The Conways hire Shannon, a tour guide for Ireland, but right away, you sense something's fishy. It grabbed me right from the get-go! Each character has their own thing going on, but it's easy to follow. Shannon just wants to make some cash, but she's bossed around by Rosalind to make everything perfect. The dual perspectives give us a peek into the Conways' scheming and Shannon's hustle to make it all work. And let me tell you, the twists at the end? Mind-blowing! Hurst has knocked it out of the park again with this fast-paced and fun story that I couldn't get enough of!

Gripping, thrilling, shocking, and hard to put down! This book is heavy on drama, lies, deception, manipulation, and diabolical behavior. In short, it was a fun and entertaining read! I could not stop turning the pages, as questions were swirling around in my mind, and I was desperate for answers. I loved riding the wave of twists and turns to the thrilling conclusion!

Daniel Hurst’s books always grip me immediately and The Family Trip is no exception. Shannon is desperate for money when a dream job is dropped into her lap. She is requested to be a tour guide in her native country Ireland by a wealthy family. This job is the answer to her money problems. What could possibly go wrong? This fast-paced thriller is original, entertaining, and full of twists I never saw coming. This book could easily be devoured in one sitting. I was hooked from start to finish. I highly recommend this page-turner! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy.

Daniel Hurst’s latest book The Family Trip had me on the edge of my seat until the very last page. Oh boy, was this a family trip that was set in Ireland, a place I’ve always wanted to do with a tour guide just like in the book but it makes me think twice now . Just kidding. Daniel Hurst is one of those authors you just can't go wrong with. I would classify his books as popcorn thrillers. Fast paced and plot driven.
His latest book The family trip is about an Irish tour guide called Shannon who get propositioned by a wealthy American family to give them a private exclusive tour or Ireland and they offer her a too good to turn down deal. What Shannon doesn't realise is that the family have a sinister reason for specifically wanting to hire Shannon. Will she realise before it's too late?
Whilst The family trip was indeed entertaining, quick to read and easy to follow, I felt the 'twists' at least the important ones were very easily guessed early on. If a shockingly good twist at the end is what you are after then don't hold your breath although there is a small one I did NOT see coming towards the very end.
Fans of Frieda Mcfadden will no doubt enjoy Daniel Hurst's books too and in my opinion they are similar in style and execution.
All in all and enjoyable read although not one of Daniel's best. I will no doubt look forward to reading more from him.

Shannon is an Irish tour guide, dutifully taking tourists to the most touristy parts of Dublin. She would love to branch out and show people the REAL Ireland, but she has to abide by the terms of her employer until she can afford to launch her own company, so she’s stuck showing pubs and castles.
One day, she gets an email. The Conway Family - Donovan, Rosalind and their son, Barnaby, are coming to Ireland from Boston. They don’t want the typical lame tourism weekend that most people get with the agency. They are offering Shannon $20,000 for a private tour of Ireland, seeking out the most remote and exclusive spots. Their teenage daughter Esme is in boarding school, but they are bringing their young son and his nanny, Philippa.
From the beginning, it’s clear the Conways have an ulterior motive for taking this trip. Rosalind is too rude, Donovan is too nice, and Barnaby and Philippa barely speak. The synopsis is slightly misleading, but we do know from it that they wish to harm Shannon. That’s a huge part of the mystery - why would this wealthy American couple want to kill a young Irishwoman who doesn’t even know them?
Their reasoning for wanting Shannon dead is a bit odd, but the uber-wealthy can be eccentric, so it definitely didn’t seem out of the realm of possibility. This was a very quick page turner, as you’re going to want to find out who this couple is, and why they want to kill Shannon. The book raced along into a shocking conclusion that I didn’t see coming. This is your perfect summer thriller - 4.5 stars!

If you love Freida McFadden or any of the psychological thriller female authors books than you will love Daniel Hurst. I have read almost all his work and this book and The Doctors Wife Series are his best.
Many twists and turns make this story an edge of your seat type thriller. I couldn't put this book down once I started. A definite recommend. While you wait for this to come out check out Daniels other work you won't be disappointed.

