Bounty hunter Dev Shannon has his work cut out for him when the wife of an old friend disappears, and his buddy ends up facing a murder rap. Agreeing to look for the missing woman, Dev enlists the help of his friend and sometime bedmate, private detective Cynthia Proffer. The only problem is; what if Dev's search ends up putting the nails in his friend's coffin? Aside from doing favors, Dev has paying clients to please. One less-than-glamorous case has him tracking a divorcee who's swiped her ex-hubby's pride and joy--a pint-sized pooch that ends up getting Dev in more trouble than he bargained for. If that's not enough, Dev has to hit the high seas to recover an eighty-foot yacht that some disgruntled dock boys have taken for a harmless little joyride--to Costa Rica. But making a living gets even harder when someone else wants to make a killing--literally. Now, the hunter becomes the hunted as Dev finds himself in the sites of a stone-cold psychopath who wants payback with bloody interest.

I love a good, fast-paced thriller, and Bob Burton's newest book, Bullet Blues, does not disappoint. The story is exciting until the final page has been read and the book closed and put down to rest. Being from Santa Barbara, I can picture the places that Dev is visiting and Burton is right on the money with his descriptions of the locales.
Bullet Blues is an excellent addition of the Dev Shannon thriller series and a wonderful follow-up to the first book, Crimson Hit. Dev himself is a fantastic main character who is uncharacteristically human. I like the fact that he is not perfect or some kind of superman. He uses his wits to get out of most situations, and some of those situations can become pretty sticky. I really like this about Dev Shannon.
So, if you are looking for a excellent mystery thriller, pick up a copy of Bullet Blues by Bob Burton. You will find it hard to put down.
Good continuing part of the bounty Hunter activities of Dev Shannon and one that will keep me looking for more. I enjoyed the author's ability to flow multiple lines of play into a coherent tale that kept me interested in the next step.
