Aunt Lavender is gearing up for the quest of a lifetime, while I’m settling into life in my newly renovated home and dreaming of long summer days spent on the lake.
However, with the appearance of two old rivals in Winterspell and a harrowing premonition, our dreams fall into jeopardy.
Selene has to prove herself right (naturally…), and before I know it, I’m chasing her furry behind smack dab into the middle of a cutthroat world of scheming adventure-seekers, who will do anything for their next big thrill.
Happy Release Day!!Selene is carrying this series! 🐈⬛ Glad to see her take a bigger role in this installment, but we’re entering comic book territory where I don’t fear for her in any scenario. She could fight Sauron, Thanos, & Darth Vader 3 on 1 and I’m pretty she’d win by roasting their outfits + tail whip combo. Growling Grimoire could solve this by introducing a multiverse but we’ll have to stay tuned! 🛸🔭
So honestly this is the first book in this series I dock a star at. The book itself is good! Templeton is finally gone. Selene issues an apology to everyone which is 100% deserved (even though her snarky sassy self is my favorite character). The swap was funny! However I docked because this crime solving seemed similar to the assistant in the beginning of the series who was faulted. Tabithas assistant took the Atlantis research but then where there's usually a "fight" scene or something super dramatic was bland. It was basically "yeah I did it here it is goodbye!" Just was hoping for more of a climax. However since becoming an adult -10 years ago- I have yet to find a favorite book series and this is it. I will continue to listen to any Danielle Garrett puts out that has my favorite familiar duo! Also I love the woman who reads the audiobooks.

I could read about Selene and Cora’s adventures every day and never tire of their antics. In this book we find Selene working on a spell to change the magic of the familiar bond while an old friend/nemesis comes into town stirring up trouble for Lavender. How Cora keeps her cool while keeping everyone else out of mischief is a question for the ages.
Just when I thought this series was running out of steam, we got Freaky Friday incident. Too bad it didn't last longer. Nothing much happened for some time, but I enjoy it as a little rest for my brain. Cozy and reliable.
🚫 Negatives: * I really dislike Cora. She's not that bright and a stick in the mud. Not to mention, she treats Selene pretty horribly rather then she is competely shocked when Selene acts out.
* The book starts off with a political debate. Politics are the very last thing I want to read about in an election year.
* There is constant arguing in the book. It starts off with Selene and Cora arguing, and it never stops.
* The plot wasn't well developed and felt rushed. The subplot barely existed, but only to further Selene and Cora's constant bickering.
* Fighting and politics never work in a cozy mystery. This story never felt cozy at all.
⚡Content Warning: None.
🌟 Overall, I really disliked this book. It felt stressful with all of the constant arguing. The politics didn't help much either. The tiny bit of actual plot in the story wasn't worth dealing with the rest of it.
It's weird since I absolutely loved the author's other series. This one was way out of left field and nowhere near the caliber of the author's usual work.
Thing is, I'm done with this series. Honestly, this book is putting me off from reading anything else by her.
Well, Selina is on a roll. Snarks galore, making life at home and work complicated for Cara. Can she ever get Selina to get along with her husband? A nemesis has returned back to town, supposedly for only a few days. This puts Selina on a tailspin of mistrust. When Lavander has a break in her home, her research papers on finding Atlantis are stolen. Cara is beside herself to juggle everything going on in her world. Will she be able to figure it all out? Ms. Danielle has woven a page turning journey, one you will never guess ahead of time. Personally, I loved this part of the series and yes, I got angry with Selina. You will have to read this to find out how my final opinion on Selina ends up!
Selene is in ultra snarky form when Tabitha Hardwick, rival to Aunt Lavender, comes back to Winterspell to hawk her latest book. Cora and Selene are working on loosing the familiar bond but that turns haywire. Can anything else go wrong? Of course it can. Aunt Lavender’s Atlantis adventure research goes missing while her former school friend turned enemy shows up. But family comes first as Selene, Cora, Aunt Lavender and familiar Checkers go on the hunt for the missing research. There’s tons of action and arguments (Selene, naturally) in this latest adventure gone awry. Will Winterspell survive? We all hope so.
Cora and Clint are married at last, and Cora’s feline familiar, talking Selene lives with them. But chatterbox Seline wants more, so when a spell goes sideways, it’s a freaky Friday and they have a body switch!
And then Selene runs off with Cora’s body! Just, noooooooo. And aunt Lavenders magical notes and research is stolen but no one’s admits to being the thief - the crazy is baccccck!
So, hunting down the thief, old frenemies are suspect since they are visiting and totally their kind of move 🙄, and Selene better hand over Cora’s body….CRAZZZZZZY and an absolutely worthwhile read
When Tabatha Hardwick comes back for a book signing all Seline can think of is bad juju. When someone that previously had been one of Lavender’s enemies, also shows up being friends with lavender, it doesn’t look good. With the sheriff race going on and lots of people in town because of the book signing time is full. When everything goes haywire because of this that the other, and everybody catch their breath and figure out what’s going on? We’ll see. 😌
4.75 out of 5 Stars Read in Audio: This book made me wish Cora's enchantment candles were real and wish there were ones to be used to make a shower just as soothing.
