Charming #2

Charming The Devil

Rate this book
Lilith knew her fate upon death, even if her wrong doings were ones rooted in vengeance. She didn’t know what to expect once becoming a resident of Hell, but falling in love with the devil himself wasn’t part of the plan. Lucifer has a throne to uphold and nothing can distract him from making all of his subjects fear and respect him. He tries to keep his distance from the one person in Hell who has made him feel again, but the temptation keeps growing. Maybe, just for her, he can show his soft side. This is the second book in the Charming series. It is reconmended to read in release order, however, this can be read as a standalone.

so my exams are finally over😮‍💨😭🙌🏼
and i finallyyy read this masterpiece🦋💌🏹🎀
and idk why more lilith x devil books don’t exist bc they most certainly need to, i mean
the angst🔥
forbidden romance👀
fl realising she’s a bad bitch🗡️🗡️
“i hate everyone but you”💘💘
choosing the morally grey DEATH GOD!????🫀
its a fucking goldmine of tropes✨✨

lilith was an absolute icon!!!!🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
at 21 she kinda sorta develops a penchant for murder✨ and kills her predator bf/professor and her sister’s rapey bf….
shit goes down and one day she and her twin get attacked by a vamp and die
amidst all her panic this happens
I hear other voices but can’t make them out. It sounds like multiple men. The last thing I hear before I go is a deep voice.
A voice that would probably make others tremble, but it fills me with warmth.
“It’s alright, love.
You’re coming home now.”

enter LUCIFER🥀🗡️💥
the god who’s been waiting for lilith for a long time…..
and now that he’s got her he isn’t about to let her go👀👀👀

“My poor, sweet, little demon. Making a mess of yourself and not being able to come,” he taunts, and all it does is make me wetter.
separation for years within which h got stronger and the H like a lost puppy waited for her to come back😭🧸💫
light bondage⛓️⛓️
H is the biggest simp for the fl💗💗

SPOILERS

did the fl reincarnate?
yes
thousands of years ago, the fl and H met but the fl was portrayed as someone very soft and sweet who did not like the fact that the devil was her mate, before she could die and live with lucifer she was killed by god as a punishment for lucifer, and was to be reincarnated, stronger, when god deemed fit

did the ml have kids? yes
the h of the previous book is his daughter
basically years ago before he met the h, in order to have more loyal demons he and some of his trusted demons went to the human world to “make” more demons, the ml had no idea that any kids of his own demon/human were born until the 7 year old previous books fl accidentally summons him
the h was with him during this time but didn’t feel jealous and instead fell in love with the little girl herself
now usually i would’ve hated this but there is zero owd
the kids mother did not like him and neither did he like her it was just a ons…

some of my fav quotes💌💌

“Poor thing, it must be so fucking exhausting being so different from other girls.” I lean in closer to whisper in her ear.
“And you have it all wrong, sweetheart. If anyone is getting on their knees, it will be Lucifer for me.”

lilith being a badass and teaching us how to shut slut shamers down🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

He laughs against my hair, tugging on the strands hard.
“Only I can give you this, and you know it. You want to come, you want to dance. You come to me.”

It hits me then that I’ve found someone who truly accepts me and that nothing I can do will scare him. I can be authentically me, and Lucifer won’t think I’m a monster or a bad person. If anything, he embraces this side of me that I’ve always hid away.

“Cheeky little demon. Are you going to be my good girl, or are you going to be my little brat tonight?”

“So fucking beautiful. My perfect,”
I pause, kissing the side of her head.
“Violent,”
Another pause and another kiss, this one to the underside of her jaw.
“Magnificent, little demon,” I finish.

She crawls toward me, and I have to rub my face, along with trying to subdue a groan. My queen is on her knees and crawling to me. Her breasts sway as she moves until she is in right front of me.
“You’re not the only one who kneels.”
“Love, you’re going to destroy me.”
She smirks.
“Good.”

now normally i don’t really pay much attention to playlists given in books cause idk they just sometimes don’t fit with the characters,

Oh my god, I was emotionally compromised by this book in the best way possible.

Sarah Blue brings in her best game when it comes to funny, unhinged characters. And even though her sweet Omegaverse books are perfection, I think she might’ve found her niche in Paranormal Romance and how the genre allows for testing the limits and playing with morally gray characters in the most fun, entertaining way.

