The story evolves over a nine day period from the 1st November 1918.
The opening prologue introduces us to he who proves to be the hero of this tale. Herr G. Hoehner, a member of the Berlin Police, Robbery Büro, who has his own story to tell. This can only be learnt by pursuing this excellently written tale.
Paul weaves an intricate, engaging tale, making it difficult to put down. Is it gothic horror; is it a tale of the occult, or is the mythos of Cthulhu’s influence being felt in the chaos of Germany, as World war one crawls to an inevitable and costly end?
Highly recommend Five stars. I look forward to Volume 2.
A great read, with beleaguered detective Hoehner a marvellous main character taking on several interweaving cases in 1918 Berlin. Full of neat period detail and well paced throughout. Turns towards pulp near the end (but there are references early on it might go that way). Pleased to hear there will be more!
