When sparks fly faster than espresso shots, will Sage weather the storm of her feelings for Elliot, or will she need a latte of courage to stir things up?

Every day, Sage wanders into the Coffee Loft armed with romance books and orders her favourite perk me up. But it’s not the caffeine that sets her heart racing—it’s Elliot, the barista she’s harboured a crush on for months. He’s as sweet as a maple twist macchiato and as heavenly as the pastry to go with it. He’s also laid back, the total opposite to her take-charge attitude.

When a fierce storm strands them together, her carefully constructed facade unravels faster than a poorly bound paperback. Deathly terrified of thunder and lightning, Sage needs to do the unthinkable—ask Elliot for help and allow herself to take refuge in his warmth and kindness.

Between coffee beans and candlelight, further cracks in Sage’s armour appear. As the night deepens and their budding romance blooms, so does her apprehension about where this will lead, since love always ends in heartache.

Surviving the night together is one thing, but these new developing emotions? They scare her as much as the raging storm.

Sage. Book and coffee lover. Jaded from love after witnessing her mom die from total heartbreak after her husband cheated on her.
Sage is not ready to fall in love herself anytime soon.

Elliott is the barista she crushes on and enjoys watching him work.. in a non creepy way. lol.
When a serious storm hit and breaks a tree right in front of the Coffee Loft Coffee Shop, locking them both in without electricity or cell service, they both learn a lot about eachother. Sage is deathly afraid of storms and Elliott hates the dark. Both end up helping eachother through these fears while being stuck.

This one was super cute. I think it’s one of my favorites so far in the Coffee Loft series!

It's a Brewtiful Day is part of The Coffee Loft: Fall Collection. This is a multi-author series with each book featuring a Coffee Loft shop but can all be enjoyed as standalones or in any order.

This was such a sweet addition to The Coffee Loft series! Sage may love reading romance, but in real life, she's had bad luck with men in her past. So, while she harbors a crush on the cute barista (Elliot) at her favorite Coffee Loft store, she doesn't think anything will come of it... until the two are stuck together during a horrible store and she finds herself letting her guard down. As someone who has a very intense phobia of storms just like Sage, I could 100% relate to the anxiety she was dealing with throughout the story. More than that though, it made me love how Elliot stepped in to take care of her in that fear without judgement. He was such a sweetheart, and I couldn't help but love him for her. They had such a sweet chemistry between them that I adored--- though both were certainly far from perfect! The story might have taken place primarily in just one night--- but what an eventful night it was bringing these two together as it did. Throw in some meddling family and wonderful coffee puns and there was so much to enjoy about this sweet romance.

It's a Brewtiful Day is a closed-door romance with kisses only and one minor swear.

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

“The men in romance books were usually amazing; beautiful yet perfectly flawed. Not like flawed-flawed and evil. I’d dealt with enough of those in real life to know I never needed to be with that type again.”

I adore the fact that Sage works in a bookstore in Jasper, Alberta, Canada and also goes around stocking little free libraries and makes art out of old, worn out books. My family had the opportunity to visit that area in summer of 2023 and it was devastated by wildfires just a year later. I could visualize the setting and loved every moment of Sage and Elliot’s story.

Elliot is a barista in the local Coffee Loft store and I found myself delighted by the planned meetings and adoration. When this couple gets trapped by a fierce storm, the swoon factor was off the charts and I was rooting hard for them.

From start to finish, I was completely enchanted by this author’s writing style and everything found within the pages.

Content: mild moment of peril; mild romance

It’s a Brewtiful Day is a heartwarming addition to The Coffee Loft: Fall Collection, a multi-author series centered around cozy coffee shops and standalone love stories. Sage, a book and coffee lover from Jasper, Alberta, has sworn off romance after witnessing her mother’s heartbreak. But when she finds herself trapped during a fierce storm with Elliot, the barista she secretly admires, her guard begins to fall.

This sweet romance unfolds over one eventful night, with Sage and Elliot supporting each other through their fears—hers of storms, and his of the dark. Their chemistry is undeniable, and Elliot’s tender care and kindness made me root for them every step of the way. Sage’s unique hobbies, like stocking little free libraries and creating art from old books, added so much charm to her character, while Elliot’s quiet strength and thoughtfulness made him the perfect match.

