I left her once to keep her safe from my world, but now I need someone I can trust to watch my son.
Running with this syndicate, I've learned to keep my emotions in check. Compartmentalized. But when Bria walks back into my life, everything comes flooding back—every memory, every kiss. Having her so close to the dangers of my reality is selfish, but my kid comes first.
Keeping my distance is critical. It’s also impossible.
Bria
I never expected to come face to face with Lucky again. Not like this. But he's a single dad now, offering me a job he knows I can’t refuse. I try to keep things professional, but it doesn’t take long for old feelings to resurface.
Resisting him is essential. It’s the one thing I’ve never been able to do.
Lucky Strike is a steamy, dark Irish mob romance. Second-chance, m/f, single dad/nanny. It's the first book of the Gangland Hearts trilogy. Recommended for mature audiences.
Born and raised in the sunny US Virgin Islands, Rochelle Allison has been making up stories since she was a little girl. Nowadays, Rochelle lives just outside of Atlanta with her one true love and their kids. When she’s not writing, she's reading, hiking, swimming, having coffee with friends, playing word games or taking pictures. She can almost always be found with a book…and, often, chocolate.

This a wholly different type of m@fia romance than I’m accustomed to and I loved it! Lucky and Bria’s story goes seamlessly back and forth between the past and present. Bria is best friends with Lucky’s younger sister. The pair have a past from high school days that left heart’s feeling some big things. As adults they are brought back into each other’s lives in close proximity. Bria isn’t aware for awhile of Lucky and his family’s involvement in organized crime. She becomes his live-in nanny for his adorable 4 year old son. The pace is even, nothing is rushed. I love this author’s unique storytelling style. I love the way the m@fia members weren’t caricatures, they are likable characters who love their family and “friends”. The men aren’t portrayed as overbearing, cutthroat characters…. Until it’s a must. The women are treated well, they have a say in things. Dare I say….equals? This made it such a unique, fresh m@fia romance. Lucky and Bria stole my heart as did Lucky’s son, Liam. It’s a very mature, intelligent and beautiful romance. I love the subtlety of Lucky’s wooing style. It left a bit of room for wondering what he’s thinking, yet it showed his care and consideration. There were some very quietly romantic moments that had me swooning. The story is engaging and the writing is beautiful. If you’re looking for something different, this is it! I highly recommend this heartfelt, grey story with incredibly likable characters and a full storyline.
First book from this author for me and it was definitely a good read.
I loved the characters, the relationships and the banter and I loved the backstory you got from when the MMC & FMC were younger. I feel that really helped to get more of a view on the characters.
A really well written Irish mob love story.
I felt at first it was hard to get into, there was a lot of detail around the scenarios and the people, the who’s who and what’s what that confused me a bit but that settled throughout reading it and you understood a lot more as the story unfolded.
I did feel there was something missing with this, I just can’t work out what. The overall plot was good and the relationship was amazing. I loved Lucky and Bria and seeing them grow.
This is a perfect fit for readers who crave a steamy, dark Irish mob romance with a second-chance love story, single dad and nanny trope, and a strong focus on themes of loyalty, trust, and the complexities of the human heart.
Bria is back in Boston and instead of meeting her best friend since boarding school to celebrate her return, she needs to let off steam. The reason she was back in Boston was an au pair position. She was supposed to start next week, but the family at the last minute decided to move to Madrid for the husband's job. In the meantime she has no income until something else comes along.
When she tells Maeve that she really doesn't want to return to New York Maeve tells her she may have something for her. She knows a single dad who needs a live-in nanny for his four-year-old son. His parents aren't able to help out as much due to his father's health.
The next day she meets with the house manager who seems impressed with her credentials and as they are finishing up she tells her she'll make an appointment to meet Mr. Kelly and his son. As she is taking in the name Kelly a deep voice calls from above telling Nora that Bria just won't do.
Bria heads for the door beyond embarrassed and mortified. How could Maeve do this to her? She could have warned her that the single dad was her oldest brother. Her ex-boyfriend.
I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. This is the first time I have read anything by Rochelle Allison and she totally immersed me in the lives of this extended family.
Conlan "Lucky" Kelly had left Bria nine years ago because he didn't want her involved in his family business. But despite that being even more true now he knows she is the only one he can trust with his son Liam.
