Just when Claudia thought she'd come out on top, she's slammed with ominous dreams and a troubling Raul, one of her most prominent clients when she was a sex worker, has arrived at the academy! In her previous life, he offered to pay off her debts and free her from the brothel, but this time, he may be the mastermind fanning the flames of international conflict. Claudia's prepared to bring her tricks of the trade to the political stage--and she'll have Raul dancing in the palm of her hand in no time!
I really enjoyed this one. I thought it would be difficult to follow up the first volume, since the main story arc of the romance was successfully resolved, what could provide the tension in this one? Plenty it turns out and it worked well.
My favorite part was Claudia going to the brothel to try to make life easier and better for her prior “sisters”. I hope they all live happy, long, fulfilling lives!
4, I can’t wait to see how she helps them, stars!

I think this volume was a fantastic follow-up to the previous volume. Now that the struggles with her half sister are fully resolved, Dee is finding herself mixed in a whole new world of politics and past life regrets. As you start to get a little more of a glimpse into her previous life's history, you get to see how much more she grows as she increases the influence of those she wants to protect. The new cast of characters are a wonderful addition to the crew, and I thoroughly enjoyed the teasers in the end chapters. I'm greatly looking forward to reading the next book, I hope we get to see her get her hands into more of the business of her former brothel. I'd like to see how many people she can save, I also enjoy seeing how well she lives her life with her friends, family, and beloved.
In book 1 I honestly didn't really see why Sylvester was quickly her love interest. I didn't think it was well developed but for book 1 it was enough, to me the romance wasn't of main importance. However book 2 was just... plain. The relationship between Claudia and Sylvester was still underdeveloped to me, they're just horny teenagers... which just put me off because I found the romance so lacking that the abundance of 'lust' was annoying 😂.
Introduced a second male character just for him to have no impact on the romance at all... And worst is I liked Raul! I felt his character was more developed than Sylvester. Because of that I could understand the reason for romance to blossom. But he was never a real contender. It was clear from the start so there was no triangle or v shape or anything...
Also so little happens in book 2 like it was dragged out and then concluded without issue 🤷🏼♀️
And lastly ☝️ so much politics about kingdom a and b but it was just long paragraphs that at some point didn't make too much sense as it a bit of a info dump.
The synopsis for book 3 makes me curious... not going to lie.. what do you mean crime syndicate? But I don't have high hopes.

This is an excellent follow up to the first novel. Claudia was able to forge a new path in the previous book and her present life is much more promising. However there is trouble brewing in a neighboring kingdom and it spills over to Claudia’s. A prince from the neighboring kingdom arrives and it turns out he is someone she was acquainted with in her previous life. Now the problems that follow him cause trouble for Claudia’s (official-but-unofficial-to-the-public) fiancé and she is drawn into the plot as well. Claudia’s issues were more familial in the last volume, but this time someone else from her past is bringing troubles her way. There is a good mix of elements here as most of the plot revolves around the situation surrounding the prince from the other kingdom, but those problems could pose a threat to Claudia’s desired future. It is a very entertaining story with Claudia forging new and stronger bonds with the people around her. I am looking forward to whatever the next volume will bring (who knows what new challenges and adventures the author has planned). Also, get that kitten more fresh fish, Prince Sylvester.
Wasn’t as interested in this one. Looking back, it feels like nothing actually happened except get Raul established as a ongoing character. Actually, yeah, this just felt like an introduction chapter to the various characters that will later show up in the series.
Obviously, political stuff and character growth happened, so it wasn’t a total waste of time, but it just felt “meh”. On the other hand, the first bonus chapter is making me super excited for the next book! That one is gonna be fun (I hope).
Side note: Raul may have stolen my heart, for a moment, but Sylvester is where the true emotions and partnership lay. 100% agree that him and Claudia should just tie the knot now and disregard tradition!

I'd give it a 4.5 if possible. There were a few scenes that made me knock it down a smidge, but otherwise the entire book is fantastic and looking forward to the next
Can’t get into how the MC thinks her being forced into life as a sex worker against her will was an appropriate penance for being a bit of a shitty person. 👎🏼
