“Technically, the continent is doomed if you can’t figure out how to work together…the good news is there’s no way for the Compass Points to trust each other less than they currently do.” -- Arie
Before the Compass Points can confront a god, Rose will unite them the only way she knows how: through their magic.
To forge her weapons is to know the heart of the wielder. Uncovering the secrets that have plagued the fae courts longer than the mist will not be an easy task. But it may be simpler than predicting how her magic entwines with the Suden Point’s unprecedented power—and the growing bond between them.
Tangled Power is the second book in the Compass Points series.
This is an arc review – thank you to BookFunnel, the publisher, and the author as always, extremely grateful for these opportunities!
“You’ll find me, my love.”
Tangled Power by Jillian Witt is Book 2 in the larger Compass Points universe and continues the story of its small but engaging cast of characters. FMC Rose, our trusty and important weapons master, is still the most main character of the story, however, this time around, we also get some POV chapters from our fae MMC Luc, the Suden Point of its court. Also still on the adventure is Arie, the not-so-mysterious-anymore animal shifter companion to Rose. He’s now revealed himself to be who he is (), and his story, and his love for fellow god Aurora, play a role in this book. The plague of mist, as it travels and ravages villages, leaving all, or almost all, who enter its gripping darkness in an endless sleep, as good as dead, is still an ever-present danger, but not the only one, and maybe not even the worst one.
Aterra, a rogue god, is the ultimate villain of the series, and this continues in Book 2. To remind readers of the Compass Points and their gods:
The Norden, or north, Court, led by the Norden Point, who worship the god Aurora. The Suden, or south, Court, led by the Suden Point, who worship the god Aterra. The Osten, or east, Court, led by the Osten Point, who worship the lost god Zrak. The Vesten, or west, Court, led by the Vesten Point, who worship the god Arctos.
The cast of characters expands to include a feature focus on the other Compass Points, aside from Rose and Luc. They are Juliette of the Osten court, and Carter of the Vesten court. The Compass Points must learn to work together, both their own personalities and their powers, to defeat an old evil and save the world as they know it.
Jillian Witt’s writing continues to be above the bar, able to seamlessly drop us into a fantasy world and build the environment around us without feeling too tell-vs-show. There were some chapters that used telling as a crutch somewhat, but thankfully not so often, and it didn’t detract from the overall positive experience. I still wouldn’t consider this an epic or high fantasy; this a super digestible read, and quicker than most fantasy books.
This is also a true romantasy, and the romantic relationship between MCs Rose and Luc continues to evolve in Book 2. Already they are “together”, their journey with the other Compass Points takes much of their time, as it should, so they are forced to find only short moments of intimacy where they can, and it’s sweet when they do. They support each other so much, it’s so clear to see.
BUT THAT ENDING?! How could you, Jillian Witt? I mean, I love all the angst and tension and Rose is for sure going to have an epic rescue moment, but STILLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
After that cliffhanger ending, hopefully Book 3 is in the pipeline, and I will definitely be checking it out!
Oh my gosh, I am totally in on this fantasy series! I love the FMC and her BA forge working, magical weapon making self. I love that she turns everything the Compass Points thought they knew on their head. She came to change things, and she worked towards it, didn’t just expect things to happen. I love that we got more into the magic and the how and why’s of this world in this book. It reeled me in further than I was last time. I adore this series!
Rose is not sure why her passing of the Norden Point test was covered up, but she is ready to claim her spot as the leader of her people. She ran off the god that was inhabiting the guy that claimed he was the Norden Point, but now they have to chase him down and defeat him. The gods set it up so the Compass Points will be able to keep them in check with their magic working together. But it’s never been done, and the different factions have 500 years of distrust between them.
Thank you to Literary Media Tours for the copy, all thoughts are my own.
4.5⭐️ (rounded up) Goodness I adore this series. The world is vibrant, beautifully written and easy to visualize. I have a few favorite pieces to this book. First, the unique magic system that bases itself in the elements. Book 2 in this series delves even further into explaining the magic and history of this world and it is fantastically done. My second favorite part of this book are the characters. More characters are added as key cast members. They create opportunity for awesome banter and enjoyable character arcs as they all learn to trust each other and themselves. Finally, the love story between Luc and Rose is just 10/10. I am not so patiently awaiting the next in this series.
Highlights: ✨Elemental Magic System ✨Forging Weapons Master FMC 🔥 ✨Dual POV ✨Found Family ✨Cynical Animal “side kick” ✨Supporting Cast Ensemble
Favorite Quotes: “She couldn’t wish things to be different. She needed to put the work in to make them so.”
