When a mysterious illness interrupts the mundanity of Brian and Sara's lives, average people turn into savages and emergency services are rendered useless. After realizing that their only salvation lies in fleeing the home that they thought to be a safe place, they hit the road to find safety, and possibly other survivors. Only then do they meet their toughest challenges, as the roads they used to know, have turned into wastelands of ravenous people.
The story was interesting. The writing itself was serviceable -- I found a few errors that seemed to be typos, nothing that couldn't be tightened up with a second look from an editor. I will admit that, as I read YA almost exclusively, I'm not the right audience for this book. That said, in the hands of the right reader, I can see where someone would really enjoy it.
Very interesting story with twists and turns throughout the journey. Descriptive writing style brings the characters to life. Looking forward to see what's next from this new author.
