9 books864 followersNeil Hilborn is a College National Poetry Slam Champion, and a 2011 graduate with honors from Macalester College with a degree in Creative Writing. Neil was a member of the 2011 Macalester Poetry Slam team, which ranked first in the nation. He co-coached the 2012 Macalester team, leading them to a second place finish nationally. He was also a member of the Minneapolis adult National Poetry Slam team in 2011, which placed 5th out of 80 teams from cities across the country at the adult National Poetry Slam. In August of 2013, his poem "OCD" went viral, garnering over 7 million views to date, making it one of the most-viewed poems on YouTube.

There’s a special kind of magic that happens when Neil writes a book. The loneliness that has you seeking a good book to begin with fades into an evening on an emotional roller coaster with a close friend. This book will make you feel many things, but most importantly it will make you feel less alone in the world.
If you ever tell Neil I said this next bit, I’ll deny it which I can easily do because I’m just a random reader. Neil is hilarious. I’m serious. Wear a diaper while you read this and have the tissues within reach. You are going to laugh until you pee, ugly cry, happy cry, and hug every soft thing in your home. The whole poet gig may be him disguising a double life as a stand up comedian. I mean it though, don’t tell him I said that because the silliness that will ensue will surpass the allotted level of silly and who knows what that means.
Neil’s unique voice makes every poem easy to read, as in you don’t have to think too hard, but also they make you think. It’s the right amount of thinking.
To tie it all neatly in a bow, buy the book. The special edition has an extra sparkle to it. You won’t regret adding this to your collection. If your bookshelf is already full, go buy another one.
