When Sophie is asked to make a video on True Match to show the world this new method of finding your partner, she is ecstatic. Everyone knows about the alien creative matchmaking system. It's not guaranteed to get you an alien mate, but it does guarantee that whoever it does match you to will be your soulmate. This will surely be the peak of her influencer career. At least, that's what she thinks, until she herself is mated to an alien. Her career is about to get a whole lot better.

Serval is a hard hitting investigating journalist in Coalition space. He follows only big stories, and reports from the battlefield if he must. However, he is occasionally bullied by his boss into doing fluff pieces. Including one a long time ago about some scanner that was supposed to have something to do with mating. He hadn't really thought about it since it published, but it's suddenly come back in the form of a message informing him that he now has a mate. A human mate, no less. His life is about to get a whole lot harder.

Mated on Live is a standalone MF romance that takes place in as part of a greater universe. There is no need to read any other books for backstory. There is no need to read the True Match series in order.

I liked the beginning, I liked the end, the boring was rather boring and utopia-ish -- like wow everything is soooo amazing, exciting, and new and my mate is sooo great -- which just got annoying because it felt like it was going to go on forever. But the last few chapters brought it all together and I do want to read the next book to see that couple. So, obviously I didn't dislike the writing style, it was just a bit too long-winded for me.

Perfect if you're looking for some fluff and sweetness!

I’ve officially read all of Talia Rhea’s published books, and what a fun ride it’s been! From the very first Mates of the Domini book, Savior of the Domini, I was completely hooked. One of my favorite things about Rhea’s writing is how she weaves real science into her stories — it’s fiction, sure, but she makes you wonder if maybe, just maybe, it could happen in real life. I can't wait to see what she brings us next!

Great beginning to this series

I loved this alien human, arranged mating sci-fi romance. It had a great mix of sweet, spicy, light danger, real life issues, and good world building. Sophie and Serval are portrayed as real, relatable people who have flaws, but are really just trying to do their best as messy beings. Sophie is an energetic and friendly human social influencer with her main focus being desserts, cooking, makeup, and fashion. She films an episode about True Match, the new matchmaking service which matches soulmates, as the first human scanned other than the handful involved in the experiments on the moon. She understands that a match could be another species or her match might not be in the database. Serval is an aquatic alien, an allowee from the planet Wav’aii and an investigative journalist for the Coalition. He lives on his own spaceship and travels the galaxy for stories. Serval was scanned and put into the True Match system several years ago as part of a different story. True Match matches Sophie with Serval. They both agree to the match, Sophie agrees to leave earth, and they both agree to provide marketing material for True Match. I loved how Sophie and Serval’s relationship developed organically and naturally as they spent time together so even though the computer said they were soulmates and Serval’s mating instinct was triggered, their love and friendship developed over time. What follows the initial match, is a wonderful journey of baggage unpacking, missteps, inner voice finding, and life course correction. While there was angst to move the story, this is not overly angsty. The story was well written and included engaging dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and a captivating storyline all woven into superb world building with sweet moments, spicy scenes, alien physiology and cultures, bad guys, science, plot twists, big feels, and laughs. This is a standalone with and HEA. You do not have to read the other series in this universe to read this one but do yourself a favor and read them as they’re just as good as this story. 4.5 stars.

This book was definitely hard for me. I really didn’t like the female main character. I felt like she was very vapid and vain. She just reminded me of one of those girls that is always on her phone must record. Everything has to take a picture of every meal before she eats it and is never fully present because her nose is always in her phone. Don’t get me wrong. I feel like the author clearly love these characters and did justice by them but still very annoying. Love this author though. Still gave the book 4 stars. I feel like this author does a great job of making her characters actually talk instead of just having dumb drama, which was a huge saver in this book. There was no third act break up just evening of the relationship and understanding of one another. Also, the spice in this book is just awesome. This author is always just been really great at writing good romantic passionate spice with that monster, alien, hot, uniqueness, wink wink!

A triumphant return!!

A great beginning to this series! We follow Sophie and Serval as the first couple matched by the brand new mate matching program developed at the end of the last series. Although I would agree that this works just fine as a standalone, I think the richness of the series comes from the history and world building the author has done thus far. But if going through all of the books is a bit daunting, you won’t miss anything by starting here. I loved the blending of cultures, the realism in the couple’s interactions, arguments, and falling in love, and of course, the couple itself. Sophie and Serval were easy to fall in love with, together and as individuals. The book reads like a contemporary romance but in space and with aliens. Love that we have a Latina in space!

it was very good

Sophie is not my favorite. I struggled with her often throughout this book because she was almost purposefully ignorant. She didn’t ask about things. Yes he could be more forthcoming but she should have dug in deeper. Also she was too high handed and had expected more human responses. So another layer I struggled with. She should have been trying to understand his culture more while giving him info on hers. She seems only just aware at humanities weakness in the larger scheme things. So that really annoyed me.

But these annoyances were slightly addressed later but not all were. She was still a fully fleshed out character just an annoying one. Which if that’s my only complaint it’s a fantastic book. Low angst

just love this book

Talia is one of my favorite authors. She has a way of creating a new universe and makes you fall in love with the characters. I loved how in this book she wrote about culture and how sometimes one feels like they have to deny their culture to be accepted. She did such a wonderful job showing that one’s culture shouldn’t be hidden away. Once again the Spivey scenes were great and can’t wait for the rest of the series to come out.

Loved this book. I haven’t read a book based on an influencer yet and this seemed very accurate. I would whole heartedly believe you if you said the Author was an influencer herself.

I also loved that we got to fully see the family of one of the aliens in TaliaVerse.

Plus we get to see the difference between someone who loves their culture and someone who is trying desperately to escape theirs.

Overall well written as always. 10/10 would recommend.

I love the universe Talia has created. I love that we see species from other series popping up still and that this whole series is based on the technology that was created in the lunar experiments, which happened as a result of the domini series. Just so good. I don’t love the whole influencer thing in this book. Just not my thing, which is why i didn’t rate it a bit higher, but absolutely reading the next one.

Love!

Loved this book! Introducing a new species was gold and made it stand out on its own compared to the Domini & Lunar Base series.

Only thing I would have love more was another Epilogue further in the future / with their rei - can imagine the cuteness overload :)

Picked this one up because I had read the previous series which I enjoyed. However I couldn’t connect with the characters here. I don’t love influencers particularly, and both of these characters seemed vapid to me. DNF

fun, sweet sci-fi romance, set in the same universe as the Domini series. This is a light, easy read for fans of the sci-fi dating ageny troupe and weird alien peen.

I enjoyed this alien romance. In the previous series, aliens and humans discovered a way to scan for your soulmate, your True Match. They were both scanned and are a match.

He is a water alien with fins, shark teeth, head tentacles, and "downstairs" tentacles.

She is human and excited to have a soul mate. He is a reporter and she makes social media videos about her desserts and her life.

I liked how they got to know each other. When they were intimate, those scenes were very steamy and graphic. His tentacles gently sting her in intimate places.