Set against the backdrop of a small-town coffee shop during a storm, this closed-door romance brims with swoon-worthy moments, meddling family, and delightful coffee puns. As a fellow Canadian, I especially loved the nods to Jasper, Alberta, and felt transported to its beautiful scenery despite the challenges it has faced recently. With its enchanting writing and heartfelt story, It’s a Brewtiful Day is the perfect cozy romance for fall.

The book had a solid start, middle and end.

I liked the writing and the characters, until the events after the storm (I'll get to it in a bit). The way the characters were defined with their baggage and their fears was really great and I think this book has one of the best descriptions of the storm. The characters are not trapped in a mansion or someone's house with all the amenities, they are afraid, don't have enough food, beds or power.

I have been reading a lot of books with storms lately, and frankly it was becoming overbearing but I still liked it in this book.

The only thing that bothered me was the way the FMC behaved just after the storm- I know it was a defence mechanism and her fears, but I felt it was pushed a little too far. Those 20-30 pages were a little difficult for me to read and I kind of gave up hope for them to come together. BUT BUT BUT, despite that the end made up for it. I really liked how the author introduced communicating their feelings in the book and I would suggest everyone giving this book a chance.

I received an advance copy of the book and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

H.M.Shander , this book of yours? Pure class.I feel like my heart is made of glass. Such emotive feeling you’re stealing from me. And it’s only chapter three …, then comes chapter four and I can’t take anymore . I’m sold it’s a dream of a read and we’re not done yet! Sage enters stage right , which ekes out such delight from the barista at the Coffee Loft ,Elliot says see you tomorrow , you’re drink will be served and ready, that Brewtiful smile, so beguiling and handsome , not just for you , she tells herself while feeling like one of the heroines on her bookshelves. Dreams like he’s one of her book boyfriends from the books she delivers from Pages & Dreams , she’s having one of those it seems… Their sisters try to get them together through an astronomy Festival . But it’s for nought when there’s a storm brewing ( no pun intended). “ How was your coffee?” “ Perfect, thank you.” “ And the donut?” “Filling. I’m going to have to do loops around the town to burn it off.” Can we dare to believe , this is happening inside our favourite Coffee Loft? Swoon! She knows it’s a bit naff but it’s what she does , her book craft gives her a buzz. All the unsalvageable books she finds , she makes cute crafty things out of them all different kinds. They have their own free lend library of the ones that are clean and not marred. she makes Elliot a book tree , which takes pride of place atop the Espresso machine pride of place its starred. The storm looks ominous but first to the Coffee Loft with books , her friend leaves her to lock up the shop.. “I’m going to go home and rest. Lock up, will you?” …“Of course, and we already talked. I’m slowly working on what books would best fit the coffee shop“ “Add in the coupons too. It’ll be good for business.” “For sure.” Sage and Elliot are getting along real fine under their own steam , no need for sisters to intervene. One night Sage locks herself out of Pages& Dreams , she needs to wait it out but is afraid of the storm . Elliot sees how she is and goes into full protective hero mode. Way to go! So brewtifully written scenes are these . He really does a grande job of taking her mind off the situation and appeases amid the raging storm and horrific sounds he drowns it all out and holds her tight and doesn’t let go , until he knows she’s safe and afraid no more. What a guy. Rooting for these two all the way through, it’s an excellently prepped, primed, and timed , a book that has everything you will ever need . To come out smiling and full of joy after your read? It’s an excellently portrayed story about a girl and a boy. Sublime and full of emotion, love and joy. Ms Shander. Oh boy! Bravo! Way to go! I’m overcome and that’s handsome!!!!!

