Strange happenings
This is a story about fulfilling a promise to a good friend. Colton feels guilty about his friend's death and wants to keep his promise. Meadow is having a hard time dealing with everything. This is a cliff hanger and the story continues in the next book.

Ugh didn’t realize it was going to be a semi-cliffhanger.
Colton has just left the SEALs which killed his best friend, Forest Gracey. Colton is honoring a promise he made to Forest to help each other’s families in the event of their own death. Colton is locked up at the airport by Meadow, Forest’s 26yo sister.
Meadow has been alone for a long time, she doesn’t seem to have girlfriends who feature much aside from the early chapters where she met her friend at the local bar. But after that the friend is never mentioned again. Odd that. But whatever. Meadow’s father doesn’t really hang out with her, the ranch hands sorta watch out for her, her younger sister Ivy is in Europe traveling, so Meadow is alone. And she finds Colton attractive and wants him to take her virginity.
She acts out a lot, and gets Colton to touch her intimately though this scene was completely ruined by the fact that they both had been helping a cow give birth and were both covered in birthing fluids, and I assume Colton’s arms were up in the cow’s hoo-ha to pull the calf out, and then he uses those hands to make Meadow come. Yuck!!! He didn’t wash his hands!!!!!!!!! Why would the author do this!?!? Barf inducing, very much so. I guess we’re supposed to forget that this scene is happening on the heels of the cow with no time in between where Colton got some soap, he didn’t even enter the river where Meadow had stripped down to “wash off” still without soap! Minus one star for this disgusting, supposed to be sexy scene. Anyway!!! So eventually things will be HEA for Colton and Meadow. And the next one will be between a new couple but carrying on some elements of this story.

All in all, it kept my attention, it’s definitely full of heat, and has a bit of romance too. The camaraderie amongst the ranch hands is nice too. And the danger surrounding what’s going on with the ranch is sorta intriguing, though it really depends on what is revealed to be the source of the danger. There was also this whole idea that this might turn BDSM because Colton muses about how he has a particular kink and darkness, blah blah, but other then some spankings and mentions of control, it never goes there either. So the book could be better of the author had not introduced all these ideas and never closed them up.

This is the first book in a new Bad Boy Ranch series and it was extremely good. I always enjoy Ms Petrova’s book and make it a point to grab any new ones that come along. Colton Nox lost his best friend, Forest, on a mission in Iraq and blamed himself. His buddy made him promise if anything ever happened to him, he would go to his family ranch in Montana and help save the ranch and watch over his sister, Meadow. Meadow is a handful, she’s bratty, mouthy and gorgeous. The last thing he should be thinking of is getting her in his bed. Great storyline with plenty of teasing annd flirting on Meadow’s part and avoiding her at all costs on Colton’s part. Her reckless behavior has him rescuing her several times. The characters are well developed you can’t help falling in love with. There’s something going on at that ranch and the only one with the answers is the owner,Meadow’s dad. Looking forward to the next book that will give us answers to that question and Mewdow’s younger sister, Ivy and Hunter’s story.

Ruthless Promise is the first book in the Bad Boy Ranch series by Em Petrova. While the main characters get their happily ever afters, some side-plots are left unfinished and they will continue on the next book, so I wouldn't say that this is a stand-alone book but it also doesn't end on a cliffhanger. Not that all of that matters. What matters is that I could barely finish the book. Colton was ok. Not great, not awful. But I didn't get and didn't like Meadow's character. She was a wild child at 20+ and she was acting out for the sake of acting out. I don't like people who park in handicapped spots. And then she was the one who was holding her family together and after that she was the virgin who was always dancing with men on the local club and after that the author gave her a ranch hand who was secretly pinning for her this whole time. Meadow was 930184 plots/themes in one. That overcomplicated things and left zero room for romance. She and Colton barely had any time of romance, they were just sleeping together and then they said their "I love yous" and went on to get their happy ending.

