Switching identities was easy...until love got in the way.
When Mackenzie agrees to switch places with her famous twin sister, Jera, she doesn’t realize what she’ll be getting herself into, like getting stuck hanging halfway out of the bathroom window wearing only a towel. Luckily, Dustin Sawyer, the handsome actor next door, comes to her rescue. But there’s a problem—he’s in a feud with Jera.
As Mackenzie tries to navigate her sister’s Hollywood life and keep up appearances, she finds an unlikely ally in Dustin. Despite their initial misunderstandings, Mackenzie and Dustin share an undeniable connection that deepens with each passing day. But there’s one major obstacle standing in their way—Dustin believes Mackenzie is Jera.
Caught between her growing feelings for Dustin and the guilt of deceiving him, Mackenzie must find the courage to reveal the truth before it’s too late, and she loses him for good.
I love a good case of mistaken identity, and that's what this book is all about. If you're looking for a fun, sweet rom-com about a girl with anxiety and the handsome celebrity who falls for her, this is the perfect poolside read for you.
Note to sensitive readers: Nothing that I can think of. It's squeaky clean as far as romances go.

My thoughts: This was fun. I was expecting more Parent Trap style hijinks but it was still a good time.
Recommend to others: Sure this is a quick adventurous read.
I always enjoy this author's mix of humor with romance that leads to a lot of fun interactions. Of course these two meet in a more awkward than funny or cute moment but it is memorable. Anxiety is an issue in the book but dealt with in a healthy way. Clean RomCom, run to read.
I loved it! This was a great, clean romcom. It was so much fun to read! I was excited to see the author had a new release as she is usually an automatic “I want to read anything she publishes” for me. I wasn’t disappointed. I recommend it.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT Switching identities was easy...until love got in the way.
MY TAKE Mackenzie and Jera are two very different twin sisters. They may look alike, but their personalities are so very different. Jera hated the small town she grew up in and couldn't wait to move to the big city and make her mark as a movie star. And she succeeded. Her identical twin, however, loved the small town and suffers from social anxiety. Travel is difficult for her. So, it's no small deal when Jera calls Mackenzie and begs her to come substitute for her for just a couple of weeks while she recovers from plastic surgery that didn't go well. The only thing that could convince Mackenzie to face Hollywood is getting better quality paints.
But there's so much about Jera's crazy life that Mackenzie knows nothing about. Certainly not the hot neighbor. Nor the property battle the two have going on with a pending lawsuit.
But Dustin and Mackenzie (whom he believes if Jera) hit it off--after an embarrassing meet cute that's pretty adorable. And Dustin is really a great guy! You can see it in how kind he is in things that don't matter. So it's no surprise that MacKenzie falls for him.
The romance is swoony between two great characters.
I like rom-com, no, I actually love rom-coms!!! I love how they make you feel good inside and those tender moments between the main characters, their antics, escapades, and everything in between; but this book didn’t give any of those vibes.
I think Dustin is a super sweet hero who wants the best for our heroine, Mackenzie. He is everything you can dream of a Hollywood star and more, he is thoughtful, famous, rich, caring, a good cook, he is just such an amazing guy! So what’s the problem?… I just couldn’t stand Mackenzie. I’m sick and tired of females leads that are weak, that don’t know their own value, and that have past issue that can be worked by going to therapy. The author portrayed Mackenzie as being a girl with anxiety who doesn’t like being around people, and who needs a support dog to relax, so far there’s not a problem, right? Well, the thing is that Mackenzie doesn’t like to receive help and she thinks that she can conquer her anxiety by just avoiding triggering scenarios like being in a crowd. So, she spends more than half of the book crying for everything!!! She is an emotional wreck. Even though she can solve all her problems just by trusting in Dustin, she decides to remain silent 🙄 The miscommunication trope is one that I could live without!!! And don’t let me start with Mackenzie twin, Jera, she’s as shallow as can be 😖🫣
I wish I could give this a higher rating because the description is interesting. I had issues with the FMC's constant lying when it came to the MMC. The lack of communication and her immaturity made me roll my eyes on multiple occasions. I get that her lying was the whole point of the story but it irked me to know that she kept up with the lies anyways, because she had an out once she returned home. It felt like the condoning of gaslighting and I dislike that kind of behavior. The resolution at the end was super quick and a bit unbelievable considering what happened to them. The MMC was super sweet and yummy though.