Yet another fun, twisty, and super-engaging thriller by Daniel Hurst.
Even though I guessed the final two twists, I was invested in the fast-paced storyline from start to finish.
I especially enjoyed the Ireland setting.
It's important to note that this is not a child abduction/missing child thriller, as stated on the book cover.
Instead, it's a book about revenge and the worst possible scenarios of child adoption.
I listened to the audiobook read by Lauryn Allman and Shelley Atkinson.
Both narrators did an outstanding job with the narration.

A seemingly innocent quick cash making guide tour job for Shannon appears nothing but ideal, the rich American family who are coming to Dublin have requested her specially after reading reviews of her wonderful tours online
But this is Daniel Hurst and so nothing is as seems at first and soon Shannon regrets her decision as the couple turn out to be vile, rude and obnoxious, and it almost feels personal

The story moves quickly and we are soon in a race against time and Shannon more than wishes she had said no to the seemingly cushy job
Typical of the author it is a fast paced, anything can and does happen story with twists and carryings on a plenty, probably my favourite by the author this year!
I enjoyed the descriptions of Dublin and surrounding areas and learnt a bit more about the City/Country
Despicable characters with a good plot made this a must read

Daniel hurst never disappoints. This fast past pov story had me gripped from page 1. Its full of secrets ,twists and turns. The characters are well developed. For me the burb was the ultimate twist as it didnt feel true to the story. I loved the way the story was revealed and although i did ultimately gueese the true identity of the nanny. The actioned packed second half and final reveal was worth the wait. Relatively short read. Could see a possibility of a sequel. The dialogue between the characters within the pov really help me understand the characters more.
I can see the burb is a deliberate red herring. The actual plot seemed quite real to me although ott but reflective of the characters.

Rosalind and Donovan have asked Shannon to take them on a private tour of Ireland with their son, Barnaby, and his nanny. But the couple has dire plans for the travel agent.
Daniel Hurst brings us another psychological thriller. I love that this author has been throwing 3-4 books/year at us lately, but the last few felt very mid. I'd be OK with only one good book per year instead... This felt drawn out, and the paragraphs were waaaaay too long, which is odd for a thriller and really slows down the pace. And there was way too much foreshadowing, unsaid things that had no reason to be not said. It takes way too long for anything to happen. And the synopsis is a bit spoilery and misleading. I thought it was too predictable, although someone who doesn't read a lot of thrillers might not, you will still have to suspend disbelief because it is slightly over the top. Even the ending dragged, piling predictable twist upon predictable twist, it was just everything but the kitchen sink. The reveals start at about 60% and just keep rolling from there. Did I enjoy my read? I did not not enjoy it, but my expectations were not met.

I enjoyed how the chapters jumped between Shannon and Rosalind Conways POV’s - I very much liked trying to guess why the Conways were targeting Shannon. Once we got the reveal, it was something I was not expecting. See, the Conways are liars so it’s hard to distinguish what we should believe, and what we cannot.
This will be released May 31, 2024 - I highly recommend it if you enjoy addicting, twisty books.

I always read Hurst’s books as soon as they come out so I was happy to get this ARC! A couple hires a tour guide to show them around Ireland. The couple, their child and nanny fly from Boston to Ireland with an ulterior motive! I was hoping the twist wasn’t glaringly obvious. There were multiple twists so it isn’t all easy to guess. I mainly just enjoyed reading. I love his easy style of writing, and the ride was enjoyable! I could also picture the Ireland landscape as I read! If you haven’t already, read all of his books! Some are better than others which is to be expected. As an added bonus, his father is now an author! While his writing style is different, I enjoy his books equally as much! Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!

