After thirty years of parenting and three years of drifting through life in her empty nest, Paige Rhiann has become the honorary spokesperson for the word "doldrums". But things are about to change. When Paige is presented with the chance of a lifetime to make a fresh start in Clearwater, Florida, she decides it's as good a time as any to find out who she is—and who she can become—in this new phase of her life.
On her first day out with the local golf club's ladies league, she meets three women who immediately see in her a kindred spirit. This motley crew of ride or die women from all ages and walks of life pull Paige into their circle of friends, and one by one help her not only embrace her Second Act, but shine in her new role.
Fans of Elin Hilderbrand's The Five-Star Weekend and readers who enjoy empty nest fiction and stories of deep, abiding devotion among strong women will find themselves engrossed in this story of friendship, hope, and the joy that can be found on the other side of Everything You've Ever Known.
Jess Ames is “Mama” to nine, “Mimi” to four, “friend” to all, and an adequate wife. When she’s not writing or editing a book, you can find her hanging out with her husband and kids in “Farmburbia”, cooking, golfing, traveling, and of course… reading.
She’s knocking on the door of fifty, but has the sense of humor of a twelve year old and the body of a fifty-four-year-old (according to her fitness app).
Jess is living the dream of the little girl who wanted to be a writer when she grew up. They are both still waiting for that moment, so she’s writing in the meantime.
3⭐️ Thank you to the author, Jessica Ames for sending me this sweet book and PR box. The female main character, Paige, just happens to be the same age as I am in real life. She is an empty nester after the kids going off to college and her husband leaving her for the typical mid-life crisis younger woman. Her uncle gifts her with an open-ended invitation to stay in his house in Florida to house-sit as he moves in with his partner. It is here where she meets the ladies league at the local golf club and the fun ensues with helping Paige navigate this chapter of her life. It is a very sweet, feel good book. I recommend this for a light, easy, story of friendship and starting over.
This is a really cute and relatable story of a woman navigating life’s second chapter. Paige is a divorced, empty-nester, who lacks motivation to write a her next novel when she secures an opportunity to shake things up by moving to coastal Florida.
As she settles into her new lifestyle, she connects with new friends who support her endeavor and help her create a writer’s retreat in her spacious home. She learns important lessons as she discovers her new self while also remaining true to her core values. The setting was dreamy and who doesn’t love a story with a golden retriever?!?
I enjoyed reading about Paige’s realistic novel writing process as well as developing a business plan! This book allowed me to reflect on my own journey in life’s second chapter and the representation of women in their fifties. It left me with inspiration and an overall feel-good sensation!
I was able to read an ARC of this debut novel that is filled with heart. The main character, Paige, knows she needs a fresh start in many ways after a divorce she didn’t choose, and other circumstances soon seem to be nudging her to make some big changes. I always enjoy a good second-act story in which the protagonist dares to imagine a different life for herself, and Everything You’ve Ever Known does just that. There are plenty of deep friendships and loving family relationships woven throughout the novel, too. It’s a fun read that might just prompt readers to dream bigger for themselves as well!
It is a sweet story about losing yourself and slowly being reminded about your worth through your "people's" love, care, and commitment. As a mom, daughter, and friend, I get it! You lose little bits and pieces of yourself along the way... however, finding the light in your soul again to continue and live your best chapters—well, that takes courage and love for oneself.
The narrative is both touching and inspiring, showcasing the power of love, life, and friendship. It reminds us that even in our darkest moments, there is always a flicker of light within us waiting to be rekindled. The characters are well-developed, and their relationships are portrayed with a genuine warmth that makes you root for them every step of the way.
Paige has been depressed since her last child left home for college, which followed her other child leaving and her husband declaring he no longer wanted to be married. She can barely get herself out of bed, finds no meaning in life and is seriously worrying her best friend of 45 years, Kari.
When the stars align, Paige has a chance to shake up her life by housesitting for her Uncle Mike, at the same time that Kari and her family need a place to live. So, Paige moves to Florida and Kari moves into her house for a while. Paige's move does more than just change her address, though, she finds a whole new lease on her life, new friends and a new mindset for opportunities. I loved that the women all support each other through everything, and that Paige was a strong woman. I think that any woman who has had to evaluate their life and make changes will enjoy this book,
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
I absolutely loved Everything You've Ever Known by Jess Ames! This book had me laughing out loud, especially with the mischievous antics of the twins, though I felt a little sorry for Kari having to deal with the aftermath when they drove the Camry into her kitchen! Despite the chaos, their actions played a big role in helping Aunt Paige make a fresh start in Florida, which was exactly what she needed to move on from the heartbreak of her husband Mark's leaving.
What I loved most was the friendship between Kari and Paige. Their bond felt real, supportive, and inspiring. Paige’s relationship with her children, Anna and Jason, was also beautifully written and added such a warm, loving layer to the story.
This book is funny, heartwarming, and perfect for anyone who enjoys stories about friendships, navigating life’s second acts, and rediscovering themselves. I cannot wait to read the next books in the Clearwater Dreams series!
I had been waiting for this book to be released, so I ordered it right away. The characters were relatable and likable (except the one you aren’t supposed to like… you’ll find out why when you read the book). This was one of those books I didn’t want to put down, one of those that makes you want to reach out to the characters and see if they’re free to hang out later. It is a feel-good story that encourages women to follow the dreams they didn’t even realize they had. I love to pay attention to the author’s dedication and read “About the Author” to get a feel for the talent behind the pages to really appreciate the books I choose and appreciate that Jessica Ames offers readers to keep cheering on her characters and follow her path as an author on JessicaAmes.com. I hope she has something new coming soon because I’m ready for more.