Ruthless Promise is Book 1 of the Bad Boy Ranch series, which looks to be a wild ride! It's a steamy, instalust, age-gap, opposites-attract, girl gets her brother's best friend romance with a bit of mystery and suspense thrown in. Colton is a hunky playboy ex-Seal whose best friend, Forest, was killed in the line of duty. His dying wish is for Colton to go help his baby sister, Meadow, with the family ranch in Montana. He agrees but doesn't expect to be so attracted to Meadow or hated by her father so much as he blames Colton for his son's death. Meadow is a young, sweet, and sassy virgin who wants Colton. I loved how she pursued him first, and he tried to resist but couldn't. The couple had great chemistry, and we do get a happy ending for them, but the book ends in a bit of a cliffhanger about happenings on the ranch and who is causing the trouble. The twist at the end was quite surprising. I'm looking forward to Ivy and Hunter's book!.

Ross Wynton from West Protection wants Colton Nox to join his group but he has promised his fallen soldier brother to take care of his sister, Meadow Gracey, and his ranch if he gets killed. This is an action packed adrenalin rush of a book that the next in the series comes sooner rather than later. It has lots of angst and sex thrown in as the stage is set for other characters to join into the mix for this love interest to go forward for this mystery and hopefully some of our questions get answered. You are on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what is actually happening at the ranch - lots of questions and lots of unknown things going on. This book keeps you guessing and is a real page turner and nail chewer. Thankfully another book and part of the series is coming soon! A great read that has you wanting more. Colton and Forest were SEALS together before Forest was killed on a mission. Colton had vowed he would protect his friend's sister so after being discharged, he headed for their ranch. The father is a real piece of work but Meadow is an angel who trains horses and seems to be left out of things by her father. The characters are terrific, rich with personality, strengths, passion and sass. The storyline is the start of a new series so a lot of questions are left at the end, but the build up of situations, danger, comments and hidden agendas kept the pages turning. Loved the joining of forces between Colton and Meadow and now they will have some more support with her sister and another of Colton's friends. Can't wait to read more of this series as I am completely hooked. Just can't resist this author's style of writing.

Colton Nox former Navy SEAL with the DEV-GRU Navy Special Warfare Development Group has retired. His last mission went belly up and most of the team didn’t come home including his best friend, Forest Gracey.
Forest always told Colton that if he didn’t make it, Colton needed to go to the Gracey Ranch to help save it and his sister Meadow. Meadow Gracey is pretty much alone on the ranch. Since both her mom and Forest died, her dad has withdrawn, and her younger sister Ivy ran off for adventure in Europe. Meadow is an independent feisty, mouthy woman who sasses everyone. She’s also lost. When Colton shows up, he’s all alpha all the time and that gets on Meadows's nerves. They spar a-lot, but Colton both “tames” Meadow and gives her security, comfort, and love. Something bad is happening with the ranch and her dad Sean may be involved. This story continues with “Cruel Expectations”. I loved the ranch and small Montana town setting. Linda

I always enjoy the stories when someone falls in love with their best bud's little sister and this one was well-written. When Colton's best friend Forest is killed in a special ops mission gone bad, his last request was for him to take care of his little sister Meadow and to help save his family ranch. The survivor's guilt that Colton has over his friend's death won't dull his commitment to fulfill that promise but falling in love with Meadow was not supposed to be part of that promise. There is an element of danger we see interwoven throughout the story but don't find out the real details until almost the end and that reveal is a whopper. Loved this story and the HEA was worth all the struggles they went through to get there.

One great thing about this story is that there is never a dull or boring moment. It’s well written and grabbed my attention at the very beginning. I love that Meadow wants Colton and goes after him. He fights the attraction but finally decides he loves her and then things between them improve. There is a hidden danger that is getting closer and Colton needs to stop it if only he knew what and where it was coming from. The story is action packed which makes for great reading. I can’t wait to see what happens next and thankfully the next book is coming soon. This is a great start to a new series and worth reading.

