down. It just kept getting better as I got deeper into the storyline. There was drama, action, suspense, hot-as-sin aliens, and a plot twist I wasn't expecting. I loved the vivid characters and their banter, arguments, and camaraderie. The main characters pulled me in with their history and reunion. I highly recommend this book to all.

Love the cat elves.
Meeting a human Empress on a spaceship was enough of a mind-blown experience for Serenity. Having her very own cat-elf as a bodyguard and assistant topped the charts. After the trauma she's experienced, Rikkar makes her feel safe. Rikkar, one of the Emperor's elite guards, finds Serenity enthralling with her lithe dancer moves. The chemistry is off the charts with these two. Can't wait for the next in the series.

Awesome

I really felt like this book handled a super tough start with the right balance of care. Serenity really had a tough go of it and her progression with dealing with the changes to her life really made me connect with her character. We see her struggle to find the path that is right for her and learn how to choose her own future. Rikarr was such a supportive MMC proving the perfect balance to allow for their future to grow.

To be honest I figured this story would have a lot more steamy scenes. That it would be an insta attraction earth woman with Alpha sexy alien and hot scenes. It ended up being very tame ( there were steamy scenes) but the story was actually really enjoyable.

Absolutely hooked from the first moment.

Want to know you've got a good author and a great start to a book?
When an author tells you you're loved within seconds of the book then shows you just how beautiful love can be while making you laugh and want to throw things (sharp pointy things) at the bad guys.
I'm hooked. I'll be tearing through the rest of the books now lol.

As part of a series but able to be read alone, this story is sweet in an oddly otherworldly way. Using dance as a form of communication as well as it's human meaning moved me while reading. The author has even defined and detailed an entire dance routine which is not easy. The entire story is a good read.