This is a book in The Coffee Loft : Fall Collection series and it is Sage and Elliot’s story and it is definitely a must read. Sage is totally addicted to books and not only does she read them, recycle old and worn books but she also work at Page and Dreams bookstore, Sage has a crush on Elliot who is a barrister at The Coffee Loft so she goes in every morning to get her fix and also with the hope of seeing him which is the height of her day. Sage is terrified of lightning storms because of what happened in her past so when she was taking a box of books to the Coffee Loft a big storm started and it was Elliot that was there for her and kept her calm throughout the whole ordeal which lasted through the night and they ended up sharing stories while connecting but because of Sage’s past family life she couldn’t seem to realise that the night that she spent with Elliot was something special so she always walked away before someone could leave her so when they were rescued the following morning that was what she did not realising that she was making a big mistake. Elliot was shocked when Sage just walked away without looking back because he thought that they had built something special between them especially as they seem to connect and now Elliot realised that Sage not only had trust issues but also he would need to get her to communicate with him if they were ever going to have a chance of being together and having the future that he always wanted with her. Sage and Elliot were so perfect together and for each other and even though they both had so much baggage, trust issues, hang ups, emotional, putting road blocks in place but eventually they both worked together in there own special way to communicate and work everything out. Sage and Elliot had many ups and downs in their relationship and it was not plain sailing but when you find that kind of love everything and anything is possible. There are some funny moments and also emotional situations in this book that makes you feel everything that they have both gone through as if you are there living through it with them and the story was so enjoyable and engaging that I read it in one sitting because I was unable to put it down. I have read many books in this series and I have enjoyed every single one and look forward to reading more of them in the future.

OVERALL STAR RATING: 5/5
CLEAN RATING: 5/5

Elliot the coffee shop barista and Lane the quaint little bookshop employee – trapped together without power during a severe thunderstorm. Need I say more? The absolute perfect setup to a sweet Fall RomCom.

I loved how the author so quickly allowed us to fall in love with both characters. It didn’t take long at all to see what an incredibly soft and sweet spirit Elliot has. He is so intuitive and caring. Lane is sweet, but she holds a fair amount of bitterness in her heart towards men. She didn’t exactly have a prime example growing up. “Proceed with caution” is the name of the game and her tainted upbringing prevents her from being able to commit for any significant amount of time when it comes to relationships.

Lane can’t deny the feelings that have been “brewing” for Elliot, however. When they literally find themselves trapped in her coffee shop during the storm, she lets her walls down. I just loved the deep heart-to-heart conversations the two of them had.

I have to say I was really impressed with the way this book wrapped up. I don’t want to give too much away, but it was incredibly mature and respectful the way these two handled each other’s very valid emotions. Great anxiety rep in this story as well.

Constant mention of books and coffee makes this such a cozy read. A fair share of moments that will make you laugh and giggle as well.

How would you feel getting locked inside a coffee shop and drinking coffee and eating pastries to your heart's content? This sounds like a dream to me, but for poor Sage, getting trapped inside the Coffee Loft during a storm with her barista crush, Elliot, was more like a nightmare at first. H.M. Shander takes us way into the traumatized brain of Sage, who dealt with the after effects of a lightning strike as a child. Couple that with commitment issues from trauma, sweet Elliot has his work cut out for him if he wants to make Sage his gal.

This forced proximity story was amazing because we just got tons of conversation between this almost couple. When it shuts off in the story, the reader also feels bereft because it has set the entire tone of the story. I love a good meddlesome sister who can help a gal see past her own nose... Cassie and Alice to the rescue!

I also love stories where a guy just sees the value in a gal and says, 'How do I need to be to be with her'? I don't mean changing themselves, but finding introspective ways to meet them where they are. This was really well done and so very practical.

"We’ll take it moment by moment then, since really, that’s what life is. The regular, the ordinary, with moments of something extraordinary tossed in every once in a while to keep us on our toes."

The MCs really shine in this story, and I loved every moment of it!

I received a complimentary copy of the author's story to read and review. All thoughts contained here are my own

ARC Review⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s The Fall Coffee Loft I have been waiting for!! Why is that? Because the wonderful H.M. Shander writes the best puns to keep you laughing and wanting more! Check out the fun list of puns below and know that is an incomplete list.😊 I really enjoyed this one. It is told from the heroine’s point of view only and is a full-length standalone novel with some crossover characters from the authors prior Coffee Loft book Living La Vida Mocha. Sage works in a bookstore and loves to read romance, but is unlucky in love. Elliot works in the local Coffee Loft and is a genuinely nice guy! One fateful night brings them together. I really enjoyed the forced proximity in this one, it was so well done and fun! I loved the real emotions and issues presented here too, mix that with the humor and it was a lovely combination. I highly recommend this one!

☕️ Oh the puns…
"A whole latte crazy fun”
“You have Gatsby kidding me”
“We’re the perfect blend”
“Thanks a latte”
“What the beans happened”
“Yours was a latte work.”