Ruthless Promise is the 1st book in the brand-new Bad Boy Ranch series. Colton and Meadow's story starts out as an insta-attraction romance between a broken-hearted veteran and his dead friend's younger sister he's promised to protect. It's a very engaging story of working through trauma and the ever-growing feelings between them finally winning. While there's a lot happening, the suspense doesn't kick in until the last few chapters - but when it hits, it's heart-pounding, pulse-racing ... and then the book is done. With a happy ending for the couple, but something of a cliffhanger since the trouble and danger on the ranch are only just getting started. Good thing the next book is coming soon!.

Colton blames himself for the death of his bestfriend and fellow marine. But he promised to help with the family's ranch and especially to watch over the younger sister. Meadow is excited to finally meet Colton she has heard nothing but praise. But he keeps giving her a cold shoulder and I'd often rude. She has held to the promise her brother made her take of waiting for someone who loves her properly. Colton finds himself wanting Meadow for his own but also believes he is not what she needs. But as things around the ranch gets weird and both spend more time time together things change. Meadow the wild child needs the strong hand Colton is known for.

This is the first book from Em Petrova that ends with an HFN that I have read. I still have questions and unresolved events. Who, what, why?
Colton arrived at the Gracey Ranch after his friend died in combat. Àfter arriving to fulfill his promise, Foster's father leaves to attend conferences. Things aren't going well and strange feelings arise and things fall apart when Meadow's father has a heart attack on his return.
I was so caught up in the story that I didn’t realise I was reaching the end of the book. I am now left tapping my fingers until book two in this series appears in my library. Please let it be soon.

Ruthless Promise
This is the first book in a new series and I'm sure it's going to be a good series. This book is full of family, promises, cowboys and an evil that no one sees. The storyline is intense in that Colton made a promise to his best friend to take care of hif family ranch and sister Willow if anything happened to him. Colton and Willow are opposites in many ways but are meant to be together. Something is wrong at the ranch but they don't know what and that theme carries into book 2. The character are strongly imagined and easy to like. This author likes her characters and she makes them very visual. You can see them in your mind and you just fall into the story. This was a quick read and enjoyable.

This is Book 1 of Bad Boy Ranch starring special ops Colton and Meadow. OMG this one is a mystery for sure and the way this one ends leaves another mystery too that will have you wanting the next book quickly, but that being said this one holds Sorrow and loss along with one wild woman that needs her military man to tame her. I loved the sassy bratty way Meadow acts to keep people from her but when Colton comes to the ranch she learns what happens to brats that tease this hardened warrior. I have to say I still think she needs more lessons. Will see if she gets any in the next book.

This is a well-written and action packed series opener that brings together ex military, Colton, suffering survivor's guilt over the death of his buddy, and Meadow, the sister of that buddy. He never expected to fall for her and I have to say, she was quite the brat and teased him. A lot ;P This story really caught my attention from the first chapter and held it until the end. These two do get their HEA but the over arching plot was a massive cliffy and I'm dying to know how things will unfold. Expect hidden danger, suspense, chemistry, healing and steamy romance to enthrall you as you follow them to their hard earned HEA. Good fun!

This is the first in the author's new series in the WEST Protection world. Colton made his brother in arms, Forest, that he would look after his younger sister, Meadow. He had no idea how he would react to her when he meets her. The chemistry between the is hot from the beginning, Colton tries to keep her at arms length but Meadow is having none of that. She is determined to make the man hers.
There is something more sinister going on, Colton will need to rely on his SEAL training to protect Meadow. Cannot wait for the next in the series.

WOW! This one will definitely leave you wanting more as Colton and Meadow go from an enemies to lovers relationship. Colton feels from the beginning that something at the Gracey Ranch was not right, but he could not figure it out. The only outward sign, he saw was the shortage of hands with no explanation. Her dad was gone on trips for extended periods of time. Meadow raised herself after the death of her mother, and she was bitter being the responsible sister staying on the ranch helping her dad, while her sister, Ivy traveled all over Europe dealing with the loss of their brother.