“I don’t think that’s a choice we get to make. Just like we don’t get to choose who brings us into this world. But once we’re here, we can make the time and the gifts our own.”
“I don’t want you to make me a weapon. I want you to want to make me one. It would be a nice token of our friendship. Think of it as a violent friendship bracelet.”
Thank you to the author for this advanced copy. My opinions are my own.
Thank you NetGalley for the digital copy of this title.
Rose and Luc have made a lot of progress in uniting the Compass Points to take down Aterra. But they need more information and they need to behave more like a team and less like power-hungry individuals. As they track Aterra through the land, Rose learns more about her counterparts and their magic while making weapons for them and earning their trust.
The first book was pretty good, but this one was so sloooooowwwww. There was so much walking around and talking to people and evaluating magic. GAG. Jillian, this should have been a duology, girl. This book did not have enough substance to be its own thing. I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you will wrap this up well, but GEEZ. You just about lost me about 40% through this one. I only powered through because I ADORE Luc.
Great follow up to the Compass Points. Story continues with Rose and Luc and the other points. Such an easy read. Minimal romance (more a connection between Luc and Rose) and the magic is really unique to me, as are the world and the Gods. The characters develop more and as readers we got way more background into Luc and his childhood. This one does end on a cliffhanger but that just left me wanting the next one. I still call this cozy fantasy and the romance is there but it is not pivotal to the plot.
Definitely a good read . I received an e-arc from the author in exchanged for an honest review.
I was so happy to be back in the world of Compass Points! Compass Points, Book 1 in the series, was actually one of my first ARC reads. The book was a thrilling adventure that set the stage for the events in Tangled Power, Book 2. I was honoured to be chosen again to read and review this exciting sequel.
The unique elements that drew me in Book 1 are still present in Book 2, a testament to Jillian Witt's unmatched ability to create a fantasy narrative. If you're looking for a fantasy experience that piques your curiosity and stands out from the rest, the Compass Points series is a must-read.
The story's scenery is inspired by US National Parks, and it embodies not just the beauty of nature but its need to obtain and maintain the natural balance of things. This balance was disrupted by one of the gods, a rogue deity who seeks to upset the harmony of the world. The story's core is the quest to repair this balance, a task that falls on the leaders of the four fae courts, Compass Points.
The story of Tangled Power takes place immediately after the events of Compass Points. It takes us on a journey to find answers on how to fix the balance and defeat the rogue god, along with Rose, Luc, and the remaining two Compass Points.
The story in the sequel is perhaps more plot-driven than romance-driven, but that doesn't mean we don't get to witness the beauty of Rose and Luc's relationship. Jillian has managed to write two characters in a romantasy book with one of the healthiest relationships I've ever read. They communicate, share their thoughts, secrets, and fears, and truly understand and support each other. Even though the quest drives them, they always find time to share each other's burdens and provide support. And you can see that in the smallest gestures, like a look, a touch, or a simple word.
The magic system you will find here is like no other. It is elemental magic, but it is also almost an entity on its own. The four Compass Points, Rose, Luc, and the others, learn to wield these elements together, selflessly and without inhibitions. They must learn to trust each other and share, which is what this journey is about— not just defeating a god but healing the continent. The magic system is not just a tool for them but a reflection of their growth and unity.
And that ending, Jillian, I was devastated... I know I have to wait until Book 3, but like Luc and Arie, I am confident Rose will find a solution.
Gift yourself the Compass Point series and immerse yourself in this beautiful world of magic, love, and a journey of learning to trust yourself and others. I know you will love it as much as I do!
✨𝐀𝐑𝐂 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰✨ 📖: Tangled Power (Compass Points, Book 2) 🧭: Publication date: June 18, 2024
Tangled Power picks up following the events of this first book. This installment delves deeper into the history of the fae courts and the events following The Covenant. With the long history of mistrust sown deep among the fae courts, can the Compass Points work together to unite their magics and defeat the rogue god in time?