This second-chance mafia romance is action-packed, full of danger smoking hot. It will warm your heart and bring you to tears. I can't wait for Tristan's story. Highly recommend!
Sometimes a memory becomes a lifetime present. When Bria needs a new position, a bit of the past presents a welcome opportunity. Will more than employment fill the bill or is there something more Romantic on the streets of Boston. If you enjoy East Coast tales of organized family business Lucky Strike will fit the bill for you!
From the first few pages of this book you know two things:
One, it’s going to be romantic. This quote from Romeo and Juliet sets the mood: “Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs”. That image is so lovely!
Two, it’s going to be a fast-paced adventure. The prologue lets you know that our hero, Lucky, is the son of the current head of this mafia family and is set to inherit that title. Lucky is also a single dad to an adorable four year old boy.
The heroine, “Bria from the Bronx”, as her best friend calls her is trying to make her way up in the world, but family issues has brought her back to Boston and forced her to put off finishing college. Soon, she and Lucky cross paths. I’d love to tell you that they took one look and fell into each other’s arms but I’d be lying. There was yelling, then insults, then more yelling and some excellent, angry banter. It was marvelous!
I don’t want to give anything away, but I will tell you that I fell in love with these characters and was rooting for them from the beginning. The story was romantic, and scary and funny and nail-bitingly suspenseful. Also, the banter was smart and on-point and that is always my favorite thing. I hope you read it and I hope you start reading “Lucky Strike” when you have time to savor it as you won’t want to put it down!
I love Rochelle Allison’s writing. I’ve been a fan for years and have read everything she’s written. Lucky Strike might be a departure given the mafia story line, but what makes her books so special is still shining through in this book like all her others. She has a way with writing romance, especially young love, that just resonates as so REAL with me. I feel all her heroine’s emotions so deeply, like I’m remembering my own. I loved this book and can’t wait for the rest in the series.
This is a new to me author and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. So much so that I definitely plan to read the next in the series. Lucky is a member of the Irish mob or syndicate. Bria is his sister's best friend plus they also have some history too. He reluctantly hires her as the nanny for his 4 year old son. There is quite a bit of action in this one. I don't read a ton of mafia romance but the details seemed very well thought out and written. The concerns Lucky has about starting a relationship are very understandable but Bria and him just seem inevitable. The book does a bit of jumping back to the past but the chapters are well placed and add well to the character and plot development. Liam adds nicely to the story and we, along with Bria, quickly fall in love with him. At times, his speech and/or thoughts seem more advanced for his age but not enough to draw one out of the story. There is maybe a little less spice than I usually read but this is more plot driven and the spice is good where we get it.
I loved this book! It tells the story of Bria and Lucky. Bria is Lucky’s sister’s bestie. It’s a friends to lovers to strangers to boss/nanny to lovers romance 😂 I loved their story and their history. Rochelle was so good at telling the story of their past and showing how it linked to the present. I also really liked that it was truly a mafia book. A lot of times I feel like books are marketed as a mafia romance simply because the MMC is in the mafia but it’s a smutty romance…while I love me some smut, I truly enjoyed how this book detailed the inner workings of the mafia and it was a very strong part of the storyline.
I’m so excited to read book two, Tristan’s book as soon as it releases. I know I’m jumping the gun here BUT I absolutely fell in love with little Liam and I would love to see HIS book…maybe a next gen series!
This was definitely not what I expected from a mafia story, but it was fantastic. I enjoyed the tense banter between Bria and Lucky as they were really trying to avoid their feelings. It was suspenseful and fun at moments that kept me turning the pages and wanting more.
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily leave this review.
Loved this! Great characters I fell in love with, and feel good rooting for. Thrilling storyline and a deep romance that refreshingly doesn’t follow the typical romance book tropes. Plus beautifully written! I knew Rochelle would deliver! Can’t wait for the next in the series too!
I have been following this author for awhile. This story is a departure from her typical genre and writing style. I absolutely enjoyed the story of Lucky and Bria! It's what you would expect from a mafia romance but with heart. I'm happy that the FMC was not a wallflower and the MMC was not a complete alpha-hole.
Advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review
I have never read this author before, but I can tell you that I will be reading the next in the series! I absolutely adored this book! It was so easy to get into! It has wonderful characters with a developed storyline. It goes from past to present pretty clearly. The book follows Lucky (Conlan) and Bria. Bria is from the Bronx and has been best friends with Lucky’s younger sister Maeve since boarding school. Lucky is being groomed to become the head of his family for the syndicate. Lucky and Bria have a history, but Bria is unaware of what Lucky’s family really does. The pair haven’t seen one another in years, but Lucky needs a nanny for his young son, Liam and Bria needs a job. Eventually, much to Conlan’s dismay, Bria finds out about the inner workings of the Kelly family. I haven’t read tons of m@fia romance, but the details were well thought out and explained. There is some action in this book as well. The one thing I enjoyed is that the men were just normal people and the violence only erupted when warranted. The women were treated well, educated and their opinions counted. The book wasn’t as spicy as others that I have read, however it was still full of romantic moments. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
Holy wow!! What a story!! Sexy, romantic, and just a damn good story. Lucky is a guy any girl would be happy to have and love. Smart, sexy, loyal!! Oh my! Great read. 10/10 recommend.
I was lucky enough (no pun intended) to receive this book as an ARC. It pulled me in immediately! I felt like I was watching a really good TV show. I liked the characters from the moment they’re introduced. The writing is great and characters are introduced without droning on and on. There are a lot of side characters but it doesn’t get too bogged down with unnecessary details. Loved it!
From the beginning I was rooting for Bria and Lucky 😭 from the teenage interaction I was rooting for them! 🫶🏾
One of the many reasons I enjoy Rochelle’s books so much is her masterful talent at making her characters and their relationships so authentic. The way I genuinely care about each character. I felt so drawn into their world and went through all the emotions along with them. I loved Lucky and Bria and Liam was adorable! I immensely enjoyed their story and finished the book in a day and a half (would have been less if not for my pesky job 🙄). I can’t wait for Tristan’s story!
I received an advanced copy of Rochelle Allison's book and let me tell you, this is such a different shade from your typical mafia story. Lucky and Bria have a history that melts your heart and gives you emotional damage. Now, years later, they are in each other's lives once again, and the flame still burns, along with the firey banter. Ouch! I enjoyed reading about their journey and the world that Allison has created as an author. This is a great start to a new series. I look forward to the next book to come.
I'm really into Mafia books at the moment and I really liked this one. Conlan (Lucky) is the oldest son of the Irish Mafia family, the Kelly's. Bria is Lucky's little sisters best friend. They initially meet at Maeve's 16th birthday and are together for a few months before Lucky goes to Belfast. They meet again, years later, when Maeve sets Bria up for a job interview...as Lucky's nanny for his 5 year old son, Liam. Lucky has pushed Bria away; she never understood why and it takes a lot for her to trust him, especially with how he reacts when they first see each other. I really like Lucky; his dedication to his family is heartwarming and Liam is gorgeous. I'm really looking forward to Tristan's book. Highly recommended!
Okay, I understand the hype around Mafia Romances now.
Never thought I'd be a woman who was simping over mobsters, but if a man doesn't eat me like an entree AND shoot a dude in the kneecaps to avenge me, I don't want him.
The dual timeline is so well done and means that we got twice the delicious, tense slowburn.
Can't wait for the next book!

I’ve been reading Rochelle’s work for years and this did not disappoint! It’s a little different as it deals with the mafia, but it’s awesome. Rochelle has a way with her words when it comes to romance and it makes my reading time so enjoyable. This book was suspenseful but worth it in the end. Such an enjoyable ending.

I enjoyed watching the love story unfold between Lucky and Bria. They had some rough patches in the beginning but loved each other enough to work through them. Liam was a sweetheart, too! Looking forward to book 2.
Conlan “Lucky” Kelly and Bria Grant had a short but steamy relationship as teenagers. Time and distance separate them when “Lucky” leaves for college in Ireland and pushes Bria away for her safety. Its been years since they last saw each other when Maeve (Lucky’s sister and Bria’s best friend) suggest a nanny position to Liam (Lucky’s 4 year old son) without telling either of them about the other. Needless to say their reunion does not initially go well. Ultimately Bria takes the live in nanny job and comes to not only fall in love with Lucky all over again, but also finally comes to realize that Lucky and his family have a huge secret… They are one of the 5 mafia families that make up the Saoirse Syndicate.