Not my fav DH but it was definitely interesting and touched on some sensitive topics that are worth exploring more. Much of the first half moved slowly and I wanted to get on with it but in the end, I wanted to know more. We wasted too much time on the "she'll never guess why I'm here *evil cartoon laugh*" and not enough time on wrapping up the story in a neat bow for me! 😮💨😂

Daniel Hurst does it again!! From the many twists and turns in this book to the endless unlovable characters, I was hooked from the beginning!

Shannon O'shea works as a travel agent in Ireland and is barely making ends meet. She dislikes her current job and dreams of showing people the "real" Ireland, parts that are rarely seen and appreciated. When a wealthy American couple want to privately hire her to do just that, as well as paying her a very sizable sum, she is ecstatic. Little does she know that this couple is not all that they seem.
This story started off interesting, I kept wondering what unexpected twist was coming. When I finally got to it, I found it pretty preposterous. It just kept getting more and more unbelievable and I ended up a bit disappointed. I've enjoyed other books by this author, but this was a flop for me.

I just finished this book and want to scream 😱. I feel that this book is going to be the first in a series and I want the next one ASAP!! It's amazing how this author can make me feel such rollercoaster of emotions throughout the book. Please write a sequel fast !!!

The Family Trip by Daniel Hurst is a suspenseful read that will have you racing to get to the end. Shannon is a tour guide in Dublin, Ireland and likes her job, but is a bit bored with it. Her boss has a set tour that he likes his guides to follow. Very basic and getting very boring for Shannon. When Shannon receives an email from a wealthy couple requesting her services she gets excited. The Conways want to hire Shannon for a 1 week tour around the best places in Ireland. They'll pay her $20,000 if she'll agree to do it. Shannon is worried that it's too good to be true, so she asks for a deposit before they arrive. When the $5,000 is deposited in her account she gets excited. She plans the most incredible tour for the couple..
When the Conways arrive on a private air strip on a private plane, Shannon knows she made the right decision. These people are very wealthy. As they're getting off the plane there is a couple, a little boy, and another woman. Rosalind Conway didn't mention anyone but her and her husband. Every plan Shannon made is for 2 people and specifically 2 adults! Shannon doesn't want to rock the boat as she needs the money so she is accommodating and makes the changes where necessary. As she starts to familiarize herself with the Conways they seem a bit off. Rosalind yells at her son and doesn't seem to want to spend time with him The other woman is the nanny and she's in charge of Barnaby., the boy. Shannon likes Barnaby and doesn't understand why the parents want the nanny to always take him elsewhere.
Why did the Conways really book this tour? Is there more to it than luck that Shannon got the gig? Why is Rosalind so rude to Shannon? Shannon has them doing some risky things on the tour. Will they all survive the tour? Will Shannon get her money? Are the Conways who they say they are? The suspense builds to a frantic ending with many twists and turns. Daniel Hurst has done it again as I flew through this book in a day. I rate The Family Trip 4 stars with a high recommendation. You won't be able to put this book down! "The Family Trip" by Daniel Hurst is another thrilling 5-star read by one of my new favorite authors! Shannon O’Shea is working as a tour guide when she gets the offer of a lifetime. Rosalind and Donovan offer Shannon $10,000 for a private tour around Ireland. Daniel Hurst is one of my go to authors and yet again he doesn’t disappoint with his latest novel ‘The Family trip’.
Donovan and Rosalind are a wealthy American couple with two children and a nanny. They are planning a trip to Ireland and want to book a tour guide for their travels so they can get the real Ireland experience.
Shannon is a tour guide, and she loves her job, but she can only get to the most popular places under the company guidelines and her boss takes all the profits. She wants to branch out on her own and take people to remote and unique places. But she is broke and in debt. So, when she is contacted by Rosalind and Donovan who overs her a substantial amount of money that will get rid of some of her debts she owes. She can’t wait to take the chance to make some extra money. But wonders how they found out about her. No all as it seems and Shannon will soon find out the real couple’s agenda.
Mr Hurst has done it again with ‘The family Trip’ This is another unputdownable read. It’s a great twisty thriller with another ending that you didn’t see coming. 5 stars.