Description:
This sweet, forced proximity romance set in the heart of the Rocky Mountains contains high levels of emotion, a latte coffee and bookish puns, and is percolating with lots of tender, swoony moments.

🧡 Puntastic hero
🍂 Brew-tiful romance
☕️ Forced Proximity
🧡 Meant-to-bean
🍂 Opposites Attract
☕️ Small Town

Thank you to the author H.M. Shander for the advanced electronic copy of the book!

This was my first ever book by H.M. Shander and it definitely won't be my last. The story was such a fun and sweet book with wonderful characters and their growth and journey of not only with each other but of themselves too. A great edition to The Coffee Loft multi-author series.

Loved Sage....totally someone I would love to be friends with in real life. She's sweet, funny, loyal to her sister, sense of humor in puns and loves all things books. I wish I could see her book tree creations in real life!! She's had some rough dates and so it's put her off a little towards dating but she never did lose her eye for Elliot....the cute barista at The Coffee Loft.

Oh my Elliot....charming, charismatic, also good at creating puns with his customers, and thoughtful. I don't even drink coffee but I want to order a drink just so I could visually see what Sage sees how he moves about creating various drinks for customers.

They are the perfect couple. As the reader you see it right away but I was fun watching them come to the realization of their feelings and attractions to each other. The author does a great job creating chemistry and keeping things clean but making them swoony and "hallmarky" -- which is what I love!! And oh the sweet, flirty gestures and actions he does for Sage throughout the beginning/middle of the story.

Clean romance, a minor swear word used. I loved this description I saw online for this book on what you'll find --

This is a sweet romance punctuated by truths and misunderstandings. Sage and Elliot work near each other and admire each other from a distance. She goes into his coffee shop every day on her way to the bookstore where she works. They flirt a tiny bit. Behind their backs, their sisters are trying to set them up with each other at an astronomy festival, but they have the ultimate introduction when a huge thunderstorm knocks down a tree and the power goes out. All sorts of secrets are revealed, but Sage is too afraid to acknowledge her feelings. The sisters strike again a few weeks later, and all is well.
I read everything H.M. Shander writes, and these little clean romances are not as exciting as her usual novels, but she does them with the same complexity and care that she gives to her larger works. The characters have depth and the story has nuance and heft. This is a talent that few writers have, so enjoy this for what it is--a gift.
I received an ARC from the author and left this review voluntarily and happily.

Another great addition to the Coffee Loft Series. This tells the story of Elliot and Sage. Two people who are very different and have their own fears. But after one night in a very bad storm, they may realize that they have far more in common.
Sage is a lover of books. She loves to recycle them, read them and as the perfect opportunity to share her love of them by working at a bookstore not far from the Coffee Loft where her crush works. She is not looking for a man. She has not had the greatest luck with them. But her sister and friend are bound and determined to help her find the one. Little does Sage know the blind date she is being pushed into is with her crush.
Elliot and Sage show some very lovable intense moments during the storm. But then words are exchanged once the storm clears that can ruin what was building between them?
Will Sage and Elliot realizes what was there all along?
I loved this storyline. Another great book in the coffee loft series with two great characters you can easily relate to and enjoy their story.

This sweet but not too sweet story is as scrumptious as Elliott’s maple macchiatos.
Elliott is the handsome barista at the coffee loft. Sage loves going in for her morning caffeine fix and to just watch Elliott work each day before going to her work at the local book store.
One evening after hours, Sage stops by the Coffee Loft on her way home from work. A storm rolls in, knocking out the towns power grid, and dropping a tree to block Elliott and Sage inside the Coffee Loft. They spend the sweetest night together (like seriously I don’t want to get stuck in a store like that but whoo! I could use a romantic night “locked in” with my handsome barista). This night is the stuff of dreams, even if it isn’t supposed to be romantic.
Will Sage and Elliott learn to trust each other enough to give a real relationship a try? Or will they let the mistakes others made in the past keep them from taking the chance?
This closed door romcom is sweet and steamy with no explicit spice. It will leave you smiling, even with all the puns. You’ll like it a latte.

Oh my goodness, Elliot and Sage have such a crazy story. I also adored the puns...the teacher in me giggled so much.