The book starts with Lilith, our main character. She and her twin sister Diana are normal college girls, just living their normal college girls life. Except for the fact that at a house party, Lilith “borrows” a somewhat magical dagger and how it seems to communicate with her somehow. That dagger feeds into Lilith’s secret thirst for violence against misogynistic and abusive men. And thus a feminist icon is born.

This first part of the story gave me such a bust in serotonin, you have no idea. Just reading about Lilith taking control of her life, killing rapists and protecting women was chef’s kiss. I wish we had spent more time exploring this aspect.

But this book is action packed and fast paced, will keep you on your toes, asking for more please. There’s a feeling of intrigue and mystery throughout the whole book that kept me glued to the pages. I just had to know what was happening. The tension only escalates as the story progresses. Same as the romance.

Get ready for the most delicious slowest of burns. The tension and chemistry between Lucifer and Lilith are off the charts. You’ll beg for them to finally kiss. But once they do, the smut is the best kind of reward. Sarah Blue doesn’t disappoint and delivers some of the kinkiest and most creative smut scenes (astral projection masturbation, anyone??)

This is probably one of the most romantic romances Sarah has ever written. Lucifer will make you swoon in more ways than one. That man is pure sin. But he’s also such a simp for his wife. Lucifer is obsessed, and he has no idea how to deal with all the emotions. All he knows is that he has to protect Lilith no matter what, and he will burn the whole world down for her. The way he’s obsessed with Lilith was so good. The angst this man goes through will hit you in the feels.

And when they are finally together, his dirty mouth and devotion to his queen will have you fanning yourself. If you thought Dax was hot, wait until you hear what Lucifer says while they are at it.

If you loved Kas and Asmos in Charming Your Dad, you are getting more about their backstory in this one. Especially about Kas, who was one of the funniest and most interesting characters. I specially loved her friendship with Lilith.

Talking about getting emotional, Lilith's relationship with baby Blair will also make your heart melt. Oh, daddy Lucifer will make your ovaries explode, too. That man is just perfect, ffs.

And if you were curious about Blair’s sister, Mara, you’re going to have a blast with her in this book. She’s completely unhinged in the most fun way. I can’t wait for her book. I’m pretty sure we meet at least two of her future love interests in this book and let me tell you, I’m already obsessed!

Four Devil and Demon Stars

Charming The Devil is a unique and interesting intake of hell and the Devil. Which I found refreshing and loved.

Lilith is the twin sister of Diana. While Diana is light, Lilith is Dark. Lilith is always looking out for her twin—both Die of the same death. Diana goes to Heaven, and Lilith is staring at Lucifer. By the way, he never makes an appearance on someone’s death. What she doesn’t know is why he is there.

Lilith is the one person who is not afraid of Lucifer and challenges him at every turn. At times, it is very comical. We read a different side of the devil. Who knew the devil had a heart? With danger lurking in the background, Lucifer, letting fear get in his way, is afraid of what will happen to Lilith, not giving her enough credit. She is fierce and a true warrior.

Charming the Devil is a slow-burn and complex book. It goes into depth about Angels vs. demons, the politics of it all, and other realms. We also get to read Lucifer’s POV from events from Charming Your Dad.

Overall, I enjoyed the angst, Snarky comments, friends, softer side of Lucifer, and, of course, the spice. I can’t wait for book three.

Welp…I was really looking forward to this, and I did like it. But I didn’t love it. But still, it was a fun read! I absolutely love Lucifer and Lilith retellings, but I haven’t read many of them. I especially love it when Lucifer has BDE, and when he worships Lilith. In this retelling, Lilith was a human woman with a twin who succumbs to death at the hands of a vampire. Her twin, Diana, went to Heaven, while Lilith went to Hell. Why, you ask? Oh, maybe because she has a penchant for killing men who wrong women…that’s why. Only there is another reason, too. She’s fated to be with Lucifer. And he doesn’t plan on telling her. What could go wrong?

I had a nice time reading this, but I did alooooot of skimming and speed reading. Lucifer and Lilith actually weren’t together for most of the book. There was pining, so much pining. In the words of Angela from The Office, “I do NOT enjoy being titillated. At least not for literally 80% of the damn book. I didn’t love Lilith, although she was a badass, she was too…je ne sais quois. I don’t know. Their connection wasn’t great to me, Lucifer was a careless IDIOT and their miscommunication made me feel stabby. On to the next!

