Panchtantra is a wonderful collection of short stories that are also considered to be Indian folklore. It was originally written in Sanskrit and I remember reading this when I was learning the language. These stories have stayed with me unfortunately the language, Sanskrit didn't.

All the stories have morals at the end to teach better things to children and people of all ages I believe. This is a good translation and I recommend it to everyone who loves folklores.

Loved it when I was a kid. A bit "moral-ish", but nevertheless it isn't overwhelmingly so.