Tropes to expect: ✨ Dual POV 💫 His power scares everyone but her 💣 Hot Forging 😏 ✨ Opinionated Magic 🚙 "Get in losers. Let's go find a rogue god" 🗣️ Banter 🌶️: mild-moderate
In Tangled Power, we explore the elemental magic and secrets of each fae court. The storied history Rose is still learning presents a people divided instead of united and not what the gods had intended. Events of the past directly tie in to Rose and Luc’s intertwined paths. I loved seeing the trust slowly being built between them and the intimacy of their evolving relationship. And I can’t fail to mention the hot forging 🤭
We are treated to more hilarious and precious scenes between the characters as well as some surprising twists and a cliffhanger ending 🥲
Rose remains courageous and sassy and I’m cheering her on as she continues to forge her own path, figuratively and literally. Facing many unknowns, Rose is determined to claim what’s hers and I cannot wait for the next book!
Huge thanks to the author for the ARC opportunity! This is my honest and voluntary review.
A cozy fantasy adventure to save a continent? Sign me up! Tangled Power picks up after the events of Book 1 where the compass points have joined together to fight a rogue god who is responsible for the deathly mist plague sweeping the continent.
I loved this book so much and the adventure it took us on! Main characters Rose and Luc are fantastic and we learn so much about Luc’s past as we watch them problem solve and grow their own relationship. Also can we talk about Arie? I loved him as the animal sidekick we knew but now we get the full story. The remaining characters involved were also written so well and each had a prominent place in the story. What I enjoy most though is the very unique, elemental magic including scent. When this group joins together they are a force to be reckoned with. Can we please have book 3 right now?!
I love returning to the world of Compass Points! The worldbuilding is complex and delightful.
Arie is his delightful sassy self, and I loved learning more about him and his backstory!
Rose is no longer hiding her power and we get to see her use it over and over again with the other Compass Points! I love a strong and sassy FMC who can hold her own!
The tension between her and the Suden Point continues to sizzle, and I am here for it. We also get to learn a lot more about the other Compass Points, Luc in particular, and I love that the worldbuilding continues to grow and develop the story.
There are sooo many places the author can continue to take this series after THAT ending and I can’t wait to read what happens next!
I really enjoyed a book that feels cozy but isn’t lacking in the plot or action. And that’s what you’re going to get with this series! I’m always afraid to mention too much when it’s not the first book in a series bc I avoid spoilers. In the follow up to Compass Points, we get more Rose & Luc, more history, and more magic! There are more side characters and allies to help round out the story. Arie is still present and still bringing the banter. I definitely recommend this series and I cannot wait for the next book after that ending!
“Tangled Power”, is the second book in the Compass Points series by Jillian Witt filled with Gods, Fae and such a unique magic system.
Worldbuilding and Pacing: I was immediately pulled back into this incredible world very easily thanks to the great worldbuilding in book one. The story follows Rose as she comes into her own power and position, and together with the rest of the compass points, works to take down a God. In this book we get much more background into Luc’s upbringing and it’s really heartbreaking in parts and made me really understand why he is the way he is.
The overall pace of the book is quite slow as the Compass points go along their journey. At the start I was quite thankful for this as it made the amount of information being given digestible. However, not much had happened until the 75% mark which made it a little difficult for me to stay engaged at times. It really did pick up towards the end though and I couldn’t put it down!
Character Development: Rose continues to be an incredible character who is headstrong and powerful yet still so likable! I really enjoyed learning more about each of the Compass Points and their dynamic as a group was really interesting to see develop.
I still absolutely adore Luc and Rose’s relationship. Jillian writes adult relationships with difficult conversations, interactions and dynamics beautifully which makes the relationship feel that much more believable. What I also love about Jillian’s writing is that she doesn’t make the strong FMC turn into a puddle or question her motivations just because of the MMC - this is something I wish all authors would consider when writing characters like these. This book even explicitly has a conversation between Rose and Juliette about this which I loved!
Romantic Elements: I still absolutely adore Luc and Rose’s relationship and the on page romance was just perfect. Jillian writes adult relationships with difficult conversations, interactions and dynamics beautifully which makes the relationship feel that much more believable.
Conclusion: Overall, "Tangled Power" is a great sequel to “Compass Points” with strong worldbuilding, complex characters that navigate a range of emotions, and fantastic elements of romance. If you love plot-driven romantasy, with a unique magic system and elements of found family, then this series is definitely for you!
▸ personal thoughts below: Tangled Power continues straight from Compass Points (book 1) and I enjoyed the book! You see more development in Rose, but also in Luc and we get to see more of Luc's thoughts and history so that was fun! We also get to learn more about the other Compass Points and the gods and goddesses' history, which is important to the story.