WRITING STYLE: Not my favorite writing style. It is very heavy on the Telling, as opposed to putting forward the Showing (i.e. lots of short sentences that say what the character is doing, as opposed to more in depth sentences describing what the character is experiencing: I do this. I see that. He does this) It created a gap in between the reader and the character.
- No Spice (in case you were wondering) - Standalone Rom-Com, light on the Com. It was a light story that had a few silly scenes but nothing that had me busting a gut in laughter
Mackenzie agrees to trade places with her famous twin sister Jera, and meets her neighbour, Dustin. She has no clue that Dustin and Jera are in the midst of a lawsuit, and she finds him to be kind and helpful, taking her to a gala and supporting her through an anxiety attack.
She shares real things about herself as an artist, about her family, and she learns his own story growing up in a famous family.
When he takes down the offending fence the lawsuit is about, Mackenzie knows he genuinely cares for her, but he finds out she’s been lying to him when Jera returns home.
Mackenzie takes his advice and gets help for her anxiety, and she tracks him down to tell him the truth and apologize. They declare their love, and all is forgiven.
A fun story of a twin mixup. I don’t like Jera, who seems manipulative and kind of shallow, but she does come through for her sister in the end. Mackenzie is interesting, and Dustin is a total sweetheart who cooks too!
Mackenzie reluctantly agrees to step into the designer shoes of her famous twin, Jera. The switch is supposed to be easy, but the chaos begins immediately when she finds herself dangling from a bathroom window—a disaster that is quickly remedied by her savior, the incredibly handsome actor next door, Dustin Sawyer. There’s just one complication: Dustin is currently locked in a very public feud with the real Jera.
This book is romantic comedy gold. It’s got mistaken identity, laugh-out-loud moments, and just the right amount of slow-burn tension. Mackenzie’s down-to-earth charm contrasts perfectly with Dustin’s movie-star energy, making their relationship both fun and tender. The emotional payoff when the truth finally comes out? Totally worth it.
If you love romcoms with celebrity drama, secret identities, and a sweet “it could only happen in the movies” kind of love story, this is the book for you.
I've always enjoyed stories of twins. It's fun when they swap places especially when those who know them don't notice or can't tell. I knew a couple sets of twins while growing up. As far as I remember, I never had any trouble knowing who was who. Remember the SWEET VALLEY HIGH series of books? I lived them mostly because the main girls are twins. I'm glad Mackenzie wanted to tell Dustin from the beginning who she really was. She certainly was in a hard place. Who knows, though, if she had told him from the beginning she was Mackenzie instead of Jera, maybe Dustin would have kept her secret.... and we wouldn't have the cute, fun story we do. 😃
I really enjoyed Victorine E Lieske’s “My Twin Sister’s Extremely Famous and Incredibly Hot Neighbor!!” It captured my attention from the very beginning and didn’t let go!! I found the storyline all the more interesting and enjoyable that it wasn’t the usual trope of falling for the twin’s Ex!! The male lead was an adorable cinnamon roll who was so sweet, thoughtful, and attentive to the female lead, plus he liked to spoil her dog! The story was very well written with likable, intelligent characters, and I appreciated that it was clean with no foul language and no scenes to make you cringe!
I would definitely recommend it and I look forward to reading more from this talented author!
This is a little different from the typical twin switch and the one falls in love with someone she shouldn’t story. But, only a little different. It has the guy who has lots of money that has been burned by liars, the famous twin that is identical to the non famous twin who lives as a poor artist teaching art classes (and somehow no one ever connects the twins?). There was a lot of suspending my disbelief. He sounds like a great guy and she’s a great girl and they’re super awesome together, but it was all very strange in how they made up after the big conflict. And it pretty much ended soon after, so I’m so grateful for the epilogue!