The mystery wasn't as big of a plot point in this as the twist within the book, but more Cora and Selene trying to alter the familiar bond and the antics that came with that aka .
When we did get to mystery the who dun it was a plot twist and I can't wait to see how the town changes effect the next books.
Paw-ful Premonition is Book 11 in the Nine Lives Magic series by Danielle Garrett. I really enjoyed this story. I have been a fan of this series since book 1.
Selene is really full of snark in this one! Nemesis Tabitha is back in town. Cora is busy trying to loosen her bond with Selene and its not working so well.
There is a lot of action in Winterspell in this story.
I love all the characters, the story and the mystery.
Selene is back and snarkier than ever. When Aunt Lavender's Lost City of Atlantis research goes missing, poor Lavender is beside herself and it's up to Cora and Selene, the kitty of sass, to figure out who took it. Could it be her rival of adventure, Tabitha, who is in town for a book tour? Or could it be Charlene, her arch nemesis from her past who is trying to make amends? A great read with humor, snark, sass, and potions gone wrong. Loved it!!
It wasn't until I'd bought and started reading the book I remembered that I swore never again, Seline is painful. Of course I really enjoyed the story but I have to say, I really dislike Selne, I want to do serious damage to her. I suppose I'm really not a cat person. I will stick to Holly, Adam, Scarlet and Flapjack in future. I absolutely love those stories. unreservedly.
There is so much I want to say about this book, but I’m afraid to let a spoiler out! Selene really holds nothing back. Poor Cora goes through so much with her. Just wait until you read what Selene did. It was crazy! Lavender has a hard time after a theft. Good thing Cora and Selene are on the case. There were a lot of red herrings thrown in, but I feel pretty proud that I figured it out. Normally I’m not that good! Loved the book!
Selene is back! Aunt Lavender's Atlantis research is stolen and Cora tries to help find it. Selene has a premonition that Tabitha is the culprit but she swears shes innocent. Lavender has an old rival in town for Tabitha's book signing and some clues point to her. Admist some body swapping and a vote on a new town sheriff, Cora and Selene try to find the thief. Definitely a fun story with lots of Selene quips!
WELL, it seems that Aunt Lavender cannot stay home, she has a big trip planned and Selene is doing everything she can do to stop her. Cora and Clint are settling in and getting their home remodeled was stopped after the kitchen was complete but will continue later. So, Selene is up to her sleuthing again and Cora is having to catch her and in the middle of the mystery. Can Cora and Selene get out of this in the end. Let's hope.
I think the author has run out of plot ideas as this was all over the place! It was entertaining but crazy weird too. I love this author but this was not up to her usual high standards.

This was a fun addition to the series! It was nice seeing Tabitha again, it’s always nice when old characters are brought back - it makes the books seem more “real.” As always, Selene is hilarious! I enjoyed seeing more of Aunt Lavender and Lilac in this book. Looking forward to the next installment!
Selene, Selene, Selene. What trouble can this cat cause now? She’s working on a spell so she and Cora are not so tied together – wonder if that will end well? Aunt Lavender’s ex-college friend is in town and that doesn’t sound like good news. And Selene has fired Lucy. Will Cora ever work herself out of all these problems? Another great book in this series.
Best Selene yet! I really love the Nine Lives Magic series. Excellent story line with brilliant sub-stories mixed in. I will never tire of reading about Selene. She is one of the few characters I read about that just makes me chuckle and warms my heart. Thank you and I’m glad to see there is more to come!!
I really enjoyed reading the eleventh book in this series. I liked how Cora, her familiar, Selene; her mom, Lilac helped to solve the mystery of missing research papers her aunt, Lavender needed for her search to find the lost city of Atlantis. I would recommend this book anyone who likes to read cozy magical mysteries.
Cora and Selene are at it again! This time it’s for Aunt Lavender’s sake. They are after a thief and Selene is in rare form…Cora’s form. If people thought Selene was terrifying in cat size, they get a new view when she and Cora have a Freaky Friday moment.
Take a bit of time and get into the craziness of their lives. It’s well worth it.
Another light-hearted, fun, furry ride. If you have made it this far into this series, you know what these books are about. This one was no different than the others in the series. It was fun and full of hijinks with everyone's favorite "fur-ball" (if you have read this book, you might smile at this reference). It is a fun, light-hearted, enjoyable listen.
All the way through these 11 books, I wished I could give Cora a boot in the butt, and dump that miserable, trouble making cat out the door for good. The stories are great, and imagine my surprise when the cat actually acted human. About time Selene!
Depend really out does her snarky behavior which at one point as a reader strangling her was my emotional response . it was a good mystery and new friends were made with someone getting into a new romance.
A great storyline and nice characters. Entertaining and very interesting. Selene always makes me laugh with all her crazy antics, but she's always on point. Can't wait to see what she gets into next.
This is a great read. A mystery with lots of suspects and some mixed up magic. Cora and Selene both have some growing up to do, but despite their growing antagonism manage to solve the case.