I love this author. The series looks to be a great one. I love the characters and the plot. Colton is a Navy Seal and Forest, his best friend and fellow navy seal, has been killed in action. He is fulfilling his promise to Forest that if something happened to him he would help out the family ranch and look after his sister. However, Colton feels responsible for Forest's death. Also, the fact that he is attracted to his sister makes Colton's job hard on him. Things are not what they seem on the ranch and a mystery begins. The book is left with a cliffhanger and I can't wait for book 2.

Great new series
Colton is making good on a promise to his best friend who died when they were in the service together. He feels responsible for his death. He promised to go to his family ranch and take care of his sister and the ranch. Colton starts having feelings for Meadow which causes bad feelings with the other ranch hands. When Meadow's father has a heart attack, Colton finds out that there are real problems on the ranch. He calls WEST Protection for help. The man they send arrives at the same time as Meadow's sister. This leads to the next book that I'm looking forward to reading. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited.

Colton Nox felt responsible for his BFF’s death but had promised to help at his Forest’s family ranch and look after his younger sister but Meadow Gracey was quite the temptation for him. Out for the night with other ranch hands, Colton had found a woman for the night but before he left or the festivities, he noticed a barely dressed Meadow making all the wrong moves with a dangerous biker. Meadow had pushed the other ranch hands trying to stop her fun away but Colton didn’t give her a choice, made it clear to everyone she was off limits and spanked her for good measure! Not the wisest move since they wanted each other much too much for that to be the end of it.

Ruthless Promise by Em Petrova is a good, and enjoyable bad boy cowboy navy seal military romantic suspense read. The story has a great entertaining world building story line that is a well written read. The characters are great, wonderful, and they have great chemistry. This story is a very entertaining action packed page turning romance read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The promise may be ruthless but the story is anything but
Ruthless Promise is the first book in the Bad Boy Ranch series. If the rest of the books in this series are as good as this one then sign me up to read them all. I loved the weaving together of family, friends, love, romance, cowboys, military men, some danger, suspense and more. The main characters of Meadow and Colton were well written, richly drawn, and so dang likeable. I am really looking forward to see where the author takes this new series.

I loved the weaving together of family, friends, love, romance, cowboys, military men, some danger, suspense and more. The main characters of Meadow and Colton were well written, richly drawn, and so dang likeable. I am really looking forward to see where the author takes this new series.

Colton needs to fulfill the promise he made to his best friend. He carries a load of shame and guilt; he blames himself for his friend's death.
Meadow has always been protected by her family and since his brother’s passing this protection has increased.
I have read several books by Em Petrova and I liked them all. However, in this book, there is a scene too cruel, and apart from that, the story is unfinished. I suppose the story will go on in book number two. Three stars and a half

I do love a hot and thrilling read and Author Em Petrova did not disappoint me and my reading experience at all with this first in the new series, Bad Boy Ranch.
If you enjoy a good plot surrounded by sexual tensions and frustrations, an ex military hot guy out to protect and promise those around him then this just might be your next read to check out. A great start to a new series which I am excited to see more of.

This is a well written military/cowboy romance with strong characters in Colton and Meadow. The author does a great job developing the story and painting her scenes. She takes you into their lives with attraction and sass and kept me reading with the mystery and action. She moves the story fluidly and delivers a terrific read . I'm looking forward to the next book.

This book was witty, intense, page turner.
Colton and Meadow were great characters.
The story will stay with you long after you've finished. Colton just got out of military and travels to his best friends ranch to honor his belated friends promise he made. Meadow is the belated friends sister and forbidden but something's are just meant to be even if it’s from beyond the grave.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I liked how Forest sends Colton to help his family's ranch and the surprise he has for them. Colton fell hard for Meadow and she for him. The blessing might be from a dead man but it is important for both of them. However there is something wrong on the ranch and the one with the answers is not well enough to give them. I look forward to learning more in the next book.

Great story , fantastic characters and spicy romance.
It’s suspense drama with a lot of angst and unfortunately not everything is resolved at the end.
Our couple has their own happiness but is also happy for now rest of the story.
Can’t wait for the next book, is going to be different couple but the same environment.