I did feel that a lot of the book was traveling and learning so it wasn't as exciting as Compass Points. I also missed the constant bantering between Rose and Luc, and Rose and Arie. Then there were the fights, with the first one being pretty anti-climatic in my opinion. The "big" one was much better, but I did find it odd that it was basically like 7 against 1! 😲 And then!! The part AFTER the big fight, had my head in for a little spin. 😲 I don't think it came out of nowhere, but it also took me a bit of pondering before I accepted it. Also, it ends in a cliffhanger! I'm curious to see how the next book continues, especially due to how this book ended.
All in all, I did still enjoy the book and I'm invested in Rose and Luc! I hope the next book will have more of them in their bantering moments.
I received this as an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
TLDR: Though it wasn't the quickest pace, you still learned a lot about the other characters and I did enjoy it, and definitely want to read book 3!
I loved the first book however, the second just wasn't it.
In this installment of the book, it focuses on Luc's childhood and the corruption of the relations of the leadership. The MCs in this book are trying to get all the points to work together. However, whenever one point starts to talk the rest gas light her. The rest of the book kinda plays out like that. There was a huge plot and info drop in the beginning of the book and then nothing really happens until the very end of the book. There is some talk of what compass point can do, but it never gets corroborated until much later in the book.
I was really bored during this book, and the flashbacks weren't really noted so you had to hope you caught on in time. Overall the book just seemed messy and random things would happen or just dropped. It always felt like something wasn't missing or something wasn't being connected. The first book has this issue as well. Unfortunately, I could not find motivation to finish the third book in the series.
Book #2 in the series, and I loved it just as much as book #1… which was a debut novel!
Terrific world building. Terrific/Believable characters! Some very sad stories throughout, but it might just make you root for them all the more…
Very sad that once again, we are left with a cliff hanger in this book! 😮😳
Will be putting #3 on hold at my library next!
#TangledPower by @JillianWitt and narrated nicely by @MichaelGallagher and @KasiHollowell.
4 bright, shiny, beautiful, fae-stars for me! 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This picks up right after book 1, and we are thrown into a journey with our main characters. I obviously can't say a lot because we are in the middle of a fast-paced fantasy series. The charachter dynamics are so well developed, the pacing for me was perfect, it gave me Avatar the last airbender vibes, we get more steam in this installment, and lastly we have lots of action! There is no miscommunication, and the way the characters are so understanding of eachothers needs is so comforting.
I can't wait to see where this story goes and love that we get to be in this world longer. I thought it was only going to be a duology, but with this ending, there can only be more!!
Thank you again for the opportunity to read this early and if you want to dive into this series, book one is currently on KU, and Tangled Power will be released on June 18th and also available on KU.
An amazing second installment to the series!!! I devoured it in almost one sitting 🔥 I feel like we got SO much important information & backstory on all of the characters. I really enjoyed learning about the other compass points, luc's history, and the gods/creation of the fae & the compass point positions!
I loved the journey that Rose, Luc, and the other Compass Points had to go on & how they had to learn about one another in order to try to work together in order to try and stop the mist plague situation.
The progression of Luc & Rose's relationship is also the sweetest 🥹 I love them together!
The ending has me needing book 3 asap!!! 😭
***Thank you to the author for sending me a copy of this book!
Thank you to BoMM and Jillian Witt for my complimentary copy of Tangled Power. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Tangled Power is the exciting second installment of the Compass Points Series. The story picks up at the conclusion of book 1. It is best to read the series in order.
Tangled Power gives us much more backstory and character development. We learn about everyone’s magical abilities. Wind Water Earth Fire. Each fae is gifted with one element, or are they ? There is a tiny bit of mystery to keep you guessing until the end.
The main objective for The Compass Points is to learn how to work together to defeat a God. But there is so much doubt to overcome. Will they be able to trust one another ? It was nice seeing how Luc, Carter, Rose and Juliet worked for the good of the continent. Although it was a bit awkward with the budding Rose/Luc romance.
Elemental magic is my favorite and this entire series revolves around it. Nothing makes me happier than falling in love with a new fantasy series. I can only imagine what is in store in the chapter for The Compass Points. That Ending!!
This second book in the series was pretty good, though I enjoyed the first book more. Still, the growth of the Compass Points was an interesting journey to follow.
I enjoyed Luc's character, and he is probably my favorite of the group, with Rose and Arie tying for second and Juliette in third.
I also appreciated that the Lake of the Gods is pretty much Crater Lake, but with magic.
I liked what the author did with Aiden's character, except for the very end. I would have liked to see a different ending for him, but this one works for the narrative.