I love how much Sage wants to help her community and get books into everyone’s hands. She has a routine and generally is not spontaneous. Things change when she is stuck with her crush Elliott in the coffee loft during a freak storm. She truly has to let herself rely on Elliot to help her through the storm and her fears.
Elliot Is out to prove that not everyone is like Sage’s dad. He is sweet and caring and really wants to be with Sage, if only she’ll let him take care of her for good.

The Dark Sky Festival seems like a good time for some meddling by Sage and Elliot’s sisters. So what will happen?

This sweet, forced proximity romance set in the heart of the Rocky Mountains contains high levels of emotion, a latte coffee and bookish puns, and is percolating with lots of tender, swoony moments.

Money from each ebook and paperback sale, until October 31, will be donated to the town of Jasper since it was ravaged by wildfires in July 2024.

H.M. Shander is back with another book for this season in The Coffee Loft Series! Elliott is a barista at The Coffee Loft and Sage works at the bookstore next door. Sage has had a crush on Elliott for awhile. She goes into the coffee loft almost daily for her Maple Macchiato Latte and he always has one waiting for her if he knows what time she's coming in. You know there’s a connection between these two but they will have to over come some things before they get to that point. Elliott will have you swooning and smiling. He's just the sweetest thing. This story and the characters were well written and enjoyable. This one does have involve more emotion then all the LOL moments the other books have but it was a great story. I still had plenty of LOL moments. Especially when it comes to coffee puns! I would definitely recommend this book.

Thank you H.M.Shander for allowing me to read this ARC for my honest opinion.

In It’s a Brewtiful Day by H.M. Shander, Sage has a crush on barista Elliott, who is the total opposite of Sage. This makes for a cute romance story. But when the weather turns and she has to endure a fierce storm while staying at the Coffee Shop, they get to know each other better.

From the very first I loved Sage, she is a romantic and loves to read. I could so relate to her. I am also afraid of thunderstorms and I love to read. And I just loved Elliott. He is so laid back and I loved how he tried to make Sage feel safe. Their growing relationship during the night is just lovely, their chemistry is great and sweet.

The writing style in It’s a Brewtiful Day is flowing and the book is so easy and relaxing to read.

It’s a Brewtiful Day is a sweet and swoony romance story and a great addition to the Coffee Loft series, a series I love. If you want to read a clean romance story, with two very likable characters, a flowing writing style, do read this book.

Can two people address their fears together?
This book is a thoughtful read of facing your fears by letting others in to learn and help you through the process. Sage is a bookstore employee who stops each morning at the Coffee Loft before going next door to her job. She enjoys the coffee but really enjoys the view of her secret crush, Elliot. As much as she was interested in Elliot, she knew nothing would come of it because of the person she was and the fears she carried with her. When a sudden storm traps her with Elliot in the Coffee Loft, her fears begin to become apparent to Elliot. Her fears, had chased every other man away, yet Elliot’s only focus was Sage. Soon Elliot’s fears also were on display. Can Sage and Elliot set their fears aside long enough to see if there could be more between them? I received an early copy and this is my honest review.

Let me just say that you cannot go wrong reading any of the books in the Coffee Loft series. The story behind this one was very unique, and I enjoyed reading it.

Sage has no issue escaping into a romance book, but real life romance has not been kind to her. So, she just lives vicariously through the fictional characters in her books while she admires her local barista, Elliot from afar. All that changes when they are stuck together during a storm. She finds herself relaxing, even though storms make her anxiety levels skyrocket. Elliot was such a sweetheart that I wanted to reach into the book and hug him for being so kind.

This book was both emotional and funny. Entertaining characters and a pleasant story make this a must read for the fall season.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Another entertaining sweet romance from the coffee loft series. The story takes place in a small mountain town. Sage helps run the local bookshop with dreams of owning it one day. She has her routine of stopping at the coffee loft every morning to get her caffeine fix, but the attractive Barista is a nice bonus. Elliot has been working the coffee loft for sometime. He also has dreams of buying it. He is intrigued by the bookshop girl that comes in every morning.
I thought this was a sweet story of two people that end up facing their fears together out of forced proximity when a fierce storm rolls through. The chemistry was good between the two main characters. There was a little bit of drama. It takes place for the most part on one night. It’s a fast paced read. I appreciate that it is a clean romance with one or two swearwords.