This book was fantastic. It was all the things at once. I don’t want to go into too much detail but the second chance was a slow burn with a rewarding resolution and Liam is the cutest you can’t help but fall in love with him. Lucky is conflicted and even though this book as dark elements and Lucky is what you would probably consider a grey character, you really get a sense that his duty is to family much more that to the syndicate. This is my first book by this author but ti will not be my last. I can’t wait for the next installment in the series.
Thanks Indie Pen Pr for the ARC and the opportunity to read this book. It was great!
I loved Lucky (Conlan) and Bria's story. They were friends, then boyfriends and girlfriends in college. Then Lucky had to go away to Ireland, and they lost touch. Lucky found someone else and had a son, Liam, with her. Now, he is a single dad and looking for a nanny. Bria's best friend Maeve, who is also Lucky's sister, tells Bria she knows someone who is looking for a nanny. Bria turns up and is interviewed by the house manager, Nola, and Nola pretty much confirms she's the perfect person for the job but just has to run it past her boss. On the way, she accidentally meets the boss, and it turns out to be Lucky, and he tells her she's not suitable for the job. Later, due to pressure from Nola and Maeve, along with no one else that applied was suitable he rethinks his decision and hires Bria. I received an arc for NN Book Blog for my voluntary honest review for NN Book Blog. If you love a fast-paced mafia romance with lots of twists and turns that you don't see coming you will love this book. Allison is a new to me author and I will be reading more of her books since I loved this one so much.

〉Before Reading: Lucky needs someone he trusts to watch his child. Bria walks back into his life. Will they be able to keep it professional or will old feelings arise?
〉What I Liked: 🌷 okay but when they first meet each other.. How cute! 🪴 when they see each other again after their falling out, she doesn't allow herself to get walked all over.
〉What I Didn’t Like: 🌷 they didn't communicate as much. 🪴 I was hoping for more insight into their relationship, seemed a bit rushed - they kept their distanced, she found out what he really did, they made love and then that was it.🤷🏻♀️
〉Overall: I really thought this book was going to be a big hit for me when I first started reading it. I just would have liked a little more from their relationship. It is a good read though!

This was my first time reading this author's work and I was very pleased. I usually do not read Mafia themed romance novels, however, Ms Allison successfully used the back drop of organized crime to weave a tale of 2 individuals learning to trust themselves and each other. This story was warm, suspenseful and occasionally emotional. I cheered when Lucky finally acknowledged his feelings for Bria and again when they finally began the walk to HEA. I even rooted for their dogs. Overall, this is a sweet book that deserves its 5 stars and I will be checking this author's other books in the near future.
Lucky Strike is an Irish mafia romance that follows Lucky a member of the Irish syndicate and he hires Bria his sister's best friend to be a nanny for his four year old son. Lucky and Bria have some past history which they are obviously meant to be, but will they finally have their second chance or are they going to avoid their feelings for each other? I loved this story from the main characters as well as the side characters and how the story gives us some background into the mafia business. I was completely invested. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I recommend reading this story and be prepared to not want to put it down.
Without fail, Rochelle is going to put me through the emotional wringer with her stories. I had all the feels with this one. I go weak for a single dad who loves so hard, and Lucky definitely fit the bill.
Bria and Lucky may have shared a past, but their reconnection wasn't all sunshine and roses, instalove. There was a slow burn here, but once they gave in and stopped denying the possibility of more, it was oh so good. I was on the edge of my seat for like the entirety of the final third of this book and cannot wait to get to read Tristan's story.
This is my first time reading Rochelle Allison’s book but it definitely will not be my last. There were times I couldn’t wait to read about Lucky, Bria and Liam. I don’t normally read mafia story lines but this was the exception for me. Lucky and Bria met years ago, Bria being Lucky’s sister’s best friend. I really love how the author included Liam as one of the main characters he really made the story. Lucky was looking for someone to care for Liam but he got so much more. This book has some spice, plenty of action and most of all ride or die love. I highly recommend this book.
🍀 Nanny x Single Dad 🍀 Forced proximity 🍀 Different worlds 🍀 Second chance 🍀 Irish mafia romance
Anyone that knows me knows that the minute the single Dad x Nanny trope is mentioned I will devour that book like a vampire during shark week!! And let me tell you, this one did not disappoint, I loved the added mafia element to the story, that was very different from your usual mafia books as it’s hidden from the FMC for quite some time and the men not being the typical alphahole mafia men from the get go.
Honestly just give this one a read, it was really good.