I guess why I’m most disappointed is because I loved Charming Your Dad so much. This felt rushed. Whenever there’s a book that’s trying to fit into a story line that already exists in another book, it makes it feel like trying to shove random pieces into the holes to make them fit. There’s jumps from one point to another in the story that leaves it feeling rushed and unfinished. It felt more like a backstory on how they got where they were in Charming Your Dad than a romance that could stand on its own. I also got the wrong impression of Lucifer which is on me but, I though he’s be this dominant, scary guy but he was more a soft puppy. There also just wasn’t much the their romance building and barely any spice until quite a bit in. I would definitely recommend reading Charming Your Dad before this one or all the brief brush overs will just be that much more frustrating.

Sloppy writing, strangely paced, and ineffective at retracing certain plot points already covered in the (much better) first novel of this series.

Also: there’s much less spice than you’d expect if you’ve read other work from this author.

In sum: skip this one.

We finally get to read this story!! We saw bits and pieces of this couple in charming your dad, and I was already hooked.

We first met Lilith in the human world and how she was always watching out for her twin sister, I wish the twin was more thankful for having a sister like her she cared so much for the twin. We see Lilith take matters into her own hands when she gets revenge on a few men who do bad things. And when the twin finds out, she calls her some horrible things.

They don't get to make amends since they both die, and one goes to heaven, and she's in Hell.. now her and Lucifer are in the same place he makes sure she's taken care of he's so soft with her that she's confused about why she's his assistant and how he acts towards her.
But only in private he's soft he acts like nothing in public, which causes some hurt for Lilith.

More drama happens that has her pushing away and staying on earth watching over Blair Lucifer daughter from afar. And trying to get vengeance against another demon. As for Lucifer, he's stalking from afar and trying to keep himself busy and waiting for his mate to come back.
When she does come back, it's when Blair and Mara are in Hell.. couple more ups and downs that Lucifer needs to fix. I can't wait to read book 3. And see Mara being the badass she is.

It’s not that I don’t know how to talk to people or that I dislike people... well, I do dislike a lot of people. It’s just that something has always felt off. Like I don’t belong.

This was the second book in the Charming series and tbh I enjoyed about half of it. It really liked the beginning where we see Lilith as a human and how she ended up where she does.

This book is a very slow burn. It won’t be anything like Charming Your Dad, if you are wondering.

My hang up was the last 30% of the book. It felt rushed and a bit emotionless.

Secrets, lust, sadness, and frustration.

Turning back time and learning what happened before the first book was quite interesting.
This installment follows a strong-willed heroine with a passion for violence as she navigates a dangerous, confusing new reality.
The chemistry with her devilish love interest is full of tension and heat.

It was a great read, though I liked the first book more.

“Pushing him is becoming my favorite pastime...

…I’m just not sure where the edge of his patience is.”

I enjoyed Lilith and Lucifer’s story. If you read Charming Your Dad, then you absolutely need to pick this up because I know Lilith’s little quips and banter with Lucifer probably intrigued you. It did me and that’s why I was here. This takes place previous to that book and also runs adjacent with it in ways. All in all a good fated mates who can’t be together type deal. I’d never read anything where they had to be apart because of reasons, but it was interesting.

I think if you enjoyed watching Supernatural, but wanted to have a romance from the supes POV then you’ll enjoy these books.

Charming Your Dad was such a kinky, smutty time that I was frothing at the mouth to see the dominant, kinky shit daddy Lucifer was about to do in Charming The Devil.

Well, spoiler alert to all: this was actually slow burn as fuck.

Ok so he does finger bang her at the 45% mark! But then she fucks off to Earth for her own drawn out vendetta, leaving him in Hell for YEARS until they finally reunite and kiss at the 78% mark (don't @ me, but yes, I totally remember when they got physically intimate because I was fucking aching for it at that point lol).

I also expected this to be kinky as shit but unfortunately, that was not the case. Lucifer gave off such strong scary, daddy dom vibes, when in reality he's more of a soft boy. Like yeah he has an overwhelming aura, he IS Satan, but he's much more tame than I expected. That's not to say he's not hot though! The mouth on that man? Oooof.

I was mildly frustrated for a number of reasons reading this, but especially at Lilith and her disdain for where she ended up and what she is, but seeing her embrace her demon nature was fun. I also enjoyed seeing baby Blair in this! She was a delight.

