The Jesus Method: A Reliable Approach to Navigating Today's Urgent Social Issues

Rate this book
In an increasingly polarized society, we're faced with social dilemmas and disagreements every day, from economic systems to elections, pronouns to pop culture. These topics can derail families, friendships, workplaces, churches, and of course, the dreaded Facebook comments section.

Followers of Jesus often find themselves stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to navigating tough conversations with both grace and truth.

Do we "take a stand" and share God's truth, even if it alienates or offends the other person? Or do we remain silent out of kindness and respect, but wonder if we're being untrue to our values?

The Jesus Method offers a different a simple, clear model for dealing with social dilemmas the way Jesus would, giving you confidence that you can respond with wisdom and love no matter what hot-button issues come your way. By examining Jesus' mindset and approach to tough situations - not just WHAT He said, but HOW He said it - you will discover a path that alleviates the pressure to "get it right" and helps you get unstuck and move forward with those you love.

The Jesus Method doesn't tell you what to think or what stance to take. Instead, it gives you a process for navigating the messy middle of truth and love, honesty and self-control while engaging in Jesus's #1 relationships.

The Jesus Method by Dr. Ted Bryant was about the best book I have ever read. This book is not part of a series, so for someone who likes to read one book and then move on this one is perfect. This book gives details about Jesus’s life, and how he navigated worldly problems or dilemmas in the Bible. It explains how we can maintain a relationship with Jesus and how Jesus can use us to help others know him.

The main point of this book is to help increase our level of relationship with God, while also learning how to show God’s love to others. What I took away from this book is how to increase my relationship with God through the example of Jesus. I loved the examples where his followers were able to trust everything, He said no matter what. This book covers ways God can use people giving multiple examples when Jesus’s followers healed people without him even being there. I also learned how Jesus avoided social dilemmas, or traps, which were set to turn people against him. There were examples of when Jesus would win an argument with the Pharisees even when they thought they had cornered him.

The author is the pastor of my church, and he says in the book that he felt led to write this to help others grow closer to God and navigate life the way Jesus did. He wants readers to recognize that there is a God and He wants a relationship with them. This book is written in first and second person switching back and forth. The author creates an inspiring mood because he writes about all the miracles and wonderful things that Jesus did. This inspires me to be more like Jesus.
What I appreciate most about this book is the effort Dr. Ted Bryant put into making sure the reader knows how loved and wanted by God they are. He made it clear just what Jesus’s life was and what we should take away from it. The chapter I took the most away from was Chapter Three, Witness. It was about Jesus’ followers who witnessed his life and miracles. This chapter made me want to be more like Jesus and wanting Him to use me however He wants to.

I connected with the author’s story because I also had an experience with Jesus in my life, like the stories in the book. I am 15 years old and this summer I had several blood tests that showed my white blood cell count was extremely low. I was then referred to a hematologist but before my final blood test, I went to church camp. On the last night there, my group leader prayed for me and the moment he laid his hand on my back I felt a cold rush of air go through my entire body. When I went to the hematologist the new blood test confirmed that my white blood cell count doubled, and in one part it even tripled. I believe that one prayer by my group leader fixed every single problem in my body. There is no doubt in my mind that God has my back, He is real, and that Jesus healed me.

Great book. Helped me to understand how better to navigate social dilemmas. I don't have to raise my voice, shout out in anger or condemn others when I'm trying to get my point across. There is a kinder more loving way to speak truth. The Jesus Method.

Easy to follow steps duplicating how Jesus confronted people with the goal of creating relationships with God.
Good scriptural examples and support. "In all things ... to God in prayer..."

There is a lot of good in this book, but it somehow feels (to me, on my faith journey) like an incomplete picture of Christ.