Great novel - I had the twist all worked out, or so I thought. But then came the real twist. Highly recommend!

This was my first Daniel Hurst book and definitely not my last.
A family traveling from America goes missing while on a trip to Ireland. We get Dual POV in this book. The wife of the family who came to Ireland on a family vacation, and the travel guide they sought out to give them a private tour of the country.
Such a fun, fast paced thriller that will keep you guessing and unable to put down. I absolutely flew through this book. I would recommend for fans of Freida McFadden and Kiersten Modglin.

This book!!! The prologue had me instantly hooked. I immediately felt sketched out with the scenarios going on, so I knew it was too good to be true with the offerings. The first 60% of the book had me questioning so many things. I came up with so many theories and spoiler alert, they were all wrong! Twist after twist got thrown at me and the ending had me shook. I couldn’t believe it. I loved the short chapters and each chapter ended on a mini cliff hanger, so I had to keep reading. I devoured this book and finished it in a little over 24 hours! The characters had me so frustrated at times and I just wanted to help out in certain scenarios.

This is a great tale that you’ll be hard pressed to put down. Cancel your day and get cozy with this addicting thriller. You’ll love it.

I read an ARC of this book that will be released 5/31/24.
This is my first Daniel Hurst book and I will definitely be looking out for more of his work to read. The book kept my attention throughout and the twist at the end took me by total surprise as I certainly did not see it coming. The epilogue left me wanting a sequel so fingers crossed for a part 2!
The description of this book is not accurate. Major details must have changed as it went through the editing process. I expect that will be updated when it’s published but regardless, if you love a complete surprise of a twist at the end, this book is for you!

Another twisty psychological thriller from the master himself, Daniel Hurst. This time we meet Shannon, a young woman who works as a tour guide in Ireland and is subsquently hired by wealthy American couple Donavon and Rosalind Conway to give them a tour of Ireland's rich and remote sights and a holiday to remember.
It will certainly be that...for everyone involved.
Shannon is a struggling single woman trying to make ends meet after a disastrous relationship that left her both bereft and broke, after her boyfriend took everything she had. She works for a thankless employer doing (thankfully) what she loves - showing tourists the sights of her beloved Ireland. Although she would much rather show them the hidden gems rather than the usual trope people just come to tick off their bucket list.
And then she receives an email from Rosalind Conway, asking her to give them a personalised bespoke tour of the places Shannon has longed to show tourists - Ireland's hidden gems. It seems to be an easy ideal way to build her coffers again when Rosalind offers her an eye watering $20,000 for the privilege. All she needs to do is take a leave of absence from her current employer, telling no one and offer them the sights unseen by others who flock to Ireland's shores. Easy, right?
However this is Daniel Hurst and nothing is ever what it seems. Least of all, everyone involved. As usual, the cast of characters is but a handful and each of them are hiding secrets - some known to the reader, others not. But like all Hurst thrillers, he has but one more twist to throw in...after another and another.
As usual, a pleasure to read. I love Daniel Hurst and soak up everything he offers. Prolific as he is, though, I can't keep up...lol But I enjoy the journey nonetheless and this one is no different.

Daniel never fails to keep me entertained with his psychological thrillers. They're so twisted. You never know what's going to happen next.
This time around, we meet Dublin tour guide Shannon O'Shea and the craziest married couple ever to exist- Donovan and Rosalind Connelly.
Shannon loves her job, but it doesn't pay too well. She also dreams of giving tourists a more authentic look at Ireland. So when she's contacted by the Connelly's in hope of organising a private tour, she grabs it with both hands. Why not? A hefty payment for her services and she gets to show off her country to the Americans.
What could possibly go wrong?
Everything. And then some.
This was so bingeable that I knocked it out in just a couple of hours. As I mentioned, Daniel's books are twisty so be prepared for plenty of plot changes. It's best to go in blind with this one friends!
An example of pure epicness that showcases the best of Ireland.