The coffee loft series has been so very sweet and heartwarming. Sage and Elliot are just that way as well. Sage visits the coffee shop everyday on her way to work. She loves the coffee but she adores her barista even more. But Sage is not one for relationships as she didn’t have a good roll model which carried over to her own relationships with several losers. She soon learned to get rid of them before they could get rid of her. But Elliot was a kind and caring person, and after being trapped all night in the coffee shop, enduring a huge storm with him, she knew he was not like all the rest. Too bad that her fears always get the best of her and she pushes away the very best person that she has ever known!

This was such a cute book! I loved the Puns! I loved that it was BOOKS and COFFEE! What more could you want! ;) Sage and Elliot are both CRUSHING hard on each other, they just don't know it. I loved the sweet gestures Elliot would do to let Sage know he SAW her. Sage has some hard issues to work through and is content just watching her crush from afar. She doesn't plan to be trapped for a whole night in the Coffee Loft with Elliot. She lets her guard down and its so Brewtiful, but the next morning its like she flips that switch off. You could feel the pain they are both in. I love when an author can invoke those feelings. I loved Everything about this book and loved the ending the most! I definitely recommend this book!

There is something about a book that is set in a coffee shop & a book store; this book is just that! Sage visits the Coffee Loft on a regular basis to not only get her caffeine fix but to get a moment with Elliot, the barista. When an unexpected storm hits, they are trapped overnight at the Coffee Loft. During this time, Elliot is so sweet & thoughtful ensuring Sage has what is needed to be comfortable until they are rescued.
I did not see the "break up" coming after the rescue, though, nor did I anticipate Sage's behavior during that time. In the end, it all worked out for these 2! I hope we get a glimpse of their future in another book.

I loved that this story primarily took place in the Coffee Loft.

Is a sweet small town, close proximity romance with no cliffhanger
Some of the lines I really like ---- “Metaphors be with you.” “You have Gatsby kidding me,” ---- “Because no one would ever accuse me of being spicy.” ---- "That may be true, but if you know something, you can get someone else excited about it. The passion rubs off.” ---- “It mocha me so happy too.” ----“Let’s go sell a whole latte coffee and make sure everyone’s weekend is all booked.” ---- “Stop stealing my lines!” ------
Who's Fox? Who's the redhead Sage has seen Elliott with? What's Alice and Casie up to? These and other questions will all be answered.
I loved Sage and Elliott's story and I'm sure you wil I'mll too. I've loved everyone of her books that I've read and can't wait to read her next book.

Sage and Elliot are the absolute sweetest. She’s been going to the Coffee Loft where he works crushing on him, as he is her. She works at the bookstore and does a book borrow program in their small town. Both of their sisters are always trying to set them up and have actually found a way for them to meet, not knowing it’s each other. They both miss the meet up because of a raging storm. This is where the story became personal for me. I, like Sage, am terrified of storms. WhenElliot realizes what’s going on he does everything he can to soothe her. I could not believe how genuine and sweet he is and Sage deserves to be treated well. She is the only one who doesn’t know that. She has more past demons than Elliot and to watch her realize her worth made this story priceless.

I loved this book a latte! It was a very heartwarming story filled with so many adorable puns! Sage has had several tragedies occur in her life, making her closed off to the possibility of love. Fortunately, her crush on the Coffee Loft barista Elliot pans out when they end up stuck in the Coffee Loft store overnight during a huge storm. Unlike her previous boyfriends, he is a genuinely nice guy who is there for her when she needs him the most, helping her to slowly overcome her issues. She is also there to cheer him on. They make the perfect team! I adored the small town setting of the book and all of the other wonderful characters.

This is a very punny, sweet book. The coffee and book puns made me laugh so hard. It is a swoony kisses-only, her POV, forced proximity, small town, Cinnamon Roll Barista, a wounded Romance Book lover, a scary thunderstorm, meddling family, a little library, and lots of book trees & flowers. Elliot is so sweet in his pursuit of winning Sage's heart and trust. I swooned a little when he brought her replacement drink to her bookstore. I would love to try a Maple Twist Macchiato, which sounds like a perfect drink to me. This is only the second book I've read by H.M. Shander, but it won't be my last!