I'm not a fan of spice, and I could have done without the few scenes presented in this story, but otherwise, this was an enjoyable read.
The author kindly includes a link to a page with a summary from Book 1, which is so useful because this book starts right where the first ended. The Compass Points need to end the mist plague, stop a reckless god, and rebalance the magic of their continent.
I loved the way the characters grew toward each other, learning to leave behind their past assumptions about each other and becoming a team with a common goal. Rose and Luc are #couplegoals with the way they support each other, and the way their magic works together just adds to the delight. I very much enjoyed the way the magic in this world works and getting to learn more about each type as Rose worked on the magic weapons for each of the Compass Points. Of course, the quest is not yet complete at the end of the book so I will be eagerly awaiting a third look at this world when it comes.
Yeah, it’s taken me over 3 months to try and finish this book but sadly I can’t. I got over 50% the way through and it just didn’t hook me like the first one did which is such a shame because I LOVED the first book (5 stars)🥲
Loved seeing the relationship grow between Rose and Luc and the secrets that they were holding coming out. Their communication and overall consideration with feelings and the others needs is so refreshing is beautiful.
Excited for book 3. Because of that cliffhanger.. AHHH! I know it needed to happen and I'm excited to see how it all comes together in book 3.
Kasi Hollowell is another wonderful job with narrating. Voice were clear and each character was distinct.
Hmm, I donno, I think I need a break from romantasies. The magic system in this universe remains amazing, but I might need a break before I read the conclusion to this trilogy!
Jillian Witt’s Tangled Power, the second book in the Compass Points series, is a richly imagined sequel that deepens its world of elemental magic and fractured alliances. Picking up immediately after the events of Compass Points, the story thrusts readers back into the action, as Rose and the Compass Points navigate dangerous challenges to stop a reckless god and restore balance to their continent’s magic.
Rose continues to shine as a determined and resourceful protagonist who refuses to let the status quo dictate her actions. Luc’s backstory is explored in greater depth, revealing a more vulnerable side to his otherwise guarded personality. The relationships among the Compass Points are central to the story, particularly as centuries of mistrust between factions threaten their ability to work together. Watching their uneasy alliances evolve into genuine camaraderie adds emotional weight to the story.
The romance between Rose and Luc continued to keep me enthralled, balancing tension with moments of tenderness. Their relationship feels authentic, driven by mutual respect and trust rather than just attraction. Their banter from the first book takes a backseat in this installment, but the quieter, more introspective moments between them add depth to their dynamic. These romantic elements complement the larger narrative without overshadowing the high-stakes plot.
While Tangled Power delivers compelling character moments and intricate worldbuilding, the pacing leans slower compared to the first book. Much of the story focuses on travel and unraveling the history of the gods and magic, which, while fascinating, lacks the immediacy of Compass Points. The action-packed finale, however, provides a satisfying payoff with high-stakes battles and surprising twists that leave readers eager for the next installment.
Overall, Tangled Power is a worthy sequel that builds on the strengths of its predecessor while paving the way for an epic conclusion to the series. Its exploration of trust, friendship, and the balance of power within a magical world is both thought-provoking and entertaining. Fans of romantasy and elemental magic will find plenty to enjoy, and that cliffhanger ending ensures you'll want to jump into the finale immediately.
I am very invested in this series but I must admit that I did miss my friend Arie. Returning to this world is such a comfort for me. Seeing Rose and Luc in this installment in their relationship was great to see. I really liked to see how both characters have grown in their powers. Rose wielding her power and seeing some of the other points together was great. The narrators, Michael Gallagher and Kasi Hollowell are wonderful. Together they truly brought the world to life! They breathe life tot herse characters and I didn’t want it to end. Very well done! If you enjoy unique magic systems, fae, romantasy, and a fun animal companion be sure to check this one out.
The second installment in the romantasy series "Compass Points" that follows fae with elemental powers that are trying to stop a dangerous mist plague.
Now that the Compass Points know that there is a rogue god on the loose, the four fae are doing everything in their power to stop him. If they are to trap a being as powerful as an Earth god, the four Points are going to have to work together. Unfortunately, that is easier said than done. The four fae courts have never gotten along and the same goes for the Compass Points. Rose, Luc, Juliet, and Carter are now going on the journey of a lifetime in the hopes of uniting their elemental magic to subdue a god that has wreaked havoc on the continent for far too long.