I think I would've loved this much more if I was went in knowing this would be more of a slow burn. Even then, I wish Lilith and Lucifer didn't spend so much of this book on different planes. There's some maintained tension with Lilith's astral projections, but it's not enough. The book feels a little bland in the middle. The ending groveling scene though? Yes.

Rating: 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars.

I know nothing about Charming As Hell so I'm not sure if it'll be about Mara or Kas but I'm still gonna read it.

“Cheeky little demon. Are you going to be my good girl, or are you going to be my little brat tonight?”

This slow burn number had me tied up in knots! This book’s title should be Charming the Devil: How many times can Lucifer f**k it up and still get his HEA. The emotional pain both characters suffered was such sweet torture to witness, and I was caught in the pages, just hoping that they would figure it out in the end.

I adored Lilith. She embraced her darkness and was a little bit stabby - walking around as an avenging angel demon, offing r@pists and abusers, making the world just a little bit safer for women. She didn’t put up with Lucifer’s attempts at hiding who she was, or his declarations of affection followed immediately by contrary actions. She got the hell out of Hell. And she called him on it. Thank you, Sarah, for writing a FMC with the guts to walk away or speak her mind.

Lucifer’s hot and cold act had me losing my wits. If I could have jumped through the page and knocked some sense into him… this would have been a much shorter book. We could see how much he loved and needed Lilith, but he kept doing everything wrong, only pushing her away more, all in a misguided attempt to protect her. However, watching him pining for her from afar was a pretty good penance.

When these two could get on the same page, they set it alight! Lilith is a little brat, and Lucifer likes being the boss. The heat gets intense – some sensory play, usage of powers for restraints, very naughty talk, and public play are on the menu.

I loved Lilith and Lucifer’s story. I am excited for the next book in the series. Lucifer’s other daughter, Mara, will take us for a Hell of a ride!

Genre: Paranormal Romance

I absolutely LOVED Charming Your Dad when I read it last year, and I was so excited to read the next instalment in the series. This book is about Lilith & Lucifer, and their second chance at love.

I really enjoyed L&L’s moments in Charming Your Dad and so I was looking forward to this book, however it fell a bit flat for me. I didn’t find it nearly as engaging as the first book, the story seemed a bit unpolished and chaotic. I felt I didn’t have much connection with either main character, which may have been due to the timeline because it would skip a few years here and there in order to get the plot to the same timeline as the previous book.

It was still a fun read and I would recommend checking it out. It wasn’t nearly as spicy as I thought it was going to be, I expected more from the Devil himself I guess. The next book sounds interesting as well, and I’ll probably still check it out (for those who read the first book, the next one is about Mara)!

This series is so ridiculously fun, cute, and bingeable! If you love spicy books and reading books with demons, the underworld, Hades, or the devil - you’ll definitely like this.

This is book 2 in the Charming series and it follows Lucifer and his fated mate whom he hired as his personal assistant (but she doesn’t know they’re fated mates yet). Most of the story takes place in Hell as they try to figure out who is conspiring with the angels against them.

Touch her and you die vibes, he’s super protective, and basically hates everyone but her. LOVE THAT

There is also the perfect blend of spice and plot.

Some of the spicy things you’ll find in here are bondage, the Saint Andrew’s cross, gagging, exhibitionism, and probably some other things I’m forgetting as well.

I’d give it a 4/5 on the spicy scale.

I loved this so much I basically read it in a day! Paranormal romance girlies, you need to read this. It’ll make a super fun spooky season read.

P.S. I rated this as a 3/5 for spice in my TikTok video but that was because I read a crazy amount of monster smut this week and it screwed up my perception of what is spicy lol

I am loving this world Sarah created in the Charming series. I loved Charming Your Dad, so I knew instantly that I would love Charming the Devil.

Lilith was such a badass lady, and she didn't take crap from anyone. She was strong and fearless, and the last thing she expected was to end up in Hell and fall in love with the Devil.

This was a SLOW BURN, but the scenes she had were HOT. I wish she sprinkled a little more spice in this book, but I still loved the characters and the story.

Thank you so much for the arc and happy release day, Sarah!

Who would have thought the Devil was such a cinnamon roll? Not me. But I loved it so much! Don’t get me wrong, he’s definitely still a menace and devilishly (pun intended) handsome with all the charm and charisma.