This is book #1 in the Clearwater Dreams series. This is a new to me author!! Jenna is starting over. She has made some really good friends. She has a job. She has found joy in baking. She never had anyone cheer her on.
It’s like this book is talking to me. Have faith. Have courage to do what you dream of. Don’t listen to anyone who’s negative.
Definitely enjoyed this book. It opened my eyes to go get my dream. I want to read more from this author. Love what’s in front of every chapter! I don’t want to say too much to give anything away.
CAWFILE: 8.29 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I give this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. Recommend this book? Yes! Author? Yes! Read more from this author? Yes!
It is always sad to see how some women determine their own worth related to others and see themselves as a wife and a mother, not an independent and valuable human being. So I was really pleased to see how Paige found her feet in the new situation, and decided to find her earlier self and also her self respect. She found kindred spirits in the three women on her first visit to the tennis ladies' league with whom they bonded at once and they helped her with her inner journey. Unfortunately I found the book a little slow and too detailed at places, but other readers might like it, so I can recommend it to anyone who likes reading about empty nesters.
Everything You’ve Ever Known is just what I needed in my life right now. A story of redirection. Of finding myself and knowing myself -again. Paige makes us all realize it’s okay to change course. To focus on ourselves. As women, especially after our kids leave the nest, I think we tend to forget that. We oftentimes feel as if our purpose has been fulfilled. This book is invigorating! Its lively characters and dreamy setting left me wanting to join Paige and her gang on their journey. It left me wondering exactly what direction I might go next?
I received this book in a pr box and was so excited to read it. From the very beginning the characters are so lovable. The constant theme of strong female friendships is so inspiring to read about because it’s something everyone should have in their lives. I loved the details to the cover as well because the farther i got in the book the more i recognized everything. Even the little lizard Roxy is chasing that i didn’t notice before! I teared up at the ending and loved the heartwarming story of there being so more to life after heart break.
I took this beautiful book to the beach with me last week and SOAKED IT UP! This is a story or a woman struggling to find herself after her husband up and left her and her kids are off to college. I could relate to the empty nest syndrome so much. It was so nice to read a book where the main character is the same age as me. If only I could inherit a mansion on the beach! Goals!! It was the perfect beach read. I truly recommend it. It is a story of friendships new and old, family and discovering.
This book was so full of heart and soul. I really enjoyed the empty nest aspect (since I'm nearing that stage of my life). I also am always a sucker for books about women finding themselves in their "second act" of life. This was such a delightful read!! Not sure if younger folks will identify as much with the main character, but she is definitely aspirational for those who have yet to understand what it's like to grow older. As for me, I got it...and loved it!
I kept hoping for a spark of more than just a typical story. I kept with it though. I skipped large number of pages through boredom. At about 86% through it I decided to finish the book. It had become a little more interesting. The characters were somewhat interesting however, I never really got into it as book. I read at least 5 books a week of romance through mystery. Work on getting the spark like Caleb in the book said.
I thought that this was a very raw story about what it’s like to give up “everything you’ve ever known”. It was empowering to see that the female main character struggled with her identity and sought out to find it. I think this book screamed feminist in the best way.
Thank you to netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review!
I was lucky enough to receive a copy of this book, and i am so glad that I did! This book was the sweetest story. I loved watching the MC find herself after going through an extremely difficult situation. It’s always so heart warming to see someone develop self love and realize their worth. I loved the friendship and hope that this story brought, and loved this debut novel!
Heart-warming story about having an empty nest and finding the courage to find yourself on the way to starting your next chapter. I appreciate that the author touched on the mental health struggles some of the main characters were wrestling with and highlighted how pivotal their community support was in their journey. Super sweet book club pick and an easy read. Thanks for the ARC Netgalley!
Great book for vacation! Light hearted story about an empty nest/divorced mom try to find her new normal now that kids and hubby are gone. She has a wonderful relationship with her parents kids and best friend. But needs more. As an aspiring writer - she needs inspiration. She finds it and more - in new friends and surroundings in Florida. I love a happy ending!
A heartwarming and fun read about the power of friendship. Paige is a relatable character who's been stuck in the same groove so long, she's worn a deep rut down the middle of her life and she's having a hard time seeing her way out. This relatable tale of an empty nest, a desire for more, and the enduring power of friendships old and new is a lovely feel-good journey!
Paige thinks she is living the most boring life ever. Her uncle gives her an opportunity to watch over his home in Clearwater, FL. She discovers herself and has great fun with new friends. Thanks to Halo Publishing Group and NetGalley for the ARC.
2.5 stars. Likeable characters but so unrealistic that your rich uncle says come live in my mansion that I’m giving you, meet six women in the first week and immediately become friends and be able to write a book after one meeting with a mentor.

This book is like having a cup of coffee with a friend and catching up on everything that’s been going on their life. Paige feels the doldrum of life that happens after you’ve spent most of your adulthood raising your children and then they leave the nest. It’s that second part of life where we get to discover new things about ourselves, go on new adventures, and make new friends. A beautiful reminder that there is so much more life to live.