This book certainly suffers quite a bit from book two in a trilogy disease. Most of this book follows the four Compass Points walking across the continent to get from one location from the next. As you can probably guess, this doesn't make for the most exciting story. However, I did really come to forge a deeper connection with all four of our main characters and learn quite a bit more about the magical lore of this continent, so it's an interesting enough read.
One of my favorite scenes from this book has to be when the four Compass Points come together to try to fix the giant hole that's on the cover of this book. The gritty details behind this massive hole are quite interesting and the work that the four have to do with one another to make the hole disappear is a great scene where they four finally learn how to start working together.
Rose and Luc are an established couple at the start of this book, so that's fun. I'm not the most invested in their relationship, but they do make a good pair. Rose is feisty and steadfast whereas Luc is protective and earnest; they compliment each other well. They have been through a ton together and care for each other a ton, so I approve regardless.
I wasn't exactly expecting the book to end the way that it did. For how slowly this book was paced, I was surprised at the showdown that happens at the very end. I wasn't expecting much of these events to happen until book three, so you can considered me surprised. I'm a little bummed out by the cheap strategy that was pulled at the end to create a conflict for book three, but that doesn't mean I'm not desperate to get my hands on the third book.
Luc gets his own PoVs in this book, which is pretty darn fun. Being inside of Luc's head gives a much fuller picture to this story, especially when Rose and Luc's relationship is concerned. I'm assuming this will persist through book three too, which is another thing I'm looking forward to. Overall, "Tangled Power" is definitely the second book in the "Compass Points" trilogy. The pacing is rather slow and not a ton happens, but you are really given a chance to get to know Rose, Luc, Juliet, and Carter as they journey across the continent together. I also enjoyed learning more about the gods' history and the magic system they helped create. I may have been bored by this book a few times, but you can bet that I'm still very invested in this story and am quite curious to read its conclusion!
Audiobook Note: Kasi Hollowell returns as Rose and Michael Gallagher joins her as Luc. I think adding Luc's voice to this story made listening to it more interesting, as experiencing both voices side by side made for a more diverse listening experience. I feel Hollowell's performance was stronger in this book than in the first, and Gallagher's was strong right out the gate. I look forward to listening to the third audiobook in this series if I'm presented with the opportunity to!
By: Jillian Witt Rating: 5/5 I received this eARC for my honest opinion.
Jillian Witt, has done it again. She has written a book that any fantasy lover will just love reading and its prefect for the readers that might want to branch out and try fantasy book for the first time. I would of course recommend that you read the first book, Compass Points before diving into this book. This book picks up right from where book one left off, and you will see the Compass points trying to learn how to trust each other and work with each other, in order to make it so they can kill or in prison a god that is causing havoc around the continent, and to finally make sure that there is a balance to their powers again.
This author knows how to write a fantasy that will grab your attention and keep it throughout the book. The world-building is amazing, the attention to details, the magic system (elemental magic rocks!!), the romance and of course the drama throughout the book will keep you on your toes wanting to know what will happen next. I really liked that in this book you will get a chance to really get to know more about the other Compass points and you will see a friendship grow between them slowly. In this book you will get to see more of the plot come out but you will still see the growth in the characters that we have all come to love from the first book and new ones.
I loved the easy connection that I was able to make with the characters and to be able to see them all grow throughout the book. I found the new characters added a new banter that make the book fun, but you will see how they still don’t trust each other. Which is understandable when you’re taught not to share your powers with anyone or talk about them to anyone (aka the other compass points mainly). With the dual POV you will get to understand what the characters are feeling, and it will help the reader to make an easier connect with them. I found the adventures that the group had to go on to be really beneficial to all of them because it built trust where it wasn’t before and even understanding between the courts. I still loved Rose and Luc the most and not just because of their relationship, but their characters. I loved that you got to see Rose becoming more and more confident about herself and her powers. You will also see the strong woman that she is and see that she is still determined to forge her own path. Luc you will see him struggle in this book but no worries without some struggles you will find him to be too perfect and I loved that he asked for help or would take help when it was offered. Arie is one of my favorite characters in this book, I love his banter and is attitude throughout the book.
I do have to say there one thing I hated in this book and it was the cliffhanger that Jillian Witt left us with… Like why!!!! I have to wait forever to know what will happen next, I just need book 3 and asap.
If you like fantasy, want an easy read, that has a great pace, with great characters, and their development throughout the book. The Compass Points series is one you should/need to pick up.
I want to thank Jillian Witt for the opportunity to review this book.