Lilith’s story starts out with her at a college party with her twin sister Diana, when she finds a dagger mysteriously calling her. She takes it and the repercussions for taking the dagger leads to her and her sister to end up dead. Lilith is taken to hell and Diana to heaven. Lilith has to adjust to her new life as a demon living in hell and working as Lucifer’s assistant. When her angel sister is murdered in the afterlife by another demon when she entered hell, Lilith is driven by vengeance to find out what her sister’s last words meant and what she was trying to warn Lilith about.

I was very excited about Lilith and Lucifer’s dynamic, and it did not disappoint. I loved that Lilith was a brat with a feisty spirit and a mouth on her. I could not get enough of the king of Hell persona and how powerful and dominant Lucifer was. Whenever Lilith was involved, his dominant side got tested time and time again- it was so much fun! The tension building between them was so good! Delayed gratification indeed! The slow burn was deliciously slow with a hot af reward.

My favorite part of this was to see the two unhinged souls full of menace come together through their trauma and choosing each other. Their character development was wonderfully done. Through Lilith’s journey to find answers she truly embraces her dark and unhinged sides of her demon self and grows into someone to be reckoned with. I was taken by surprise by how tender and caring Lucifer was- a softer side just for the ones he loves. He had to deal with his own shortcomings and trauma. It was heartwarming to see him vulnerable. He was so sweet, and whenever he was smirking like the Devil he is, I was swooning! 100% a cinnamon roll that could unalive you!

“I’m not a person who would condemn you for how dark your soul is, Lilith. I would want you because if it. Hell, this is your chance to truly be yourself, the person you’ve always wanted to be. If you stopped treating it like a sentence and more like a gift, I think you’d be happy here. And perhaps even happy with me.”

Also, we cannot forget about Kas! She’s absolutely phenomenal and I love her so much! We learn something about her backstory in this book and I’m so excited about this universe continuing to grow!

This is an arc review but all opinions are my own.

When I tell you I was HOOKED from the first chapter! I didn’t think this could top the previous book in the series but this is now my favourite book of Sarah’s!
Lilith is definitely one of my favourite fmc I’ve read in a longgg time. She’s truly a morally grey fmc that has no shame in who she was and what made it even better was how much lucifer loved it too.
I honestly couldn’t stop reading, it had everything you’d want in a demon romance.
This had so many funny moments too I couldn’t stop smiling and giggling like an idiot.
The side characters were amazing too and I hope we get books on them all.
This book was so beautifully paced and although it’s technically a slower/medium burn book it didn’t even feel like it because I was invested in the story.

This is more like a prequel to Charming Your Dad (Book 1 in the series, which I absolutely loved), as most of it takes place before that book.

I was intrigued by the first couple of chapters (Lilith is introduced as a college student who finds herself meting out revenge on behalf of women scorned, love that for her), but then the pacing slowed/got uneven once she met Lucifer. He did a lot of stuff for her own good/protection (not my favourite source of conflict), and it ended up being a slow burn (which is NOT what I expect from a Sarah Blue book).

There were parts I really liked (Lucifer was unexpectedly like a puppy dog for Lilith, and Lilith’s cat made me laugh) but I wish there was more focus on their relationship, and less on all the external plot.

Overall, I liked it but probably would have liked it more if I hadn’t been expecting a story with the same vibes as Charming Your Dad.

3 Hellfire Stars

✔️ Dual POV (Lucifer x Lilith)
✔️ Fantasy romance set in hell
✔️ Slow burn
✔️ Tropes: Fated mates

I expected way more heat after the first book in this series. Who knew the devil himself needed a long courtship. This was fun, well written, and worth the time to read it. It just didn’t have the same suspenseful and spicy vibes as the earlier book since the mystery was essentially solved in the first book. This novel is set in the same timeline, but shows the story from Lucifer and Liliths’ POVs.

3.5 stars The first half was a huge drag - I probably would have DNFd if it weren’t on audio and I had a ton of cleaning to do today. The second half picked up but by then I was put off/not invested. I also felt very little chemistry between the MCs. Overall, this one didn’t live up to the first book for me (which I really enjoyed and think about often). Hoping book 3 is a winner.

What I loved about Charming Your Dad (book 1) was that it was a fun time, didn't take itself too seriously, and was spicy.
This second book in the series took itself way too seriously, wasn't spicy, and I didn't have a fun time. I was mostly very confused about what was going on and why I should care.
