Done with sacrifices, Hal seeks greater monster powers and delves into the ancient magic of his world. With his wounds healing, his strength grows tremendously, opening up a new evolution of bonecrafting.
To reforge his eldritch body, Besal, Hal’s Beast, ventures into the depths of the Fathomway dungeons, chasing after the source of the land’s corruption.
The impending wrath of the Shiverglades’ tribes looms over Brightsong. Though they fight on distant battlefields, Hal and Besal must work together for a chance to save their settlement from fated destruction.
My name is James T. Callum and I’m not going to talk to you in the third person or make it seem like I’ve got some publisher or editor who has a bio on me.
I'm always available to talk, connect with readers, fellow authors, and lovable book nerds:
This is just me, talking to you, the reader. I’m no different than you, I love reading and gaming just the same as everybody else.
In fact, I’ve loved reading for as long as I could remember. From the very first fantasy book I read, The Wizard of Earthsea, I was hooked.
For just as long I’ve also been an avid gamer and DND player (as well as other tabletop RPGs). Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Illusion of Gaia, and on through the years as stories and graphics became better and better.
You’ll be able to find hints of inspiration from all sorts of RPGs and video games in my works. From the Final Fantasy series to Warcraft, Age of Empires to Anno, and games like Dark Souls and Bloodborne. Because who doesn’t love a little cosmic horror thrown in for fun?
These games (and countless others) have inspired me ever since I was a kid, and they continue to serve as my muse now that I’m much older.
Writing has always been my greatest aspiration and with your help, I hope to make it a full-time job. At the time of this writing, I still work a day job like most people. It is only thanks to Patreon that I was able to dedicate some of my spare time to writing.
So, if you’d like to provide direct support and help me achieve my goal of writing full-time (so I can write even more stories for you awesome people!) you can hop on over to my Patreon page where you’ll find tons of content.
Patrons get access to advanced chapters of upcoming books, special discord roles and discussion channels, early releases of books before anyone else, maps, cover reveals, voting, and a lot more.
And if you spot a typo or error, shoot me an email at: typos@jamestcallum.com, and I will get it fixed and re-uploaded ASAP. I aim to provide the best possible reading experience and as soon as I find an error I fix it. Once it’s fixed and updated, your reading device should update automatically with the improved version.
With the other books coming out set in the same multiverse each beastborne book is even more fun to read. I enjoyed the lore coming into focus over this book, as well as some of the cool explorations of magic that Hal has gained but not had the time in previous books to explore.
Ohhhh. Wow, man! James T Callum can always capitalize on the momentum of the book and make a totally unique and captivating ending! And of course all you want to do is dive right back into this mesmerizing storyline!!! With so much to do Hal and his stalwart friends, family really, and this is as close as it comes to an actual slice-of-life adventure. That is between dungeon diving and dealing with dragon magic, as well as dealing with a deadly Arch Mage! Ohhhh and yeah, did you get a look at the cover? Yeah it turned out that Besal survived! Yay! But how could that be? So yeah go grab the audiobook because, between JT Callum, and EM Summerer your in for soooooooo much excitement and you get answers to those pesky questions...
Here's a couple of quotes:
"With the amount of reputation you must have just gained, you could hold council on the toilet and still be one of the most respected person in the room."
“I’ve been working on a [Hot Potato] plant that has a small stem attached and when you pull the stem, the potato cooks itself.”
"Are you saying you got the idea to make a self-heating potato from some kid who… what, created a magical poo bomb?”
A lot happened, and yet, this is clearly in the middle of the series
Everything important that happened in this book, and pretty much everything unimportant as well won’t have any clear consequences for a while. This book wrapped up some open plot threads from traveling outside their worldshard, but the whole book took up so little time that the other clans still haven’t made it to Hal’s valley.
We hear a lot about one of the Kinslayers that attacked at the end of the last book, but what happened to the other one? Why is Besal where he is? And what are the motivations of his companions? Will Besal’s efforts allow Hal to help Aldim without dooming everything?
This one was really the end of one arc and/or the beginning of a new arc. Hal ties up a lot of issues that have been plaguing him for awhile, and just generally sets things up for the story to continue. There was some crafting advancements, some leveling, and just general movement forward to tidy things up. As such some people might complain about the comparative lack of action. But this was needed to get things rolling for the further books. Definitely enjoyed it, now sadly the wait for the next book.
So far the suspense built into these books and baked into the main and supporting characters is amazing. The ending was f each story doesn’t leave you hanging on a ledge so to speak. You get a soft landing, but with the explicit expectation that the next plot will ratchet up the heat for Hal, Brightsong, and the rest of Aldim. More of Mira’s secret gradually unraveling and one can’t help but wonder what role she’s played in other Worldshards. On to the next book for me. This is an Epic Tale.
If you have not read this series and are a fan of fantasy and leveling and gaining new abilities, please do read this series. Character progression and lots of plots and stories of each of the characters and it never fails to disappoint ever. I can't wait for the next book to come out!!!!
An incredible amount happens in this volume. It all links together so smoothly you almost miss how much. Dramatic and significant (understatement) character progression. In depth new character introduction. And even great, grand, not so glorious reveals. I mean, really, what's not to love? Maybe something to do with completing a journey and settling in?.
I wanted to like this one more. It tied up alot of loose ends from the previous books. But it just brought alot of characters back to zero if that makes sense. I also didn't care for Hal getting Dragon powers since Declan also was given Dragon powers in Sovereign Soul. I'm sure it's all coming to a head but it feels a little weighted down
With Hal coming into his own, it would be easy for the Author to have the protagonist become omicient and omnipotent, instead, the protagonist is fallable, makes mistakes and loses items of power. The other key charachters are fleshed out and grown into interesting and engaging stories.
I already can’t wait for the next book. This series is fantastic and keeps getting better. Love the main character finally being selfish in a good way to grow his power on purpose and not on accident in an emergency.
It took so long for this book to come out that it took me a minute to get back into the swing of things and remember some names, but once I did it was just as good if not better than previous ones.
This story of a guy getting summoned by a copy of himself to a world of magic was a very interesting entertaining read. This book leaves off as he’s getting ready to host the surrounding tribes of his new home.
Was a good book and not stressful. Learned some lore and cool info. This book def feels like a set up for the next but long series need these. Excited for the next
Umbrella it did take awhile to get but damn I say the author more then made up for it . I hope the author keeps up with the series because it's getting freaking good
Loved this series, so happy to read another book from it! Great continuation of a super cool world! Loved the magic in this book and world building! The characters are amazing and well developed! I love how Hal’s journey has changed into who is! I love the exploration and crafting focus of this book that really did a great job with the world! Can’t wait for book 6!