The games twins will play. One is fun loving and excitement the other is still fun and loving but a bit of and extrovert. Two actors and one painter. Lots of misunderstandings that go as far as a law suit. Painter replaces sister that's an actor for one week and becomes friends with neighboring actor that said sister does not like. Six months later Painter still has feeling and misgivings about her live for actor, and she switches spots with her twin again to try for another chance with actor. Good read.
Victorine Lieske is a new to me author, sort of. I’ve know about her through the Writing Gals. I’ve wanted to read one of her books and then I found her YouTube channel. This novel is so light, sweet, and an awesome meet cute. I think I smiled for most of the book. -Celebrity crush -Mistaken Identity -Boy next door -Sister’s nemesis -Small town girl/ city boy -close proximity -Emotional support dog I will be reading more of her books, especially on hard days. TW: Therapy/ Medication/ Anxiety
Mistaken identity might be my new favorite trope. When Mackenzie switches places with her famous sister, Jera, she doesn’t expect to meet the movie star, Dustin Sawyer. I loved Mackenzie, from her embarrassing moments and vulnerability to her kind heart. Dustin was the sweetest, especially as he won over her dog. I loved all of the playful moments! This book was so cute!
Cute, well-written romance that made me laugh a couple times. I really liked Dustin (I'm quite partial to cinnamon roll heroes, go figure ;) ), and I mostly liked Mackenzie, although I'll admit that I would have liked to shake some sense into her quite a couple of times. I can't believe just how many chances of coming clean she didn't pursue.
Note re: audio version: I really liked how Liz Krane's narration brought everyone to life!
I absolutely loved this book. Couldn't put it down. Read it in 1 go! If you love cheesy romance then this is right book for you. Only kept shouting "TELL HIM TELL HIM". He keeps telling you how he hated how much his ex's lied to him, but hey there has to be some drama in a book to keep it exciting 😜
I really enjoyed this book, the narrador was fantastic and I guess I’m kinda obsessed with it. 😍😍 that were some parts that annoyed me like all those parts where Mackenzie keep saying to herself that she needs to tell the truth, but never actually TELLING the truth, and her sister Jera kinda gave me the icks but the romance part was really romancing it.
When Mackenzie agrees to trade places with her identical twin, she doesn't realize the complications that will occur. Although the twins are similar in appearance, their personalities are different. This is a fun read as Mackenzie tries to get herself out of the predicament, she finds herself in.
This is a super sweet story . . .It kept me up until midnight to finish it. I think my only gripe was how fast the whole thing happened and also I was kind of skeptical that they didn't have more direct issues with paparazzi. But the storyline is sweet and the characters are fairly believable. Fun, light, clean read.
Sweet short book filled with twins switching places, a hot neighbor taking interest in the wrong twin, assumptions are made and it makes for a fun story. The meet cute is so much fun, unless you are the one stuck in a window in just a towel.😁 I liked seeing a crossover character from one of the author’s earlier books.
Did not finish. I made it through chapter 23, but I got bored, and Mackenzie not telling Dustin the truth, especially after he specifically cited lies as issues in past relationships, and after she realized that it wouldn't hurt Jera if she told Dustin, was too much for me.
Content: clean as far as I read. No sex or profanity.
A fun and sweet HEA that leaves you feeling satisfied. Trigger warning: I liked how the heroine openly talked about her anxiety in crowds, and how she sought help through counseling and medication to work through the anxiety. I look forward to reading more by this author!
Twins swaping places. Getting stuck in the bathroom window. Dropped phone in water. Hot famous neighbor.
Pretty predictable how it will play out but the characters were very enjoyable. She gives off nervous girl next door vibes and he gives off golden retriever energy! Oh any she has a rescue pup!
Mackenzie reluctantly agrees to switch places with her famous twin sister Jera. As she tries to navigate Hollywood she ends up relying on Jera’s neighbor, Dustin Sawyer who is in a legal battle with Jera. Mackenzie begins to fall for Dustin, but when he finds she has lied to him things fall apart. A touching story about relationships and overcoming fears.
I just don't like to read about someone who has anxiety. It gives me anxiety too and I don't need that when I'm trying to escape with a book. Other than that it was a cute story if you don't mind insta love. I love books about twins switching places so I had to give this a try.
